Most fun that I've ever had in a corporate outing, but they really should have a weight class. A 150lb go-kart definitely accelerates and handles differently with a 100lb person than it does with a 200lb person.

I've been to Allsports a number of times over the past few years and it is a great place to go and enjoy some real go-karting. The karts have real power and real handling. The track is enjoyable but challenging. The best part is that it is indoors, so you can go racing any day no matter what the weather.
My first time at Allsports was for a corporate event and we did a 80 minute team race and that was a blast. Nothing quite like having the track all to yourselves as a group. When I have been back individually I've also enjoyed the time but I can also appreciate some of the comments from other reviews (annoying wait times, issues with other drivers and their experience levels, etc).
Yet, this is a great place to go and do a multi race session (I say that because unless you go all the time it will take you a few races to get into the groove with the kart and the track.) Also, it is worth looking into getting a membership after you try and place out and enjoy it because it does lead to good financial benefits. Finally, as I mentioned above, it is a great place to hold a group event and take over the track if you can put the numbers together.
My suggestions would revolve around Improvements to the online environment so that you could more easily track your sessions over time. Also, so that it would be easier to make reservations and block out specific time at the track. It would also be nice to not have to go through the safety video each time you attend if you have had previous experience. I hear what people are saying about the employees not necessarily being the most responsive, but for me my focus when I go to Allsports is to race and once I can get past the registration process then I don't have to deal with it anymore. It would be nice to get an improvement in that department but it's not a limiting factor for me (unlike a restaurant where a bad waitstaff can ruin a good meal).
All in all, it is a great way to spend a few hours getting some real racing experience. I say that I'm not sure if this is a good event for kids because the karts are truly powerful and if they are not respected it can cause issues. The last time I was there some 40 year old "kid" purposefully crashed into me and I enjoyed a nice bruised ribcage for the next few weeks. -

Pricey and disorganized. Unfriendly girl at the front desk. Don't think she cracked a smile once as NINE of us checked in. You work at a Go Kart place. Make the best of it, sweetheart. She is young and needs to work on her customer service... it ain't gonna get any better for you.
When you come with a group, you can't make a reservation. Our group waited an hour and a half. And I saw others wait longer. We even called an hour before to inquire about when it would be free since we were driving out there from 45 minutes away.
There is virtually nothing to do while you wait too. They have a couple vending machines, a dated playstation, and you can watch strangers race.
It was fun once we got in the cars. I only did one race because it cost me $31 for 8 minutes and I didn't want to spend almost $100 for 24 minutes. I'd rather get a one our massage or rent a jetski.
The group did have fun but this place really needs to be more organized. Get a sign up sheet. Create something online. Bring some order so your clients aren't waiting for over an hour. And if you must have them sit around, give them something to do. Have magazine available, a TV, snacks, ... something! -
Review from Shachi B.
Came here for a company bonding event and we had a blast. We had the track all to ourselves, which made it a lot more fun. The go karts are nothing to joke about - this isn't the type of place to goof off since they have people monitoring the track at all time to make sure no one gets hurt. Also, during the warm up lap, make sure you check your brakes - mine failed as I came around and I ended up hitting someone hard. All while the track monitors watched helplessly. No bueno.
The jumpsuits and helmets are a little icky (ditto for the helmet sock and gloves) so be sure to wear jeans if you're a germaphobe. Also, it gets HOT in there, so don't wear too many layers!
Overall, a great time!Listed in: Co-Worker Bonding

