These guys are great at assessing what will improve your physique and making a fitness plan to get you there.
Good assortment of equipment. -

About me: I sprint on a treadmill for 3 minutes, lift at a high intensity for 15 minutes and shower off. The gym has a great selection of equipment that is in top shape and is always accessible.
For my needs, I feel that the price is a little high compared to my old gym in Walnut Creek which was $19 a month. The staff is friendly (they let me charge my phone at the front desk), and they have a lot of training and amenities for those who are interested. -

I am rejoining this gym because I cannot make it to ClubOne as often as I would like. I have been SPOILED by the wonderful amenities and eye candy at clubone for years and it will take some adjustment but after shopping around the 'hood, it seems like this is my best bet for the time being.
I did check out both the Berkeley and Albany Y and was disgusted by both. Albany Y is a tiny gym, but the ventilation is horrible and it is very cramped. You are basically in your neighbor's lap working out. Straight up FUNKY.
My needs are pretty basic - I will mostly use eliptical and treadmill and some cardio classes. My problems with this place are that they have NO childcare or plans to facilitate it, they do not have the space for hot tub or sauna, and the do not have zumba. They are however, extremely clean, well ventilated, and convenient. Hoping I get my money's worth at All in One Fitness! -

I like this gym. The staff is friendly and looks knowledgeable. I haven't take any cllasses. I also like their cleanliness because I am sorta OCD and find bad smells repulsive. I am training to run my first 5k and I hope to keep it up to run iron man , lol
I think their bodybuilding equipment is cool. I like to lift weights and the atmosphere is very motivational.
Exercising is a good excuse to get rid of stress; I really love the energy after a workout routine and feel all those endorphines, hehee
I hope to run marathons in all the 50 states before I turn 50 he he
keep up the good work:) -

I'm confused by Gabby R's review so I thought I'd chime in.
Let's just break it down by comment. She claims she didn't realize what a good deal she had at the Berkeley YMCA at $62 per month.
http://www.baymca.org/...
~~~
Berkeley YMCA is $62 per month with a $99 initiation fee. For a year, that equals $867
All in One Fitness requires a $200 enrollment fee, and is $49 a month when you sign up for a year. For a year that equals $788
Numbers may not be your game, but All in one Fitness is INDEED cheaper than the Berkeley YMCA. Yes, you have to sign up for a year at that price, but why go to a gym if you are not commited?
~~~
Free parking? The YMCA offers validated parking in a ramp lot that takes at least 10 minutes to get in and out of between waiting in line, taking the elevator, walking in and out.
All in One Fitness is a neighborhood location with PLENTY of parking all around it. It does not have a lot but I've never walked more than 25 yards from my street parking space to the gym.
~~~
A locker to use as your own? Theft is a big problem at the Berkeley YMCA. I've been present twice (and I barely went to the gym there) where people had their locks cut while they were working out and had to go up to the front desk IN A TOWEL because someone stole all their possessions, including their clothes.
All in One fitness is small enough that they recognize all their members and know all of them by name. No one gets into that place willy nilly. If you look like you don't belong there, we all notice. AIOF has lockers and yes, you can't hoard one as your own forever and ever, but there are plenty to use.
~~~
She's right about the pool and towels. These services aren't offered at AIOF.
~~~
I'd also like to add that the bathrooms at the Berkeley YMCA are reminiscent of an internment camp. All in one Fitness' are new, clean, and bright.
I was a member of Berkeley YMCA for two years. I was overweight, undermotivated, and I really really hated it. I thought I just hated gyms in general, but that's not true. I hated the YMCA. All in one fitness is full of staff and members that get to know you. They encourage you and your fitness goals and they know you by name. It's a small friendly atmosphere and it really gets you motivated. I've been a member for 3 months and in that timespan have lost 8 pounds through just feeling happy and motivated enough to work out regularly. It's not a chore to go there, it's a fun part of my day. I can't say enough good things about the small, personal atmosphere here.
That's all. Just really irked me to see a 2 star review of this great gym full of misleading information. -
Top 10 Equally Compelling Reasons Why I Love This Gym:
1) This gym is very clean. A staff member frequently goes around with a nozzle cleaning the equipment or vacuuming the floor.
2) You're paying to use state-of-the-art equipment. Like their Livestrong spin bikes and several funky-massive-ergonomically perfect weight machines in the weight room.
