(plus five hearts from my own personal rating system)
Me n' my BF order delivery from All India Cafe a lot. More than I'd like to admit. I thought it's high time I show them some Yelp love.
The food here is friggin delicious. We always get the chicken tikka masala, the Tandori platter, saffron rice and a side of mixed vegetables...come to think of it, that's all we've ever ordered.
Why mess with a good thing?
Recently, we had relatives visit from Nebraska who had never tried Indian food before. Ordered the previously mentioned items and they loved it!
Delivery is fast and the phone order guy is the most courteous and efficient I've ever encountered.
Best of all, I can stretch this meal. I take it to work with me and I have another 1-2 lunches. -

If you want Americanized Indian food, this is the place.
Everything here tasted very mild, this place might be a good introduction to people who have never tried it since it really doesn't pack a punch.
Tandoori Platter - an assortment of meats that was spiced very mildly, ground up beef sausage, steak chunks, and chicken on the bone and off, it was alright but a bit steep at $15.95
Aloo Mattar - Potatoes & Peas, I enjoyed it. Again, very mild.
Naan sucks.
They charge for rice too.
All in all - it's a bit overpriced for what you are getting, but it wasn't bad.
Parking - lot
Location - on 2nd floor of strip mall plaza on the corner of Bundy and SM Blvd -

One of my favorite Indian places in LA. The shahi paneer is the BEST I have had here!!! The Dahi Puri is a favorite appetizer. Yes, it's in a strip mall, but it's a great place. The delivery is pretty fast too!

Wow, this place is kind of amazing for lunch. I was going to the acu-center next door and was a little early. I went in at 11:30 for the lunch buffet and was pleasantly surprised when I a mango lassi, and all you can eat ended up being about $15. The food was hot, and tasty. Definitely a good place if you're craving Indian and don't want to settle with only getting 2 samosas for lunch.

I've eaten at All India Cafe three times now, and haven't been disappointed once. Great curry dishes, and pretty much my favorite samosas ever. Perfect service and a good atmosphere too. I really don't understand the bad reviews. This and Jaipur are my go-to Indian places on the west side. Dishes are _slightly_ on the sweet/Americanized side, which costs this place its 5th star.

I usually really like this place but tonight I ordered from here and ended up getting raw chicken. It was horrible and I am hesitant to order from here again.

Stay away from the Chef's Specialty Chicken Curry. Nastiest curry I've ever had in my life. EVER. It was completely like eating sugar except in the worst, most unpleasant way possible. 13 Bucks down the drain. :( How about a little warning, AIC?

I'm a huge fan of Indian food and immediately fell in love the first time we came here. Starting off, the decor is spot-on and really has a fun vibe. Sometimes they even play Bollywood music videos projected on a screen, which makes for great conversation starters. Also, their waiters are really warm and welcoming, always a great plus in any restaurant.
But the real reason for my ravings is their food. I love their Samosas, Lamb Saag, Fish Curry, Lamb Vindaloo, Green Chicken Tandoori (really wonderful), and pretty much everything on their menu. Plus, if you have a sweet tooth, the Gulab Jamun is a definite must.
If you're in the mood for some great Indian fare and a fun, exotic ambiance, I would most definitely recommend coming here. -

I had lunch at All India cafe this last week. I had the lunch buffet. Now I am coming from being spoiled by Mana's buffet near USC (which is some really good Indian food). Nothing at All India tasted very good. I tried a couple of the different curries and they were all mediocre at best (bad at worst). The chicken tikka was the best but the meat was fatty and grisly and the curry itself was a lot soupier than I'm used to. Saag is usually one of my favorites but the one served at All India was barely edible. After one bite, I never went near it again. The service was good and everyone who worked there was very concerned about us being happy which is always nice. I'm not usually in the Santa Monica area so I'm not sure where I'd recommend in the area, but for now I'll stick to Mana's for my buffets.

I Order from here at least once a week for lunch although I have never actually dined in before.
The food is great. It's very Mild unless you specifically ask for it to be made spicy. You have to expect that with some people not being able to handle spices.
The gentleman on the phone, I'm not sure of his name, Always recognizes my voice and knows me by name. He remembers what some of my usual orders are and this makes ordering a sinch.
The delivery guy is super nice and always on time.
Definitely a place to consider and just make sure if you like your food with some kick, to let them know to make it spicy for you. -

Wow, great stuff. I have lived and worked in India and this is my go to spot, Sookdeh is so nice and the delivery service is so fast and on time. This food is better than what you will find in India, since all the ingredients are fresh and very little chance of catching one of the many bugs you do when visiting India. Go there and eat and be happy!! It is the best!!!