I went here last night with a group of 5 and had an absolute blast! This isn't a place to go when you're on a tight schedule; we waited at least an hour to finally race but had a blast watching the other races and looking at the racing memorabilia on the walls. The first race was sort of a waste because we were all new to the go karts and had to get used to how to drive them, but after one race we had a pretty good hang of it.
The good:
- The races are pretty affordable with all the deals they have. Forget date night with dinner and a movie... save your money and go here instead! Way more fun!
- At the end you get your results to see how fast you went, where you finished, etc. In both of our races, the names didn't match correctly so just pay attention to the number of the car you're in.
- Once you get over the shock of the outfits (they're old and kind of gross...) they're actually sort of fun! Really helps you to get in the racing mood and great for photo ops.
- The race supervisors make racing very safe; pay attention to the safety video at the beginning so you know what the flags mean!
The bad:
- The schedule online isn't the most reliable. Be safe and call Allsports ahead of time to make sure the track is available for walk-ins.
- I'm not sure how their computer system arranges the race participants, but our group got split up in one of the races. Wasn't a deal-breaker by any means for us but something to be aware of if you're going with a group and want to do every race together.
- Racing a regular cart with the Super Karts (the faster carts; only members who hit certain lap times are eligible to race them) was sort of annoying. They basically have the right of way so when they come up behind you the course supervisors will instruct you to allow them to pass (or, if you're competitive like my boyfriend, you intentionally block them...).
Final say: A fun, different way to spend several hours. Go with a good attitude and when you have plenty of time to kill. If you're a germophobe, this probably isn't the place for you. Can't wait to go back! -

Allsports would be a hole lot of fun if it's management wasn't half assed and completely rude. The dark haired girls with skunk like blonde streaks behind the desk was less than helpful on the phone and her bad attitude was even more potent in person. The supposed wait time became increasingly longer and when we requested a refund the skunk haired girl had told another employee it "sounded like a personal problem to her" unaware of the fact that my wife was right outside the door after deciding we'd wait our turn. The one girl was nice enough but the other was enough for us never to come back and tell our friends not to waste their time as well.

I checked online to make sure they didn't have any events booked before I made the 45-minute trip there, but was turned away. An event had been booked and Allsports had failed to update their website due to an "error". Allsports didn't offer a coupon or anything else to compensate me for the time I had wasted. Poorly run business. I won't be back.

First of all this place is NOT a place where you want to be bumping karts. Spin someone out and you could seriously injure them or one of the marshals as they spin out at almost 40 mph into a barrier.
This place is absolutely awesome. I came here based on the $30 groupon and I will definitely be coming back. I loved it!
They have a very sophisticated electronic timing system, and times are instantly posted on their website. They also have a qualifying time for the more powerful 9hp karts, which are a little bit faster.
The track itself is very tight and requires a little bit of experience to navigate the turns at a high rate of speed. This is definitely not one of those amusement park go kart tracks. All of the karts (in the same class) are very evenly matched in performance, so it's not like there's one fast kart that kicks everyone's butt. You will definitely need to use the brakes. Very well maintained, and a blast. My arms are still sore from 3 days ago. The little kids kept beating me because they have a 100 lb advantage over me. But not by much....

First the good: I've been to this place 7-8 times over the last 2-3 years and it is always a ton of fun. The karts are fast, the competition is a nice mix of adults and kids of varying skill sets, and the facility is well kept. The track is simple with no elevation changes, but it is in a limited space (small warehouse) and the layout is pretty good given the tough dimensions. They do let the fast karts race alongside the regular karts which doesn't make any sense based on the tight confines of the track. Most of the people I've raced with just race the regular karts because of this. Still, the racing is always a blast and fun for young and old, novices and experienced karters.
Now here is why I'm pissed: They keep a nice calendar online so you can see in advance if the track is booked, or open for drop in business. I live about 45 minutes away so I check this religiously to make sure I'm not wasting about 2 hours of time getting there and back. I'm married with young kids so the chances of me getting out to race are usually somewhere between slim and none. Also, I'm a kid at heart so I really get pathetically excited to do this. I checked today non-stop to make sure the track was open this evening. Hmm, I think you know where this is going.
So right before I leave my house at 6:30 I check online for the 23rd time today to make sure there are no special events going on at the track tonight. Their calendar is wide open, all green = perfect. I'm on my way.
After battling a bit of DC rush hour I excitedly pull up to Allsportsgp about 7:30 only to hear, "Oh, sorry. The track isn't open. We had a last minute event booked. There was a bit of miscommunication with one of the manager's and the staff."
Me: "I'm sorry, what was that?
Girl at desk: "Yeah, you'll have to come back another time."
Another couple looking to race walked in with me, and they apparently had driven an hour as well and also were turned away and just as crushed as I was. For a place that has to battle so many other entertainment options in the DC area, that was unacceptable customer service. At the very least we should have been given a voucher for something nominal off our next visit. Or they should have just let us race with the group. The more people racing, the more fun it is. But no, they chose the worst option and just said goodbye.
The saddest part is that this place offers the only karting in the DC area and is really the only option for us closet racers. I really do love coming here. For a point of comparison I grew up outside of Boston and there is a much bigger, nicer, better karting facility in Braintree that puts Allsportsgp to shame. I've been to that track 15-20 times too so I feel like I know what I'm talking about. But now I live in DC, and it's still all about the racing, and Allsportsgp will cure that competitive fix (assuming they aren't booked).
I will definitely be back because I have nowhere else locally to go to get my karting fix, but I have to ding them big for this screw up tonight. Allsportsgp, please don't treat your customers like this. -