3) The people who work there are well-rounded and nice in a way that's not phony or flirty. Jasmine is one of the owners. She is very amicable, hardworking and focused like a laser. The satisfaction of the gym members is important to her. Brandy is very sweet. Yannick is always very cordial and respectful. He even helped me to translate a note into his native German language once. Christian is a trainer who's the one who signed me up in the first place. He's a very spiritual, friendly and gentle soul. He never pressured me to sign up for any membership contracts. Once he corrected me on my form while I was weight-lifting which was well-appreciated.
4) Kara's spin classes are AMAZING! Kara has the energy charge of an atom bomb (or Tsarbomba), lightening or dynamite. I mean that in a good way. She has a special way of coaching and inspiring people to bolden up during the spin class to give (at minimum) their 101%. But she's careful too and cautions us not to over-exert ourselves. Some days ago, she was able to to tell that one of the spinners was favoring her left knee and told her to be careful if anything was wrong with her knees. I like that her big energy is contagious. I always feel more alert and present during her classes. She is open-minded with a great personality with a hilarious sense of humor. She has a cute little dog named Ringo who comes to the gym sometimes. I also love Kara's spin class jams. I love her music mixes- along the lines of La Roux, Cyndi Lauper's relatively recent new music and beyond.
5) Another AWESOME spin teacher is Katie Prater! Katie is a fitness trainer and graduate of a top university. She teaches spin classes in the early mornings like at 5:45am on Tuesdays. I admire her because she treks all the way from the City in the early morning and is still working at the gym in the late evening. I love Katie's style of teaching spinning. Her classes are very structured, organized, challenging and spirited. She leads us in the class with a lot of earnestness and power. Sometimes after class she'll have us do some ab work which I love because they're unique exercises that I've never come across in any of the fitness magazines like Shape. (And I've been subscribing them for a couple of years!) She's very kind and I love to hear her stories about her interesting past.
6) The facility is quite beautiful for a gym. The bathrooms and shower stalls are all new too.
7) There is no wait time to use a treadmill, elliptical machine or any other cardio/weight machines. There's never a lot number of people walking around hogging machines.
8) The price is right. Personally, I think I'm getting a good deal based on my positive experiences.
9) The crowd who come here are really cool local Albany , El Cerrito & Berkeley folks. The people who I've met here include Jenny who is a very big-hearted and ravishing olderish woman who boxes and bikes outdoors. It's a diverse crowd at least half of which are very open and friendly. And no one's hovering over anyone with pickup lines like you see at a few of the 24Hour Nautilus gyms.
10) I love the variety and uniqueness of classes that are offered here! Like Spinning, boxing, Zumba, suspension classes, etc.!
All in all, this gym is MAGNIFICENT! I've either worked out or scoped out the other local gyms (like Berkeley Y, Phoenix gym) and this one is my personal favorite because I value the passionate commitment of the entire staff and the quality of the tangible and intangible first-rate fitness resources here. -
Went there for the first time yesterday, fantastic! New state-o-art facilities with a street vibe. Met Cristian the trainer - clearly comfortable in himself, honestly wanting to connect, and with a joy for life. Fellow worker-outers were wonderful, too.
Five stars! -
Ever since I joined All In One Fitness this past March, I have been so impressed with the facilities, the staff, and especially with the other members of the club. It truly feels like the neighborhood gym. I've become re-acquainted with friends from the past who've also joined, and have made new friends as we've worked out together on the resistance machines or in the club's awesome classes (the Body Suspension class kicks my butt every Monday and Wednesday evenings!)
In a very short time, Jasmine, Kara, and the rest of the staff have gotten to know me and now greet me by name each time I come in. That never happened when I belonged to other gyms, even after attending on a regular basis for years! That may seem like a smal thing, but stuff like that matters to me, especially when there are so many other work-out options in the area.
My weight loss goal for 2011 is to lose around 30 lbs. Thanks to the staff at All in One Fitness, I've already lost 10, just since March!!! A great big "Thank You!!" to All in One Fitness, you guys rock!! -
Review from Kat C.
Boulder, CO
I love the supportive, non judgmental, encouraging environment at all in one fitness. I am currently trying to loose weight and strengthen my core because I suffer from back pain. Pascha, my trainer, is so very patient with me, and challenges me each workout. What I like most is that she pays attention to what my body is saying and pushes me without letting me hurt myself. She really knows her rehab. In just a few months my back pain is almost gone, and I definitely notice that I'm firmer and have better posture. (I did 42 real push ups the other day.) Now I'm hoping that once I can be more consistent with eating (applying to grad school in this economy sucks!), I'll really see some weight loss results. I highly highly recommend her and them.
