I have been looking for a place to clean up the area between my eyebrows (even though I don't have a unibrow I like it clean) so a friend of mine recommended laser hair removal at All About Skin which happens to be close to me. She told me to ask for Janell. My friend spoke very highly of Janell as a person and her work too! Janell is a registered nurse and really knows what she is doing. She explained everything I needed to know to make sure the treatment would be a success.
The day finally came and I was soooo excited! We went over some more details and she prepared me for what was up ahead. I have read that laser hair removal can be painful but she assured me that she uses the best laser on the market and that it is less painful than the rest. I read a pamphlet out in the lobby and saw that it is an Alma laser.
There's a big white motorized recliner in the laser room which is very comfy and the color is welcoming. I just got onto it and felt sure that I was about to get the best attention to my needs ever! Once again Janell's warm soothing voice made all the difference. She explained what the laser zap would feel like and told me that first off she would do a test zap to make sure the comfort level was just right. Clearly her attention to detail is great. It's not one size fits all service you get here!
The test zap turned out to be slightly too intense so she adjusted the laser. All the time she makes sure everything is done properly. After the settings were just right she zapped the treated area several more times. I am not the best when it comes to taking pain but I can honestly say that laser hair removal is more bark than bite. It feels like a slight hot sting which is very, very momentary. It's incredibly quick too. At no moment did I want to walk out or anything. It's really no big deal.
When the zapping was finished Jannel gave me more indications on how to take care of the treated area. She cooled it down with ice for awhile and that felt really good. She didn't rush down the cooling process either. She made sure I left ready. The area did not get at all irritated and the weird feeling you get on the treated area does not last very long. In short I left very satisfied.
I was so satisfied with the attention and quality of it all that I made my next appointment for the next treatment. I also made an appointment for a facial and I will soon post the review on the facial.
Part of the success of any business is its appearance and I can say that All About Skin is a beautiful and relaxing place that makes you feel confident that you will receive top notch attention! The facilities are really nice - very modern and stylish. Nice yellow walls with white trim in the waiting area. The laser area is beautiful too! There's a large flatscreen TV where they might play movies while you wait. There's also lemon water and chamomille and earl grey tea which are all complimentary. Best of all you get to chat with Regi who is very sweet while you wait!

Up until today, it's been impossible to impress this jaded West LA raised esthetician with a medical skin care spa...then, I walked in All About Skin in the quiet neighborhood of Bellflower upon discovering Lucy Y. (a friend and coworker) had her perfect skin to thanks to Janell's work.
In short: the best lasers and equipment I've ever encountered, the most attentive RN I've ever had, and the prices are much better than you'll ever encounter at any place (and I know them all!) in the 310 or 818. I am one hour out of IPL and laser hair removal, and I look like I've had a small face lift and my skin has already somehow evened out.
I'm an esthetician and a surgical tech myself, so I typically get my laser and medical skin care services done at the nicer practices in Santa Monica and Beverly Hills that I've worked at or become friendly with over the years. I honestly have not encountered a laser that did not hurt, but the hair removal laser Janell uses (I don't remember the machine name unfortunately) uses a brand new method that does not "zap" but simply gradually warms- it's, dare I say it, relaxing! When it came time to do my IPL, she was extremely careful to make sure I was comfortable and used a cooling technique to start that made the laser process so much more tolerable. She even removed a red spot on my nose that would be barely visible and overlooked by most. She has the type of touch that rivals the best esthetician, though she is herself an experienced Nurse Practicioner.
It's no wonder she has clients that are willing to drive from hours away (I overheard one lady in the waiting area talk about driving from San Diego and how it was the only place she will go), Janell is really comforting and wants to deliver you results.
It's worth the drive to go to a practice that is truly devoted to taking care of their clients, especially when we are talking about your skin. I am getting married in a month and I am so happy I chose to see Janell on the advice of a friend, I am hooked and will not see anyone else. I feel very confident in her skills and I'm excited to try the other medical services All About Skin offers when I need them (woohoo...Botox!).
Seriously: take my picky, jaded, snobby Westsider word for it- try this place out if you're wanting medical esthetic services, you won't be sorry.
Bonus: Parking is a simple spacious one story lot, no "Please take the ticket". All About Skin has a surprisingly sleek and professional ambience to it as well. -

