Easily the best bar in St. Charles.
Jeremy and his brother and sister have built a great establishment for hanging out with friends and a really diverse group.  Like some of the other reviewers, I was surprised by the diversity (for the suburbs) of this place-everything from college kids home from school to bikers to MMA fans to Blackhawk fans to my rugby club.
Food is better than average for pub/bar food.  I'd like to see the menu get updated as now we're going on 2 years.
The service can be strained on busy nights but you'll never go wrong with Ruth as your waitress!
Bartenders are a lot of fun on Friday and Saturday nights.
Make sure to say hi to Jeremy when you're there, he'll be down at the far end of the bar.

3 is for the food, live bands, and playing pool with cool people if you find them. Service is OKAY, they are not the most fun waitresses and one of them completely gave my girl and I attitude and was so concerned we didn't pay, when we had and she just didn't know what she was doing. Seems like they don't enjoy their jobs, they are not friendly or sweet, and hardly smile.

The crowd is blah. Boring. Seems like people were there because they were begged to come out. No one was dancing to the live band, and they were great! And no seemed to be having a good time. It seemed like everyone had their pajamas on at 10 PM on a Friday night and would rather be watching CBS news at home.

I had a great time playing pool though! This is the last place I would go if I wanted to have a good night out. I would rather be in Chicago and take the extra drive and planning on having a fun night here. The quesidillas were typical, yet, delicious. And that's all I really can say about Alley. Also, my friend that is a St. Charles native gave me permission to give this place a poor review. Sorry Alley.

Came here for lunch with the girls one Friday.  For an empty bar, it sure took a long time for a couple of sandwiches and a cobb salad....but whatever. The food was good.

I had the clam chowder, which was flippin' awesome. Added a little tobasco sauce for a little kick. Yummy.

The cobb salad was huge and loaded with tasty toppings. They presented the salad the way a cobb should be (with the toppings separated and covering the lettuce completely) Sooo good. Fresh ingredients and lots of them.

Overall a decent place, but probably not one that I would frequent. Seems like the kind of place that gets overcrowded and might take 20 minutes to get a drink...

This place is huge.. which is good and bad.  The service sucks and the food is bar food.  It is a shame that it has such a great location yet such bad service. Waited forever for a drink and food.  Booths are nice and out of the way which I liked but otherwise not worth coming back to!

I'm from the city, but this is a nice place to grab a bite to eat, watch a game and have a few drinks. Friendly service from some very cute girls doesn't hurt either heh. It's definitely one of the bars you should stop in if your hanging around downtown St. Charles. I'll be back.

We went there on the Friday of Scarecrow Fest, although we didn't know it before we left the house.  We ate out on the deck, it was a beautiul night. Our waitress was nice and we asked about the brisket and she said it was very good, we both had the brisket sandwich and it was good.  The beer was cold so all in all I would highly recommend it.

This place is so trashy it's embarassing to the Saint Charles neighborhood. The drinks are watered down and the bar tenders look and behave like they walked right off a Jerry Springer show. I won't even give details on what I saw going on between two staff workers when I was there with my family. Do not bring your family here. If you are cheap and looking for some trailer trash entertainment, then this is the place for you... otherwise RUN.

Woohoo! This bar gets the highest rating of all of the St. Charles bars. Why? Because the people here (employees and patrons) are cool and not morons (read: the abundance of former St. Charles high school students have yet to overpopulate this bar...at least for the time being). Sorry, I'm just super annoyed with seeing way too many people I didn't want to see over winter break.

But seriously, this place is cool. It opened in the late summer, and after being Myspace friends with the establishment (LOL! Seriously.) since they opened, I only recently made my way over there after leaving Pub 222 because we hated having a high school reunion.

