I have a friend who has her Pomeranian groomed here, so I knew they did good work.  My little darling, Hollywood, is a Cavalier King Charles with lovely feathers on her legs and feet like large fuzzy slippers.  However, we are living in an enormous and filthy construction zone and I could not keep her clean.  It got to the point where I was shampooing her feet after every walk - and the rest of her didn't look great either.  So I took her to Lena, said "I still want her to look like a Cavvy," and hoped for the best.
Her feathers are gone, as are the slippers, but her ears are adorable (a little like Anna Wintour's haircut) and her tail is still magnificent. And, come on - it's fur; it will grow back.

Best of all, she is calm and happy. The spa is quiet and peaceful, with an easy atmosphere that I think rubs off on the dogs.  I will definitely take her back.

I have used both the boarding and the salon services. These guys are AMAZING! Cooper was treated like a little prince and came out looking so handsome. He boarded there for 10 days and seemed very well cared for and clearly liked the ladies Erin and Lena!

Hands down the best haircut my dog has ever received. I've had problems in the past with groomers providing uneven cuts and clipping nails too close. The groomers here listened to what I wanted and my very shy dog was smiling when I picked him up. The staff was also friendly and took the time to talk with me about my dog's needs on his first visit. We will be back.

Daisy and Julio just went here for the first time today and they LOVED it!!! They are so soft and clean, their nails are beautiful, and the staff was friendly, gentle, and caring. I had a great experience too--from the prompt and friendly return call reponding to my voicemail message, to them fitting Daisy and Julio in at the last minute, to the courteous front office staff, to the tender way they handled my pets to the VERY REASONABLE price at the end!!! The wonderful staff, the lovely facility, and the gentle music playing in the background all made the visit a HOWLING success!!!

My baby came out looking like a SUPERSTAR!!!!

    she smelled soooo good.

next time I will tell them not to cut off too much (her hair was a little shorter than I wanted, but she did look CUTE)

I dropped her sweater on the way out and the owner sent it to me :)
    (nice)

    I will bring her back!

They did a great job with my Bernese mtn dog. I was taking him to the City to our favorite place and after trying a few places in the East Bay decided that no one ws as good as our place in the City.

Finally, I found a great groomer in the East Bay! They have very good customer service, a clean shop, very reasonable prices, and they do a fantastic job at wash, brushing out and grooming.

Made appointment over the phone. I misunderstood (or the gal I was talking to didn't explain) drop off time. I arrived about 10 minutes late (apparently weekend hours are different than weekday hours) Okay I get it... but seriously what is 10 minutes going to do? She told me I would have to reschedule. This was fine by me. As soon as we walked in my dog started to shake in my arms and whimper. She then pushed her head into my neck and wouldn't look up or out. She is VERY outgoing and this behavior indicated to me she sensed something was not right. Even if they had honored the appointment I wouldn't have left her. So I guess it all worked out for the best in the end.

Of note: drove by the other day and this place seems to be closed as in "out of business".

I brought my Havanese dog to this groomer for the first time and my dog received the WORST haircut ever!  He looks ridiculous.  Sadly, the owner is the one who did his grooming.  She obviously knows nothing about my dog's breed or how he should look because she did it all wrong.  His beautiful long flowing tail & ears are now cut square, nothing like his breed should ever look.  His hair looks very unnatural and choppy.  I am very very unhappy and can't wait for his hair to grow.  So disappointing.

It has been over a years since we first took Mimi and Sammi (Japanese Chin and Yorkie, respectively) to Lena's All About the Dogue spa.  WIthin that year, her service has been consistent and impeccable, not one complaint, not one slip up, nothing.  She really is as good as it gets with dog grooming.

Another thing I appreciate about Lena is her tough love for the pups.  Sammi (yorkie) can be a hellion, actually he is one.  She taught us how to deal with him and train him to be more submissive, especially when he's at the groomers.  He's improved, but he's still a little $#!T.

For the first time ever, we feel comfortable taking our pups to an establishment knowing they will be very well cared for, disciplined, impeccably groomed, and in a ridiculously clean place.  I mean her Spa is extremely clean despite the millions of paws that run through her spa and we know those paws are infested with god knows what from street walking . . . and not just that, but all the hair that gets sheared, brushed, cut, pulled, whatever, you don't see a trace!!

