I've been here completely wasted, I've been here at the beginnings and/or ends of very long car drives, and I've been here totally sober - at no time have I ever been disappointed with their ham & cheese croissants (except when they've run out). Donuts are decent too, especially in the wee hours when they're just coming out of the oven.

This place is seriously fucking weird on the late night. You can usually find a group of old Asian men chatting/yelling in their native tongue, a crazy homeless person kicking their feet up on the counter stools, silly t'weens sitting on each other laps trying to score to 3rd base, or just some random fools chugging a fat thing of milk and donuts.
If I weren't such a donut fanatic or nearby resident, I probably would never come here, but seriously.. you can't fade their glazed donuts with coconut sprinkles.. HELLA BOMB!!!
FREAKING WEIRD. Every time I come here there is your typical weird Vietnam Vet talking to him self with a cup of coffee, a group of Asian kids laughing playing on there cell phones, and a dirty pervert staring at your girl whispering something nasty. Maybe it's because I go on the late night tip when I crave sweets..
with that being said I'll take a sprinkle dough nut and a glaze twist.
Fresh donuts and even sandwiches in a pinch. The donuts aren't super amazing or anything, pretty standard and fresh, but this place gets 5 stars for being open 24 hours. I think it's quickly become my safety net when I need food at odd hours and my fridge is empty. You can always get a bagel or croissant sandwich for under $5. Also they have that awesome giant sign.
Clean donut shop with fresh donuts. This used to be Rolling Pin Donuts years and years ago when I was a child. I still like to come here when I'm in the area visiting my parents. I'm pretty sure I've tried every single donut they had (obviously doesn't do much for my cholesterol). My favorite is still the raised glaze.
Fresh donuts...24 hours a day...under a dollar per donut. This place has satisfied many of my late night donut and tea cravings. Yes...there's one on 9th and judah which is closer to me, but I'd rather make the drive to this one because their donuts taste better and seem fresher.
Awesome old fashioned and buttermilk donut. This place totally hits the spot late night when you are dragging your butt home from a long string of dive bars in the area.
Plus this place actually charges donut shop prices as opposed to the current donut/cupcake craze leading us to all drop 2+ bones for traditionally economical treats.

Ah, donut shops. The last bastion of black coffee and unironic orange-and-brown decor.
This is only the third Bay Area donut shop I've been to after Roger's in Mountain View and Rolling Pin...and so far there is no clear winner. (Granted, while some people have a donut-describing vocabulary that rivals that of a wine connossieur, all I can really do is vary the number of m's in "mmmmm"). As usual I got the one-two punch of a dense, sinfully glazed old-fashioned and a pillowy regular donut with some maple glaze.
Unfortunately I've never made it to one of these places early enough to get something right out of the oven. However, if you take the donuts home and stick them in your toaster oven for a few minutes, it's almost as good. Note that if you do this with a glazed donut, you need to watch the toaster carefully. When the whole thing goes up in flames, the donut's done.

It was sixty degrees and sunny on Thanksgiving morning in the Inner Richmond, when I stopped to order a small coffee and a tasty apple fritter at a remarkably inexpensive coffee shop on the corner of 10th and Clement--the huge old marquee-style sign on the outside simply read "DONUTS." You could see the thing from three blocks away. Turns out the place is called Allstar. Plate glass windows lined both sides of the exterior. I claimed the lone empty stool at the window overlooking Clement Street, sitting sandwiched between two retired gents reading Chinese-language newspapers, one with a plastic bag for a briefcase. He may have turned his back to me, but the bag greeted me with a kind "Have a Nice Day." The sign above the office door directly across the street read "Dennis Fong Tometrist." The resident freaky bearded street guy wearing a tattered dark blue hooded sweatshirt stood guard outside, pacing about, mumbling to himself but never hassling the seniors and kids who passed by. Despite being crowded to capacity, the room remained surprisingly void of conversation, as tranquil as the clear morning sky visible to the north, beyond the 7-11 store on the opposite corner.
I returned the next morning to enjoy a sweet and gooey coffee roll. They offer a wide variety of coffee, the likes of which you wouldn't expect at a little local place. And the fact that they are open 24 hours in a part of town where places tend to shut down ealry, really floats my boat.

