    It's rare to find a company that is family owned AND highly-professional.  Usually you have to compromise on quality, pricing or the company's technical support/infrastructure because they usually don't have the same resources (staffing and technology) that the large companies do.  However, All-Guard seems to have pricing comparable (except for the "free" systems, but I don't really trust anything that's for "free") to the others...their quality is SUPERB...the technology is the latest and greatest (I researched online before I bought)...and they've always been super responsive whenever I've needed anything.  

    When I call, I get an IMMEDIATE answer...none of that push 1 for this, 2 for that.  And it's a REAL person who is right in Hayward...not some outsourced service in India, like you get with pretty much any service company you call nowadays.  They've always been able to answer my questions quickly and satisfactorily.  When I've needed to revise my emergency list or to remind me how to remove pass-codes, they've been quick to assist.

    I used All-Guard the first time at my condo back in 2002.  My sales rep had been with the company for 20 years, and the installer had been with them for 5 years.  Then in 2005, I moved and had another system installed.  My rep was the same guy I had before!  The installer was different, but he had also been with the company for over 10 years!

    That says to me, the company takes good care of their employees and these people love what they do.

    If a company cares about their employees and their customers, then that's the company for me!  I'm willing to pay a premium if it means I can trust I'll be taken care of long after the initial sale.

    After about 15 years of paying for monitoring, purchasing equipment and labor I cancelled my service when we eliminated our land line and went 100% cellular.

    You would have thought I was seeking a hostile divorce. I had to keep saying no while Ashley told me horror stories of why I needed to change my mind.

    Finally after cutting the cord with All Guard I thought I was done, this was in December of 2011. Now it's February of 2012 and I get a bill for two months monitoring that was marked past due. A past due bill when I never got a first bill and to top it off a bill for something I no longer used.

    When I phoned I was informed that they had a 60 day cancellation policy and I owed them for two months. I paid the bill rather than raise my blood pressure and decided I'd use Yelp to vent - I'm done venting, thanks for listening.

    I have been a long-time All Guard customer (over 14 years) on two houses.  I read all the comments and here has been my experience:

    Technicians
    I give them a five star.  Every home visit has been great and the technicians have been friendly, on-time and quickly fixed the problem.  All Guard does charge by the hour but I have always felt they fixed problems quickly.  

    Customer Service
    I give them a five star.  When I call the billing or sales office, I have always been greeted by friendly staff that is very helpful.

    Notifications of System not Working
    I read a comment that the customer is responsible to know when the system is not working.  This is accurate and not an issue.  When a battery is low or a monitor is not working correctly, it will state it so on the alarm panel.  If you set your alarm panel daily (or at least walk by it), you will see a message that something is not working correctly.  For me, this is not an issue.

    Long-Time Customer Breaks with Problems
    I will agree with many comments that All Guard needs to improve on giving breaks to long time customers.  For the first time since I have been a customer, All Guard gave me a break when a window receiver did not work and I paid to have it replaced a year and a half ago.  I did call them to ask that they replace it for free since it was the same receiver with the same problem.  In this case, they did but I know it is not the norm.  For being a customer for so long, I expect that kind of service more frequently considering I generally will have a problem maybe once every two years (ignoring battery replacement which is easy and I do on my own).  

    I have not shopped around for pricing compared to other alarm companies so I don't know on this one.

    All is really great until you want to cancel monitoring service. I had paid ahead of time but since I cancelled I received a 10 day payment demand letter in the mail.  The reason given was they don't want to be chasing around dead beat accounts when they cancel. I would think deab beats just don't pay!  I'm looking at alternatives which have some human side to them.

    All Guard is the most professional service oriented company I have had the pleasure to work with. We received multiple quotes and our sales representative David Meacham explained in great detail the work to be done and all related costs so we could make an informed decision.

    They were on time and very professional and courteous when installing the system. We have also called customer service multiple times due to false alarms and they are also quick and very helpful.

    In addition, David Meacham has contacted us to follow up on the service we received and helped us resolve potential issues as they arise.

    I cannot give a higher reccomendation for them!

    Called today for sales information on a new security system at my new home...thought I'd check prices against ADT.  The lady in sales acted as if she didn't want to sale ANYTHING.  I had to pry information out of her what they offered, what the prices were.  She was more concerned about telling me that I had to sign a three year contract and they would run a credit check.  I told her thank you for your time and she could keep her system cause I feel more like security with all of my questions.  ADT...here come!

