I've brought every single one of my cats (over time) here for their checkups (I don't really do it annually like I'm supposed to...)

Prices are very fair and the staff is super nice. I even get an email every year for my kitty's birthday. The newsletter is also informative and very interesting. This is the only place I trust with the lives of my babies!

I've taken my pets here for going on 6 years now. The staff is friendly and professional. All of the veterinarians are great! They have good rapport with my cats and they complete the exams quickly, as my cats are pretty nervous on the exam table.

The Allendale staff even handles my crazy tortie with grace and efficiency when I take her in. She's not a fan of going to the vet and likes to hiss and bite employing a bezerker style that would send most people running in the opposite direction! But the vet techs and the Vets use a light but firm touch to cool my little baby down so they can examine her and send her on her way.

I've never had a scheduling problem here, nor any issues with what things will cost. The staff always tell me what procedures and prescriptions will cost, so there's no sticker shock at the end of the visit.

Our dogs are like toddlers but with sharper fangs.  We adopted them from Town Lake at different times so they weren't raised together.  Usually they like each other fine but last Saturday they had a big fight.  My husband temporarily forgot their rules and took the beta dog on his walk first.  Beta who answers to Ezra, is a young frisky lab and sometimes forgets his place.

When alpha, Freida, returned from her walk Ezra wouldn't let her outside.  He blocked the door and probably said "I got to go on my walk first, bitch".  She bit his back and then he grabbed a hold of her leg.  When the Mr. tried to pull him off he didn't let go and instead basically ripped the skin off her leg.

I freaking love my dogs and calling Allandale was the first thing we did, but I also was aware that last Saturday was exactly 22 days before Christmas.  We have 2 young daughters and I wasn't quite sure how I was going to break it to them that Santa brought us canine laceration repairs for Christmas.

So back to Allandale.  Allandale is a vet office that offers first class service, they seriously brought us a drink (OK it was bottled water, but still) and they don't judge you when they find out you belong in coach.  What I mean by that is the very nice and soothing vet tech gave us the run down on the estimate and told us a few items were optional.  When we explained the whole grad school/one income thing she didn't even flinch and took the optional items off.  This made us feel like jerks regardless.  We love our furry family members and want the best for them, but the budget often decides our fate.  Cue Kristin Wiig's character on Bridesmaids, "Help ME I'm Poorrrrrr".

They assured us that Freida would be OK and that we would discuss payment options.  Those two sentences helped me realize that this vet office actually invented the concept of hope.  I don't really know what all the options are since we figured out that we could pay the bill once we heard the estimate.

Our Freida needed a shit ton of work.  They told us it would be an hour total and to go have breakfast somewhere.  It actually ended up being a lot longer but they called to give updates and only changed the price by $70.  That may sound like a lot, but Dr. Weisz worked on her for forever.  It was way worse than any of us saw on first inspection.  We're talking stitches on the inside and outside + 5 drains.  She's our sweet, oozy girl with a Frankenstein leg.

Dr. Weisz was very thorough on aftercare instructions and we were even warned that OUR knee caps were going to be annihilated from her cone collar.  That thing is a weapon!  Our dog daughter is healing nicely.   I forgot the vet tech's name, but she was super great!  Hooray for Allandale and Dr Weisz!  We will forever sing your praises.

We just adopted a beautiful, vibrant 16 year old Dalmatian, Jazz, from Austin Animal Clinic. She's is good shape for an old girl, with a few noticeable age issues, but we needed to vet her and find out for sure how well she is. We've been looking for a good vet, someone who would know and love our dogs, educate us and foster good relationships between us and them, as well as with our dogs. Allandale Vet Clinic ticks all the boxes! They treated Jazz with love and respect. They also respected our meager budget, discussing all the possible preventative diagnostics they recommended, and printing out a list with cost estimates, so we can plan our vet budget to best care for Jazz.. They also assembled a packet of info on how to best take care of a senior pet. We had a great visit and will be bringing our other Dalmatian, Speckles, in to Allandale Vet Clinic for her yearly wellness vetting too.

