Figuring out where to eat out as a family is frustruating at best. Where can you watch the game with decently clad waitresses, get a good selection of beers, excellent food and not break the bank. All Star Pizza does this in a family friendly setting. The pizza nachos are better than what I had at Tommys in St Charles. Fried pizza dough with a sauce, pepperoni, and toppings, this can be a meal in itself. Pizzas are always excellent, and ASP offers a variety of combinations and toppings to satisfy. Burgers and sandwiches are spot on. We were there when the special was steak, and my husband said it was delicious. Beer selection is really good too, competitive with others in the KC area. I have observed families with little kids and they always seem to have a great time. Good Northland treasure.

Review from Matt E.
Well...the pizza is good, and they have an above average beer list. That's gotta count for something, right?
I've had this place on my radar for a while, simply because I had been told by people in the craft beer circles that this Northland restaurant and bar was aggressively trying to make a name for itself. This always struck me as odd, as the name sounds more akin to Showbiz Pizza or Chuck E Cheese than to a beer bar, or any place for people over 9. But not wanting to judge a book by it's cover, I went along with some friends. I was closer to being correct than I had ever seriously imagined.
Walking in the front door, the space is divided into what seems to be a main bar, and a dining room. Our party was too large to fit into the bar, so we were in the dining area. Immediately I felt ill at ease. The place was SERIOUSLY bright and the walls are covered in submissions to some children's coloring contest. There are flyers everywhere about how to raise money for your child's school programs. I can only imagine the uncomfortable juxtaposition of a few guys getting smashed watching the game on TV while a little league team sits at the next table, celebrating a big win. To me, this screams of a major identity crisis. You cannot attempt to be all things to all people, or you'll just do everything in a mediocre manner.
That being said, the food was rather tasty. They have a lot of great specialty pizzas, and the prices were legit. They have a gluten free crust, though they charge extra for it. To me that seems like bad PR. Take a hit on the cost of a crust and be the place that one KNOWS they can take their gluten-sensitive friend or relative. The nachos (which I felt compelled to snap a photo of) were equal parts delicious and disgusting.
Service was bad. bad bad bad. Dude needs to figure out a new career option. I'm sure this cannot be the standard, and we just got a dud. The other employees seemed competent.
I don't even know what else to say about this place. A lot of people like this place, and more power to them. I'm just not in their company. I doubt I'll be back. -

I am EXTREMELY disappointed with my last experience at All Star Pizza. So many things went wrong with our order: first they were out of the appetizer we ordered, the french fries on everyone's plates were cold, my sandwich bun was toasted on the inside but almost frozen on outside, and they brought the wrong side item for my brother's sandwich. We have eaten there several times and it seems like it keeps going downhill.
Fun atmosphere and good beers will keep us coming back but for drinks only, no food. -

Just off 64th St; you have to drive to the back of the shopping center. Good pizza--had the "Florentine". Medium was a little more than 2 people could eat. Crust very good. What drew me there was their beer list--a good selection of craft beers--and blogs mention thry get the latest releases. I enjoyed Deschutes' Black Butte Porter; friend had Chimay in a Chimay goblet. Another diner told us this is locally owned; knew the owner and said they had worked hard to make it a success. I'll be back many times! Also great sports bar--but small.

This place has a LOT going for it, and after one visit, I'm definitely a fan!
First of all, the menu is pretty damn decent for what is basically a sports bar. There are all kinds of options, and I love that you can get a buffalo burger instead of a regular burger (for a slight up charge). I think the real star of the menu, though, is the pizza. You can go the traditional route, or you can go with something like the Shrimpy (which I did). People, they have shrimp on a pizza. (And chorizo, roasted peppers, avocado, and jalapeno sauce) OMG. The bartender told me that I'd be craving this pizza, and 3 days later, I am.
The other pizzas sound pretty good too. They're all brick fired, made fresh (Gluten-free pizza is also available), and there are a wide variety of nontraditional toppings to choose from, if you like to be adventurous. And I do. My husband had the Florentine pizza, which has chicken, prosciutto, spinach, artichokes, and a lot of gooey cheese on it. No red sauce, this one has a creamy sauce, and it was also really good, if a bit cheesy for me. He also had a Greek salad, which he enjoyed. The pizzas are very reasonably priced, and one of the smalls will more than fill you up. I suggest stopping in for dinner with a companion, or two, and ordering a couple of different pizzas so you can taste a bit of everything. But hey, a lot of the menu looked good, and I hear the mac and cheese has few rivals.
Another thing this place has going for it is a good bartender. I'm a bit biased, as he used to be our bartender at another Northland location, but Grant does a great job of keeping your drink full and making sure you have everything you need. He's the kind of bartender that will quickly learn your name, remember you the next time you're in, and have your drink of choice waiting for you as you slide onto a bar stool. At a neighborhood joint like this, that's the right kind of bartender to have.
Lastly, All Star Pizza & Pub is not only a great sports bar, but it's also a place that really focuses on community and highlighting youth athletics. I think it's pretty cool that the owner wants to promote what's going on locally.
The location is a little bit out of the way for non-Northland residents, and it can be a bit difficult to find (it's in the Tuileries Plaza near Em Chamas), but I suggest making the extra effort if you want a decent meal in a laid-back environment. I think I'm going to be a regular here in no time.Listed in: Bar Food