Bottles of Coors, Miller, and Coronas were $2.50. On a Friday night, they had a beer tub set up in the back away from the bar so you didn't need to stand in line to get a beer. I didn't get a cocktail here, so I don't know about the prices of those. I came back the next night with my former boss and his wife (my former teacher) and they bought me a red-headed slut shot (which was amazing) and we had a few beers. I had a Magic Hat on the suggestion of my teacher, and it wasn't bad. And I'm not a beer drinker.

The waitresses were prompt with seeing if we needed anything. On that Saturday night we got there a little after 8 and the dinner crowds were trickling out (some people had their toddlers with them), and the food all smelled fantastic. My boss said that he highly suggests the hot wings (The "Ring Of Fire," named appropriately after Johnny Cash I suppose), but said that they are some of the hottest he has ever had in his life, but he said you can't really go wrong with anything on the menu.

The layout of the bar is nice - when you walk in the front, there is a raised area to the left with tables and such, and a raised area straight ahead. The bar is to the left, and is long. The place itself is very long and narrow. The bathrooms are in the back right corner of the bar, near the beer garden. Added bonus: the women's room is actually clean! Yeah, it was a little moist/humid in there, probably because it was cold outside, warm inside, and the walls are exterior brick walls, but it was clean and that's all I care about. There is also one random pool table in the back.

The bar is a Harley themed place, but it isn't overrun with bikers. On the Friday when we were there it had a bit of a younger crowd, and on Saturday the majority of the crowd was older (late 30s/early 40s), but still some college kids. That Saturday the Loop Rock Girl (97.9 FM) was there signing autographs on her calendar, which probably brought out some of the more middle-aged guys to the place. They also had the UFC fight on.

I'm tempted to give them an extra star for having post it notes on their jukebox that says "no metal, no rap, no hip-hop. If you pick it it will be skipped over." I like metal, but am really sick of rap and hip hop, so that part I enjoyed. I also loved that both nights I was there they played Bon Jovi.

I really hope this doesn't turn into another High School Reunion bar, at least not for those just turning 21.Unfortunately I feel like that is going to happen, as a girl I know just turned 21 and all her Facebook photos from that night were taken at Alley 64. As of now, however, the crowd here is fun and it's what I've always thought of when I thought of a downtown St. Charles bar. It's a nice place to chill out, not so loud that you can't hear what your drinking companion is saying, and decently priced drinks.

This place was great for the most part. I'm 34 and it's nice to have a place that ranges in ages from 25 to 65. I went on a Friday night and they had a band playing 80s to now rock music and then they had some country playing when the band was on break.
I got there around 830 and it was really busy and had to sit at the bar. Honestly, the service sucked at the bar and the drinks were weak. After 3 rum and cokes in and hour, I barely felt a buzz and I'm only 115. There were 4 bartenders but they seemed to run around like chickens with their heads cut off. You would think each one would have a section of the bar that they stuck to. But the only one that did that was the service bar bartender. Which we were right by. Sometimes we would wait 20min for a tender to even notice us.
Other than that, it was great. Some great looking people too. Men and women.

Came here on a Sun. for their Bloody Mary Bar, and food. Bloody Mary Bar was good and something I would come back for. I had the Shrimp Po Boy, which was very good. Nice portion for the price. The 2 ladies with me had the Bisket Slider appetizers. Brisket was done nicely. All in all a good place. Food is priced well, and the service was very good. I look forward to coming back when the outdoor patio is open.

We just snuck in the back door. Lots of bikes and good beer. The bar it self outside is tin roof and decorated with old beer cans. Pbr's tall boys and bikes. A great summer stop for having fun. ( some country music to boot). i feel like I am home.

Alright alright!!  PEOPLE this is St.Charles!!! How hardcore of a biker bar are you expecting here??  That being said, This place is great.  The food comes fast and the drinks keep flowing.  My favorite part about this place is the middle aged yuppie "bikers" Its funny watching a bunch of suits dress up in their pristine leather jackets which they've worn 5 times or just bought new  and talk about their hogs.  Which they have never worked on.  Don't get me wrong I prefer this over a bunch of biker gangs hanging around my town.  Its just funny .

