One day a couple years ago I was showing my wife Alki since she had never been there and we stopped in to the Alki Crab & Fish Co. for lunch. Fish and Chips sounded really good and we really like trying new places.

We walked in and were greeted right away, which is always nice. There is a great selection to choose from on the menu. I ordered the combination platter that came with halibut, clam strips, calamari rings, prawns and fries for $11.95. Let me tell you that was one of the best platters I have had. My wife ordered the two piece cod and fries for $7.95. She absolutely loved it. They make their own tartar sauce that is to die for it's that good. The best part about the place is the amazing view of Seattle and Elliott bay you get from your table.

Best fish n' chips option on Alki, Best night view, bar none, and they're open kind of late.

I have been disappointed by the other chip shops on Alki. This place has ample seating, and is located on the less busy part of Alki.

Panko-crusted fish are good. They give u plenty of tartar sauce and ketchup.

Kind of lightly staffed, so if u get there late and someone's on a smoke break, you may have to wait for service, -1 star.

Overpriced and overcooked. So came here because the location seemed nice, but that was it. Their restroom is the public restroom around the corner. Their menu starts at $7 for a single piece of fish. And have flying rats going into the kitchen. The tables are maybe cleaned once a day it they do not see any stains.

They have high end prices but substandard services.

Apparently there is a new cook who is slower than the previous one, and is new. Only two cooks for a super busy location and at lunch? I'm nervous now...

But in the end they got the main guy who is a veteran in the back to cook most of the dishes and then everything was right again!

So, this place is awesome.  It's got a great location and offers great deals on fish and chips or clam chowder for those who don't want the manufactured taste of Ivars or the super-expensive nice dishes of Salty's.  It's got a killer view too, and sits right next to the water taxi.  On beautiful summer days, nothing beats it.

The fish is always succulent and the breading crisp.  The clam chowder or crab cakes are always delicious too.

I highly recommend the halibut fish and chips with a beer on a summer day.  On  a cold winter day, go for the hot soup.

Alki Crab & Fish Co. is basically a fried fish shack on the "beach". It hasn't got much to offer vegetarians or people looking for a healthy lunch. If you're looking for a place with overpriced beers and fried fish - this is your spot.

Dan tried the clam chowder and thought it was okay but he wasn't a big fan. He also had coleslaw but it was dry and not very flavorful. I ordered a basket of fries to split with our toddler but they had absolutely no taste. It was the strangest thing: they were crispy, warm, and creamy in consistency but had absolutely zero flavor!

I'm not hard to please but was very disappointed and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Come experience the outside seating with huge couches and the stellar waterfront view while relazing in amazing lounge chairs that line the back of the outside patio!
This place is very clean and excellently situatuated off Alki. I went in on rollerblades to grab a drink and ended up staying for a bit while being stunned by the view :)
Not super pricey, and lots of variety in the fresh fish really make this place a must-see if you're in the neighborhood!

I've loved Alki Crab & Fish Co. since I came upon it by chance when I was in high school.  In the years since it has been an excellent place for everything from taking out-of-towners out for good fish 'n chips or chowder with a view of the city from across the bay (shared only by Salty's and, well, if you can afford that then be my guest) to sitting and sipping a latte whilst reading or writing at a little window table with waves chopping and seagulls pestering tourists and scuba divers just outside.

I always appreciated Alki Crab & Fish Co.'s versatility...and it's now my understanding that they've removed the old gift shop and replaced it with a bar, adding yet another function to an already great restaurant and cafe. It is perfect for the variety of functions that it fills and is a great place to make yourself a regular.  If nothing else, bring your friends from the Midwest when they come to visit.

Halibut, clams, and shrimp, oh my! Summer is finally here! For some that conjures thoughts of alfresco dining, Mojito's, and dancing in the moonlight. No matter who you are summer tends to bring a culinary desire that can only be satisfied if accompanied by a warm breeze and sunshine. Fortunately during this time of year there are no shortages of restaurants with tables on sidewalks, back yard barbeques, and vendors offering tasty flavor sensations on sticks. With so many promising, and occasionally scary dining options, deciding where to go for your seasonal culinary fix, while getting the most "bang for your buck", can be a daunting task. My suggestion is Alki Crab & Fish Co in West Seattle.