I had met Janell at a previous location she had worked. I decided to swing by All About Skin for their Valentines Event this past February and check out her new location and promos! Side note: All About Skin is GORGOUS! Very luxurious atmosphere!
Laser hair removal has always been something I have been curious about so I decided to try out under arm laser hair removal for the first time with Janell.
I have to admit it tickled my armpits terribly! I was fidgeting, wiggling, and squirming all over the place but Janell was so patient and we were done in about 15 minutes! A week later I returned for my first session of legs and bikini! Janell makes (what could be a very awkward situation) into a comfortable and very fun experience.
It has been a few weeks now since my first session of under arms and the hair is growing back so much thinner! I am SO HAPPY!I cannot wait to go back and take care of of all this biznas! Good Bye Shaving!!!
Janell is a nurse practitioner (my mother is a NP so I am very partial) and she gives great service and is so knowledgable. Thumbs up to All About Skin! -

If you are looking for a place good at injecting Botox and Fillers I highly recommend All About Skin. I wish I could attach a picture of my wife because she looks years young now. She's 42 years old and is getting carded....Seriously, I saw it happen with my own eyes at Costco. The lady felt a little silly when I walked up with our three boys but she was floored when my wife said 42. Janell you are an artist.

My mom is picky. And Mary always gets what Mary wants. Thats why when Lucy Y told me about getting Botox from this extra special injector person (I think she's called an advanced injector) I knew that Mary would want to know about her.
Mary has been wanting to get a few lines smoothed out for a few years, but she has trust issues that include not wanting strangers to stick her with needles. She knows Lucy Y though, and was FINALLY ready to take a big step towards looking younger when she found out about Lucy's experience with NP Janell Carrasco.
Typical Mary, she's done all the research about facial fillers. She knew that she wanted Juvederm, and she wanted a laser hair removal touch up too. I was so curious to actually see this all go on, and we were hoping that Janell wouldn't mind an audience.
We arrived for Mary's 10:00 appointment and parked in the huge free lot. Awesome!
The friendly receptionist greeted us and they took us in before we even had time to plug into the outlets (LOVE!), enjoy the flat screen tv or the lemon water or hot tea that they have available in their cozy waiting area. We felt like we were in a spa!
Janell was awesome and friendly with us and didn't at all mind that Lucy and I were going to watch Mary get her things done. Janell put a numbing cream on Mary's face, and then we all chatted for a bit til the cream did its thing. My mom is the biggest wimp when it comes to pain, but she didn't squirm once while she was getting injected! Mary said that it was a little pinchy, but it helped that Janell lightly tapped her finger close to the area of each injection, to divert her attention away from the needle sticking her.
Watching Janell work was like watching an artist, sculptor really, work! It was amazing how different Mary's left side of her face looked when she was done and let us all see before she started the right side! Mary almost cried, and I almost cried, because it was like she got 5 years younger immediately.
Mary held an ice pack to her left cheek as Janell did her right cheek, and about fifteen minutes later, she was done. There was a tiny amount of swelling there, but overall she looked refreshed and younger!
Mary even asked about getting Latisse for her short lashes, and Janell said that the price ($120 for one, $199 for two) was really good. Mary knows her deals!
Lucy and I let Mary get her laser hair removal done alone, and wandered into a consultation room down the hall. There were two elegant seats with outlets conveniently close (LOVE!), a pile of magazines, and this interesting looking station that Janell later told us is where they do a free skin analysis to diagnose sun damage and spots on people.
Before Mary came back out, I took Janell aside and asked if I could surprise my mom with a gift certificate to apply to her visit today. I didn't plan on this, so I sprang it on her at the last minute. But Janell made it look so pretty so fast and it was waiting for my mom at the front when she came out, so awesome!
I admit that I've had a not very positive opinion about getting work like this done before today. I guess because I always imagine that the result is going to be unnatural looking. But seeing my mom so happy to look natural and younger, and hearing Janell talk about taking doing things like this conservatively to maintain a natural look, honestly makes me look at this in a different way. I see how happy this has made my mom, so I would now recommend this to all women who feel like they just need a little something to look more refreshed! -