I agree with Allison B. The staff and vets are great, but this clinic should not come up under "affordable vet clinic" searches.  They are quite expensive, and I can no longer afford to go there.

I own 3 dogs, who like most will post here, are like my children to me!  I have taken my dogs to Allandale Veterinary Clinic for several years now and I am always blown away by the amazing care and attention the entire staff offers each time we walk in.  The doctors are not what I would call your average veterinarians.  They go far above and beyond that description in their talent, attention to detail, concern, diagnostic skills, and overall thorough approach to any issue we've visited the clinic for medical attention.  There is no price you can place on my pets' health, and I definitely live on a very limited budget.  However, when it comes to giving my dogs the very best care there is, Allandale Vet Clinic is my ONLY choice, and their expertise is worth any price to me.  I have visited vet clinics who advertise "lower rates" in years past, and the difference between those office visits and the care my pets receive and what I have experienced in three years at Allandale Vet Clinic is night and day.  When you are faced with losing the love of your life (my heart dog, Jessi) and the ability to save her is real and available, Allandale Vet Clinic was such a blessing with a happy ending!

The vets, the vet techs and the entire staff at Allandale Vet are just the best. They all genuinely love to see my dog come in, even though she's a little afraid, and they are all very knowledgeable about dog health and behavior (though no one ever condescends). They always call to follow-up and make sure my dog is doing okay, whether we've come from a physical or from her swallowing something stupid. It's a bustling office but you can always get an appointment. All vets are equally great. Can't recommend enough!

We took our bloodhound puppy, Watson, to the vet clinic for the first time this morning. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with smiles and the whole staff seemed genuinely excited to see the puppy.

They gave him treats and all hugged and played with him with genuine joy. Watson immediately felt comfortable around them and was calm during the entire check-up, with the exception of the fecal test...but who wouldn't be a little uncomfortable with that.

We received lots of useful information, both from the assistant who was also a bloodhound owner and the veterinarian who gave us lots of tips on puppy hygiene (everything from bathing to brushing teeth). Additionally, we received a large packet full of informational materials ranging from deciding to microchip your dog, to training, to information about heart worms and other medications.

The staff did not seem rushed at all and gave us ample time to ask questions, and stayed in the room to talk with us and play with Watson while we waited for his test results.

Overall, it was a great experience. No wait time, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a comforting environment for Watson. We will definitely be returning to this clinic.

I actually found this place on Yelp!  I adopted Rufus from the Austin Boxer Rescue and wanted to take him in for a check up. I was really impressed with the techs and the vets here. Soon after my first visit he had an allergic reaction to a medication. They took excellent care of him and brought him back to health quickly. Dr. Skiles went above and beyond by calling the drug company and reporting the incident. The drug company ended up refunding me for the meds & the vet visit which was awesome. I would have never thought to call them & I really appreciated her taking the extra time to do that. Every time I bring Rufus in we are greeted warmly and treated with respect. I'm lucky to have such a great vet in my neighborhood.

Allandale is the only vet clinic I've used in Austin and after today it's the only one I'll ever use.

On my first visit with my black lab puppy, at that time 2 months old, the vet tech -- Ashley is AMAZING -- came from behind the desk scooped him up and just loved on him.  He's never been nervous to see her since - now she's just her fun friend that gives him treats!  She's also very knowledgeable about training and helped calm my frayed nerves about my very hyper little guy.  As with other reviewers, I called several times after I initially adopted him with questions and everyone was patient with me and gave me answers that worked.

The vets - I've seen Dr. Skiles and Baker - are GREAT.  They don't push products on you like I've heard from my friends other vets do and yet I feel they're thorough.

I called this morning to let them know my dog's symptoms and they wanted to see him right away.  They personally helped me find a way to the clinic - my husband and I share a car and I don't have it today - and saw my dog shortly after we arrived.