Before we go any further, let me say that this place is not fancy. You'll feel right at home in your finest flip flops and lucky t-shirt bearing the name of your favorite sports team, hint Chicago White Sox. In fact, Alki Crab & Fish looks more like a vintage relic from a Frankie and Annette beach party movie, than a modern-day eatery. You remember those tiny, rocking shacks where surfers, motor cycle gangs, and spontaneously dancing teenagers enjoyed hanging out? If you're too young for that reference, GOOGLE IT! Alki Crab & Fish is a fun way to enjoy quality food, while soaking up Seattle's gorgeous skyline. Not only does it offer a wide variety of tasty deep fried goodness such as oysters, prawns, clams, and the classic staple fish and chips, it also serves a creamy and flavorful clam chowder, along with a variety of fresh salads.

This place really should be four stars and it would take very little effort on their part. From Downtown Seattle, you take a water taxi across to West Seattle for something like $3 or $4. The ride is probably 15 minutes and it is pretty enjoyable. Immediately upon embarking this joint is just at the top of the dock. It's cute in a Fish Shack kind-of-way.

You walk up to counter to place an order. The staff was very friendly and the food prices were reasonable, IMHO. I ordered a piece of fried cod and french fries, with a small side of shelled crab and butter. My SO ordered 2 pieces of fried halibut (the pricier fish) and french fries and a beer. I think our total was around $35.

Luckily, we were able to grab a seat by the front window, which looks out to the amazing view of the Seattle skyline. This is truly why you come to this place- for the view. I'd have been disappointed if there were no tables available with a view!

The food tasted fresh and was quite tasty. I wanted more crab but they had sold me the last one. The tartar and cocktail sauces were really good, too.

All-in-all it was a very nice simple date with a beautiful view! It was a nice change from all the pricey meals we ate on our trip!

Who picks a fight with a grandma? Not me! I know better. A grandma with her grand kids cut me in line...twice! I was standing in line behind some customers at the register and as soon as they moved out of the way, a grandma with her grand kids cut right in front of me. I was shocked but I let it go. The grandma was finally done ordering and I finally got to move up to the register. I placed my order and I gave the gal my payment. I wait for my change. All the sudden the old lady comes back, stands right next to me and asks the gal at the register for some change for a large bill. Without hesitation and without giving me my change back first, the gal at the register gave the grandma her change for the large bill. The grandma leaves. The gal at the register stares blankly at me. I ask, "Uhhhh, can I have my change?" She apologized and said she can't multi-task. She gave me my change and I told her it's okay.

The fish and chips were okay. They're more expensive because they're on the east side of Alki. It's definitely better than Spuds but not better than Sunfish.

The view was great but the food was very so-so.  Clam chowder was on the thin side and not comparable to the other 100 chowder joints in the city.

Fried oysters were my favorite and fried clams were nice but we didn't touch the fried fish and didn't bother finishing the fries.

The view was lovely but with so many seafood competitors in the area, I don't see myself coming back.

One of those places that you draws you in.

I have been here a couple times for their fish and chips. They have cod and halibut options both of which are pretty good. I don't think they are the best, but I will be back again. They have a great spot on the water and a nice patio to eat on.
    Always served piping hot.

I was craving fish and chips so I went to Alki Crab & Fish Co. We walked up to the counter and ordered first, then we sat on the couch outside, next to the bar. The wait was lengthy but I didn't care much. I ordered the combo with cod, oysters, prawns, scallops and fries at the bottom. mmm fried oysters...it was really good. I also ordered this expensive crab cocktail in a tiny cup. I didn't know it was gonna be that small plus there were little cracked shells here and there but it was still pretty good. If you want crab cocktails, go to Pike Place market. They have really good crab cocktails and 3x the size of the one at the restaurant and wayyyy cheaper :)

You seriously cannot beat the view this place has!  The people who work there are really nice too... The food is good too (notice I only said "good").

However, it is expensive for what you get!  Given the high prices combined with the low overhead of the paper plates and forks used, the portions should be larger.  I suppose the most likely ungodly high rent offsets the low cost of utensils though.

Bottom line, definitely visit here one day... Just don't go there really hungry because you will spend $14 for a small salad that is not filling.  Oh, and don't expect to eat healthy here either- it is super fried food!

All you can eat prawns and chips on Thursdays/fish and chips on Tuesdays?  Kill me now.

We opted for combo #1, with fried oysters, cod, scallops, and prawns.  Our friend went for comb #2 with halibut (first of the season), fried clams, calamari rings and prawns.  The scallops were sweet and not to be missed.  The only misstep is that they piled everything on the fries, which soaks up the grease.  Best to eat the fries sparingly.  The wait on a perfect sunny day can be lengthy.  Best to grab a table outdoors, and hope that you'll see divers pull funky shit out of the water.  We saw a salvaged penguin, covered with algae, come out from under.