Sadly, I'm still in search of decent Indian food in Southern California. The All India Cafe was the absolute worst Indian food I have ever had in my life.
Both my boyfriend and I ordered delivery, and both of our chicken was undercooked. His chicken was extremely undercooked. Luckily we only had one piece each before we stopped eating, otherwise we would have gotten sick.
The naan was very bland, and the basmati rice was exceptionally bland. Having eaten at many excellent Indian restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area I have been extremely disappointed with the offerings in LA since moving back here six months ago.
I don't plan to ever order food from the All India Cafe again. -

Yesterday I came back to the AIC for their famed $8.95 all-you-can-eat from 11:30 to 3 luncheon buffet. Since I was the only one there for a while, I admired their colorful decorations and pretended that the whole place was gearing up just for me!
Then they finished setting out the food (I arrived twenty minutes before they opened; the door was open) and gave me the green light. I loaded my plate and tucked in. Very tasty! Of course I ordered two glasses of their delicious Nimbu Paani to wash down all the Indian goodness. I described the Nimbu before, but here it is again: Imagine cold carbonated lemonade, very sweet, with a strong shot of ginger syrup and a good squeeze of lime juice. Great stuff!
As for the food -- just a touch less spectacular than the items on the main menu, but very good, and hey! you can stuff your face and stomach with it for three and a half hours if you like! Well worth the price!Listed in: Favorite Eateries and Markets

Such a cute little strip mall Indian food place! Great quality food, good portions, and very friendly/solicitous servers. The food came out super fast and was delicious. Parking was weird because it's a strip mall on the corner, if you don't get a spot in the surface lot you go down this windy ramp. Go to the ladies room and check out the funky art on the walls. It's fun and will make you smile!

One of the few high quality Indian restaurants in LA. The food is almost completely Punjabi/North India (There are a couple of dishes like Uttappam and Sambar, but I never ordered).
Great take out place and also a nice place for a sit down dinner. There is some parking at the location, bTW. -

We get this delivered to the office and it's good every time. Thumbs up for consistency. The food is top notch. It's a solid four stars. Tandoori chicken is my favorite here, but the curries are also phenomenal. Good flavor all around with nothing overpowering anything else. Give it a try if you're in the area and looking for some super solid Indian cuisine.

What a big disappointment!!
I came here to try to AYCE $9 buffet and it wasn't even worth it. The buffet choices were woefully limited, and whatever choices I had did not look appealing. Did I want to orange goopy looking sauce or the red watery sauce?
The basmati rice was clumpy and not flavored (just white). Maybe I got there on a bad day but even your basic chicken tikka masala was bad. And I've been to enough Indian buffets to know. The sauce was watery with little clumps and the chicken chunks were dry. The fish was bland and tasted like something from the freezer aisle.
Like the other reviewers I agree that the veggie samosa and veggie pakora (fried battered veggies) were pretty delicious especially with the tamarind or mint sauce. Beware of the yogurt sauce (tasted funky). I would say the only reason it has two instead of 1 star is the garlic naan was pretty good: fluffy, warm and garlicky.
The owner was very nice and jolly. This place would be a great place for a nice lunch with the folk decor and tapestries along the walls and ceiling. But honestly with all the other indian restaurants in the area to try (India's Oven, Samosa House, Tandoori House, etc) I see no reason to come back again. -

