We ate at Allium for Mother's Day and then again this weekend for our anniversary. Mother's day brunch (typically poor fare at most restaurants and the worst time to try a new restaurant) was very good. My husband and I tried it for a regular menu dinner last night and were pleased. We had the fries in duck fat and rosemary (this is on the menu in Olympus, btw) and tuna tartar. Both delicious. We shared two entrees, the Duck and the seared scallops. The scallops were perfect, melt in your mouth savory perfection. The duck was also very good. The waitstaff was friendly and fun, attentive without being annoying.

They have a Sunday Neighborhood prix-fixe menu that we absolutely will try soon.

Please don't let this culinary gem die in restaurant-cursed West Linn. Go. Eat like a Greek God would if they had access to duck fat and rosemary fries.

Allium is one of the true loves of my life. i just relocated to the West Linn area from Hollywood, and Allium is the best part about this small town living. I have dined at this immaculate establishment nearly 10 times, and everything stirs my fancy.

The most top notch dishes by far are the duck, the pork chop, and the risotto. The duck, mon Dieu, the duck! One of the best dishes of my life. The duck varies in accompaniments, and if you can snag the onion tart, by all means do! The pork chops are never dry, and the risotto is so flavorful it makes me sob.

    I passionately love Allium.

The happy hour is swell too, but it does not hold a candle to the main menu. The happy hour is the platinum blond half-brother to West Linn's raddest restaurant.

The duck, mon Dieu, The duck!

Gourmet french fries cooked with bacon fat and melted shredded cheese or perhaps duck fat and rosemary: I devoured those things and picked at the crumbs, and that's just the appetizer.  Of the times I've been here, the food was always a definite 5 stars.

I discovered this place with my friend from a Groupon deal and have been stalking the site for more discounts for this place.  Last month they had a deal on Facebook for a free appetizer (MORE FRIES!).

The restaurant is a bit on the noisy side, but not disruptive.  The menu seems to change frequently and while this keeps things new and fresh, it seems when I find a favorite, it's rotated off the menu.  Still, I have yet to have a bad meal at this place, so trying out the new things is part of the fun!

Save room for dessert because the fresh beignets are exquisite.

    Food: 5
    Service: 5
    Ambiance: 4
    Value: 4
    TL;DR: Get the fries!

I'm warming to this place, so I've increased to 3 stars. We'll see what happens next time....

Anyplace that has paella on the menu is worth a try in my book.  BUT, you have to really meet my paella standards (unmatched by my own recipe!).  My husband had the paella, and I had the rib eye steak.  Fabulous-- BOTH!   We also added a couple of appetizers.  I highly recommend the heirloom tomato salad, although I'm assuming it's a seasonal offering.  My husband had the oysters and loved them.  Both beautifully served and wonderfully met my palate expectations.  The few watermelon slices added to the tomato, basil and mozzarella salad was a pleasant and surprising addition.

Wine menu-- not as varied as I'd like, but did find a good French Bordeaux.  I switched to it after the Spanish Tempranillo.

    Atmosphere- beautiful, quiet, romantic.

    Staff-attentive and pleasant.

Overall we had a fabulous Friday evening and will definitely return.

    Great happy hour!!!

I have driven by here many times in the evening after work, and it always looks pretty busy...after reading the reviews on Yelp, we had to see for ourselves the good, the bad, the ugly!  Seriously, I do not know why some of them were so harsh, here's my take on Allium......
We went for HH on a sunny Tuesday eve after work.....ahhhh what a great way to destress and unwind from the work day, sittin in the sun, sippin on Cosmos and sharing small plates!
The food- excellent, oysters- fresh, muscles- melt in your mouth delishisness, the fries with aioli and the $5 burger- awesome!
The waitress was friendly and explained the food on the menu, naming a few of her favorites. This is great to hear when you are trying a new place!
Overall, a great spot, I would like to try their Sunday dinners with wine sometime!
    Allium is All- yum!

First off, we've always been treated well at Allium.  Everyone has been attentive, thoughtful and good natured and without hovering.  Hovering drives me nuts.  (Exaggerated for effect.)
Some reviewer here mentioned the fries in duck fat and the burger.  They are both really good.  I do wish that they (and everyone) would salt the fries less.  We can always add some salt but you can't really remove it.  So ... please?
Since we live in West Linn, and there have been Groupons, and because we like Allium, we've eaten there quite a lot.  There was one pretty dull filled pasta dish but that's about the only low spot that I can think of.  I could have sent it back but it wasn't terrible.  It was just unexciting.
Anyway, try this place.  It's a nice room, the food is good and much of it local.  The wine list is varied and decent.  Give them a shot.

Not bad. Pretty good, actually.  The service was very good.  The wine advice worked out well.  The salad and main dishes were definitely worth the price.  Ambiance is quite nice. Quiet on the inside if you like it, and a few tables along the road outside if that's your cup of tea.