If there's one splurge you give your loyal companion, it should be taking them to this Spa . . . you will not regret it.  Keep up the amazing work Lena and thank you for always making our dirty little scoundrels looking and smelling pretty!!

The one star is only for the greeting or lack of, that we received. Can't speak for anything else. My Husband and I went to Wally's for lunch, and parked in front of Dogue spa. We had the little princess with us, so decided to take her in and see how she felt about the place. The receptionist  behind the counter did not greet us... we were the only ones there.

I'm thinking.. how about talking to my dog. Greet her so that she loves you and wants to spent 100.00 to get her hair done. Give her a treat from that treat bowl. Come on get up.... Please.
I said we are here to find out a little about the spa. Receptionist said "here is a brochure". Then she said, "is that a doodle"? excitement came over me, I smile with glee, and said ..YES!  End of conversation.. I kid you not.
The princess decided she would rather have a bath at home.

My best friend for the last 8 years was an Australian Shepherd with one heck of a double coat & the tendency to shed constantly.
Being an over-protective mother, I was always hesitant to take my beloved dog to a groomer sight unseen.
When I arrived at Lena's suite, conveniently located in Emeryville, I was so pleased to see it was a one-woman operation, with the one-woman greeting me with a smile & a squeal for my dog.

Lena's place doubles as a cutey boutique with doggie tees, leashes & cookies displayed amongst photo albums of pictures of clients, her own show dogs & thank you cards. The place is clean, neat, quiet and best of all-- affordable. Lena almost does herself an injustice with her prices! She has a great sense of humor & an obvious adoration for dogs & what she does for a living.

Although not heavily advertised, Lena Swann's place is a hidden gem.
She knew my dog by name & fulfilled my personal trimming requests to a 'T'.  When I picked him up, my dog was happy to see me, but not dying to get out of the place. The other dogs I saw being dropped off & picked up were the same-- calm & relaxed about the experience.

I'm not sure why it takes an entire day to groom a little Griffon, but they did a great job. My little man walked out of there thinking he was the...cat's meow? Brimley strutted his stuff and seemed so excited and confident it made my heart burst with joy. It had been about 4 months since he had been groomed and was starting to resemble more of a bear than an ewok.

Lena was kind and patient, as Mr. Brimley can be skittish and not let you get  close if mama isn't around, but he seemed to manage well. They even handed him a little Easter egg treat on the way out. Parting gifts!

He smells great days later, his paws are trim, he looks like a long lean and mean (with a little mohawk) little guy. A stranger even stopped me on the street the other day to let me know that "THAT is a RAD dog."

    Mission accomplished.

Our sweet Miss P is a toy poodle who needs to see a groomer regularly.  She's a rescue doggie who has nerves about groomers.  I like the fact that Lena keeps her for the day and works on her gradually.  At pickup time, she is pretty and clean, and ready to sashay down the street with me.

Prices are reasonable, and the green curb out front means that there is usually parking right outside the door.  The atmosphere is calm and orderly, and I can tell that Lena truly loves dogs: her standard poodle is beautifully kept and beautifully behaved.  I've never had trouble getting an appointment, and I appreciate the fact that they are picky about vaccination records, etc.

I just wish I could find a similar place for humans!

In the neighborhood, talented stylist - Lena is a pro! - and a great value make this an outstanding choice for a professional doggie haircut.  I never thought of myself as a dog-who-needs-a-stylist kind of guy, but it's hot out and he doesn't need a thick coat, and our attempts at doggie styling at home, while they were fun, yielded . . . interesting results.  The little guy definitely enjoys the treatment, although he needs a bit of a drag to "coax" him into spending the day with a stranger, and has a spring in his step after it's all done.   And that alone is worth it . . .

    Highly recommended!

I have been using Lena Swann's Grooming services for about a year now. My two dogs can be difficult to groom, they don't like being "messed" with. But Lena hasn't told us to take a hike yet! She gives me a fantastic rate on two dogs ( which is only fair, and I really appreciate). The only problem is that I have occasionally found razor burn problems on one of my guys which I treated with over the counter medication. Overall- I  give her a positive rating, if only my dogs could tell us what they think!!

I tried "Kutz for Mutz" before, and while I think he does great with some people, I must have caught him on a bad day - in the meantime, Lena is so close, I can walk there!