Attention all Road Ragers! Come take out your aggression on the tracks! Or just come and get some kick-ass-adrenaline-pumping endorphins into your system!
One round is $25 / per person, and additional races are $18.00/ per race. One of the more reasonable prices in the area.
The place gets a bonus point for the cool racer uniforms provided. Uniforms are colour coded by size, so us SM racers are stuck with the fun eye-popping purples/reds/yellows. Mediums are cool blues. And Large & XL are stylish blacks.
They also get a thumbs up for free water @the water cooler station.
And either a thumbs UP or thumbs DOWN depending on your personality & preference for BUMPING. Here, there is NO bumping allowed. Booooo...i like a little a bit of madness when I'm racing; shake things up a little ....
There is a 5 minutes instruction video pre-racing. The mandatory Do's and Don't's.
Pros: Free Water. Racing equipment included (uniform/helmet/gloves). Reasonable Price. Print outs of each race results available for everyone. Friendly.
Depending on your package, the winners get Gold Trophies!!!! For real!!!!!!
Cons: Can't make reservations. Can't Bump. Aside from rules, instructions for first timers is next to nill. (example, they don't explain which car is yours). (And you don't know when you're up). You kind of have to watch the group before, and follow lead.

OMG you HAVE to go do this! I say this at the risk of sounding like a texting 17-year old, but honestly, it's how I feel!
I set up a surprise race day for my husband's b-day here, and invited 6 friends to join us. We had such a total blast, we are already talking about when we'll do it again.
In order to explain why were headed out into nowheres-ville, I lied to hubby and told him we were going to the Udvar Hazy Air & Space Museum. However, when I "missed" the exit and kept going towards Sterling, he knew something was up. Imagine his surprise when we pull into a nondescript business warehouse district, and he sees and hears the go-karts screaming by inside! Double surprise when he sees our friends waiting inside for him. I asked if this was better than the museum, and he said "Oh YES, definitely!".
I had signed us up for a Mini Grand Prix -- this gave us 20 qualifying laps, which determine starting position for the real race, which is 40 laps. The whole thing took about 1.5 hours, and was $85 each.
To start, we filled out our waivers and got suited up in our flame-retardant jumpsuits, then got our safety briefing from owner Francois. This man has a full-on schtick that manages to give you the rules and some driving tips while getting you all pumped up to drive.
Then you head over and get a helmet and some gloves, and they put you into your go-kart. The whole thing is computerized, so they enter everyone's name in and you have to use the car the computer assigns you so they can keep track of your time. The qualifying race was all about getting used to the cart and learning the track. What a blast! The carts are really peppy and responsive, and the track is tough, with hairpin curves and some good straight-aways.
We took a break after the qualifying race to review our computer print-outs -- they are very detailed and show your time on every lap. We were all totally exhilarated, and ready to do our "real" race.
We thought 20 laps was a pretty long race, but the main race was twice as long. We hardly noticed though -- you are so absorbed in trying to drive more efficiently and get better times that every lap just flies by (literally!). All too soon we were flagged back into the pit.
More printouts, and the results are posted on the TV monitors. Yay! My husband came in third, which means he got a trophy. They gave us a full-on trophy ceremony, and we responded with lots of cheering. How did I do? Let's just say I didn't come in last. I still had SOOO much fun.
I'll just add that everyone at Allsports was extremely helpful and nice, and were committed to making sure we all had a good time. They let us split the final cost so that everyone paid part of it, hence getting that big lump sum off of my credit card. Thanks so much Allsports! -