I wish there were more of these kinds of restaurants in the godforesaken suburbs.  For some inexplicable reason, restaurant owners continue to favor the east side of Portland than locate their restaurants in the more affluent suburbs where a ready and willing (and financially able) clientele resides.

I'm looking forward to my next visit.  Will be bringing along a couple of friends.

    OH Allium!

I have seen this place pop up in my searches of the area multiple times but always hesitated to visit, mainly because i just really wasn't sure what to expect.  I i can tell you right out of the gate this place is nice.  Living in Oregon City most of the time the restaurants in the area are something to desired.  Right in our back yard of Old Town West Linn there appears to be a shinning star.  We stopped in for happy hour and was please with the low priced happy hour menu and $4 cosmos and $4 house wines.  The tasty HH burger rivals any upscale restaurant in down town Portland.  The service was prompt and friendly.

    I'll be back.

Went to Allium expecting good things. Walked past several employees, none of whom said hi to my friend and I, even though the restaurant was nearly empty. We sat down at the bar, and instead of being helped, we watched two employees continue to chat with each other (they knew we were there - we had to say excuse me to get past them). My friend, who owns a very successful Portland restaurant, and I sat for 7 minutes without being approached then left. Booooo

My wife and I made Christmas Eve plans to have a nice dinner at Allium which is a local restaurant for us.  I had purchased a Living Social/Groupon a couple months back and thought I'd use it tonight.  No where on the coupon did it state any exclusions, so I assumed I could use it, but oh no.  The manager said that they couldn't accept it.  Huh?  We ended up spending over $90 on dinner, drinks and dessert and the coupon was for $40 off.  Needless to say this didn't go over well for me and to be honest I will find it extremely difficult to recommend or even go back to this establishment at this point.

As for the service and food.  Overall not bad.  My wife and I shared the beet salad which was very good, great flavor, but could have used more goat cheese.  For dinner, my wife had the scallops which was her first time having them and she said they were ok (they seemed a little undercooked to me), but she really like the mashed potatoes that came with them.  I had the sturgeon which was very good, but the dish had too much salt.  We decided to have dessert and we had the apple tart which was the best dish of the night.   Kudos to the pasty chef!  Nice way to end a mediocre dinner.  The service (by Clayton) was good throughout the dinner.

The atmosphere is nice.  What we found interesting was when they called today to verify that we were still coming to our reservation my wife asked if we could have a booth, but the hostess said they only reserved them for parties of 4, of course we were only a party of 2.  When we arrived there was a party of 2 that had just been seated in the booth near us and when they left, the next party that arrived and sat in that same booth was another party of 2.  Some advice to those that run Allium, don't burn your bridges especially when there are plenty of other fine establishments to choose from and if you say your booth seating is for a party of 4, keep it that way so those patrons who have asked for a booth but have been denied don't feel slighted.  I would not recommend this establishment.

So sorry! The ONLY thing this place has going for it is that it is cool on the inside (great feel!) that is it! We walked in and the gal, I think one of the owners) could barely greet us! Went for "Happy Hour" and found the menu to be a joke! The portions are awful and selections are even worse. The bartender was thinking he was funny, well, he wasn't. just a bit annoying. The drinks we weak and super small. Go somewhere else...really! I can not believe people go here and liked it! 2 star ONLY because of the "Feel" of the place inside! That's it....we live to dine out but this place will never be somewhere we would ever recommend!

This is the new restaurant of Chef Pascal Chureau (former owner/exec chef of Fenouil)& Ian Ragsdale (former chef de cuisine @ Fenouil).  Food was great and the restaurant is elegant, warm, and comfortable.  To try their signature drink, Allium, it tasted very close to an Asian soda that I grew up with.  For the ladies whom likes the pink, bubbly drinks, there is a peach drink that will suit your liking.  This place is classic Pascal, which I love.  It's a good thing it isn't too far from me!

And no, I do not work for them! I just like the food!

I decided to revisit this local hot spot to see if I could get a different experience from my first experience..  My husband and I came here for our 23rd anniversary and we both liked it alot.  I had the curry soup and salad and he had the pork loin which he really liked.  I loved the soup and the salad was also very very good.  The pork loin was very good but in my opinion the sauce was just too unusual for my taste.  My husband loved the sauce.  All in all we really enjoyed our evening.  Nice place for a special night out for sure.  It was jam packed when we were there.        They're doing something right.

We tried this place out using a http://restaurants.com gift certificate. We ordered the Seafood Paella and the Pan Seared Scallops. Both dishes were pretty good. The service was good and the dining area was comfortable. I don't have anything negative to say about the overall experience, but when we are trying to decide where to go for dinner, this place never comes up. Perhaps what they lack is a specialty or something in particular that is more memorable.

Been to Allium twice now and had similar experiences both times. Good service, good food and good value. Most of what we have had to eat was excellent with the exception of the cheese plate which was oddly unimaginative given that many of the dishes on the menu are very creative. It may sound odd, but one of the best things we've had was the hamburger with duck fat fries. A top shelf version of a classic burger.

