If you're getting body work done, you're probably in one of two categories: insurance is paying and I can splurge a bit to do things the perfectly right way, depending on your deductable... and damnit I should've gotten collision coverage because some lady at Whole Foods can't pull out of her parking spot without making three critical phone calls. Hit and runs can leave you frustrated and angry at humanity. So first take a deep breath, realize that it's just life in the city, maybe cut off the next soccer mom you see, and get on with fixing it.
Brian won't fool around with the chumminess to make you "feel at ease" - what should put you at ease is his honesty. He'll give you the options: quick cheap n dirty (pull out the dent, tap, buff down scratches, etc.), some sort of compromise (spend more time tapping out the ripples in a dent), or the fullout insurance solution (replace the door panel). He'll offer the cheap n dirty, saying that if you don't like the results, you can put that money towards a more expensive fix. That's honest, and it's practical. He had my car looking 90%, which I was satisfied with, in 2 hours. His estimates for the full job were the cheapest I could find amongst other highly rated body shops in the area. No-nonsense work, thanks Brian. -

Wow.
My insurance company had a very short list of approved body shops, and so I was petrified after my fairly major accident totaled the front end of my Matrix.
Side note: these new cars are designed to crumple around you to absorb impact... and HOLY CRAP do they ever!!!
The front of my car looked like a bendy straw after I had chewed on it whilst doing my taxes.
Brian was helpful in explaining the whole process of an insurance claim, and had my car back to me in wonderful condition, freshly painted and detailed ASAP. It think it was a total of 11 days.
He even held onto it for another 10 days because I was out of town when it was finally finished. No charge. Great guy. Super honest. -

Fast, friendly, trustworthy and fair. All are adjectives for the guy at this place. (I apologize for not catching his name)
Apparently there's some code with a lot of mechanics. This code is that The Book says a certain repair should take X hours. They charge for the given amount if the repair is equal or less than the amount of time stated in The Book. This is NOT how things go here. They charge only for parts and labor applied to your car. The actual price of this minor repair ended up being less than the original quote!
Working with the mechanic was a breeze. I think I spent more time walking to and from Allston Auto Body from my around the corner office than I did inside dropping off the car and key and paying after. Came here originally because they came highly recommended by a mechanic that doesn't do body work - and certainly will return for any future needs. -

My car was making a wonky squeaking noise and I noticed a loose piece of metal hanging off the frame. I logged onto Yelp in search of a local body shop to diagnose/fix the problem. I noticed a 5-star rating for a place right around the corner and decided to give them a call.
Here was my experience at Allston Auto Body, verbatim:
"Hi, I called earlier this morning about bringing my car in to have someone take a look at it?"
"Yup, I remember. What's the problem?"
[I describe squeaky noise and point out the loose bolt.]
"Oh yeah, I see the problem. Do you have 10 minutes?"
"Why yes, I DO have 10 minutes!"
::8 minutes later::
"Here ya go. All set."
"Oh my god, thank you. What's the damage?"
"Don't worry about it."
Talk about customer service. Damn Allston Auto Body. You're so money and you don't even know it.
Here's hoping I don't have another car-related issue anytime soon (knock on wood) but you can bet that if I do, I'll definitely be taking my business to these guys. -

Easy to find (right behind Shaw's on Comm Ave.), pleasant, straight-forward, down-to-earth service. I didn't feel like I was going to get ripped off here. Easy to work with, & my car looks great.

The April Fools Day storm wrecked my windshield wipers, and with rain in the forecast, I needed to have them fixed quickly. I called Allston Auto Body at 7:30 on a Monday morning, and was told to bring it on in. I left the car at 8:15, and settled in at a local coffee place to hang out until I got word about how difficult the fix was going to be, and how long it might take. less than an hour later (I hadn't even finished my latte!) I got the call that my car was ready. Ready? I hadn't even gotten a quote yet! I was pretty pissed as I walked back to the shop, fully prepared to be presented with a giant bill. But when I walked in, the owner smiled and explained that the fix was much easier than he thought, and that there would be no charge. A.MA.ZING. I will take my car here for all future repairs - I think these are good guys.

Fast, excellent body work. Courteous and easy to deal with. Blended new paint with the existing paint when I noticed--in sunlight--that it was not exactly identical. Now it matches perfectly (and there was no extra charge).

Great experience, especially for a body shop where the customer is always nervous about getting screwed over. The owner, John runs the place and is a fair person. They even detailed my car, inside and out before giving it back to me, which was a nice surprise.

I had a hole in the back of my Honda Odyssey minivan that required replacement of a few parts and painting. I tried World Autobody in Brighton and Brookline Village Collision on Waldo Street to get quotes but Allston Auto Body was over $200+ cheaper! The work was good, done faster than the others quoted, and I'm very happy with more money in my pocket.

I had a back bumper dent (created myself from backing into something) and had Brian look at it ... he gave me a couple of choices - to push it back out, see how it looked, if good enough - fine (or) to replace completely. I thought this was FANTASTIC! He didn't try to offer up a service / make money as much as "do the right thing" to service my car. We pushed out the dent, it looks good enough to go, and saved a lot of $ for the short term. That locked us in, if we ever need collision service again on our car - with all of the super reviews we read, and then our own experience - Allston Auto will be the choice! We would refer friends and neighbors here and also be a reference.
