Joe and his staff are extremely friendly.
I was introduced to this location a while back by my boss, and loved it.  I now bring new people there whenever I can to support Joe's deli.  This place is where the Quizno's used to be, tucked in the northeast corner by Boll Weevil.  Amazing food and decent prices.
All American sandwich and the Philly are amazing!

4 1/2 stars?????? I find that very hard to believe. I was taken here by my son for my birthday lunch, and I cannot understand how this place survives, much less got that many rave reviews.

I ordered a meatball sandwich, seemingly a secure choice in a pizza joint. First sign of disaster, the girl making the sandwich (very friendly) put the meatballs in a microwave to heat them up, then proceeded to cut them in half. She had already placed provolone (not mozzarella) cheese slices on some kind of roll(not italian bread). She then puit the meatball halves on the bread, ladeled sauce(more on this in a minute) over the entire thing, and ran it under a salamander type broiling unit.

The sauce had to be the worst I have ever tasted, and I have eaten Italian food all over the country. It tasted like plain tomato sauce with some oregano (and maybe some bulk "Italian Seasoning") mixed in.

It reminded me of the ending of "Goodfellas", where Ray Liotta is describing the spaghetti he ordered while in the Witness Protection Program as Egg Noodles & Ketchup.  The meatballs themselves were terrible, bland and had the consistency of 80% bread and 20% meat, if I was lucky.

The resulting sandwich was a dripping, soggy mess that took an effort on my part to finish. I have eaten better sandwiches from a prison vending machine

.If you are a pizza place, how hard is it to, at the very least, bake a sandwich in a pizza oven, never mind make your own meatballs(not that difficult or less cost intensive) or sauce(again, neither difficult or costly).

As for my son's roast beef on rye, for the price he paid($5.99), there should have been twice as much meat and not such poor quality. Ever heard of Carando's, or Boar's Head?

All in all, our first visit will be my last. If the proprieter, or anyone else, is interested in experiencing a real meatball sandwich, go down to Mona Lisa in Little Italy.

I come here for lunch sometimes and I must say the only thing good is the pizza. My co-workers reccomended the sandwiches but after trying the philly cheese steak, I must say I am no longer interested in trying any of they're sandwiches. Which sucks because the bread was good however the sandwich as a whole was bland and dry. I also tried The chicken cesar salad and it was also disappointing. It was a huge portion of shredded iceberg lettuce n chicken pieces that were ungrilled.. not appetizing. I gave 3 stars because the pizza is delicious and the service is great. The staff are very friendly. Hopefully they will make the food better.

I like a lot of folks LOVE to eat, but one word really gets me fired up: DELI!!! Joe and his crew treat you right but of course the sammies are the thing here and they ROCK!!! Pastrami and corned beef are the stars here and the proof is my belly's poochin' out every time I go here LOL!!! Those times when I'm too busy or just plain lazy I use eat 24 hours and order online to make things painless. DeeeeeeLISH!!!

I rarely review anymore, so the fact that I am writing this now should say a lot about All American.

We were on our way home from a long day of Comic Con, and I had a craving for a sandwich. We checked out Yelp and All American was the place that stood out.

We walked in and were greeted right away by Joe. Since we decided to get a few more sandwiches for Comic Con the next day, Joe was more than happy to help us out. He offered great suggestions when asked, and it seemed he truly cared for the sandwich he was making for you. The prices were great for the amount of ingredients in each sandwich. Generous is a good way to describe it.

Okay, enough rambling. On to the food. I had one pastrami and one corn beef. Both equally delicious! The corned beef I ate that night was the perfect sandwich to satisfy my craving. The pastrami the next day was the perfect sandwich to let me forget I was spending my day wading though the mass of people that is 'Con.

    Yes folks, that good.

Next time you're craving for a sandwich, head over to south side and visit All American. Joe will take care of you.

Either most of the people writing reviews about this place are wrong, or I just ordered the wrong thing.

Service was very friendly.  Fountain soda machine was broken.

