I have moved locally within San Diego more times than I care to admit!! In the interest of not burdening my friends and having to drive my own Uhaul, after the 2nd move or so, I finally hired Tom and his guys to help me out. I chose them because they had a lower hourly rate than other companies and only a 2 hour minimum versus other companies' 3 hour minimum.
I had a great experience with these guys. I had my stuff packed and just needed them to pack the truck, drive it across Hillcrest, and unpack the truck. It ended up taking 3 hours for a full one bedroom apartment, but it was SO worth the cost - their service comes with the truck, so I didn't have to pay for that, plus I didn't have to lift a finger (after packing my place, and having to unpack, it was a welcome respite!). The 2 movers were friendly, helpful, and my stuff arrived perfectly unblemished.
I used All About Moving several more times and recommend them to everyone I know. It's the best money you'll ever spend, and a great company to boot. I recommend AAM highly! -

I moved 3 times in the past 3 years. This was my fourth time moving in San Diego! I usually rent a budget truck and ask my nice friends to help me move. But this time around I didn't have the motivation, energy, and time to move, and neither did they. My stuff has been sitting in a public storage facility for the past 3 months. Collecting dust in a sad 5x10 unit - my belongings wanted out!
So I asked around yelp, friends, and friends of friends to find an affordable and reliable moving company. I found All About Moving and they were good. I spoke with Tom, the owner to schedule a 1ish-2ishpm moving time. They had a job in the morning. It lasted longer than expected so my final moving time was 4pm. Since I had a few things to unpack at my apartment already I didn't mind too much. But if you are expecting timely movers and are on a strict schedule don't expect that to happen. On moving day you have to be prepared for anything to happen. Anyway, they didn't break anything and handled my belongings and the apartment very nicely. I paid $90/hour for two movers and a giant truck (2 hour minimum). Thank you to my movers, Gary and Allen for a great job. They are great people. Thanks, Tom! I hope I won't have to move again! -

The boxes had been barking at me from a spare bedroom like rabid dogs, gnashing their cardboard teeth at me, boasting of their weight and cumbersome nature. "I'll shift and make sure you scrape your fucking knuckles off on the doorframe!" One yelled. I hid in my bedroom and cried and cried until I was able to sleep.
The boxes - my possessions that I found myself inexplicably unable to simply cast off or burn - they were laughing at me. Sure that I was going to fail and suffer for even trying. I was not to be so easily cowed. Armed with some reviews from Yelp and an aversion for heavy lifting I raised my telephone to my face and called for help.
The next day, the day of the move, Alan and Gary descended from the clouds on gossamer wings of filigree and lifted me away from the miseries of lonely toil.
They also lifted everything that I own (with the exception of my computer which I deemed to be too delicate and important) from Carmel Valley to Encinitas. A few things were scratched and bumped (-1*) but nothing was lost, bank accounts were not laid barren, Alan and Gary were friendly and personable. Smiles all around. -

I give All About Moving A+. Made moving so easy. This was the first time I used a moving service and I was soooo happy I invested a little extra money instead of trying to bribe my friends. Only one of my friends gave me shit for not asking for his help! I told him next time I'll let him lug all my crap around the block in his truck and call it a day.
Great Service! I'd use them again.

what happened here???
i will be fair, i do not wanna be but i will be-- it took from 540pm to 1030pm to move part of a one bedroom apartment with no couch or lazyboy-- tom floodberg, the owner, was nice enough to waive the double drive time charge because of the close proximity of the move-- workers were friendly during the move-- do those two things not match part of the contents of a one bedroom apartment and close drive and 4.75 hour move??? i will let you judge that
what has me irked not is that my tv is old and they chose to move it anyway knowing it was old and now the back is falling off and they are not owning to it-- they were supposed to be here today to take it to a repair place and get the back put back on-- the owner seems annoyed at the idea of repairing my tv and the worker called me and rescheduled for another day-- then called me back and thought he was talking to his boss and called me a lying sack of sh!t-- i value my tv at 180 to 200 because to get another tv of equal quality it would cost a similar amount-- that is not rocket science-- i believe any small claims court would agree with me
basically here is what i have to say-- you are the professional-- you chose to move it after i warned you of its frail state-- your treatment of the tv caused the back to fall off when you had it-- i want you to make it right-- i will let you yelpers know if they do
in the meantime-- thanks to alan-- the rating is a two-- i do not appreciate being called a lying sack of anything even if it was supposed to be behind my back
note to alan: leave your personal life at home-- treat a customer as a customer always-- i do not want you to lose your job-- you need it-- but dude-- calling me that was just wrong
5/5/2009 This is an update to the situation... afforded every opportunity to fix the problems they caused they just ignored me... i chose not to sue them over a TV although i feel i had every right to... maybe i should buy another tv and bill them... :)
so if you use them and nothing goes wrong excellent... but i recieved no remedy for the damage they did to my property -

All About Moving did pretty well the first two times I used them, but this last time they damaged both a Thomasville chest of drawers and bed. I was able to repair the bed but the chest had a large gouge in one of the drawers. When I called Tom he started going off on this whole big thing about how he's having a nervous breakdown, selling his business, and going to see his son or some crap. First of all, I don't care about your situation, Tom. You damaged a drawer and I had to pay $125 to have it replaced. You whined and cried about how you're an emotional wreck and alcoholic and were leaving San Diego. Then this morning I see you on the local news commenting about unusually choppy waves in Ocean Beach? How dare you show your face. You cheated me and then lied about it to avoid having to pay up. You owe me $125, you swindler! You should be ashamed of yourself, Tom Floodberg!

Reasonable prices and responsible movers make these guys top notch. I'd definitely use them again!

I am a very careful person. This was recommended to me by an equally careful person. The move ended up with an expensive Quan yin statue smashed to bits and 2 Ivory Coast African masks missing. There were 3 movers and a least 2 of them appeared to be extremely disreputable. One kept fingering the artwork and the other younger person was clearly under the influence of something. This was one of the most horrible experiences of my life. Also, the price was doubly inflated. If i could give them less than this rating I would. Beware!

Closed! Our friend used these guys several times and thought they were great. And I'm sure they were at one point. But the last reviewer gave us pause so we called to talk to the owner. The number is out of service - no forwarding number. He must have gone to see his son afterall...

Do you hate moving? I do too. Rounding up help can be a pain, trying to gather all your freinds at a common time and then remembering who you owe lunch. Think hiring a moving company is unaffordable? I've used All About Moving twice now and they are great. Very accomodating and you get two hard working guys who'll move you right. They even let you help to to reduce the bill. Other friends have used them as well with good results at an affordable price.