Los Angeles, CA
Good food and good service ruined by abso-frickin-lutely terrible company. Overall, this place has very few issues if at all. The tofu and chicken masala are flavorful, and good lord, their naan is fresh (and in its garlic form, PERFECT).
Now let me tell you a story. We ended up with a gigantic party of 13. My lady and I make a conscious decision to save money, by sharing one soda, and one of us eating a cheaper, vegetarian dish. Let me break it down for you really well. $8.95 for the Vegetarian curry, $11.95 for the Nirvana Chicken (Tandoori Chicken in Masala sauce), $2.50 for a Diet Coke, $2.75 for a basket of Naan (4 pieces, we each had two pieces) and $2.50 for a little boat of rice. The pre-tax total comes out to $28.65. Plus ~10% tax, comes out to $31.52. With a ~18% tip, the total comes out to about $37.50. When the "split bill" comes out to $25 per person, I get livid. The asshats in the party decided to try out extra stuff and try to pass on their excess among the group and pretend they owe no more.
INCREDIBLE. I come to find out later after having a conversation with the servers/owner the next day, that the bill could have been (and SHOULD HAVE BEEN) split among the respective parties, limiting tension. But no, day of the giant party, the asshats decided to split it evenly on cards, and in their moment of genius, not write exactly who owed what on each card. Guess what? I got stuck with a $71.25 bill. Needless to say I was f-ing livid. Guess what again? I'm not eating with you fools anymore. Perhaps we should have (1) split the checks (before and even AFTER the meal) and (2) brought exact cash equaling what you owe, and we wouldn't have a problem. You bet your ass I had a sour taste in my mouth.
I have the receipt copies to prove how much I actually owe. Thank you, All India Cafe, for having excellent customer service. I have come back here for the $8.95 lunch time buffet with great success. I will definitely come back here again minus asshats. I did end up receiving about $28 in backpay of what I overpaid. I'm still waiting for the rest of my ~$5. No it won't come out in the wash, you owe me money. -

Free food is always good - Disclaimer: I get free food from All India Cafe through my company.
Even though my company caters on every Friday providing us with free food, on the days we order All India Cafe, we are all the more excited than many other free food days.
Once a month, All India Cafe fills my entire company with this wonderful smell of Buttered Chicken, Lamb Vindaloo, Samosas, Naans... Everything from this place is delicious. (I have tried at least 15 items through their catering service.)
Their catering service is wonderful, even though not ALWAYS on time. It really sucks when we have half of our company lined up outside the lunch room and the food is not here. Boo! -
Review from Eugene O.
We do our regular Indian Wednesdays here with the work crew, and needless to say, this place is a staple of my week.
Lunchtime is more than reasonable in terms of volume. There are plenty of seats available. The buffet is a solid $8.99 for all you can eat goodness. The selections aren't vast, and that is a minor gripe, but needless to say it does the trick. My favorites: the samosas (always fresh), the chicken tikka masala, the fish curry with coconut milk and the lentils. Extremely healthy, fresh and delicious.
Dessert options are few, but you get the rice pudding (absolutely to die for) and fresh fruit.
Staff is friendly and let you choose between garlic and regular non, and are very attentive to clearing plates and filling beverages.
All in all - a great go to spot.
HINT: Park underground if you can't find it on the street level. There's plenty there. -
Review from Debbie H.
Loved it! Found this place because it's around the corner from our LA office. I saw the sign for lunch buffet $8.95 and I was in!
The restaurant is located upstairs in a small strip mall and has about 10 or so tables. The buffet was great, a mixture of apps including samosas, a nice salad spread and various meat and vegetable dishes. I really liked their take on dal and chicken tikka masala. How can you mess that up really but it tasted way different than any I've had in my day including London.
It is a quick, inexpensive way to spend a 20 minute lunch if you are in the area, and I will be back again next time I'm in town! -

Great food and friendly service
Went here for work with a co-worker for their AYCE buffet. I've been to other Indian lunch buffets, so feel I have a pretty good taste if this place was legit or not.
It was!
Fresh salad, plentiful food offerings including chicken tikka masala, chicken curry (my fav), daal, samosas, different veggie combinations and fresh salad.
Choice of regular or garlic naan -- we got the garlic. Fresh, fluffy and crispy.
Big yumm. And the owner actually came out to greet us and ask how our food was.
All for only $8.95! :) -

We needed to try something new for delivery as all of our delivery guys pretty much know me by name now and can comment when I hang up a new picture or something... In my defense, I have a really tiny kitchen that makes me angry.
Anyway, gave All India Cafe a shot and it was really good. I had the Fish Tikka and Mate had the Chicken Tikka. I was expecting more than meat & rice for the price tag - veggies, anyone? But what we got was flavorful, hot, and filling.
There will certainly be a next time, and I'll order a side of veggies :) -