Left, right. Yellow smoke. Left, right. Orange smoke. Left, right. Red smoke. Speed burst! Red turtle shell yessss.
If you don't feel like a real-life MarioKart-er while playing here, you haven't lived. Seriously, before we get to the review - go play like 70 hours of MarioKart.
I came here recently with our little bachelor party (the other part of the day, Hogback Paintball: http://www.yelp.com/bi...). In short, we had an absolute blast the whole day.
We did the private group Mini Grand Prix event. They started us off with some paperwork, a quick talk about the course and the rules, and then we were quickly out to the track in our little borrowed jump suits. We donned gloves and helmets, climbed into our little cars, and took off on a 25 lap qualifying race - fastest lap went first in the real race. Then it was on to a 40 lap endurance test. At the end, we were sweaty, exhausted, and a little sore. And we all had perma-grin.
The guys manned the course responsibly, helping us if we got stuck, keeping us safe, and making sure we weren't horsin' around too much (just enough). The cars are pretty fast - apparently up to 35mph. If you race a lot, you can apparently unlock faster cars. Yum.
One guy in our group had to quit early because the big greasy meal he'd just put down wanted to come back up. He rested on the big comfy couch in the air conditioning and tried to not look directly at the big screen TV showing dizzying camera angles of a motorcycle race. Another guy (his brother) felt a little funny at the end, but did get through it. So if you have a delicate constitution, be warned.
We left saying we'd love to come back, and that it's totally worth the price for the occasional treat. So if you haven't treated yourself in longer than 'occasionally' ... then ... well, it's time. -

Allsports Grand Prix has great fast karts and a decent track. I have been to several other indoor serious karting businesses in the USA and Canada. These are not karts to bump or crash into people with. These are detuned racing karts. Look for video of racing karts online. Everyone should try it but show up knowing this is about driving and racing fun not carnival bumper car fun.
Allsports is in the top quarter of karting businesses. The karts are well kept and even have adjustable seats. This is a rare thing and big plus over the other kart spots I have been to. The protective gear doesn't smell. The staff manages the process well which is a big plus compared to other kart businesses.
My crew of 6 had a great time! We ran 3 back to back races for $60 total. A little expensive but insurance for Allsports must be insane, so understandable. The key to getting around the track is driving the kart in slides through all corners. Get aggressive, try, experiment, and smile at the checker flag. -

I drive like an asian woman. I also haven't owned a car in about 10 years so my driving skills are pretty rusty. So when given the opportunity to hit up the indoor racetrack at Allsports Grand Prix in high speed go-karts, I immediately said "Hell Yea!" I called one of my partners in crime who I knew would appreciate how hilarious seeing me race tiny go-karts would be, and off we went.
The track is in a non-descript warehouse in the middle of nowhere (at least to a District dweller like me). But as you get closer, you hear the engines revving and you see the racetrack... I felt seriously giddy in a way that I haven't felt since Cedar Point unveiled the Magnum XL 200 (only those from the midwest will understand why this is such an impactful statement). As the sarety video says, these are not your average bumper cars.
After waivers, finding yourself a pimpin' fire retardant suit (mine was a sexy purple, but you could get orange, blue, and black depending on your size), you watch a rather amusing safety video which gives the rules of the track. Then they give you DOT approved motorcycle helmets, a head sock, and gloves. If you have biking gloves, you should bring your own. These gloves are one size fits no one because they are huge and floppy and they don't care if you use your own gloves. But, theirs are fireproof, so thats something to consider.
We had a huge group and we did it in heats, with 8-10 drivers per heat. Other than recalling that the tank of gas between my legs and that the poor guys would be really sad if their kart caught on fire, I don't remember much other than careeening around turns and trying my best not to crash into anyone. Only two minor accidents, our group did well. These karts get up to 35 mph but I don't think I got near there because you have to already have a pretty decent amount of speed going into the straightaway and well, I think I mentioned I drive like an asian woman. I think only one person got sent to the penalty box for doing bad things.
But it was a blast, and your times are ready on a printout as you get out of your cars. Spectators can watch the times as you go. Next time, I want to learn how to drift like the elite go-karters ...Listed in: Adrenaline Junkies Galore!