Back to the food.  For non-seafood eaters, they've got chicken strips, field green salads (honest to goodness field greens, not just crappy lettuce), and burgers.

Throw in an incomparable view and an ice cream cone (Dryer's, deal with it), and you've got a perfect scene.

ps -- their http://restaurant.com certificate is for $50 worth of food.  Get a group together - their prices are so reasonable, it's actually hard to buy that much food just for a few...

Two orders to go. Prawns and chips & scallops & chips. Prawns cooked to the hardness of a rock including the tiny, flattened prawn itself. Scallops like hard candy outside & scallops themselves nearly un-cooked. But it was ready in 8 minutes and only $9 & 10$ each.  The bar was busy. Maybe the bartender is also the cook....

I'd never had fish and chips before, so I knew I had to have it during my visit to Seattle.  Upon an Alki local's recommendation, my friend and I went to this place to properly orientate me to the world of fish and chips.

I got the halibut and chips. OH DEAR GOD.  It was so good!  The tartar sauce that came with it was just perfectly tart and savory.  Did I mention the entire meal cost me less than $10??  Did I ALSO mention that it's self-service, very laid-back, and got the best view of downtown Seattle skyline (free seating inside and outside.  I recommend OUTside)?

Thanks to Alki Crab & Fish, I am now a fan of fish and chips.

My husband is always trying to find a great fish and chips place that has the "perfect batter." He agrees that this is the best place in the city for fish and chips.  He actually had the cheeseburger and admits that ACFC should stick with the fish.

This place is definitely not fancy by any means but has an amazing view of the city.  It was an amazing evening so we sat outside on one of the park benches and then walked on the docks among the fishermen.

I will definitely bring out of town people to try the food and look at the view.  It's worth it.

BEST FRIED FISH EVER!!  And the best view of Seattle I've ever seen.  There is really nothing more spectacular that a clear Seattle day in the summer.  And to complement that with a piping hot bowl of clam chowder encased by delicious crunchy and moist sourdough bread... basically cemented my desires to move back to this awesome city.

Take the Elliott Bay Water Taxi over here for 3 bucks and enjoy a meal for $10 or less.  And they serve alcohol on the patio too.  The food itself was good -- I think actually better than Ivar's.  The soup wasn't as good as Ivar's (but actually I think Ivar's doesn't do bread bowls, only tankers) but I think the fish was FAR better, and LARGER pieces as well.  I had the cod, 3 pieces for $9.95.  Comes with really good, crispy fries, seasoned too.  Their clam strips are HUGE, and my brother who eats like a horse couldn't even finish them all.

I HIGHLY recommend this joint!  It's actually only been there since 1996, according to the lady at the desk.

This one of those holes in the wall in Seattle that is a gem.

By far one of the best fish and chips around.  Some may compare with
Spuds.  After going to Alki Fish & Chips Co, I don't want to go anywhere else.  The prices and the quality of fish, and their tartar sauce is definitely worth the reason to go back.  Spuds almost always give me a heartburn...

Generous portions, their clam chowder is one of the best!
Highly suggest go early for lunch or dinner since this place is pretty small, and the passenger ferry docks right at the waterfront, and when they get off the boat, you'll be fighting to get in line for your tasty entree.

Family friendly for sure.  I would've given 5 stars, but I give a 4 just for parking.  They have a parkinglot, you'll have to duke it out with the army of frogman divers putting on their gear and having their own tailgate party.

I wish I could give this place NO STARS but you have to put one in order to write a review. Don't waste your time or your money. I was shocked at the quality of food and it took over 46 minutes for us to get Frozen Shrimp and tasteless French fries. The shrimp came from Costco or someplace like that. The place was dirty also they don't wipe off tables and when we got our food they served it to us on a dirty food tray. OMG! I am a pretty laid back person and don't let things get under my skin but this was horrible. I cleaned my own table and could not even put trash in the trashcan it was over flowing. I wanted to cancel my order and run after observing the way this place was ran. The only nice thing was the view.