I ordered the BBQ beef sandwich.  I could have stayed home, pulled two slices of white bread from a bag, topped it with sliced roast beef from the deli at Vons, squeezed some purchased BBQ sauce from a bottle and tossed the whole thing into a toaster oven.

OK, so I don't have a toaster oven, but you get it... The BBQ sauce was cloyingly sweet.  The last third of the sandwich went into the trash on my way out the door.

The other pictures here look promising, but I wasn't won over by this sandwich.

This is my second review on this place. My first one I wrote that this place is ten times better than Subways. GIVE IT A TRY!!!!
For whatever reason Yelp decided to put it on the filtered section. I do not know any of the employees here. I just really like their sandwiches. They have 18 reviews that you can look at and 10 that are filtered. All the filtered review are five stars. Why don't you do this place justice and unfilter all the reviews? The food here ROCKS!!!!

An overall good sandwich shop in the deep south of San Diego.

I was passing by the Southland Plaza Shopping Center on a routine business trip (work) when I happen to see this sandwich shop in the same building as the Wells Fargo...just around the other side (it's well hidden, around the back and the only way you can notice it is if you were near the Boll Weevils parking lot.)

This place has it's plus' and minus' (the minus is it being around the corner...well hidden - but I think I already said that)

On the plus side, the staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable when it comes to what's inside the sandwich they are gonna make for you. The sandwiches aren't automatic so you basically have to let them know what it is that you want inside of it.

Everything tasted very fresh (It had better tasted fresh cause I ordered a Veggie Sandwich) and the service was pretty quick considering that there was 3 people in front of my order.

I'd come here again considering it's a very good sandwich shop that's not too far from where I work at.

I don't know of any decent delis around my neighborhood, so I thought I'd give this place a try after reading some reviews.

Yes, the sandwiches are huge. Good portion for $7-8. I got the California sandwich on a french roll. It tasted okay.. yes, the turkey was freshly sliced, but my avocado had bits that were already brown. :( It does not look pretty, so that alone kind of ruined it for me. Honestly, I could have made this sandwich myself. (that's just how I think when I go out to spend my money on food.) But it is a good lunch spot for the businesses around there.

I would return here if I had a major craving for a sandwich and was too lazy to make one myself. I'd try one of their hot sandwiches next.

Solid spot! I have seen this place a few times and always been unsure whether or not to even go in, but now I'm sorry I didn't. This place used to be a quiznos and they still have a lot of the quiznos stuff (including the funny shaped trays) - but that's perfect for Palm City!

Only my first visit so I ordered something safe-The Californian - turkey, bacon, avocado with sprouts. Tasty sandwich! Guy behind me got the gyro and if I wasn't a non-red meat eater, I would have swiped it from him. It looked awesome.

The staff was super friendly and had a lot of good input and were very attentive to all the customers in the place.

They make pizza too, so I might have to check that out sometime soon.I'll let you know...

    Best lunch in IB.

Overstuffed sammies bursting with super fresh meats, cheeses, and veggies.  Your choice of bread, an you can have the sandwich toasted as well.

Staff is super friendly, too. They always seem genuinely happy you came in for a bite.

I cannot rave enough about this place!  I am lucky enough to work in the same strip mall and stop by here whenever I can.  All the ingredients are super fresh and believe me they do not skimp either. I truly mean this.   YOU NEED TO GO THERE NOW.
The calzones are fantastic too. Again huge in size, and they give you some good dipping sauce if you like it that way ( I do)
I dont give great reviews lightly and only if a business deserves it.
Believe me this one does.  I am ashamed to say that my daughter works
@Subway but I still only buy my sandwiches from here.
Thanks guys for opening such a great little shop in our community.

Finally a better sandwich option in the South Bay!

Options galore when it comes to sandwiches and they also offer pizza, calzones and soups of the day.  They make their sandwiches fresh so if you want a philly cheese steak prepare to wait 10 minutes or so because they're not only gonna grill the steak for you but also the the onions, peppers and mushrooms.

Haven't tried the pizza but the calzones are huge and can practically feed a family!