This place might have the longest bar I've ever seen.  Also the food is made to order.  Wait staff is fun to look at and are attentive.  There are often bands playing.  Plus a claw game that you can pick out a lobster!!!!!

For St. Charles it's a decent place to grab a drink. Considering the Filling Station and St. Charlies are pretty much for the just-turned 21 crowd, Alley 64 is a nice break from all of that. The bar itself is huge and the bartender we had was very attentive and actually quite hilarious. The rest of the staff was meh, but we didn't have to deal with them much so I wasn't too worried about them. I had the mozz sticks as an app and they were pretty tasty. Then again you can't really mess those up too much.

I have been going to this bar for 3 years and never had a problem until 9/18/2011.  I asked the waitress if she could put on the Packer game and she said thats not happening here.( the bar was half empty), i replied do you guys still have the NFL ticket? She said yes but i was told we cant play the Packer game in here.  I realize that we are near Chicago but really? that is just not right.  So me and 7 of my friends left and went to Rookies down the street and what was on 3 of there tvs, the Packer game, the Lions game, the Minn game were also on. I guess Bears fans are only welcome at the Alley, prob not the best way to get more people into your bar but less.  And i know plenty of Packer fans in this town that will never step foot in this Bar again.

Hope you like sitting around for awhile till ya get some service. I've been here 3 times now and this has got to be the worst service I've ever gotten from any establishment. If you don't know somebody that works here or your not a regular, I recommend ordering 2 drinks for yourself because it's gonna be awhile till you get your next. 2-3 bartenders for a Friday or Saturday night with easily over a 125 people hanging out. It's got a cool beer garden in the back and lots of room with bands playing sometimes with plenty of room. But seriously, I go out for the environment and the service. Why do people like sitting around and waiting for usually an unhappy bartender or waitress with attitude?

BIKER BEWARE!  Or anyone for that matter, unless you have NO other plans.

It was a beautiful Saturday, went out for a ride and decided to check this place out....We ended up waisting 2 hours there. It took an hour just to get our food which were only appetizers. Nevermind about the waitress giving our cc to someone else....Which took another 15mn to straighten out.

If you just want to grab a quick bite...This is NOT the place. Average food too.

Needless to say, we're never going back.

Decent mix of people, nice blend of the older and younger crowd, which doesn't seem to happen much in STC.  It is a huge space with a set up that's really good for a band on the front stage and a private party room in back.  The food selection is decent with really good fries, veggie sandwich and nachos (it IS a bar first and foremost people, food is always secondary) and friendly and attentive management and staff.  Large selection of draft beers (I think there's 23 or 25), clean space, a little too much country music but pretty much a blast.  Beer garden is nice in the summer with plenty of tables.

I'm on the fence with this one...

First of all, the place is huge. We sat outside in the courtyard (nice!) but the inside of the bar looked really nice, too. We sat ourselves outside and the waitress came over quickly to take our drink order. I inquired about specials and found out that cans of PBR and Old Style were $2.50. That's a special? That sounds more like a punishment!! I opted for a full-price Miller Light draft instead. Then we got our menus - and were disappointed to see how SMALL the food selection was! Burgers, four or five sandwiches, and a decent list of appetizers. My boyfriend really liked his shrimp po' boy (and points for creativity - you don't see that too often!) but my hamburger was almost inedible. It was ridiculously overcooked and dry. Steak fries were really tasty, though! I'll try this place again, but wish the menu had more selection (and I'll be staying away from the burgers!)

I went to Alley 64 right after it first opened. It's such a great place with a great and friendly staff. The beef brisket sandwich and the "Po Boy" sandwich are the best!!! Great tunes, great drinks and great atmosphere. I had a Marani vodka cocktail that they made and it was absolutely spectacular. It's a huge place and a great place to watch the Cubbies and Bears!!!
