It makes a difference when your physician is trained to truly listen. To pay more attention to you than your chart. To take the time to get to know you as a whole person. DOs are trained to first consider the person within the patient. DOs believe there's more to good health than the absence of pain or disease. We strive to help patients be truly healthy in mind, body and spirit. We don't see patients. We see people. We are a full service Family Practice treating both Chronic and Acute medical diseases and conditions. We have many other services including Skin Cancer Screenings & dermatological surgery, women's health, Fall Prevention Evaluation, Geriatrics, Medical Weight Loss, Aesthetics with Botox & many other services to numerous to mention. Our 3 providers are currently accepting new patients.

unprofessional, Heartless, and do not care about patients. Only about a paycheck. Terrible communication.
I spoke with this office 4 times before my mothers visit and not once did they mention we had to arrive 1hr early to complete paperwork. I even called 2hr before her appointment and spoke with the receptionist asking if they had cancellations because I was in parking lot. She did not say anything at that time either. The receptionist was rude and did not care that we drove an hour for apt instead pushed us aside just like a number and said come back different day and make sure to come early to complete paperwork.... I was in shock that this Doctors office allowed there patients to be treated in such a careless heartless matter.
DO NOT recommend .Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sara S.Gainesville, FL02Nov 7, 2022
Imagine being scheduled for a 4pm appointment and confirming with the clerk over the phone to be there at 4pm, having several text reminders sent to be there at 4 pm, and receiving a reminder day of to confirm your 4pm appointment. Then getting your 4pm appointment canceled by the clinic at 3:43pm that day bc you were not there at 3:30pm for the appointment that was scheduled for 4pm.
Faith (nice clerk on the phone) informed me that the provider (Tammy Williams) told her to "cancel last minute" bc I was not there at 3:30. I kept asking why since my appointment was CLEARLY scheduled for 4pm. Faith informed me Tammy Williams told her this information last minute bc Tammy Williams needed to leave early. Wtv the case was-- the office staff should have communicated expectations prior to 15 minutes before the scheduled appointment time (4pm). Major RED flags. This place obviously does not care much for patients' time or clear communication. Recommend avoiding and going to a clinic that respects your time and can communicate clearly when to show up.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chuck S.Gainesville, FL996Sep 6, 2020Updated review
I put off my annual check-up for 5 months, but I'm thankful Dr. Branin did not give up on me. Annual check up was very thorough and included discussions about every major challenge physically and mentalIy that I face on a daily basis. Bruce then made recommendations for additional steps to take with a return visit in 4 months.
I highly recommend Bruce and his Alliance Family Physicians. Great bedside manor...thoughtful...and a clearly communicated follow plan. csHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Thanks Chuck!
Oct 11, 2017Previous reviewI have been a patient for 15 years and have always received world class professional care from Dr. Branin and his staff. Would not consider going anywhere else.

