A very pleasant, welcoming, relatively low-church (no incense, said mass, but altar bells--go figure) Episcopal parish. Lots of activities. Seems to be growing recently. Recently added a choir. Lots of support for children and youth, with programs for both younger kids and for teens during the liturgy of the word, and child care 9-11:45 Sundays.

This is a beautiful, loving parish, that meets in an exquisitely crafted cathedral with incredible acoustics. The Carpenter Gothic sanctuary was originally built in Oakland, six miles from its present location, but in the 1930s, as the parish population shifted, and a new congregation formed in San Leandro with no facilities, it was decided to move the entire building to its present location. The sanctuary is graced with powerfully beautiful stained glass windows depicting the major points in the life of Christ, which were created by a master glass artist in England.
I am not a member of this parish or church, but have attended numerous cultural events here and am always impressed with the wonderful feeling that abides here. The congregation is friendly and genuine, the Rector seems to be very integrated with the parish and its needs, and there is a sense of love here that cannot be described.

Great worship. Great feeding program that brings in the entire community. ADA accessible building is shared with other non-profits at very low cost. Check out the website: http://saintsalive.net