Got in at about 7:45 on a Thursday evening and it was empty other than our party. We had a large party (13), and some people slowly trickled in throughout the night but it was basically empty. The good part about this is that the waiters were incredibly attentive. They refilled our drinks constantly and were right there when we were ready to order. It should be noted, though, that the pop (soda for you silly Southern Californians) comes in a can so you don't get refills on that. The iced tea, though, was pretty darn good. It had a bit of a mint flavor to it and was very refreshing.
The food? Decent. Started with some samosas, of which I've had better. These were almost all potato so they tasted a bit bland. I had the chicken vindaloo, which is a chicken curry. I asked for them to make it as spicy as they could, which still turned out to not be very spicy. I had to ask for extra hot sauce, which luckily was pretty darn tasty as well. The rice was a little bland as was the naan. The garlic naan was a little less bland, as it had a hint of garlic flavor, but it really could have used a lot more garlic. The rice and naan were not included in the meal, of course, so things got a little more pricey than expected pretty quickly.
Also, at the end, when the bill was split, they ended up mistaking two of the credit cards and charging the wrong amount. It's a bit understandable when we had as many people as we did, but it still leaves a sour taste in the mouth.
All-in-all, it was a pretty enjoyable evening with mostly good service. I'll probably go back with a smaller party to see try some other food on the menu and see if the end-of-meal service problem was a one time thing. -
Review from Jenny B.
For $8.95 lunch-AYCE, this place is not bad at all. They might not have the great selection (about 8 dishes or so), but the grilled chicken and the curry was very good. Recently I found out that instead of plain Naan, they actually had garlic naan, which was great. I could just munch that for the whole lunch, it's so good.
Service was not bad and they have selection for vegetarian too, so not bad at all. I like to come here for a quick bite and parking is easy too. -

An interesting little spot. There was a crazy older white lady who was reading a book, with a booklamp thing holding her place, while she was eating, and having her wine. That was fine, except she kept doing that thing where you press your palms together, like you're praying, for EVERYTHING she asked the servers for... Plus she kept deciding to switch tables randomly? The servers probably thought she was weird, but they didn't let her phase them....
As far as service and food... Service was great. More of an upscale type of restaurant where they were ready to help you out for every beck and call, though they could be a bit pushy on getting you to order naan or rice.... that and the several instances we were asked if we wanted to order drinks makes me strongly suspect the owner/manager really pushes them to sell drinks. Food-wise wasn't too bad, but definitely not the best I've had. Some dishes a bit luke warm, the naan on the colder side...
Bottom line, if we were looking for Indian food in a pinch, we may be back, but it wouldn't be our first choice... -

Lunch Review:
$8.95 AYCE lunch. 8 hot tray items on rotation (with tandori chicken, chicken masala and rice the constant). Salad, yogurt, deep fried vegetable thing and potato thing too. I can't remember the names! And not to forget, garlic or non-garlic naan.
In any event, the place is never crowded for lunch, so you get attentive service refilling your water and naan as you please. All the dudes are very polite and helpful and have seen them try very carefully to explain what is in their food. For me, I pretty much enjoy all of it, except maybe the lentils. I think that is an acquired taste.
All their chicken dishes are very moist despite sitting in a heating table and not being switched out too much due to low volume. Aside from the chicken masala, my favorite when on rotation is the fish curry. Pretty good.
I have no idea if this is authentic or whatever. All I know is that I get good service, a nice large table, my water cup never empties and I'm out the door with a $12 bill. I guess you can make it $11 if you are a cheapa$$. I always say nothing good every comes out of skimping on tips. Besides, these guys are great and deserve at least an extra buck. They always seem so happy to have customers.
I guess some of the customers that come in here are odd folks, so you might get an interesting story or two out of your dining experience.
I would say that this place has better food than Nizaam and much better than Gate of India. -