The food here was delicious, we even kept talking about it days later.  There were 5 in our party, 2 ordered hamburgers, one ordered the duck and my friend and I ordered the ribeye.  I had asked for the steak to be split in the kitchen.  Well after we had ordered and eaten all of our appetizers our waiter comes back and says the chef will absolutely not split the meal for us.  It was surprising, most places will split and charge you for doing that which I am fine with.

Wow!  What a poor value... We spent over $90,00 that included  only one glass of 9.00 wine.  My sturgeion was so salty.. I couldnt eat it and returned it to the kitchen.  Based on the review... I wasn't the only person who has had this issue.  My husband had the chicken which was a hearty dish.  My sturgeon on the other hand was a small piece of fish (2X2 ) square.  Don't order it.... OVERPRICED.  The desserts were flavorless and not worth the calories.  How can a great chef serve such small portions and ridiculous prices?  Oh yea,  don't order the fries.  Nothing special even with truffle oil.  Paid 6.00 for fries and what a disappointment. Tasted like frozen fries the a hint of truffle.  Go to the Bisto in Newberg they serve fries with truffle oil to die for...

After enjoying the March Neighborhood Dinner, I went back for a regular dinner to use my Living Social coupon. I found the hostess and waitress to be very friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable about the food. I had the dungeness crab toast appetizer and it was one of the best presentations of crab I've ever had. There was a huge amount of crab, perfectly accented with aoili and arugula pesto. It allowed the crab to shine and was an appetizer large enough for two people.
For my entree, I had the scallops on top of pork belly on top of potatoes. The three scallops were perfectly cooked and seasoned, but I just need to admit I'm not a giant fan of pork belly. It was a nice dish, but I could have selected better.
For dessert I had the Banana Bourbon Sundae. Oh, momma, that's one decadent dessert sundae. Wonderful with every bite. And then I learn that today is the anniversary of the sundae, according to Google. Definitely big enough for two people to share.
So, after two trips to Allium, I think it's worth the trip. And if you live nearby, go often!

We're always looking for places in West Linn to eat and were excited to hear about this place.  We went through on a Friday night.  We had 6:00PM reservations but were running late so at about 5:30P, we called and pushed out the reservations to 6:30PM.  The hostess was very accommodating.  We arrived at 6:30PM and the place had started to fill up.  The hostess took FOREVER to answer the very basic question from the party of 2 in front of us (question:  "do you have any availability for two people for dinner this evening?").  Seriously, this took her five minutes to figure out and then another couple minutes to explain to the diners that there was space at the bar but not in the dining room.  We had a similar experience although were ultimately seated.

Our waiter, Joshua, was fantastic.  Their wine menu features a great selection of (mostly local) wines by the glass.  The menu was eclectic (my husband had a hamburger with truffle oil fries, I had a pine nut, goat cheese and pesto pizza) but very high quality and their dessert menu was great (I highly recommend the espresso bread pudding!).

The place was packed while we were there from 6:30-8:15PM, with many people waiting outside.  The only downside is that they left the doors open the whole evening and it got a bit chilly.

Portland food prices but also Portland quality in the suburbs.  We'll be heading back there!

Fenouil quality food in a more comfortable atmosphere. Staff are great. Definitely can do double-duty as both a nice place and neighborhood bistro. It is my go-to place when I don't know where else to go. And, on a sunny day, I take the backroads there and sit outside enjoying one of the excellent cocktails or (if I'm in a NA mood) a tasty Arnold Palmer. Go.

The spousal unit and I had dinner with another couple at this new bistro, this past Friday. And we were greatly impressed. Simple bistro cooking with excellent ingredients.  We started with a cheese plate appetizer, I had the fantastic mushroom soup, and we each had a different entree. Lamb Shank, roasted chicken, halibut and I had the flatiron steak. Great service, and a wonderful new addition to Willamette Village in West Linn..we'll definitely be back.

I would give this place a three stars but am taking one away because they seem to be wrighting there own reviews 32 filtered reviews most that are 5 stars and so over the top they're actually comical I recommend reading them there pretty funny even 3 and 4 star are overly positive

I really wanted to like this restaurant... this little village is quaint and needs a strong bistro.   Perhaps it's just growing pains, but our first visit was a real disappointment.  Dishes were uninspired and frankly I can make better myself.

    Roast chicken - avoid.  Bland.
Paella - fair.  I make better.
Oysters - good but tiny.  shallot dipping sauce fairly standard.
Crab bruschetta - best part of the meal.
Beer selection - unadventurous.  The run of the mill local brews, but B.J. Willy's across the street will get you Ninkasi.

Our waiter was good - friendly, knowledgeable.  But the food can't make up for it, sorry!

We'll try again in a few months.  For West Linn foodies, hope springs eternal that we'll get a place to replace Juan's (R.I.P.)

    Overpriced. Understaffed. Decent happy hour.

We went for happy hour and it was great...especially the lemon drops.  We haven't tried dinner yet.