Great food, friendly staff, clean establishment...I know where to go now to get my sandwich fix!

this place is pretty good for a mom and pop place, not only do they serve sandwichs but pizza! best of both worlds i'd say (:

I went here with some friends we got a sandwich and pizza, so we got to try both.

When we ordered our pizza they waited about 10 minutes into the pizza cooking to start making our sandwiches which is good!  The portion for the sandwich was pretty good. I almost couldnt finish both!!

When the pizza finally came out, it was GOOD!  you know when pizza is good when the cheese pulls against you when you're eating it(or that may just be me).

For a sandwich and pizza place close to the border...not bad.

This place is good sandwich place. I had the Hot BBQ Roast Beef sandwich and it was delicious. It's a bit like Subway in that they give you many bread and veggie choices for the sandwiches. The staff is very friendly the portions are fairly big. My only complaint is that I got my sandwich to go and while the bread was warm and toasted and the cheese was melted, only the top half of the pile of roast beef was warm. The bottom half of the meat was still cold from being in the refrigerator. I think if I had stayed and eaten in the place they probably would've fixed it for me, but since I'd already driven home, I didn't feel like driving back. It was good overall and I really liked the bbq sauce, but when I order a sandwich with "hot" in the name, I expect the whole thing to be warm. Overall, a three star sandwich place.

Went here for lunch with the kid, so he wanted pizza and I ordered wings because you can't have pizza without wings. We ordered the works, it had lots of meat and cheese and just enough veggies so you can say you had something green. The wings I wasn't too impressed with, they had good flavor but they were soggy and drenched in too much sauce.

You are not going to find many places that offer the sandwiches that Joe offers at All American.  It is unfortunate that it is tucked all the way in the back of the plaza because many people are not aware of this delicious sandwich shop.  Their All American sandwich is ginormous.  Big enough to share with someone or try to eat it yourself if you are really hungry.  If I am in the mood for a great tasting sandwich at a great value (prices are comparable to Subway but five times the quality), then I go to All American.

The sandwiches are awesome.  The ingredients are fresh and they pile it up so you're not just tasting bread.  The manager is cool, personable, and makes you feel welcome every time.  I would pick this place over any of those franchise sandwich shops (ie. Subway, etc...) any day.  Try this place out.  It'll be worth it!

Ok, the sandwiches are huge, only freshly sliced meat is used, I was there, ordered, the owner went to the slicer, started slicing the meat, I wanted avocado, it was not out of a bowl that was sitting around, it was an avocado... he sliced it and placed the fresh avocado on the bun, then adding all of the veggies that I wanted with everything the way I wanted it, I do feel sorry for the nearby owner of the subway store, they have to be dying as a result of this new sandwich shop....

I ate there once and have been back every week since...

    Try it!!

Went here today and was happily surprised! Didn't expect the portions to be so enormous, the ingredients to be so tasty, or the staff to be so pleasant, but they were! The sandwiches can be toasted, and they had a vast array of veggie/topping options. Additionally, they offer a 10% discount for "center employees" so for those who work anywhere within the Southland Plaza, you get a discount, AND they have a military discount too! The people that work there are very cool, no weirdness or attitude at all. As far as establishment goes, the eatery is clean and spacious as were the bathrooms, bonus! I'm a pretty picky gal, and this place was working it for me-- I'm definitely going back. :)

It's just as big as a 14' pizza and they hook you up. The manager is always working making sure you are taken care of. Overall this place is great and thank god there's a sandwich spot in South San Diego.

I've been looking for a good sandwich place for several years and I have to rank this as one of the top three. People have sent me to other places around town and I've been very disappointed. This place does not disappoint. The sandwich is called the "ALL AMERICAN" and I had them make it the way they thought was best. The visual and taste of this  sandwich, for lack of a better word is... PLETHORA! You can add what you want to this sandwich from a selection of ingredients a'la  subway stye but I always let the chef "cook" for me the first time out. Take the extra time and go to a great sandwich shop. I really don't think you'll be disappointed.
