Came here on the Monday night the Niner's and the Steelers were playing. The place was fairly busy. I found the Bartenders to be very friendly and respectable. They have a ton of TVs, so it's a pretty cool place to grab a drink and watch the game. Ordered a personal pizza for dinner which was also pretty decent, though the sauce was a white sauce as opposed to a marinara which was okay, but I probably would have preferred red. Service was a bit slow, but overall, I would have to say I enjoyed my experience here.

Only been here for after work functions bc it's so close, so I can't speak to what happens on the weekends. On weekday afternoons though, its great...not too crowded, staff is great and the happy hour menu is great. I love all the games in there, the t.v.s with all the games on, and the music. It's a great atmosphere to blow off work steam.

My favorite place for a quick drink in Des Moines. The drinks are cheap which is good. The bartenders are friendly and respectable. Though there aren't many people there much, I do stop in to grab a drink or two every once in awhile. The food selection isn't the best but hey it makes due. And when friends fly in this is where I take them for a quick talk.

We visited last week shortly after the bar opened for the day. The first thing we noticed was the smell of stale beer. The menus we're sticky and dirty.......the tables were not only not set up, but not even wiped down. Our waitress did not know what kind of beer the had on tap.........shouldn't this be a job requirement?
I worked in the restaurant industry for MANY years and was shocked as I had heard such great things about this place. One of the people I was with made the comment, "if they don't even clean the menus, do I really want to eat the food prepared here". We didnt , we had a beer and left.
I am pretty sure I will never go back. -

Des Moines seems to have a revolving door of bars. New ones come and old ones go...
All Star has been around for a while now and I've been there a bunch of times now.
The drinks are good, nice beer selection outside the crap lite beers, food is ok, WAYYY better than the other bars around.
So, the reason for the low score; when it gets busy on the weekends the service blows dogs for quarters. -

This is a great place near where I work, so we go here frequently for happy hour. There's a large bar, plenty of seating (rather uncomfortable chairs, but I can deal) and two big ping pong tables, which is awesome. Parking is easy, along the side of the building and behind with a lot.
What I like most though, is the FOOD.. the menu is extensive American fare. You can get their delicious, crispy fries or fresh salad with any meal. My favorite is their chicken caesar wrap -- perfect, without too much dressing. I do wish they offered more on the menu with whole wheat, like sandwiches or a whole wheat tortilla.
The prices are a little steep for this type of bar, especially charging extra for a salad choice -- huh? Otherwise the menu is great.
Patrons might also want to know that Mary Kay Laterno, famed for mixing education with relations, very well may be your bartender here. She actually seems really nice and down-to-earth, and people are very respectful from what I've heard.
If you're in the area, have lunch here, play a few games of ping pong, and enjoy! -

Random. Live in the area- So i figured i'd check this place out.
The service was pretty quick- the bartenders were really nice. They poured their drinks pretty strong.
Atomosphere- I love people watching- there's just really random people here. From guys dressed in Ed Hardy to guys in sweats. . .
Id definitely would come here w/ a group of people to hang out and grab a drink or two. -

I love this place! And not because my cousin has ownership in it! They have this incredible bleu cheese pizza! I plan to drive from North Seattle just to have it again!

OMG!! This place is soooo good! My husband and I like to have "date night" here. The food is good, the portions are huge and the price is right! I had a BBQ Clucks Fork and Knifer and my husband had a BBQ pepperoni and sausage Fork and Knifer. SPICY!! I can't believe how much bbq chicken was on my sandwich. YUMMOOO!
Last time we shared a salmon and pineapple pizza with bbq sauce. Not an actual choice but, we got the idea from one of the yummy sandwiches for an original create your own pizza. Give it a try...you will LOVE it!!
Oh...one more thing! All the staff is SUPER friendly, they make you feel at home! -

We come for Meshell. We stay for the liquor.
The music is fun and loud, which I like. Too many bars are afraid to turn the music up. The vibe is good, too. And there is a lot of seating around the bar.
It can get crowded which makes it seem like they are understaffed. I don't think it's that, I just think there are more patrons than what can comfortably be served.
I would have given it four stars except the last time we went down we found out that they don't allow entry past midnight. This was very disappointing as we had gotten back from a late dinner and walked down and weren't allowed to come in. Major sadface.Listed in: The Places I Go Out

This bar has been around for about a month bow, and I havisited three times. As with any new establishment there has been some kinks, but each time it gets better. The first couple times they seemed a bit understaffed, but If you sit at the huge bar rail, service is quick and friendly.
Their menu consits of pizzas, and traditional bar appetizers. I have had their 4 time loser pizza twice and it was amazing! It's a thin crust, with chunks of chicken, buffalo wing sauce and blue cheese.
Food prices, could come down a couple bucks, but they are not terrible. Drink prices are very reasonable. They have live music on weekends.
Given the history of the location, and it's proximity to the lighthouse, I was surprised to see that the crowd was a great mix of young and old, and I didn't see any toothless meth addicts!
I was amazed how busy it was on a Friday night, it seems our area finally has a decent drinking establishment! -

We have been to the All Star Sports Bar several times and each time we have went we have had a great time. We love the live music on the weekends and the place is just really fun to hang out, have a drink and people watch. All Star is a wide open bar, so there is always plenty of seats! Can't say a bad thing about this place, looking forward to many more date nights with my hubby there ;)

I love this bar. Finally a bar that has ping pong! Tuesday nights are ping pong tourney nights, and the competition is stiff. The drinks are strong, but they need to get some more bartenders, because it takes a while to get service. The food was ok... good for bar food, but the pizza's are really good. They have like 20 or more flat screen TV's.