As I was standing on the deck tonight where with the wind chill factor, I'm sure the temperature was somewhere in the mid to high 30's.  I was freezing cold but admiring the amazing Seattle skyline as I jigged for some squid.  No luck.  I did however happen to wander in to this little place for some clam chowder.  I am a fan of all soups...especially those that are cream based and come in a hot sourdough bread bowl.  I'm sure that they store the sourdough in the fridge and toss it into the oven to "bake" as they called it.  It didn't matter.  The bread came out with the outer crust all crispy and not tough at all.  Almost like a great piece of baguette.  Although the chowder was a bit on the thin side, anything warm was much appreciated.  They even went so far as to sprinkle a little dried out finely chopped parsley over the top as a garnish.

I did however notice that they used Sprite for the Italian soda's.  As for the burgers on the menu...why bother?  The fried fish looked really good and the fries were natural cut from what I could see.  They offered all the proper accouterments such as vinegar, tartar sauce, fresh lemons and ketchup for the fries.  I don't care what the foodies say, I grew up with ketchup and look down on me as they may I stand by it.

The views from this dock are probably some of the best views of Seattle.  Take a date here at night or catch a few squid like me and have yourself some fresh calamari.  While you're there have some chowder.  As if you really needed a reason to have clam chowder.

I have to agree with most who have reviewed this place, the fish and chips is in my opinion the best in the Seattle area.

Perfectly battered and cooked. The fish remains Moist and flavorful, and the crust remains light and non-greasy.

Also, you can't argue with the outdoor wonderful views of downtown Seattle and Mt. Rainier.

Place is worth the water taxi trip over the water or the short drive to West Seattle.

This unassuming fish shack has practically the same killer views of the downtown skyline as Salty's does -- but at a fraction of the price and with half the tourists (though there is a  weird little gift shop on-site).

You order at the counter, get a number, and take your pile-o'-food-on-tray to the tables inside or the picnic benches outside. I wasn't blown away by the chips part of the fish-and-chips, but the fish was pretty good (they have cod and halibut). And the tartar sauce was tops. I also loved the fresh, non-mayo-drenched cole slaw. The menu also has clam chowder, smoked salmon caesar, and crab and shrimp cocktails -- and everything's cheap. I'll definitely go back again and next time I'll bring my camera.

Why haven't you tried this place yet? No, really, just get in your car and go. Don't think, just grab your wallet and come eat some of the freshest tastiest fish and chips this side of Seattle. Battered and fried to crispy golden perfection, this food will not disappoint!

The fresh fish is beautifully battered and fried, leaving it deliciously crunchy on the outside while staying hot and moist on the inside. The fries are crisp and not soggy. They also have chowders, coleslaw, and various other seafood as well as a choice for your fish (cod & halibut). All this goodness doesn't have to break the bank either, a 3oz alaskan halibut with a basket of fries is $6.95, with 6ozs it's $10.95 (cod runs a dollar or two cheaper).

The restaurant shares a building with a boat rental office, and has a big window that looks out across the sound to the Seattle skyline. There are lots of tables outside and a park close by to wander in, it's just perfect no matter what the weather: Rain - sit cozy inside; Shine - bask in the sun and dine on piping hot food washed down by a cool drink. You really can't go wrong.

Alki Crab & Fish Co. isn't  the sexiest place around, but you can't beat the view or the fish.

I loved that fact that the fish wasn't too greasy and that batter was light and crispy.  Sometimes when you eat fish and chips, the batter just slides off the fish and then you're left with soggy fish, chips, and flakes of greasy batter.

Go at sundown and the owner fill dim the lights because "it makes the sun shine brighter off the skyline."  How sweet!

Went here last night with my family and LOVED IT! The waitress was very friendly and the fish was ready quickly, piping hot, and paired with some of the most delicious fries I have ever tasted . The tartar sauce was not the basic store-bought stuff, it was better! The view at night was gorgeous, too.
We will be back for sure!
The only negative: A dip in the floor at the door that made it next to impossible to get my father's wheelchair in. I kneed him in the back and eventually we made it in. (He's tough, he can handle it)

They get an extra half star for their generous restaurant dot com certificate. Their minimum food purchase is only $35 for a $25 discount.

The ambiance of the place is very warm and cozy. We came in around dusk (which is 4pm now) and the lights were low, they had a lovely tree decorated, it was pretty clean and comfy looking. It all contributed to a very cozy atmosphere. The lady at the counter couldn't have been nicer. We gave a 20% tip even though it was mostly self serve.

The steamed manila clams were great. There was a lot of garlic, but they may have used the pre-minced variety since it wasn't that pungent and had a texture more like chopped, cooked, peanuts. It was served in a sourdough bread bowl, which was extra tasty since it was toasted. Why doesn't everyone toast their bread bowls? It's exponentially better!