Leading up to my 43rd birthday, my (9 years older) sister decided to point out the depth of my nasolabial and forehead creases. She's always been somewhat of a pain in my butt, but admittedly, she was right about this. I suppose at some point those creases were going to happen, with all the damn emoting I've done with this face!
Since my (annoying) sister really DOES look way younger than her years, I stopped giving her the stinkeye when she started telling me what she's been doing for herself. Two weeks later, with my permission, my sister signed me up for a super special priced dealie ($9/unit) for Botox at a practice in Riviera Village, in Redondo Beach. And even better, she had set me up to get injected by someone she has come to trust.
When it comes to getting anything injected, picking the right person to do the injecting is THE biggest issue. It literally is the difference between an awesome looking you and a funny looking (or worse) you. So the fact that my sister - THE biggest scrutinizing, boundaries-pushing, highest-expectations client you will ever meet - has been thrilled with the Juvederm injections she's gotten from nurse practitioner and advanced injector Janell Carrasco for a while now was huge. My sister's recommendation gave me the calm I needed to trust her with my virgin forehead!
Since I had never gotten Botox before, Janell took the time to address my concerns about having a toxin in my body and suggested we use 20 units vs. the usual 30 that she usually uses on the forehead area. As she talked to me, I was close enough to scrutinize her absolutely line-free, smooth, beautiful face. My resulting questions and her super patient and detailed answers gave me a really good tour of the land of Botox, Juvederm, Dysport, Radiesse, Restylane and Perlane, laser hair removal, and microdermabrasion. Janell taught me a LOT that day!
I prepared myself for some painful injection experience, but what I felt was less than the facial acupuncture I'm used to getting. I was shocked when, about 5 minutes after we started, we were done! Janell gave me a little ice pack and I was off to dinner - with no sign of facial trauma of any kind!
In the days following, I became a little concerned that I had a slight headache in my forehead area. Janell was THE sweetest support system - she checked in on me at least twice each day, asking how I was doing and making me laugh at her jokes, til my headache went away! On exactly the 7th day after my injections, my forehead creases became pretty much nonexistent and every trace of headache was gone. Nobody can tell that I did anything, I just look more rested and less stressed.
I can feel everything in my forehead, and I can move it too! So I can still express with my face, haha - which is exactly what I wanted!!
Janell said that since it was my first time, I may or may not experience the headache if I get Botox again - I will have to choose to do it again, and just see. Anyone who knows me knows how sensitive my body is, and how natural I approach everything in life. So when I say this, you will get how powerful a statement this is for Botox:
The headache was worth it!! My forehead lines are almost non-existent!! It is SO worth it!!!
This is Janell's own location, but she does the once-monthly Botox special ($9/unit) in Redondo Beach too. So I just have to see how long it will take for the Botox to wear off and then go back to her for a touch up. I can see doing this once every six months-ish, and being perfectly happy with my results!

SUCH A RELAXING, FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT!!!
Story: About 2 1/2 years ago, I got my fiance to try 'Dysport' on his forehead...He had some wrinkles that sometimes made him look mad or stressed out with me (even when he wasn't....) So I looked into some Drs and some of the best reviews were in the Hollywood area... Of course I choose the one with 'the best stars' and 'the most reviews'. That is how we found BLUE in Sherman Oaks.... We went to BLUE a few times for Dysport and a few times for myself to get facials... Great treatments but poor service... Just BOOZHIE and not so friendly..
Scenario: Today, I needed to make a last minute appt for my fiancé before we go out with some friends he hasn't seen in a while (tomorrow night)
I type in the word "Dysport" into yelp and hit "Current Location"
TADAAAA ---- All About Skin pops up! With only 4 reviews, I was kind of skeptical.... BUT after talking to the very generous girl on the phone, I was reeled in by the sweetness in her voice. Our appt was set for 5:15pm
We got there a little early and enjoyed the cute, comforting, really home-y beauty / medi spa as we wait for Janell..
Time came and Janell was very educating on her procedure and even shared a little bit about her experience with how long she has been injecting Dysport. What topped off the conversation was how she guaranteed her work! AWESOME? Very! It's very difficult to find a Dr. especially here in LA that will 'fix their work' if you're not happy with the results.
Such a relief to meet another good person out there. It's important to feel safe who you're going to with cosmetic treatments, even facials - as it's your appearance, but I'd definitely trust this place- even only after one visit....