I really get the sense that the staff loves animals - it shows not only in the way they treat and handle dogs (or cats I'm sure) but in the way they talk to you as the parent - they want you to be informed and confident.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them and can't recommend them highly enough.

The staff are friendly and interested in my cat.  They really take the time to listen to me and answer my questions, even calling me days later to check in.  I know my cat can be troublesome at the vet (who wouldn't hate a thermometer in the butt?), but the staff handle her carefully.  They also have an online system where I can view my pet's profile.  Also, I really appreciated the free visit for adopted pets.  Thanks!

I originally started coming here because I had adopted a wild puppy that was really skittish around people. I picked this place because based off of other reviews, they really seemed to know how to handle fearful dogs. The puppy ran away into the woods and was later found in the least ideal situation by the police.

I was embarrassed to tell them the record update. I think part of it is because they love animals so much there and at that point, despite doing the best I could,  I felt as though I sucked at loving animals. Anyway, I'm glad when I brought my new dog there, they didn't press me for details on what had happened to my old puppy. Maybe it's just common decency, but I really appreciated it.

Among other things, the staff here are very knowledgeable. I can get answers to my questions that don't feel half baked. I walk out satisfied 100% of the time. The tech staff is great. I LOVE Ashley as she helped me out with my current dog in ways that the omniscient internet just couldn't and overall everyone's easy to talk to. I don't hesitate in just calling for advice.

I also love that they don't give me a sales pitch for things I don't need. As of now, I couldn't imagine going anywhere else for vet care.

This is a great clinic with a very caring staff.  The receptionists and vet techs are always friendly.  Both Dr. Weisz and Dr. Skiles are great.

They were very caring when it came time to say goodbye to my baby, a 15 year old poodle.  A tough decision but they helped me through it.  Thank you for your kindness, Dr. Weisz.

My previous vet recommended Allandale Vet to me. I moved north so I needed something closer to my house.  My 13.5 beagle mix  is my baby, so I am basically anal when it comes to her Veterinary care.  On my first visit the receptionist was very friendly to us.  A tech behind the counter could see that my girl was beyond nervous ( I guess the trembling gave it away?) and came out to see us.  She talked to my dog and pet her and overall just tried to calm her. I had a brief wait before going into the exam room.

In walked Dr. Baker who was so nice and informative. She went into detail when I asked questions (and did I ask).  She took a blood sample and they even walked my dog outside so they could get a urine sample. I had many questions as my dog is had lumps, bumps and is arthritic.  Dr. Baker gave me many helpful suggestions.  She spent a lot of time with us in the exam room and I didn't feel at all rushed.  The staff was super friendly as we walked through.

The next day Dr. Baker called (herself) to tell me the results of the lab work.  She left a message so I called right back.  I was put on hold briefly and then she came to the phone.  She explained everything to me and answered all the questions I had.  She was very thorough.

I will definitely go back to see Dr. Baker. I have complete faith and trust in her knowledge and ability!

Allendale is awesome. I have had a very fruitful relationship with them when I used to live in Austin. They took great care of my yellow lab. The doctors and nurses were always polite, were very happy to treat my dog and handled her with care. I had my dog spayed there and they explained the procedure to me very clearly, clearly stated how much the options cost and what each of them were for. The front office is excellent, and have always been happy to answer any questions I have had on the phone. The best part is, they call back the next day on their own accord to check of everything is good. I highly recommend Allandale Veterinary Clinic

Just returned from Allandale Vet Clinic, and I have to say the positive reviews are true! Dr. Stiles and her staff are warm, professional and very good with pets as well as peeps ;-)

From the receptionists all the way back to the exam room we were greeted and treated in a sincerely friendly manner by everyone we came into contact with.

The vet techs were extremely knowledgeable and very forthcoming in addressing my questions and concerns regarding flea treatment and heartworm prevention. Dr. Stiles has a very pleasant demeanor and gave us probably the best advice we could have received on our decision regarding spaying. They were very gentle with our puppy and were not in a rush at all.