Her rates are reasonable, she is excellent with my pup (a 6 pound Yorkshire Terrier) - he always comes out looking SO HANDSOME and without any "hot spots" and her place is clean and pleasant.  I love the store - she's got the cutest clothes and accessories!

I have referred 3 different people to Lena and all have been very very happy, so I am happy to refer you to her as well - I just hope she doesn't get TOO busy!!

This was a great experience! My dog is happy, calm, and looks fantastic. This is not an easy dog to groom: big and tall, almost 14, bad knee and hip so he can't sit, long fur, sensitive about having his paws fussed with *and* I asked for "poodle cut" on the paws (fur shaved very close) bc we have wooden floors (poor thing was slipping from the fur growing out the bottom of his toes).
Summary: Clean place, welcoming, friendly attendant Erin, great price, great grooming result, happy, calm dog at the end.

I brought my little Shiba Inu to Lena because I received a recommendation from one of the employees of the company that manages the building Lena houses her business in. I was told that the building was very pet friendly and that the live/work residents brought there pups and kitties there. I also read the reviews on Yelp so I decided to try this groomer out.

My double-coated doggy Ice has been shedding so much because he's blown out his fluff. The shedding from his undercoat has been making me nuts! I was plain tired of fuminator-ing and vacuuming every day.

Lena to the rescue! Ice's coat is all smooth and soft and I'm not grabbing fistfuls of Shiba fur when I run my fingers through this coat. His nails are all trimmed and pretty. His little booty is fresh. He smells like a bouquet of peonies, too. (Okay, maybe not peonies but he doesn't have that stale dog smell anymore.)

On top of all that, Ice can be shy and even skittish around new people but Lena and her team have that animal lovers' touch. Ice seemed content with the folks working there when I dropped him off and was a perky little bugger when picked him up.

    Thanks, Lena & crew!

I have taken my maltese, Boo,  to Lena for a couple of years.  Lena is very patient and Boo always comes home looking great!  Lena always remembers me & Boo and knows exactly what I want when I drop her off.  I am always very amazed to watch Lena and watch the control and respect the dogs have around her- it is pretty amazing!

I love Lena's new space and it is always so clean and professional.  The best part of All About the Dogue are the Pee-Wee Playdates Lena hosts once a month in the salon.  It is hilarious to watch the little dogs run around and play!

I am hesitant to refer people to her only because I dont want her to get too booked up!!!!  :)

We were desperate - the dog is big and smelly and we get invited to a cabin in Tahoe for the weekend!! The regular groomer is booked so I needed to find someone fast.   I called everywhere - and all about the dogue had an opening!!   thank heavens!!

I found a super friendly staff - a clean and well designed shop, and the dog was transformed into a  beautiful, good smelling, acceptable house guest!!
Couple days later we receive a nice postcard thanking us for using their services.  Truly a well run customer service group!

One tiny drawback - they ask you to call to get a pick up time - which I did - but the dog wasn't ready and I had to wait about 20 minutes for him.  They did apologize for the wait  - but I cannot give them a full 5 star rating - If I could I would give them 4 3/4 stars.

This place is great!    We will be back!

My mother begged me to help her with her new beagle/mini-schnauzer puppy who was terrorizing and using the bathroom everywhere in the house.  She wondered why her dog wasn't like mine... umm, duh mom, it's called training.   I agreed to take in her puppy for a few weeks of positive reinforcement and crate training and I'm proud to say that she is now a happy, obedient and housetrained pup! (just need to train my mom now, yay.)

And before I gave her back to my mom, I wanted to reward her with a trip to the groomer.  She had a few mats in her fur and had some major ghet-toes.

I let Lena Swann do her thing and the results were awesome!  The whole experience was kinda like that TV show The Swan where a butt- ugly lady starts off with missing teeth and a missing leg.  And after a few hours under the knife, she magically reappears as Angelina Jolie.    Lena summed it up perfectly... my mom's puppy brought sexy back.  Hay!

Not only does my sheltie come out looking like the king he thinks he is, but Lena is by far the friendliest and most welcoming dog groomer I've ever been to. She is incredibly talented, as well as her staff. Her work is worth every penny and the wait to get an appointment is evidence of her well earned popularity. She uses great products that don't irritate my sensitive sheltie's skin and he smells fresh for weeks longer than any other groomer he has seen.
Congratulations Lena on your new place on San Pablo, it's beautiful!!