Fancy yourself a good driver? Head on over to Allsports and test your skills at one of the only indoor karting tracks in the area. This isn't your pseudo Ocean City go kart carnival attraction that little Johnny can jump in and drive ... this is the real deal.
Yeah, you gotta wear a race suit. Yes, you will put on the damn head sock and strap on a helmet. And no, you can't drive in your flip flops or six inch black stilettos. Lucky for us Allsports provides everything you need, right down to the karting 101 video that you must watch if you're a first timer (and of course, you gotta sign your life away).
The karts are fast, the track is fun and 9 times out of 10 you'll walk off the track with a grin on your face. Then you'll get a nice printout that will remind you how slow you really are. But before you know it, you'll be talking about the "racing line, trail braking and hitting the apex" and you'll be itching for another run.
And bring your credit card -- cause the racing ain't cheap. But it sure beats the hell out of bowling. -

I used to work there for the longest time when I was younger..
I have to say it's the best place if you have time to waste and want to do something fun and competitive..
It's vigorous, however. Should you wear your flip flops.... No, don't race, You'd definitely lose those and I still doubt you will be allowed to race. If you have your own racing suit, you'd want to bring it with you..Trust me ;). To make your best time it actually does matter when it comes to weather, the hotter the track the slicker it is the better your time.
Have fun at the track but it can be a little pricey if you don't watch out ;) -

All I wanna do is a zoom-a-zoom zoom...
Racers start your engines! How is it I've lived near this place for 3 years and never been here? Talk about missing out! This place is tucked away in an industrial complex that's off the beaten path.
I came with a group and after getting suited up (NOT HOT racing suits, by the way, unless you get the color black with the red lettering!), we watched a safety video. After it was over, we were ready to rock and roll.
We looked at the monitors to check and see who was in what heat. After putting on gloves, head sock and a helmet, we got in the karts.
The first thing I noticed was how slippery the track was . Once I got a feel for it, the brake and the gas pedal, it was ON. This ain't the fairgrounds; no bumping or intentional horse play is allowed. The karts are flared in the back and as such, are wider there than in the front. This is important to remember as you take the corners. All in all, there's no way you can roll one of these, so just go for it and exercise basic caution.
After our laps were over, we got computerized print outs of how each group member had done. Each racer could see how many laps were completed, which one was their fastest lap, lap times and overall score.
Little on the expensive side for 8 minutes, but as an occasional expense it is worth every bit of it.
Good times. -

One of the best places ever.
Not only is this place a lot of fun, it's well-run and maintained.
Don't confuse this with "bumper cars"--it's racing! You're given a helmet, gloves and fire suit and, after a brief instructional video, are put into some pretty quick cars to navigate the turns of the indoor track. It's a lot of fun.
A computer system keeps track of your lap times during the race, and all drivers are given a printout of their lap times at the end. Very cool.
Great for a quick race, or a large group event. Definitely something to check out! -

Think you're the king (or queen for that matter) of the road?
Go find out. Excellent place for team building (or team breaking, if you kick your bosses butt).
I'm not quite good enough to get the elite kart (you have to beat a certin lap time) but when I do... All I gotta say is watch out.
Learn how to drive racing lines, and apex your turns. It helps out quite alot. with time around the track. And maybe bring a hair brush along if you have lots of hair... because the head sock you have to wear makes for an interesting after karting do. -