About 100 bucks for Breezy's first visit. Very reasonable considering the thorough exam and concurrent amount of shots she required.

As a side note, one of the vet techs brought his Jack Russell (Jinx) to meet our Jack Russell puppy...Very warm and considerate.  We'll be back again and again!

We heart Allandale Vet Clinic.  My rescue pup is super timid and when we first got her she was terrified of people.  The Vets, techs, and staff were so understanding and accomodating. They made her as comfortable as possible to do shots and temperature readings, and dewormings. Then they talked us through what you can do for a timid dog and how to help socialize them.  We came home with packets of reading materials and suggestions for training.

Just recently we found an abandonded puppy who is as sweet as can be.  They took us in for an appoint that day, within 2 hours of calling. The staff and vets were again amazing with him. He got passed from person to person to get treats and snuggled.  They walked us through the checkup process again and let us know what procedures we should follow to try to find his family and to call Animal Control to officially foster him.

The people at Allandale love animals and want the best for our pets. They might be a little pricer than other places, but  we wouldn't go anywhere else.

My first experience with Allandale was great! From my first contact with the receptionist to the follow-up after my appointment, I was very impressed with this practice.

I brought my cat here because he'd been losing both fur and weight. The receptionist was very pleasant and I was able to get an appointment within the week that I called.

Upon arriving at the facilities, I was pleased to notice that they were clean, bright and modern. The receptionists were quite pleasant and "talked" with my extremely vocal cat as I filled out his paperwork.

I'll preface my description of the vet and vet techs with a description of my history. I volunteer with a local clinic and worked in a kennel for three years, during which time I visited quite a few of the area's vets. I consider myself slightly more knowledgeable than the average person about the diseases that can befall one's pets, and also about the people who treat them. Also, when I worked at the kennel, I worked with quite a few former vet techs, most of whom left the veterinary business because of horrible, demanding and disrespectful veterinarians. Coming from this background, I'm always attuned to the person treating my animals and what might be going on behind the scenes in their practice.

Bearing that in mind, I was EXTREMELY happy with the service I received from Dr. Skiles (she's in picture #5) and her vet techs. The techs were competent, genuinely happy and friendly with my cat. I relate vet visits to a doctor's office: if the nurses (techs) are happy, you know you're in a good place. Once they could tell that I was used to handling animals, they also allowed me to remove my cat from his crate, weigh him and hold him while they took his temperature, which I (and he) appreciated.

When Dr. Skiles came in, she was very generous with her time and answered all the questions that I had. I often wonder if vets are slightly annoyed by me since I do have a smidgen of experience in the field, but not enough to *really* know what I'm talking about. I didn't get that sense at all from Dr. Skiles. She outlined the possible causes for my cat's condition, explained signs and symptoms for each possible cause and then thoroughly detailed treatments. One of the treatments was steroid shots, which I was willing to try but explained that I did not want to have to administer steroids often. She was very open to my perspective and preferences. I felt respected and well-informed throughout the entire visit.

The clincher for me though was seeing Dr. Skiles interact with her vet techs. Her techs didn't seem to have a problem asking her questions, and her responses to the questions were informative and respectful. Again, from the horror stories I've heard from several former techs, not every vet treats their employees with common courtesy.

My cat required bloodwork before receiving any treatment, and I booked an appointment for just a few days later. The appointment was for a steroid injection - something a tech could have administered - but Dr. Skiles took the appointment because she wanted to make sure she had follow-up with my cat. I was only charged for a tech appointment (which is less expensive), even though a veterinarian was the one providing my services.

On my way out of the driveway on my first visit, my stressed-out cat pooped in his crate. I drove back in the driveway and was just going to wipe out the crate on the side of the road. One of the techs saw me pull back and and came out to ask if everything was okay. When I said that my cat had pooped in his carrier, she took the crate and washed it out for me. So very nice of her!