I have an almost two year old mini golden doodle.  She has been groomed at a couple of other places, but this was her first time at All About the Dogue.  She was not at all matted.  I asked for a trim, but she was cut all the way back.  It will take months for her to look like herself again.

The salon was clean and the people friendly, but when my husband picked up our pup he said that she was "subdued."  Usually, when I pick her up she is happy and frisky and ready to roll.

I have been taking my little dog here for the past three months, "Frosty" Love it. They give him the right kind of treatment and he leaves feeling like a new dog. I still don't know what a blueberry facial is, but this place rocks and for everything that they do it looks great and he smells good too.

I have to have him trimmed short and the cut is great! If they would let me I would get my haircut and wash done here also. WOW! That would be cool!

Sooo my dog is picky.  It took me about 1-2 years to find Lena at All About the Dogue (we'd moved from Boston) and the way I found this groomer is that out of the 3+ grooming locales I'd tried in the easy bay, Lena's establishment was the only place where my dog wasn't trying to claw her way out the front door upon arrival; and instead wagged her tail and looked content/relaxed.  I haven't gone anywhere else since, nor will I.  Lena has over 15 years of grooming experience and it'll show on your pooch.  My dog always looks amazing when she's done.  (Plus Lena's super nice.)  Highly recommended.

I went to Lena Swann in hopes of getting my little maltese groomed beautifully.  Instead, he came out looking like a different dog completely!!  His long, beautiful white fur was completely shaved off and he looked like a little white chihuahua.  He's a skinny dog so no fur looked really wrong on him and you would think a professional could see that.  I could barely look at him and was relieved when it grew back months later.  I don't think I'll be back!

I don't know if it was the time of the year I've been here (right before Christmas) or what, but I was not very comfortable with leaving my dogs here. I know that they were really stressed out and they were very kind in taking me in last minute, but I did not like the way I saw them handling my dogs. I have two very small terriers, one of which I saw dragged across the floor when he wouldn't move ( he was recently adopted and was really scared). Furthermore, I don't understand having to leave your dog all day there. I was really bothered as well by the additional $20 (10 per dog) to take them outside to use the bathroom. If my dog has to be there super early in the morning, and stay there till past 5pm, then of course he is going to have to use the bathroom. I just really did not feel very comfortable there, and you could tell that most of the workers seemed pretty stressed out and consequentially seemed like they were being pretty rough with the dogs.

Next time I am going to call far in advance to make an appointment at Paws and Claws in Oakland. It is cheaper, they don't use cages, and I could pick my dogs up within a couple of hours.

Lena has been grooming my Labradoodle Moe for about a year now.  She does a fantastic job and Moe is always completely happy when he comes from seeing her (which tells me he's had a good experience!).  Lena is easy to communicate with - She'll give you her opinion about the best cut for your dog (based on breed standards, outdoor activity level, etc.) but also listens to and incorporates your preferences.  I would highly recommend Lena, as would Moe if only he could type!

I went to take my less than 2 lb yorkie to get groomed there last month. She cut her exacly like I asked, I had my dog back within just a few hours, and little Peanut looked gorgeous, as well as smelling good and seemed perfectly happy. She wasn't shaking as she does in stressful situations, and seemed completely at ease and comfortable. I have no qualms at all about taking her back to Lena again! After getting her groomed there, I found that at least 4 other people in my yorkie meetup group also get theirs cut there. All in all, Lena is a fantastic groomer who we will probably stick with for a while...

We adopted a Corgi mix from the shelter a month ago and took her to Lena for a bath. I dropped her off in the morning and picked her up late afternoon. It was like a day of doggy day care for her, and a break for the cats who secretly hoped she was not coming back. When I picked her up I was amazed at how good she looked--so clean and healthy! This was definitely not the same shaggy, old dog I left that morning. Our dog is ten and her day at the doggy salon mader her look younger, and her coat turned out shiny and soft. Nice job trimming the undercoat too, and very reasonably priced on top of everything else. But the best part was that I ended up with a happy dog who pranced all the way home.  I'll be taking her back once a month, no doubt.

I took my little fat boy here a few weeks ago.  Luckily another shih tzu called in & canceled that day so they were able to fit us in.  If not, I think the wait is actually pretty long.  I THINK.  Anyway, when I came back a few hours later to pick up my dog, the groomer was just finishing up.  Even though I could hear my boy at his rudest (barking & growling at her while she was trying to cut his beard), she was very professional & he came back looking like perfection.  The price was surprisingly decent, too.  I'm definitely taking him back.