Nasty. I've been to the All Star a couple of times and was impressed with the open space and live music on the weekends. Some friends and I decided to stop in one Saturday afternoon for lunch and a few beers. After we walked in, the smell of stale beer and urine made us quickly decide to go elsewhere for lunch. The floors, chairs, and menus were sticky. It was noon! C'mon people! You're running a restaurant. I've worked in enough restaurants over the years to understand health code standards. The place should have been cleaned after the close of business the night before. There is no excuse. We finished our beers that day and did not order food. If they can manage to clean the place, we might go back, but most likely not.

Stopped by here a couple of times now. NO MORE.
First time came in on a hot day to check the place out and get a quick diet coke. Sat down at the bar and waited...was one of about 4 people in the place, Bartender was working with a vendor at the bar. I assume they were looking at a product list. Told me she would be right with me. That took a good 5 minutes..."hello customer, nice to see you, but as you can see, I am too busy right now to serve you." on a scale of 1 to "i'm invisible", I would have been right near the top.
2nd time was after a Seahawks game. Sat at the Bar. Two wait staff behind the bar. Place had people at roughly 5-7 tables. three people sitting at the bar besides me and a buddy. Took staff 5-7 minutes to even recognize that there were two of us sitting and waiting for drinks and menus. Ordered some wings...they were half price seeing as how it was "Happy Hour." finished first beer...ordered second beer...waited..."oh yeah, I forgot"...eventually got second beer. Played a couple games of "8-ball" (at a$1.00 a rack, I might add). Eventually went to the bar and inquired about the wings. Was told that the cook had burned the first order and had to redo them...40 minutes after ordering the wings, I went to the bartender and asked her to cancel our order, we would pursue sustenance elsewhere..."VOILA" the wings appeared. To their credit they did offer us the wings, gratis. We really felt a bit sheepish taking them and leaving. As we put them into a container to go, I couldn't help noticing that the poor chickens that they were taking their wings from were severely undernourished. Wings were on the paltry side meat-wise.
although there was about 8 wings in the order.... Happy hour priced $5 per order. OK. Regular price $10! NO WAY!!
I am sure that others might have found a gem in this place. I guess.
"One man's trash is another man's treasure"
"The Butler Grill" one block south...better wings, better service, not as many TV's, nor menu choices. -

Dam! This place rocks! I've always liked coming 2 this location! Ever since I found out about it back in 2006 from my favorite girl Kristin. Except back then it was called " China Sea"- an old, kinda run down old chinese restaurant that kept the bar open L8. The food @ China Sea was gr8 & so were the drinks! Kristin began working there in 2007 as a bartender & mixed the drinks PERFECTLY! China Sea closed in the summer of 2008 & the location sat empty 4 awhile. Then in early 2010 All Star Sports Bar opened. I came here 4 New Year's Eve last week & had the best time! I did get drunk, but I ran in2 Kristin again. Shes working here as a PT fill in but it was soo good 2 c her again! Shes such a sweet, beautiful woman! I came in here on New Year's Eve around 10:15 p.m. & the place was already packed & there was a $20 cover charge upon entering & I'm thinking that was strictly 4 New Year's, but I'm not sho!? . I was lucky 2 find a seat @ the bar, but was able 2 get a corner seat near the door. There was a live band that night & U got a free mini-bottle of champagne & a plastic champagne glass 4 when midnight arrived. I'm not a fan of champagne, but it was free so what the hell! The drinks were hella good & I liked where I sat because I got 2 talk 2 Kritin once in awhile when she came around 2 make a drink or what have U!? The other women that served me were very sweet & friendly & did a gr8 job! The prices aren't all that bad either! I didn't get 2 eat here that night. Kristin said that they quit serving food a little earlier in the night. The place was clean & well kept & the atmosphere was the off the chain! I've never been in a sports bar I like better than this! If you're ever looking 4 a nice place 4 a drink & gr8 service & wanna avoid the clubs & live in S. King or N. Pierce counties, I'd highly recommend coming here! Fo sho!

Good Times. Great Servers and Bartenders. I have worked my way through the menu and enjoyed every bit of it. I have seen a couple great live bands there on Friday and Saturday. If you want to watch a football game, it is on at All Star, TV's everywhere you look ensure you will not miss the action. They also have Sunday Ticket so i can go there and watch the Seahawks Division Rival games when they are not aired locally. Free Wi-Fi also lets me manage my NFL Leagues during the game. I am a geek I know, Go to a bar to watch my leagues, but they have ample space to watch multiple games so it is not uncomfortable to have a laptop sitting with you away from the crowd if you choose. As you can tell by my review I am not the biggest party animal, which I guess is another reason why I give All Star Sports Bar a five star rating; It is way more than just a place to go Drink.