I received a call a few days after my cat's second appointment to check up on him. I know this call is usually just a formality, but I appreciate that it was done. I also got an e-card for my cat's birthday, which is super kitschy but also super appreciated :o).

Prices were reasonable for the services I required; I checked with a few other practices and found that prices were the same. The vet didn't push any unnecessary tests on me, and as I mentioned above, only charged me for a tech appointment the second time I came in even though she met with me and not a tech. They honored the Yelp! discount and sent me a $10 coupon in the mail a few days after my second visit. Allandale also gives you a $10 discount for every person you refer to them.

Also, I really like Allandale's website; they have a feature that allows you to check all your animal's vet and medication records, which is incredibly convenient. You can also order more medicines through the website.

Lastly, all the veterinarians here are female. If you're like me and enjoy supporting women-owned businesses, than this fact is just the cherry on top of a stellar veterinary experience. I feel completely confident bringing my pets here and recommending this practice to my friends.

Officially in love with Allandale Veterinary Clinic!

Today, I found something on my small dog that worried me. Even though my dog wasn't a prior patient, they fit me in just 1 hour from the time I called.

The office is clean. It actually smells good. It's a relaxed clinic with a friendly staff.

I didn't wait long at all to be seen.

When I arrived in the exam room, the tech was very friendly and gentle with my small chihuahua. My dog usually requires a tiny muzzle as she's very fearful of humans. I was in shock to see them holding and petting her.

The vet introduced herself. She is very kind and my dog allowed the vet to examine her. The vet was even able to clean my dogs ears! No vet has ever been able to hold her! My usually crazy pup was very calm. I think this says a lot about the manner and patience of the vet and the tech. For instance, she let my dog sniff the stethoscope before she put it to her chest.

I didn't feel rushed. In fact, they checked me out on the computer in the exam room.

I will call this place our official vet clinic from now on. My pup was happy and that makes me very happy.

This place is class all the way. Super friendly staff, competent vets, and they don't even seem to mind my very verbal spaniel and uber-shy mutt's eccentricities.

Not only do they take superb care of my dogs, but they call or email me after a visit just to make sure everything is still rockin'.  That's pretty sweet.

I love this place, but I can't say I love their prices. I don't want to take my pets anywhere else, but I do tend to put off visits unless absolutely necessary because, Momma might have to sell a kidney to pay for it.

Interesting that every review so far involves cats, not dogs. Not sure what to make of that. Anyway...

Let me be clear that the clinic is outstanding in terms of friendliness, competency of staff, and Dr. Stiles was so generous with her time. However, the prices are outrageous. I was given an estimate of $600 for cleaning my 5-year-old dog's teeth. I feel like I was taken advantage of just because they're located in Allandale. (I live there...it's not *that* uppity.)

I'm sad that I won't be going back but I know there are quality vet clinics in the area that aren't prohibitively expensive. I lived in San Francisco for three years with two sick dogs, and even with that kind of overhead, they weren't this bad!

I have an extremely well-traveled cat.  She was born on the rough streets of Dorchester (Boston) to a hard-working single mom who was abandoned when her human family moved to Florida.  Since then, she's taken two cross-country road trips, and she's lived in San Francisco, Chicago, and now, Austin.  Needless to say, with this level of sophistication, Miss Cordelia Chase Balls is very particular about her veterinarians.

Luckily, Cordy reports that Allandale Veterinary Clinic is top notch.  She realizes that administration isn't always indicative of the quality of medical care, but it's still nice that their receptionists and vet techs are so polite, attentive, and detail-oriented anyway.  She's amazed that, given the number of patients they see on a daily basis, every time she comes in, they remember her name.

The vets are wonderful, too.  In particular, Cordy is fond of Dr. Weisz, who is wonderfully compassionate and knowledgeable.  Recently, when Cordy wasn't feeling very well, she had to go to the emergency vet, who diagnosed her with bladder stones and possibly lymphoma.  Dr. Weisz was kind and patient every step of the way, from the surgery to remove the stones, to the testing of the stones, to following up with us constantly to check on the status of our favorite family member.  When Dr. Weisz determined that the cause wasn't lymphoma after all (phew!), she recommended a modified diet and even contacted a researcher across the country about the latest scientific developments that could affect our cat.  (Dr. Weisz's preference -- and ours too -- is to avoid putting the patient on steroids if at all possible.)