A Virgo husband and a shedding dog does not a contented home make.  There's only so much dust-bustering (err, fur-bustering?) that can go on under one roof.  And my feeble attempts to wash, dry and de-fur my little guy weren't cutting it.  Enter Lena Swann.  Discovered her on Yelp and have been bringing my boy to her once a month for about 5 months now.  He comes back so soft and sweet-smelling, and with far less hair!  Lena is absolutely delightful.  My husband's back thanks you, as does our dust-buster's motor!

Lena rocks! Honestly, she does a wonderful job with our Cavelier King Charles...and remembers what kind of shampoo to use, etc. every time. She is incredibly professional and the new location looks like an actual spa! Our pup always smells so good afterwards and loos gorgeous!

The reviews were right on for this place.  I left a message and it was my Shih-Tzu lucky day because Lena had an opening and I was able to get her right in.  The service was excellent; I was able to drop Lucy off at 9am and get her back by 1pm.  The salon gave her the best hair cut, and she looked perfect when she came out.  I ran out of poo bags before I dropped her off, and my dispenser was refilled when I picked her up.  The price was $55; I paid that much a few years back in Seattle, so the DOGue Salon & Spa was very reasonable.  I will definitely schedule another appointment with Lena.

I am very pleased with Lena's work.  I recently moved here from Louisville, Ky and my miniature schnauzer requires regular grooming.  I took him to a nearby vet office, but was very disappointed in the cut.  Beamer looked like a million bucks leaving Lena's.

She even mentioned to me that maybe he's having joint problems.  She noted that as she worked on his legs he kind of pulled back a bit suggesting arthritis and maybe I should talk to my vet about starting him on glucosamine and chondroitin.

I've already made the next appointment.

I decided to take my 5lb Yorkie to a boutique dog salon and spa in the hopes they would take extra care to ensure my baby gets the cutest yet sleekest hair cut ever. I asked Lena if I gave them a photo of my dog that shows how I like his hair cut would they try to cut it the same (or at least as close as possible) and she said yes. I provided them with a very recent picture of how I wanted his hair cut and face groomed but when I pick him up he looked NOTHING like the picture I gave them. I asked "why?" They said he moved around too much that he wasn't used to grooming and recommended that I bring him more frequently. Which made NO sense to me cause if Pet Smart can groom him (the way we like) even though he wiggles why can't they? I didn't ask questions or even challenge their lame excuse. I simply left knowing that next time I'm going to Pet Smart. They charged my approx $75 for something I could have done myself.

I was very very hesitant about bringing our big fearful dog here. He does not take kindly to strangers and has a fearsome bark. We think he is part Tibetan Mastiff with Malamute or Husky. So our big guy has a lot of fur-double coated & soft.  Our doggie daycare recommended this place and I sent an email & I did have to call to follow-up.  Lena said to bring him in and we'd see how it went - if there were any problems I'd be a phone call away to pick him up. I am overprotective of our dog but they handled it (& me) all in stride. They gladly took my little note with what I wanted and not wanted with his grooming and they did take this into account. We called at the hour Lena told us to check-in and she gave us an accurate estimate of when to come pick him up.

I was so relieved to be greeted by a mellow dog who did not have any issues with them whatsoever. We had bought a muzzle just in case but they did not need it.  It helps that they spread out the bathing and grooming through the day so the dog isn't overwhelmed.  In our dog's case it took 2 and half hours to brush out (& here I thought I was doing a decent job) and 2 garbage bags full of fur.

And he looked freakin' gorgeous. His fur was incredibly soft and shiny. I could not keep my hands off him! I'm sure he was like "alright already!"
The trimming was great- not too much , not too little. This was the first time I'd ever taken him to a groomer and I'm glad I did. It was in July/August and I could tell he was much more comfortable & cooler.

We'll be taking him again next week. Since they now know how much time our dog takes they are making sure to schedule him on a lighter day. I can't afford to take him as often as I'd like but I think going a few times a year will make a huge difference in his comfort level. After all if it were up to him he'd be living in the snow.  Of course the grooming highlights his beauty. (ya roll your eyes!)

I found Lena and her staff to be personable and professional. The place has a serene feel to it even though there are a bunch of dogs there.

This time I will make sure to have the camera ready after his next grooming.
