Hiring Allan is more than worth the money - he takes control of the bar, makes sure all your guests have drinks in their hands, and cleans up after. You don't have to worry about anything. He is also a good conversationalist but is not inappropriately chatty - does a good job of only engaging guests in conversations when appropriate. He had a nice touch of giving water to guests when they were leaving. He got strong compliments from our guests.
He bartended a 50 person party for my wife and me. I am definitely using him again. -

As a caterer, I want a bartender that takes the bar service off my plate, so neither I nor the host/hostess have to spend any time thinking about it. Allan is perfect at this. If you want to have an event where the bar operations are run friendly, professionally and efficiently, Allan is the bartender to hire.
I was especially impressed at the effort he put into setting up a "self-serve" bar for the remaining party guests when his shift was over and how he and his servers would go thru the party taking drink orders, not just standing at the bar waiting for people. If you need additional servers and bartenders, Allan's team is unmatched too. -

Allan was great.
He tended bar at our 70 person event, took a big chunk of responsibility off my shoulders and was fun to work with. He was professional and also fun. He was available and easy to communicate with from the start, initiating emails and following through at all phases of planning and the event. He helped us with a menu, a shopping list, and thought ahead about party issues that we may never have considered.
Allan does his job well and you can have fun at your event - what more could you ask for? -

I am a personal chef and small scale caterer. in September I was cooking for a huge party (175 people) and the bar duties were mine as well. Preferring to just concentrate on the food and service, I turned to Allan Brown. Allan was extremely professional, talented, and most importantly, reliable. I did not have to even think about the bar during the evening as he kept everything in control and the line moving quickly. To boot, Allan is an enjoyable guy - great for conversation and he knows his client.
I would highly recommend Allan and his staff (they were great too!) to anyone who is throwing a party and would rather enjoy the moment than worry if everyone is waiting for drinks or running out of supplies. -

We found Allan on craigslist and I was super happy with just how he presented himself on his website and such before I even spoke with him! His prices are great and he was such a huge help the night of the party. When there was no one rushing the bar, he made the rounds bringing fresh beers and topping off drinks. He provided a shopping list for us before the party and brought many of his own supplies. He even came in costume (it was a Halloween party). Definitely recommend him - he was very relaxed and calm, had it all together and made sure people had bottles of water as they left to stay hydrated.

Allan Brown was the bartender for my 70th birthday celebration. We had over 100 people attend this event. From his arrival which was very prompt Allan took control of setting up the bar, bringing of the ice , and organizing both the bar and being a cordial face to our arriving guests. Many of our guests remarked what a nice guy he was and how efficiently he operated. He also helped in the clean up. I wouldn't hesitate to use him again and would highly recommend him to others.

Professional, affordable ($35/ hour for a party of about 30 folks-- you supply your own liquor), knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly-- four stars right there. The fifth star, Allan gets because, w/ his stature and strength (he lugged up a case of wine and a another box of 1.75 liter bottles of alcohol up three flights of stairs-- in one trip, on his shoulders), he could probably double as a bouncer if things got out of control :)
The stars aligned so that we were able to book Allan for a house party, with two days advance-notice (someone else had canceled-- their loss, our gain!). He was immediately on it: he let us share the kind of vibe we were going for, helped us develop our cocktail menu, made some practical, money-saving suggestions; sent us a buying guide; then, subsequently allowed us to give him our feedback and make some minor changes to our offerings. He arrived an hour before the party started, made himself a bar out of our compact kitchen (w/o complaining about the two cooks behind him, frantically pulling stuff out of the ovens, and getting plates ready); then provided us with hours of great bar service, that kept our guests happy, and us (the hosts) carefree and able to mingle with everyone. Everyone raved at how well he made our signature drink and how friendly he was (he seems to be a jack-of-all-trades-- he had something smart to say to everyone!). No question about who we'll ask to tend the bar the next time we decide to play hostesses with the mostest(es). -

We used Allan for an outdoor event of about 175 people. Many of the group frequently hit the bar area at the same time. Allan did a great job of keeping the flow going while remaining personable and efficient at the same time. The drink selections were no too demanding, but what he did have have to mix, he did well. Another event is coming up soon and we will not hesitate to use him again.

I hired Allan to bartender our friend's 30th BDAY celebration this past Saturday. The level of service far exceeded what I anticipated. Not only was he able to serve guests (about 90 people) without making anybody wait, but when the bar was not busy, he was able to walk the party and clean up dirty plates and glassware. Once he arrived, I did not have the worry about the bar - everything was handled with grace, care and professionalism. And yes, he makes some great signature drinks (Margaritas and Pineapple Splashes).
I had a great time at my party because I knew the bar was handled by a pro. He was a personable and knowledgable when I was putting the event together, down to providing a shopping list for the bar. I can recommend Allan for an event that needs someone to come into a situation and run the show from top to bottom. His presence was worth the investment! -

Allan is a great bartender. I hired him to bar-tend at my 30th birthday party, and I was very happy with his services. We talked on the phone prior to the party to discuss what I wanted. He asked the right questions about what types of people would be there, and he made suggestions about drinks to offer and ways to control the budget. A week before the party, he sent me a shopping list so that I was sure to have ample offerings without overdoing it. He arrived early, set up, and started making drinks as I put the finishing touches on the spread. He even offered to help me finish grilling the sates or putting other food out. Throughout the party, he walked around making sure everyone had enough to drink. He even brought me a drink when I was outside causing trouble with kids from the high school party down the block. On top of it all, he makes a mean margarita. My guests were very well taken care of, and I was delighted.