One of my favorite things here is the http://Dot.com special. I have to admit, it's a little thrilling to think that you can go to their website, make up a pizza and just maybe yours will get picked. Though I've never had the honor, every time I've ordered someone else's it has been delectable.
We got a domestic pitcher (8.88, after tax) and the dot com which was shrimp, chicken, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, caramelized onions and spinach with a jalapeno cream sauce. (Drool Worthy on anything). On the wood fired crust (the only kind they have.) The shrimp and chicken both had a nice char on it but the onions brought it all the way home!
I usually get the Thai pie or the Shrimpy, pretty delicious in their own rite but the special is always worth a try. The ribs are good as are the cheesy garlic bread. Oh, and they have srirarcha, but you have to ask for it!
It was/is a super cas(ual) environment. I've noticed it's also a pretty popular hangout for servers in the area. Really good if you want to try a different style of pizza and hang with us Northerners. -

This is a great place for a fun night out. They have a great menu with a lot of options, not just pizza. They also have a great selection of beers beyond typical beers. I loved the food and had a great time, looking forward to going back!

I'd heard all my beer nerd friends talking about this place so I thought I would stop in since I was in the neighborhood. Let me start out by saying that from my limited knowledge of craft beers they seem to have a good selection. The menu on the other hand is pretty bland. I saw a few pizzas that other people were eating, and they didn't look that appetizing so I thought I would try a sandwich instead. I got the Chicken Po' Boy and fries. It was a train wreck. The sandwich consisted of two large pieces of chicken deep fried in a form of tempura batter served in a large baguette bun topped with what I assume was supposed to be a spicy Asian coleslaw. The flavors where all over the place. Nothing worked well together, and forget about picking this thing up and eating it. I had to use a fork and knife. I usually don't complain about the quantity of food that I get, but this was just too big to be a sandwich. The fries weren't much better. There were a lot of them, but that doesn't make up for quality. I'm beginning to think that there are no quality places to eat north of the river. It's a culinary wasteland.

I started out a little meh with ASP. I was excited when they first opened because they were so close to my house and ,if I remember correctly, they had a former PB&J chef design their menu but my first two dining experiences were average at best. Then an interesting thing happened, I went there with my kids. Normally, dining out with my children is far from desirable but I showed up with my children AND 3 additional children and their parents. Most restaurants would see 5 kids and 4 adults and cringe. Not at All Star! They have lot's of long tables that can accommodate groups of any size. Then they did the coolest thing - they gave the kids pizza dough to play with. It was amazing because my boys were having fun, playing quietly and didn't notice when our food took quite a long time. (We ordered wings.) Unfortunately, they no longer can give out pizza dough (health department) but they won my kids over so now whenever we ask where they want to go for dinner, All Star makes the list.
I would say their pizza is solid and has grown on me after many visits. They have good burgers and I like their wings. (whole wing, like the Peanut.) They have a good beer selection and a full bar. They have two sides, I consider one side the adult section and the other the family section but I don't think they make that delineation.
And I must mention- this is not a chain! That's huge! I love to give my $$ to independent restaurant owners whenever I can. -

They added burgers, great burgers to their menu. Better than BRGR or Blanc and cheaper. Plus they have 30 craft beers! Awesome!

This place is kind of a pain in the balls to get to. My driver ended up going down a dead-end and then drove directly past the place thanks to the plaza it's contained in.
You walk in and it's wide open. To the right is the kitchen counter and low seating, to the left is the bar and high-top tables. I think there are about 9 beers on tap, standard domestic stuff. Saw a sign that PBR is always $2, so if you drink that, good for you. There also looked to be some random sangria dispensers and a giant wine bottle with a dispenser that says "Hey Mambo."
Menu has some pizza, salads and sandwiches. The sandwiches are unique-ish. I got the sliders, which is actually two small burgers, one bacon swiss and the other chili. I thought the chili was awful, but enjoyed the meal. Fries are pretty good, mostly due to proper seasoning. My driver got a pizza, which looked pretty good and is definitely what I get on my next visit. Somebody next to us got the $7 lunch special, which is a pizza and salad. The pizza is so small it fits on the same plate with the salad. While it's probably what I should be eating, I wouldn't recommend it unless you want to be hungry an hour later.
The owner or manager came over and chatted us up a bit. Gave us some cards to get on their mailing list for specials. I found it odd that it asked for my spouse's name and email, so I just put down a random man's name as my significant other. -

Above average pizza but a little pricey. That might be justifiable since everything is clearly handmade. This isn't your traditional pizza here. I suppose you can get something close to that but for the most part everything about this pie is different all the way down to the crust. I've never had a pizza like it before. All Star makes several pizzas with very different ingredients. They have pies with seafood and avocado etc.. Good stuff if you're looking for something a little different. Nice place to watch games also. The service was good. I was well taken care of everytime I've visited. It's worth checking out.

This is becoming my favorite pizza joints. The food is fresh and usually handmade. The speciality pizzas are really good, especially the buffalo pizza. The regular mainstream pizzas aren't the best I've tasted but they're alright.
They have a full bar with high top tables and several TVs if you want to watch your favorite game. There is a huge black chalkboard on the wall by the bar that has all the ranking of various sports teams.
They usually have live music on Thursdays nights, and sometimes it can be pretty good. If the weather is nice they'll have the band outside on the patio. There's also a sand volleyball court to play on if you'd like. -

Casual friendly place to enjoy great food and your favorite game. Can't decide what to eat? Ask for "The Vick", it is a white sauce pizza with shrimp, bacon and other goodies. INCREDIBLE!

Best option for beer you can find coming back from the airport. Awesome pizza. Overall a very good place that does a good job. If I lived closer i would be a regular. All I can do now is plan my flights around an opportunity to visit.