Good news: open 24 hours, probably of the only in the Inner Richmond aside from the 7-11 across the street. They make and sell fresh, tasty donuts onsite, which go well with their chai, hot chocolate and coffees.
Bad news: the creepiest, drunkest patrons know this too.
Try the donuts - they're really good and cheap by the dozen. Looks like they make the donuts fresh right in the back. They have chai tea, but only 2 or 3 flavors, and they're usually out of the other 2. Opt for good old hot chocolate with your donut instead. Or snag a cold bottled drink from their fridge.
Has a sit down area - eat the goodies with your friends, or forgo the creepy late night company and take it home.

I am personally not a fan of donuts.
Not because I am some anal wench who does not like to partake in sweets. Or that I am in the throes of anorexia. Its just that my big butt would pay homage to some sort of doughy fluffy god and I could not do that, so I usually veer away from them.
But in this case, a group of us were wandering around from a short bar crawl (I've noticed as I've gotten older, so have the hours spent out socializing) the 24 hour evidence was too alluring to dismiss. Four tired but hungry-for-a-snack girls piled in.
Well, coffee is typical, but at least it was not burnt. And it definitely jump start my energy around 2:00 am. The kinds of donuts sampled were as follows:
Old-Fashioned: Crunchy thin layer on the outside gave way to a thicker denser warm and thick bread on the inside.
Maple-Bar: Big and thick, like a log. Fluffy on the outside, with a layer of sweet sugary maple frosting.
Glazed Twist: Again, big and thick, thin crispy outer layer glazed with a sugary coat.
In all, the coffee did a good job of melding with all that sweetness and we left, feeling better and ready for the drive home.

Don't get the apple fritter or blueberry turnovers. They have just too much sweet, juicy, slightly citrusy fruit for one to consume. Seriously.
(heehee, then there's more for me!)

I gotta move. Living by here is making me fat. The donuts are nothing special but the place seems clean and they are always open. How am I supposed to avoid a chocolate old fashioned for 65 cents? Screw you homeless guy with that weird eye but my change is for my donut! Oh such fried , chocolaty goodness! But it goes straight to the belly and doesn't seem to come off. I look horrible. Good thing I have a great personality.

This is a nice little place. 24 hrs. Clean and pleasant on the inside, unlike some of the run-down places downtown. They have really good coconut donuts and the bavarian creme is pretty tight too. I call the place "Don TS", because thier sign was partially burnt-out for a little while there.

If you're looking for great donuts, this is the place. They always has the freshest donuts in San Francisco, any hour of the night. I think that they make theirs in smaller batches. They might not have all of the kinds you want when you walk in, but the ones that they do have are fresh... they haven't been sitting there all day. It doesn't matter if I go in there at 5pm or 3am, the donuts are always light, fluffy and tasty. And it's not in a sketchy part of town.

I can't fault the freshness. The icing was still warm on the chocolate old fashioned I tried. They're just not as good as Bob's. The place is clean, it's open 24 hours, it's just that the donuts are good not great. If you're eating donuts everyday, that probably doesn't bother you, but if they're a once in a while treat, you probably want to indulge yourself with a great donut.
For all you coffee and donut addicts here is a money saving spot for you!!
Latte for $2.00, yes!! and it's good too. Starbucks and Peets, NOT but still good and if you buy a donut hole or two you will always get an extra one in the bag, well at least I do!!
Che and his wife are profit sharing with the retail space owner so you will see them there from 3:00am until Noon daily. Busting their hump trying to make a living.
So I give them the big high five.
Fresh donuts and coffee, all hours of the day. There's a strange comfort in knowing that it's there, waiting for a donut craving to strike, ready to satisfy. The prices are reasonable, the decor is bright and clean, and the service is prompt.
Four stars because it always satisfies those late night cravings. They make em all night, too!