Is there anything better than chicken marsala with a side of naan? Probably not, and if there is, you will probably be ADDICTED FOR LIFE after just ONE PUFF!
All India has a great lunch buffet for $8.95, which is about how much you'd pay for an entree anyway. The best thing is that the lunch buffet is available on Saturdays, too. There were about 8 options in the buffet, along with an optimistic (but mostly ignored) salad and an interesting rice pudding.
Unfortunately, I left feeling a bit unsure about the food. I don't know how authentic the food was, but it was only mildly spicy and the naan tasted distinctly off. It wasn't bad, but it was much too eggy, which was a bit distracting. It tasted more like a pop-over than it did naan. Is this normal? Again, I don't know how authentic this was, maybe all the other naan I've had in the past was off. Other than that, the buffet only has chicken and veggies. I wasn't exactly enamored with the veggies, but the chicken marsala was more than decent.
While we were there, the servers were very solicitous and friendly, but seemed a bit unsure about the removal of plates from our table. It was pretty quiet the whole time we were there, which was nice. Decor was a bit unnerving, as there are mirrors on practically every vertical surface. Out of the corner of my eye I kept seeing movements and then I'd realize it was just me chewing. On the whole, I got the (pleasant) impression that we were not dining at the busy and oft-trafficked intersection of Santa Monica Blvd and Bundy Dr.
Everything taken into consideration, I had a great meal for a decent price and I would probably visit again, and maybe order something new from the menu. -
Review from Toni L.
I was really impressed with this place until I found out how much it cost.
Food: My friend and I got takeout: Chicken tikka masala (http://www.yelp.com/bi...), curry of the day (http://www.yelp.com/bi...), and garlic naan (http://www.yelp.com/bi...). While the curries had an amazing savory, creamy flavor and were not watery, the portions were pretty small. The chicken here is amazingly tender! If there was a bone, that meat would be flaking off of it. We also got rice which lasted a total of 5 minutes. The naan was truly delicious, but again, there wasn't much of it to go around. We split the cost and I ended up paying $15 bucks.

I've been doing a lot of strip mall eating lately and the All India Cafe has been a nice little treat amongst my strip mall dining.
I like that you can get dinner combinations where you can try a little of everything. A lot of Indian food in the area only allows you to do that at lunch time for the buffet. The nan was nice and hot, the dal of the day was tasty and the locale was dark and.. red. I hear they used to project old bollywood movies on the walls. Wish I could have been there for that.
I'm looking forwards to my leftovers. -

Yummy, yummy... in my tummy!
I don't remember how exactly our group stumbled upon this restaurant. It's tucked in an unassuming strip mall - on the second floor, no less. It's got a lovely atmosphere and the wait staff was really friendly.
I ended up ordering the Shahi Paneer - from the description the sauce sounded similar to the Punjabi Chola I like so much from Trader Joe's minus the Chola (garbanzo beans). It was delightfully yummier than I expected. This was perfect because I didn't wan't to stuff myself silly with proteins that night.
My bf ended up getting their Chicken Tikka Masala and I had a bite - OMG SO GOOD!!! I didn't want to give his plate back. It was a similar tomato based sauce but something about the Chicken Tikka was so buttery and rich - but not so rich I couldn't eat the whole plate.
I also had a mango lassi as if our meal wasn't decadent enough.
With the entree dinner you have the choice of either regular naan or garlic naan. Our waiter gave us the "get the garlic naan" eye so that's what we ended up getting - really yummy with the dishes!
For you ladies, please take a trip to the bathroom there! There's a very informative and equally charming mural there. My friend and I both had a chuckle over it in secret - the boys had no idea. I love it!
Overall I recommend trying this place out! -

If I didn't know that Chandhi existed just up the way on Wilshire, I would have some more love for All India Cafe', but Chandhi is just so much better that it makes it hard for me to give AIC anymore than 3 stars.
They do have absolutely fantastic naan though. It is so nice and warm, fluffy, and the perfect companion to all your saucy delights (that's what she said). What I also like about this place is that it's always really clean! Your glasses are clean, your plate is clean, the table is clean, everything is clean! (never used the bathroom though, so that could change)
When it comes to the food, however, it's just not the best tasting Indian food that I've ever had. I feel like the dishes are hit or miss and don't have that consistency that many of us like in our Indian food. I've only been here for the buffet, but I've been here numerous times for the buffet, only to find that sometimes I really like the dishes and other times, I hate them. Sometimes the rice is all crunchy and weird, other times, it's fluffy and great. I can't explain it.
Again, if Chandhi didn't exist, I'd like this place more, but it's just ok and not nearly as good as many of the other local Indian spots. -

The buffet is OUTSTANDING. About 8 types of curry to choose from and they all taste GREAT!! I also love their Samosa's!!!
The buffet costs about 9 bucks and they serve you Naan bread with that. The Naan bread is SUPER awesome and FRESH.

The lunch specials are good, especially the shrimp tandoori salad. And the buffet is even better, with lots of fresh and yummy food, although I know you can get cheaper elsewhere.
I just really hate the service. It seems like the food takes forever when you order there. And sometimes they won't even come by to take a drink order. My old boss and I used to come here and he'd constantly have to wave them over to get them to notice us.
So this place gets 3 stars based on food only. And even that was sometimes a little too much on the salty side. But the salad dressings really good. Service sucks.