Went with a group and did the Mini Grand Prix ($90 per person). The safety video is pretty funny, "black flag means you did something BAD!!!" They also flag you if someone's trying to pass, which I thought was a silly because...why would you let them pass? It's a race! Even if you're going slower, the point is to keep the other guys behind you, right? Anyhow, we got to do 20 practice laps, then 40 laps to win for the actual race. The time went by a lot quicker than I expected. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners get trophies.
It was a fun experience and without a doubt this place is unique so extra stars for that, but would I do it again for $90? No. Even if I wanted to I couldn't right now because my arms and back are so sore. But I still think everyone should try this once!
*FYI--My foot kept slipping through the pedal so at times I couldn't accelerate or break. Ladies, you need to pull down the metal bars on the pedal to make it more like a pedal instead of a bar (you'll see what I'm talking about). None of the employees bothered to point this out to us. -
Review from Nicole L.
I got here somewhat late so there was only one race left. It cost about $25 to race 15-20 rounds for 10 minutes. They gear you up with an overall, show you the circuit and give you gloves and a scalp cap to keep the helmet hygienic. The go-karts worked great and you can go pretty fast as long as you dont bump into others or the barriers. They also have corporate events like mini-grandprix along with trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd placements. Awesome!!

I went with a bunch of my friends from work to do this. They will set up groups so you can race each other in heats and even have a place where the VICTORIOUS can be crowned the winner. It's lots of fun. If you like racing or want to take go-karting to another level...this is the place to go.

I call myself a go kart driver but the level of difficulty on this track is way above that of any fairgrounds track. These karts make you feel like you are actually driving an Indy car. They are fast and require a high skill level. If you like the karts at the fair or bumper cars then this place may not be for you. If you want a really place to test your skills with your friends then you need to check it out. It is a little on the pricey side but for the amount of time and fun it is worth it.

Not your typical go-karts! They have two levels of models, both an upgrade to most go-karts featured at indoor tracks. My fiance is into racing and never stopped pointing out little features that would make any speed loving adult feel like a kid. They give you a full video tutorial, fire suit, head sock, gloves, and helmet. I work around the corner and know a lot of racing fans that love this place enough to sneak over on lunch breaks. It's great for large groups and can accommodate private events with call ahead. At the end of each race, you're provided with a print out breaking down your time for each lap. Enjoy at your own risk- it can be addictive!

I havent been on a go-kart since I was 12. But get this straight, these are not go-karts, they are real racing karts. So without much to compare it to I have to say I had the best time. You sign in, get fitted with a race suit, and watch the safety video. After all that is done, the rest is just fun. Our group went with the mini grand prix which included a qualifying round where we were racing to set the poll and for most of us, get used to the karts and the track. Follow that up with a 40 lap race that had a real staggered start. Track employees are watching at all time to make sure everyone is being safe, and have a series of flags to tell you everything from, get over slow poke to stop running into things. No one in our group got one, but they have a black flag for trouble makers, and a sin bin where you must go and sit for a few moments if you are black flagged.
The next day I had muscles in my back and shoulders aching that I dont think I use very often. Next time I'm going to get my stretch on. -

Open wheel racing, a closed indoor circuit, up to 35 mph, you get to wear a helmet with a head sock and a racing suit to make you look official--this is every boy (or girl) racer's w3t dream. I love it here. So much so that if you're a complete stranger and want to challenge me to a race, I just need you to tell me the time and place. (I'm a poet, didn't know it.) Now, this is not your typical go-kart joint. First of all, it's run by a former Formula 1 driver, and he's passionate about racing. You will be going really, really fast, hence the helmet and a safety briefing prior to you stepping foot into the go-kart. It's also about $25, which is probably 5 times moreso than the rinky dink 5 mph go-kart at a carnival or something. There are also racing metrics, for you stat-heads out there. It's a lot of fun. The drive over, too, has a Ferrari and Lambo dealership, which is good eye-candy to round out that feeling that you're a legit race car driver... even though we all know you're not. Haha.
