4 reviews for All Seasons Sports
This place is awesome. If you need tennis gear, there is nowhere else to go.
If you need a racquet re-strung, they have done it in 4 hours for me dozens of times. They know their racquets inside and out.
I teach tennis and send all my clients here for anything they need because the people there never try to up-sell people on something that won't actually benefit them if they're not at a level where it matters.
You owe it to yourself to go here and just talk to them about whatever you're looking for.
All Seasons Sports is close to where I live and was the first place I thought of when I decided to finally get my long-neglected skates sharpened. I had never been there before though I must have driven by the place hundreds of times as it is right on the corner of Comm Ave and Centre Street. I was a bit confused when I called to inquire about rates and hours because I was pretty sure I was talking to a 10 year old girl. Sure enough, the owner's daughter was helping out around the store when I arrived. It was surprisingly busy, I think I was number 5 or 6 in the sharpening queue, but the owner was very nice and apologetic about the wait (I was there for about 20 minutes total). For a small shop they have a little bit of everything. On the main floor there is skiing and hockey gear and in the basement they have skates and lots of tennis rackets. Aside from the skate sharpening service ($6 as of 2/09 and he did a great job) they also string tennis rackets. Oh, and they also allow customers to trade in their skates towards a new pair. If you're in need of ski, hockey, or tennis equipment I'd stop in and see what they have to offer.
I used to be kind of intimidated by this place and never went in. I thought you had to be named "Muffy" and well-to-do to shop here. Not so! They've given it a more populist name "All Season Sports" and they specialize in tennis and ski equipment and attire but they also sell a variety of useful things (namely hockey gear) at moderate prices but when you throw in the personal service (rather than wandering the aisles of Ski Market or Modell's looking for help), it's worth going there. It is a small space and alot is packed in but you're never permitted to wander around lost even if you're not "dressed for Vail." And did I mention they sharpen skates (and well)?
What a disappointment! I never played hockey growing up but my kids adore it. I live close to this shop and was hoping it would be a cut above the chain sports stores -- like maybe they would be local people who liked hockey and could help me understand the equipment etc. The disappointment is that the people who work there are really crabby. For example, once my son's stick broke and he needed another for a practice the next day. They just said they "didn't have any sticks for kids" and they "didn't know where else you could get them." Just no attempt to try to help. Another time I was trying to figure out about mouth guards, and it was like pulling teeth to get them to talk about it. So WHY PAY THEIR HIGH PRICES if you don't even get good service? BEWARE ESPECIALLY THEIR RENTAL PROGRAM. After I gave up on them, I went shopping around, and realized the price they charge for seasonal rental --coupled with the quality -- is a sad state.