We're happy to report that our five-year-old is back to kitten-like levels of energy these days, even if that means that she wears us out with her renewed insistence on playing fetch.  Sure, she probably could've gotten the same surgery, possibly at a lower price, from a different office.  But the level of compassion and professionalism is simply unsurpassed here.  We know Cordy's not their only patient, but they sure make us feel like she is, and that makes all the difference in the world.

I had been taking my 13 year old Jack Russell to the same vet back home since his birth, but I figured that in case of emergency I should probably have a back-up that wasn't 3 hours away. My first visit  was a little under a year ago for a routine exam and I think we were both a little thrown off by being somewhere new but the overall experience was fine. They quoted me ~$550 to clean his teeth (his breath can peel paint) which is more than I would ever pay to clean my own teeth but otherwise everything was reasonable. I decided that if I had the opportunity I would probably continue taking him in when I went to visit the parentals, but it was a viable option.

Then a month or 2 later my genius dog who thinks he can fly decided to land on the coffee table bruising his entire chest. This is a fairly regular occurrence (landing on things, not the bruising) so I thought little of it but when he rolled over to have his belly scratched a few hours later I freaked. It was late in the evening so I called the vet and got a recorded message with Dr. Baker's number for emergencies. She picked up right away and advised me to take him to the Emergency Animal Hospital (also a place I'd recommend) to make sure it wasn't something more serious. He ended up being fine and Dr. Baker followed up with me after we left and the next day just to make sure.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago and wonder boy does it again, except this time he scratched his eye. No idea how, no idea when, but boy was he unhappy. I was home on my lunch break when it happened so I called to see if I could get him in and after asking for a few details they said they would fit me in asap. 10 minutes later we were there and after a brief wait Dr. Weisz was there to save the day. She was incredible and although my dog was still panicking (scratching your eyeball is seriously painful) I felt much calmer. After head-butting one tech a few too many times, a new girl came in who I wasn't exactly thrilled with - she laughed when the eye drops made him foam at the mouth and violently shake his head, i did not - but all was well in the end. His eye is still healing but they've made sure to continuously check-in with me and his follow-up appointment was equally great. All of the staff I've had experience with are very friendly and I absolutely adore Dr. Weisz.

Hopefully I wont have to return for anything other than a routine check-up anytime soon, but if I do I know we'll be in good hands.

I've been taking my cats Angus and Malcolm here for about seven years now and have no complaints to speak of.  The vets, Dr. Baker and Dr. Lee, are fantastic.  They are thorough and always return phone calls, answer questions and follow up on how my cats are doing after they've been in for an illness or injury.  I've joked that these doctors provided better service to my pets than my (now ex-) pediatrician provided to my son - sad yet true.  I also like the idea of going to an all-lady practice.  The techs (also women) are equally skilled and everyone is ridiculously nice.

Angus has nearly died almost twice now and they've managed to save him.  He is, as always, unappreciative of that and has yet to pay me back (broke-ass cat lays around all day, won't get a damn job) but I credit them with diagnosing him correctly and treating him quickly (something I've had a problem with at other vets).

I have no complaints about this place.  My cats are healthy, happy and no longer trying to mate with one another.  (They're brother and sister, so ew!  Incest!)

Every time I've called, the person answering the phone has been very helpful and friendly and I've always been able to get an appointment that was convenient for our schedules.  The techs that I've spoken with have been really great as well - very patient with my questions and full of information!  The prices are reasonable, the place is clean and tidy and the location is perfect for us.

This is one of the best vet clinics I've ever been to.  Last April my cat became very ill and started losing weight rapidly.  It took three trips to the clinic with progressively more invasive tests, but they finally diagnosed her with cancer of the spleen and liver.