    Sales (North Bay office): Excellent with good follow-up, follow-through and clear, concise explanations.  No pressure or "scare" tactics; just good knowledge shown and good solutions proposed.
    Installation (North Bay office): Excellent all around.  Knowledgeable, thorough, clean install at work site with good communication skills throughout the process.
    Monitoring Service (Hayward office): unknown (and the only reason review is not a full 5 stars) but, hopefully, will be as good as the Sales and Installation process (and will update this review if the Monitoring Service ever needs to actually be used).

    Yes; after obtaining quotes from 3 alarm companies, would recommend All-Guard.

    Regarding critical Yelp reviews of this and other alarm companies: almost all of them (negative reviews) concern the monitoring service contract, and, it appears, the buyer's possible unfamiliarity with the contract signed.  

    Yes; the monitoring contract is for 3 years (which seems to be the current industry norm).  Yes; there are penalties for "early withdrawal."  Yes; moving away from the installed alarm system does not settle or remove a buyer's 3-year contractual obligations. Yes; the contract is "evergreen" and auto-renews (another industry norm, it appears) and requires 30-day advance notice of non-renewal.  

    Two VERY strong suggestions for this or any other alarm company purchase: 1. Read and understand the contract (both the purchase and the monitoring service contracts); a signed contract is a legal obligation that BOTH parties must fulfill under the conditions stated.  The buyer has responsibilities under the terms on the contract; know what they are and follow them.  If there are concerns, state them before signing the contract and attempt to negotiate a change, if possible.  ALWAYS note any mutually agreed-upon change in the body of the signed contract;  2. Even though an installer should review the system's proper operation before leaving the install-site, the new owner should still read and understand the Owner's Manual for the system purchased.  Suggestion: read the manual once when the system is brand new; then read it again a few weeks later after all users have been operating the system for awhile.

    Following the above two steps should go a very long way towards avoiding problems and misunderstandings.

    Earlier this year we had my office set up with a system from All Guard. Randy Hankins was the sales rep who worked with us to figure out what we needed, and only what we needed. We weren't oversold and are now feeling safer than ever. I love the key fob that gives me a panic button if I am walking to my car late by myself. I am a totally happy customer and luckily haven't had any reason yet to rate their response time if something were to happen!

    Too eager to sell you their services,  but when it comes to monitoring whether the system is functional or not, their reps told me that it's the customer's responsibility to notify them (Huh..).    Poor customer service and very poor follow through post-sales.

    As a new home owner a security system was on the top of my priority list. I decided to shop around and called a couple national companies, another local company (I do not want to mention names as I was unhappy with all 3 appointments) and All-Guard which my friend told my about. I was surprised when a real human answered my call and was able to schedule an appointment at a time that was convenient for me. My sales rep was very knowledgeable and built an alarm system to meet my needs. He even gave me extra safety tips to keep my kids and me safe. The rep showed up on the day of the appointment and called me the next day to make sure I was happy and new how to use the system (the installer did a great job too). I've had the system in for a couple months now and couldn't be happier. I would recommend All-Guard to anyone I meet.

    All-Guard is an excellent company, that offers many services such as burglar alarms, television monitoring systems, and fire alarm systems.  They are one of the few business' around that remains family owned.  Their dedication to customer service cannot be beat.  Their is always a LIVE PERSON available to answer the phones, day or night.  The safety of your home and business is important, and its a relief to find a company that is willing to go the extra mile to be reliable at insuring the security and comfort of their clients.

    I had an attempted break-in in the middle of the day when I was at home watching tv and the dispatcher called me to notify me within seconds of the alarm going off! I didn't see the burglar because the alarm immediately scared him off and did its job and thank GOD I had All-Guard or I would have been hurt probably because there was no time to call 911 and I didn't even hear the burglar trying to get in my FRONT door!  All-Guard is a wonderful company! I want to recommend them to everyone because tother than exceptional response time, they also do not use an annoying automatic phone system so I can get to who I need to speak with immediately, tihey are courteous and professional, they are reasonable and personable and I have never had any issues with them or my service. And in today's world everyone subcontracts or outsources but All-Guard installs systems, fixes them, and does the monitoring. I am  soooo happy to be an All-Guard customer. I would never deal with  an impersonal company like ADT or some random scam company that knocks on doors!