This review is a direct response to the review from Denise H. in 11/2019, as there is no method to reply to her review:
All medicine refill requests are sent electronically to the prescribing provider, and if the prescriber has moved to another practice, the actual practice at which the patient receives medical care does not receive the refill requests.
Furthermore, the prescribing provider receives an electronic or faxed refill request or a phone call from the pharmacy requesting a refill. It is up to the prescribing provider to inform the pharmacy and to send all requests directly to the practice at which the patient actually receives care.
Due to PRIVACY and HIPAA laws, a provider may not obtain your current medication list from other providers without your consent to electronically import that into our chart.
When referring to a specialist, it is done to evaluate and treat patients, per the specialist's expertise. You were not sent just to have tests.
Medical offices that refer to specialists must await receipt of the specialist's reports. If a patient arrives for a visit and reports are still unavailable, a request is sent for the records. WHEN the specialist SENDS the records is unpredictable.
You were advised to contact the specialist to find out what he wanted to do to help TREAT you, as this was why you were sent there. That is precisely why no additional treatment was offered at the visit you mention in your review. Per your review, you did not mention this, and it is still unknown whether or not you did this. However, it is confirmed your pain has been addressed.
Regarding your statements that Dr. Branin isn't in the picture for the website and that it's just me, I recommend you look closely, as a huge and prominent picture of Dr. Branin is on his front page and one must go to the "providers" tab to see a picture of me and the P.A. who works there.
My recollection of our visits and specifically the conversation you mention about me complaining about "stacks of papers to review", etc. is entirely different than yours. I certainly informed you I spent a long time at home reviewing your chart and all my other scheduled patients charts either the eve before or the early morning of your visits, so that I was as up-to-date and prepared to give you the BEST possible care I could AT your visit. Most patients are THRILLED I prepare ahead of time for my visits! They feel like I care so much that I sacrifice time with my family and much-needed sleep for them! It is very disheartening that you would turn my good intentions into a vicious criticism of my personal character!
It is certainly distressing that you have ASSAILED me professionally as though you received horrible care, when I believe I gave you my ABSOLUTE best! I pride myself on being an excellent and caring provider and have NUMEROUS patients who agree and have followed me all over north Florida, many of them to Alliance Family Physicians, which is a long drive.
I certainly wish you the best in establishing care with another practice and hope your future relationship with your provider meets your needs and expectations. I believe Alliance Family Physicians and the entire staff are an EXCELLENT medical practice!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Shelley H.Miami, FL275252345Jun 27, 2011Updated review
I've been here many, many (way too many) times this year. June 6th Al Otero came back to the office, so any Al fans... you got your wish.
Dr. Branin is the main doctor here and he is just great! He has a great sense of humor and an eagle eye for suspicious freckles. I've had several removed and he has a 97% rate of accuracy in detecting cancerous spots! In other words, he doesn't need any fancy, expensive light to tell him if your freckle is likely to kill ya!
Oh, and now I have insurance they'll take! :) YAYHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Nov 2, 2010Previous reviewI would give them another star if they took my new insurance. I have been a patient for years & would go nowhere else until I got new insurance, which they don't accept.
Staff is very friendly & helpful... Always cheerful. I've seen Dr. Branin & Al Otero. Both are very patient, do not rush you, smile, and overall care about you while you are in their room. Al has gone over & above his call of duty to help me when I had serious medical issues.
I've brought in my mother, and husband & brother (both "do NOT go to the doctor"). Definitely happy with the care we receive. Definitely unhappy about insurance situation. - Amanda S.Gainesville, FL131021Dec 13, 2011Updated review
Update! McNamara is gone, they've got some lady named April or something, but Otero is back so I'm back to him.
Otero is great. I know some women are uncomfortable having men perform pap smears etc and I don't think I previously mentioned that he also does my gynecological exams and is VERY professional about it and doesn't make you feel uncomfortable in the least. Al is the best!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0Jan 30, 2011Previous reviewI now see Dr. McNamara instead of Otero at Alliance and have to give her 5 stars as well. Not only has she handled my psychiatric care (this sounds hardcore...), but also gynecological needs. My mom has seen her once and didn't care for her bedside manner, because she can be very soft spoken and a little quiet. But I find her to be very professional and understanding when it comes to serious matters. I would say Kathleen is more suited for "serious" people.
Mar 30, 2010Previous reviewWhile I don't know how all of the doctors at Alliance are, I can say that Dr. Urban and Otero (PA-C) are incredible. When I first got health insurance (finally) I knew the first place to look would be where my mom goes. My mom sees Dr. Urban and has found him to be warm and inviting. She never feels rushed and he focuses a lot on treating the problems, not the symptoms.
I, personally, see Al Otero because Dr. Urban wasn't accepting new patients at the time. I cannot recommend him enough. He's been so accommodating and is really willing to go out of his way to do everything to help a patient. He also has a great sense of humor and I definitely feel like I can trust him 100%
They also accept most insurances and have a very short wait time for appointments. - Kimberly D.Gainesville, FL3981Jul 7, 2016
Dr. Bruce Branin and the Alliance Medical Practice are excellent. They provider courteous, expedient and attentive healthcare. Dr. Branin takes the time to listen to your concerns and works with you for the most healthful resolution. I recommend this practice to many friends.

I have going to Dr Branin and Alliance Family Physicians for approximately 18 years. I receive top notch care and can get same day appointments if needed. Dr Branin takes his time in evaluating any problems and advises the best method to get the best results. Kathryn, Dr Branin's nurse is very courteous and has been an important part of my care. The front office and checkout personnel are very courteous as well. Recommend there services. Steve W.

I decided to change Dr's after experiencing rude behavior by the women who answer the phones and run the office. I had a situation where a nurse refused to fill a prescription of an anti-depressant, leaving me without medication for 3 days. Turns out I was bedridden and couldn't move or think clearly. I later found out my AD is considered highly dangerous when not taken regularly and leads to suicidal thoughts. I tried reaching them at least 30x on Friday, but they don't work past Noon and although I called prior to Noon they never called back. The last straw was running 20 mins late to an appointment; I called to give them a heads up on my 25 minute drive to their office and Sandy could not have been more rude. I was put on hold for almost 4 mins only to have her come back and say if I wasn't there by Noon they'd have to reschedule. I made it there at 11:55 and again rudely greeted and told she'd have to check to see if I could be seen. I told my PA Joe I would not be coming back.
There are far too many good family practices in Gainesville. I suggest you look harder and avoid AFPHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Everyone at Alliance Medical is WONDERFUL!! I have no reservations about recommending any of the providers. Dr. B and AL are my absolute favs! They really take the time to listen to your concerns and do not just write prescriptions and send you on your way! I've been going to see them for 6+ years now and have never had a bad experience. Also, if your looking for Botox - go see Dr. B - he's a Master :) Can't go wrong here!!