The only downsides were the cocktails. We're all probably used to expecting the fancy restaurant-style shrimp cocktails but I'm beginning to learn that seafood cocktails and ceviches in the real world are less impressive.

Here, they served up a couple ounces of peeled baby shrimp with a dollop of cocktail sauce on top. The crab cocktail consisted of pulled crab meat served the same way. They both had a good portion of shell present; about 10%.

The clam chowder was piping hot and I didn't learn my lesson the first four times and nearly ruined the rest of the meal with a blistered mouth. The chowder was pretty tasty with good chunks of potato and clams in a velvety cream broth.

We also ordered a combo basket (lots of food!) to round out our $35 min and were pretty pleased. We had a lot of food so we didn't get to it until it was just warm. The seafood was all perfectly fried; bay scallops were succulent and tender, the shrimp tails were crispy enough to be eaten whole, and the halibut was tender, even though it was eaten last.

The fries were very tasty. They were medium thick, and well seasoned. I wish we had separated them from the other fried items so they would have been crispier. We had also soaked them with malt vinegar so that didn't help either.

It was a nice place to have supper and we left happy.

Do you like fish?  Do you like chips?  Do you like to eat in places with great views of the Seattle Skyline?  Then come on down to Alki Crab and Fish Company.

Now I am not usually a fish person but my boyfriend assured me that their halibut was really tasty so we stopped in.  They make a mean fried halibut--good fish + good breading + super hot fryer = tasty fried goodness.  To top it off, the fries were some of the best I've had in a long time.  Good food at a good price with a great view of the city--what more could you want?

I don't eat there as often as I like or plan because of the parking issues, so over the summer,  I just leave it out of my dinner line up.  But on a cold or rainy day when the rest of Seattle forgets about Alki, I make a point of stopping by on my way home from work and picking up dinner.

Have only been disappointed once, and so I just don't order the meal with the Calamari anymore....

The prawns are good size, and their fish portions are generous too...  Sometimes the wait is a little bit longer than I would expect when I am the only order waiting, but amazingly when there are lots of orders up it's quite fast, so maybe the few times I have showed up and no one was there I was interrupting break time....

Definetly better than any of the other fish and chips you'll find on Alki, and possibly better than anything you'll find in Seattle.  And they are very friendly.  I don't remember the schedule, but some nights there's all you can eat fish and chips and other nights you might get free dessert with your order, they vary it up so you need to check if you're hoping for one specific special.......

It was our last day, about to go back to San Diego in 4 hours, we wanted go grab seafood since we were in Seattle/Bremerton area and have not had a seafood in 5 days.  This place was recommended by my friend who lives in Auburn area.

I ordered Combo #1 and it came with fish, chips, fried oyster, and fried shimp.  It was very well made.  The tartar/cocktail sauce was a A-OK, but they sure do know how to fry the seafood.  I'm not too big on the fried seafood (I'm more of raw seafood kinda dude), but I thoroughly enjoyed the dish.  Not greasy but still crispy; the best part of all was that it was fresh out of the fryer, so that dang things were hot!

It was a great place and I will be back here next time I'm visiting Seattle.

Since I came here during weekdays, parking wasn't bad, but I'm sure it will be during lunch time and the weekend.

This place serves a great basket of perfectly battered fish and chips. I especially enjoy the halibut -- nice and firm "meaty" fish, but without any greasy or leaden breading.

I have never been much of a tartar sauce fan, because often times it's too sweet and/or made with sweet pickles. AC&FC's tartar? Tart lemon, fresh dill, and a nice, savory pickle flavor. They must must make this stuff fresh, because I have never tasted tartar so worth the calories!

If, after gorging yourself with the aforementioned fish & chips, you still have room for more, may I suggest the ice cream case? It's no frills, but satisfying nonetheless. I am a fan of the black cherry ice cream. Hits the spot every time.

The waitstaff are very friendly, the view of downtown Seattle is one of the nicest, and the seaside fish "shack" vibe works here. Glad we found this place.

If you are craving the fried fish & chip experience (or as I was, fried clams, calamari, fish, prawns and chips), this is the place to go.

Excellent view and good food for a good price.  Just what I was hoping for.

The only reason I am not giving them five stars is that they were out of crab so I couldn't have a crab cocktail.  Oh, and because their outdoor seating is reserved only for people who bought beer or wine.  Not a huge deal though, there is plenty of other outdoor seating, just not in the little fenced-off area.

Oh well, maybe next time - and there WILL be a next time!
