Amazing place. Amazing selection of parts. Amazing they're still open in this internet age.
One day they'll close and I'll cry for a year. -

As other reviewers have stated, a great place to find those one off parts you need for a project. Somewhat odd and interesting selection of items. Good place to source parts for your next robotic creation. Prices have gone up at this place (like everywhere I guess) but still can find good deals on motors, LCD displays. They have surplus stock items that you can take apart and use components. How about a flashing CALL POLICE sign :-) Or an LED License plate with a "FLAME FRAME" or a USED Personal Massager :-)
If you tinker with electronics chances are you already know about this place. If not and are looking for that odd part this place is always worth checking out. -

A great selection of new and NOS (new old stock) electronic, electric and mechanical parts and supplies for hobbyists and those involved in the electronics fields. Much of the parts are small quantity unused surplus from manufacturers, so the stock changes with new items added on a regular basis making an occasional visit to the store or website useful. The store often has odd stuff that is too low quantity to put in the catalog, another reason to visit the store once in awhile.
While the big mail order places like DigiKey or Mouser may have a bigger selection of components, this store is quite complete, and is where I find most of my parts for projects and repairs at work and at home. Radio Shack stores never had such a wide selection even back when they were almost a real electronics store. One note however, is their cut and spool wire prices are sometimes a bit high depending on what kind of cable it is.
If you need something special you may need to resort to mail order, but having a walk in store within driving distance (in addition to Fry's) and open on weekends has saved me many times, and there are not too many electronic parts retailers open in the Los Angeles area anymore.
If you go to their Van Nuys store in person, don't miss their small electronic museum of sorts. Just look at the top shelves that go around the back half of the store. If you're old enough, you may know or have used some of those items. Unfortunately, those special items are not for sale. -

This is the real deal. They know their stuff and have everything. And they actually try to save you money.

It could be a long, strange trip to patronize this new-and-surplus electronics store instead of the neighborhood Radio Shack.
But after going to Radio Shack for the umpteenth time, or even to Fry's, and they don't have that part, you put together a package of things to do around Van Nuys and you make sure to give yourself about an hour to tour this wonderland. That is, if you use electronics parts in your work or hobbies. WHAT--you don't use hemostats in your everyday activities? No plastic syringes? You must not be very cool.
For the so-called nerds, there's a remarkably wide supply of ICs, transistors, resistors, capacitors, diodes, bridge rectifiers, LEDs, switches, wire, connectors, fuses, motors, fans, tools, hardware, batteries, speakers, audio hookup parts and hobby kits. But I could go on and on. Just order their catalog for a preview.
If you've ever changed a watch battery, you probably paid more than $3 for it. It's 75 cents here. That battery-operated clock you have on the wall doesn't run, even with a new battery? You can buy a replacement mechanism for around $5. Did that switch on your coffee maker stop working? You'll find a replacement that fits perfectly for a buck. I wish they sold replacement glass coffee carafes--those don't lend themselves to mending.
You don't do any of this stuff yourself? You must be some kind of spendthrift elitist.
Okay, I get it. Anybody twisted enough to still be reading this uses electronics parts frequently. The rest of you would drive by this building and consider it just another architectural blotch on Oxnard Street.
All I can say is that over the years, this place has made accumulating vital parts for my business and minor household repairs a welcome relief to my budget.Listed in: Fool's Gold: Friscoco's…

Cheap used and new surplus electronics, from components and connectors to lasers, motors and gadgets of the past.
Every once in a while they get some no-longer available products that are a fraction of their retail price. -
Review from Grant P.

This is one of a dying breed. They get odd lots for sale and have a good range of solid supply parts. This is one of those stores where you come out with something you didn't expect. There are odds and ends all over the joint. The staff are friendly and helpful.
Check the website and give a call if you really desperately need that 74xyz, but if you are flexible and have some time, spend an hour or so poking around. -

a hidden gem! not only well-stocked, but well-staffed.
I went in looking for assistance on a project, and left with all my supplies and an illustration of how to put them together properly.
This is a true independent, and a true resource. I will DEFINITELY be back when I come up with my next hair-brained scheme. -

An electronic geek's thrift store! Surplus stuff at ridiculously low prices. Need to replace a wall wart power supply for your beard trimmer or your girlfriend's rechargeable hypersonic voodoo dildo? Instead of paying $19.95 at Radio Shack, you can get one here for about $3. Cables, connectors, components, hardware, tools, oddball nerdy knick-knacks. A funky little store, well worth a stop.

You could take over the world with a basket full of parts from this place. Or do 20 - life, for wire fraud. Take your pick.

There aren't many places left in Los Angeles you can go to 7 days a week to pick up electronic components. All Electronics offers a really big selection of used, surplus and new parts at reasonable prices. You can check out their website to get an idea of what they sell - http://allelectronics.com .
Give them a call before driving over on the weekend to make sure they are still open Sat and Sun. 10/17/08 -

i highly recommend this place for artists, tinkerers & geeks or artists who are geeks or geeks who are artists. you get my drift. like the other reviewers mentioned, if you're looking for electronic components and parts--leds, resistors, switches, sensors, speakers in various sizes, shrink wrap tubing, wire, etc---for an art project or to build an automatic cat feeder, this place has it for cheap. radio shack doesn't even compare to how hardcore this place is. you can also order online if you can't get to the store. shipping is fast too, if you're in california. they are conveniently open on sats, if you need something quick and can't find it at radio shack.

Van Nuys, CA
This place is so hard core that I actually felt intimidated in there, haha. I was clearly the only "consumer-level" customer (read: girl) in there, and it seemed to annoy the guy who was helping me. However, I found exactly what I wanted for not only amazingly low prices, but also with much less packaging than there would be at Best Buy or whatever, which was awesome for my green streak.