I have been going to Janell for a very long time for injections. She has the best deals in town! Her expertise in the field is far advanced than any other nurse in the field. I was in a very bad car accident that has left my face droopy on one side. She corrected it with Juviderm and Botox and you can't tell I have abnormalities to my face!

My cousin recommended All about skin for my sons acne problem. She took her son and his acne has diminished quite a bit. So, I decided to take my son. The inside was pleasantly decorated and welcoming. He wasn't thrilled going but the staff made him feel comfortable and relaxed. The receptionist was accommodating and offered me tea and water while I waited. It was a long process. He had an appointment at 3:00 and didn't get finished till almost 5:00. But when he came out of the room, his face looked awesome. It looked smooth, refreshed and the redness seemed to disappear. She did recommend for my son to come back in 3 weeks, which I will definitely bring him back. And if his skin looked that good with one treatment, I can't wait till the other treatments are done. Now, I am going to make to have myself pampered.

Go see Janell if you want a good job done on botox and juvederm or any other filler..I had gone to another place and they didn't give me the results I was looking for..Janell took one look at my face and new EXACTLY what to do..She knows her stuff and her prices are better than most around town..plus you want someone you can trust and who will tell you the truth especially in this day and age when people just want your money and are not interested in their quality of their work..Janell is not like that she corrected everything and my face looks great! Thank you Janell..Keep up the good work..

Well, since the place did a skin analysis *its free by the way, I saw that my skin was in bad shape. Freckles and pimples were in my future - which is not a very far fetch idea for me. So, Joan, the owner recommended several treatments and I took on her advice.
After coming back, I really felt as though my skin is really looking a lot younger and tighter. The products she sells are not cheap, but really, I checked around and most doctor's places sell it for cheaper and some places don't even sell it at all. Professional stuff man!
I recommended this place to my whole family and some friends who live close enough... now they are customers too! I would recommend this to anyone... even guys!1 Previous Review: Show all »

This place is the BEST!! I was referred to Janell by a friend of mine. You always see deals advertised but you never know what you get so I decided to follow my friends advice and I am so happy I did. I met with the Nurse Practitioner Janell and she was so nice and really helpful. I got the best results ever!! I got Botox in my frown lines and around my eyes and Juvederm in my lips and they look sooooo good. I have just started with the laser hair removal and LOVE not having to shave as often as before and I cant wait till I don't have to shave at all!! She said I need 6-8 treaments and I have only had 2 but I can tell a difference after each one there is less hair. I am thinking of getting a facial there and want to try so many of the things they have on the menu.... will keep you posted!

I went to this place as I needed a good facial and had pretty bad acne. The place is very nice, I love how it is decorated it gives a sense of tranquility. The skin analysis is very cool too, they take a picture of your face and show you where you have wrinkles, uneven skin, large pores, and other stuff.
The facial itself was one of the poorest facials I have received. The girl at the front desk is the one that prepared me, cleaned my face, gave me a massage and put the steam on me. Then another lady came in and did the extractions (I think she could have done a better job at them). Didnt take her too long and as soon as she was done, she called the front lady again to finish up the whole process.
On top of that she wanted to sell me three acne facials and apart from that she wanted to sell me this product for $200.00. They were little bottles that didn't even have the ingredients on it nor did the girl at the front desk know what was in them.
In conclusion, if you want the whole spa experience and just want a light facial this can be for you. But if you want a deep thorough facial, keep looking.