Also, for those of you who can't afford the one-on-one, though it's so worth it, consider some of the group training. You can have the benefit of having a trainer without having to pay full price. -
Review from Gabby R.
Pinole, CA
Since it's difficult to find information online about their membership rates, I figured I'd post a review. For a gym that opened in the last quarter of 2010, I find their rates to be way too high. I went in for a tour today and even though the facility appears to be quite nice, the person doing my tour and intake didn't sell me on signing up.
I was a member of the downtown Berkeley Y for over a decade, until it just became too much of a pain to travel 30 minutes + parking to work out. I guess I didn't realize what a good deal I had there. For $64/month I got free towel service, free parking, a locker to keep as my own, as well as fitness area for only women. Imagine my surprise when this NEW gym (hint hint more sign up specials), wanted $69 to just work out there. No towel service, an at use locker and a much smaller facility without a pool. The sign up fee is over $200, and the only other deal they offered was if I signed a contract. Then things went down to $49/month. I still would have a sign up fee, and frankly I think that's a lot to ask for when you have recently opened. The only negotiation was to drop the sign up fee SLIGHTLY, and add another member so both were paying $64/month. These just don't seem like deals that a new gym would be offering. I got my hopes up when I read that $40/month was an option via reviews on here, but I guess I missed that boat.
All I want are cardio machines and some leg machines. I don't need all of the silly classes for people who want to ride a bike in place for an hour or throw kicks at the air. I guess I will continue my search for a reasonably priced gym that doesn't take me 30 minutes to commute to... -
Albany, CA
Kara and Jasmin did open the new gym in October. It is a block from the Albany Bowl and I have had no issues with parking.
The space is large and the layout well done. One one side are plenty of cardio machines with TVs in front, weight machines in the same general area and set up to complete some easy circuits. Bathroom/Changing area is very clean.
The other side has free weights, boxing area, spinning machines, and a section to stretch that includes some rope-like devices attached to the wall to perform full-body-weight exercises.
You can see how new the equipment is.
Staff is very friendly and set the tone for a pleasant workout environment.
If you live in the area you definitely should give the place a try. I am sure they will let you try out the place and their prices are fantastic as they build their membership. -
"A Neighborhood Gym"... so after trying out every gym from Oakland to Pinole (too far, too dirty, too crowded, etc) I thought I would give this a try. I knew from the moment I walked in that All In One Fitness would be different. The place is clean - really clean! The equipment is new and everything is available. The usual cardio and weight equipment plus spinning, TRX, and boxing! Why not give it a try?
I have found that location is very important - close to home means I can go to the gym whenever it fits in my schedule. No traffic, no stress. The staff is first rate - their attitude is fitness for real life. The owners, Kara and Jasmine, have created a place for us to work harder, feel better, and be successful in our quest for fitness..
Like most people, I have my own health issues to deal with. Two knee replacements and the usual wear and tear of old-style fitness enthusiasts means I need to keep exercising and do it right. I have found that the variety of classes makes exercise more fun. The class size (very small) means that the instructor knows me, and makes sure I do it right. I have tried spinning, boxing (great fun!!), TRX, and all of the machines. Everything is squeaky clean and the maintenance is excellent.
Albany is a great location. The gym is filled with our neighbors - real people with real fitness needs. Whether they are training for a marathon, recovering from an injury or losing a few pounds, all are carefully guided, friendly, and comfortable. I have met neighbors from 15 to 93, all seeking better health and fitness.
However you define "better health and fitness", you should try it here! And oh yes.. there are even showers and parking! -
Finally -- a local gym that actually has a shower! Add to that some great classes, and instructors who are both personable and knowledgeable, and you've got a gym worth going to. I recommend this place to anyone who is looking for the combination of state-of-the art equipment along with a neighborhood feel.
So far so good.
I have been working out here for about 10 weeks. I should be eating better and working out more, but being that this is all I do twice a week... the results have been great. I am doing things in training that I never thought possible.
The environment is small and personable. Everyone is very supportive and there is usually only one other trainer and their client at a time.
I usually work out with Jessica who is very knowledgeable. She gives me a challenge every time and keeps the workouts fresh.
I have also worked out with Jasmin one of the Owners. I have to say I was really intimidated at first. Although she worked me out hard, she did things that were different then Jessica but not beyond my level of fitness.
These ladies know there stuff. I will update this review as my own personal story evolves.