Dr. Lee said that she would experience considerable relief by having her spleen removed, but she would still eventually die of liver cancer.  I opted to have her spleen removed and deal with the liver cancer when it became more of an issue.  They quoted me at almost $700.00 for the spleen removal surgery.  It was quite an expensive, but I deemed it necessary.  Imagine my surprise when Dr. Lee called me after the surgery, saying Stella was fine and that the surgery took shorter than expected so they weren't charging me the full fee!!!  Wow!  I was super impressed.  They could have not said anything and I would have coughed up $700.00.  Instead, it only cost $500.00 (a relative deal) and Stella has been great ever since!  I hope to keep her around for a very long time thanks to Drs. Lee and Baker!

This is the Best that it gets!

They have been my long time vet at Allandale Vet clinic. All of the doctors and staff are knowledgeable, friendly, genuinely concerned for pets AND their owners. They provide the best care and keep in mind the whole picture. They have always laid out my options clearly, and don't always recommend the expensive stuff first. Usually, it is the established, less expensive option. Either way they do great work.

When it came time to say goodbye to my old dog and end his suffering, they were the best. The most compassionate and caring group that I know of.

    Thanks, y'all.

The people here have been compassionate, professional and caring when it comes to the health of our cats.

Everyone has been nice and accommodating and professional.

I definitely don't like taking my pets to the vet, but if I do I'm glad I have this place to come to

I took my Siamese here when they were at their old location and have been taking my new kitten here as well because I love AVC so much.

The receptionists are really nice, informative and organized.  The techs and vets are highly knowledgeable and are extremely nice and caring.

They really go out of their way for a concerned owner/parent for their child/pet :-P

Their prices are fair and the new location is really nice.  Everyone should bring their pets here!

Everyone at the Allandale Clinic was very nice and helpful.  I am new to town so I brought in Gilbert to get his yearly blood work done for his Phenobarbital levels prior to getting a refill.  They were very thorough in his examination - we even had his blood pressure checked!  All his results came back with flying colors in October.

He was due for a refill on his Phenobarbital in December, but he came down with an acute case of kidney failure Dec 30th 2008, and was in and out of several hospitals in attempts to save him.  We had no choice but to put him to sleep on January 2nd 2009.  Putting a cat to sleep isn't as gentle as it sounds.

I received a touching sympathy card from the staff at the Allandale clinic shortly after Gilbert's passing.

I love this place and these people.  The staff is kind, accommodating and professional. Their facility is clean and comfortable (they even have a coffee pot in the waiting area). They've helped me with my "miracle kitty" diabetic cat, Yikes, since I moved into the neighborhood 5 or so years ago.  My big, rambunctious dogs are under their care as well.

We trust Dr. Baker and Dr. Weisz explicitly (Dr. Lee as well, but I'm not sure she is still there)... so important when you have pets that you adore like children.  Our whole family says thank you, from the bottom of our heart, for their kind attention.

I took my kitten here for his 1st vet visit and was very happy! The staff is friendly, helpful, and great at helping anxious animals stay relaxed. The veterinarian was extremely knowledgeable and helped considerably in explaining my pet's condition and medication in a way I could understand. It's been a while since I had a pet or a vet, but this is the place we'll be going for veterinary care from now on!

I read all the positive reviews on Yelp and had great expectations. I've also had the most wonderful vet for the past 10 years so that also may contribute to my high expectations. I was sadly disappointed by my experience yesterday at Allendale Vet Clinic.  I have 2 cats and a dog. Dog didn't need to be seen so it was just cats this time. The only time most likely.

Kitty #1's exam went well. She's the outwardly sweeter one and typically thought of as the nicer of the two. She was scooped up, taken away for a blood draw, returned to the room and all was well. Until it was kitty #'2 time. He is older and cranky. This does not mean he isn't a sweet little fellow. He is. He just needs to be understood and handled a certain way. I felt as if I discussed this with the tech before his exam, but I guess something got lost in translation.

