An UNBELIEVABLE experience!
Jason and Jerry made magic refinishing our hardwood floors and they are stellar. Fast, professional, and really nice guys. Important because they're going to be around for a few days and if they weren't nice, those few days would seem like an eternity.
On time, on budget, exceeded my expectations...now that's customer service! -

Nothing like falling into the shallow end of the real estate pool to make you realize that besides complete furnace & ducting transplants, roof botox, sewer dissection & electrical knob & tube pacemakers, 104yo houses have 104yo floors that need some TLC if not CPR. Luckily for us that's where having the dream team of real estate agents comes in handy cuz who else can seriously recommend more than one company to choose from AND be able to say they've actually seen the work before & after? Jason and his brother, Jerry, are 3rd generation flooring guys and came highly recommended having done an excellent job on our agent's and her sister's houses. They gave us a realistic bid on replacing the soft fir floors upstairs (the 85lb muppet says SCRRRRITCH to your weenie 380 janka hardness rating) with Siberian oak and re-finished the tired maple flooring in the kitchen. They came in ~$500 under the competitors whose business plan apparently consisted of nickel-ing & dime-ing us for things you would think are part & parcel of having your floors done...like removing doors to give the sander & buffer access to the doorway & replacing the floor moulding when they're done. Silly wabbit that costs *extra*!
We've had our floors refinished by the misanthropic Slobbini brothers & their hygiene-challenged cousin Earl http://www.yelp.com/bi... up in Sea-town & have experienced the slovenly & apathetic. Now we've upgraded to the genial & conscientious. J & J left the house cleaner than they found it. No sawdust or 50lb bags of sawdust/garbage lying around. They even spent 40 minutes to re-size our sliding closet doors to glide better over the new floors--apparently they originally weren't fitted that well to begin with. AND they finished on time and on budget while having to deal with sabotage from the furnace guys who left brick dust footprints across the floors after they had been sanded [deep sigh. shakes head.]. So now we have shiny-new-nearly-killer-muppet-proof floors upstairs and the shabby, gouged maple floors in the kitchen are so beautiful I find myself hypnotized while cooking meals...at least that's my excuse for burning the crème brûlée & I'm sticking to it. Next to replace the original 104 yo top nail oak floors that are so trashed that the tongue & groove is sticking up & saying, "Hi!" so it'll have to be new Siberian oak to the rescue. I wonder if the tooth fairy accepts muppet teeth....Listed in: Home Is Where the Heart Is