It is a huge financial investment on my part but it is worth it. I am SO strong now and I am worth it. Every cent. -
I have been training with All In One Fitness for over three and a half years. I started with a short-term goal--getting ready to do a rim-to-rim hike in the Grand Canyon. However, once the hike was over, I found that I was enjoying training so much I didn't want to stop. I was reasonably fit before starting there, as I had worked out on my own for several years, but training at All In One took me to a whole new fitness level. There are things I can do with a trainer that I simply cannot do safely or as effectively at home. We started doing more weight-training, and, to my pleasant surprise, the additional 5+ pounds that had appeared on my body when I turned 40, and that no amount of cardio seemed to remove, suddenly melted away.
Kara always keeps my workouts fun and challenging. She's even taken me out on the basketball court a few times! As another poster said, the personal attention is what makes the difference. Over the years, I've seen other clients who were training with All In One. They have ranged in age from teens to septuagenarians, and run the gamut of all health and fitness levels. The trainers are always mindful of the individual needs of their clients, and clearly work hard to provide them with safe, effective workouts designed just for them. It's been fun to see the progress other clients have made, and everyone there is very encouraging and supportive.
I love All In One Fitness. At nearly 50 years old, I am in the best shape of my life! -
El Cerrito, CA
Unfortunately, I will be moving away from All In One Fitness, but I wanted to give a shout-out/update for this amazing neighborhood gym. I've been a member for about six months now, and I must say I am really going to miss this place, especially the great people. I have attended all the classes pretty regularly, and it's always a great workout. I come home feeling worked out, but not depleted, and always looking forward to the next class. Jasmine and Kara (the gym's owners, trainers, and teachers) push you hard, but are always friendly and informative. The gym is relatively small compared to the big name gyms, but the smaller facilitates also provide a more personal and casual environment. The only drawback I see is the occasional shortage of parking...BUT if you're heading to the gym a short 5 minute walk is the perfect warm up. So if you're looking for a gym to really put in some time to get fit and healthy, this is THE place!
All In One Fitness rocks. This is a small space but it's full of personal attention. Needing to lose a lot of weight and seemingly unable to get myself to workout regularly, I finally decided to shell out for a personal trainer. Eight months later, I'm still going twice a week and it's worth every penny. This is a comfortable place full of clients of all sizes. No need to feel self-conscious because you're not an uber-fit size 2. They're not judgmental, either. Even though I've never quite gotten my diet in line and have decided to focus more on my fitness, I never feel judged for not adhering to program perfectly. I've learned tons about working out properly (now I know why I was never getting results before, I was doing everything wrong!) and this is the longest that I've worked out on a regular basis, ever. I feel like I'm finally moving slowly, but surely, down the right path to fitness, and that's a BIG accomplishment for me. Dare I say it, it's actually often fun to go there! Best of all, a nagging shoulder injury that I've had for almost four years that barely improved even after months of physical therapy is finally improving. If I get nothing else out of this than that, it was worth it.
Give this place a try. You won't regret it. -
Kara and Jasmin are opening an All in One Fitness Gym on San Pablo near Solano. It is going to be great! I joined with the pre-opening special and am so excited to have a REAL gym in Albany!! I'm an Albany Y member and ready for a change... and if the atmosphere and quality is anything like their personal training studio, it's going to be awesome (and really a good value- I think they still have pre-opening memberships at under $40 a month! I pay $47 for the crappy Albany Y!)
Albany, CA
A little over 2 years ago, I went looking for a gym for my 87 year old father. Dad had worked out the decade of his 60's but had quit over 20 years ago to help me raise my daughter. At All In One Fitness dad found an exceptional trainer in co-owner, Kara Collier. Kara strengthened his body, improved his balance and fed his soul. The All in One Fitness staff became a second family. Six months after my dad began training, I was diagnosed with severe osteoporosis in my spine. I refused to take the toxic medications recommended by my doctor. Kara became my trainer. I lost 12 pounds that I had gained over the past thirty or so years and have kept them off; I am within 3 or 4 lbs. of my high school weight. I learned to eat differently and exercise productively while doing weight bearing exercises to improve bone density. A nagging back pain which had developed over several years is completely gone. I too found a family in Kara and Jasmine and the kind, supportive, inspirational staff of All in One Fitness. They have comforted me and shared in my grief at the loss of my beautiful father last month. Clients who had met my dad and worked out along side of him wrote beautiful tributes. If you're looking for personal weight training, balance and fitness training, and advice on healthy eating, from caring trainers who live what they preach and inspire by words and example, All in One Fitness is the place for you.