Unfortunately, the exam did not go well. Instead of letting him ease out of the carrier, they removed (the tech called in a vet) the top of the carrier and decided to just put a towel over the top of him. I told the tech earlier that I sometimes wrap him up kitty burrito style at home when I need to pill him or clean a boo-boo, but I NEVER said it was ok to ambush him by placing a towel over him.  He was not happy with this and the situation escalated to where he needed to be sedated in order to complete his blood draw. A BLOOD DRAW!? Sedated (they charged me $50.00 for this, in hindsight it feels like a slap in the face) for a blood draw!? Never has this happened to him during a routine visit to the vet.

I followed up with one of the vets and she seemed somewhat concerned by our experience and did kindly offer to sit down with me if I decide to return, but I think I'll keep looking around for a vet that suits us better.

We use Allandale Vet for our 13 yr. old lab, Rocky. After visiting other vets in Austin, Allandale Vet is far above the rest. They actually give personal attention to your specific dog's needs and background. I never feel like they are just trying to get me to pay for stuff, but I always trust their advice and recommendations.

I have been taking my animals to Allandale Veterinary Clinic for over 5 years now.  What I really appreciate about Dr. Baker and her staff the most is that they spend so much time with me and my pets.  I never feel rushed, I always feel that they take time to answer all of my questions and they never fail to call me and follow-up and see how my pets are doing after the visit. Can't recommend them enough.

I ran across Allandale on a very lucky whim and despite the many recommendations I get for vets closer to me or cheaper, I will not leave. I have an annoyingly sickly cat and the Allandale staff consistently goes above and beyond for him. They make quick, accurate diagnosis for all of his off-the-wall ailments and excellent referrals to specialists when needed. They are also extremely accommodating and friendly. You never feel like an inconvenience here...even if you rush in with a mid-day emergency and no appointment. My kitty and I have found our vet family:) We highly suggest you join it!!

Awesome, professional, very friendly folks.  They loved my cat, and just seem to be genuine animal lovers.  At other vets, sometimes you get the feeling they are just not that interested in your animal, which always struck me as odd.  Not at Allendale--they made a big old fuss over my cat and gave me a TON of helpful info. on how to prevent future problems (he was peeing blood because of an inflamed bladder).  My favorite?  Take a can of tuna and put it in the blender with another full can of water, puree, and serve.  It's a trick to get your cat to drink more water--genius and super cheap!

Prices reasonable I think--never had this problem before so I don't know how much it would cost elsewhere.  At the very least, they seemed considerate of the fact that I told them I was broke, and they tried to help me keep the price down by telling me what was essential/not so essential/etc.

I had terrible experiences with 2 other vets before thankfully finding Allandale. Rosedale vet misdiagnosed our kitten who had ringworm but after we figured it out b/c we had spots on our bodies that continued to spread, they suggested we start lyme baths. I thought we should get a second opinion so we took Jackson to Allandale. The vet immediately noticed it looked like our kitty had fluid in it's stomach and pointed out that it had a weak immune system since it was having trouble fighting off diseases (Rosedale had also prescribed a second dose of upper respiratory infection medicine). THey ordered a lot of tests and diagnosed our kitten w/ FIP. It was devestating news, but when we learned more about the fatal disease, we trusted them when they said if it was their pet, they would put it down. We were able to save time, money and our pet from immense pain because of their intuition and thoroughness. Putting our pet to sleep was one of the worst days of my life, but Allandale worked around our schedule, gave us all the time we needed, had tissues and water for us, and were so understanding. A few months later we were brought to tears again when we received a sympathy card in the mail signed by their entire staff and an ornament w/ a pressed paw print from Jackson. There was something very comforting about having a large, knowledgable staff. It's just too bad that by the time we found a terrific vet it was too late. We'll be moving South soon, but I think we'll make the commute to take our future pets to Allandale.  I HIGHLY recommend this clinic.
