great little boutique in hinsdale.
one of my favorite places to shop & my mother & i will make practically any excuse to come browse at alixandra or sister ships hollis and alixandra blue a block away.
the clothing is always adorable and very in style. there has never been a time when i walked out of alixandra finding nothing i wanted! (i'm usually begging my mother for a top or a dress or some jewelry) & the great part is i can find clothes & so can my 52 year old mother! (although she might be trendier than most...) it's very clean, light, bright & airy & the staff is wonderful. also, the clothing is relatively well-priced. and while most of the brands are what you would find in that tbd section at nordstrom, it's pieces that i haven't seen anywhere else.
however, the high point of alixandra for me is their jewelry. rows upon rows of beautiful earrings, necklaces and bracelets. gorgeous. whenever i need to buy a gift for someone, this is my go-to stop. all of it is unique, well-made and gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous. i ALWAYS get compliments on whatever earrings or necklace i am wearing that day from alixandra.
definitely a must-stop shopping spot in hinsdale. -

I don't care of the quality nor the selection of the clothes, but I would like to discuss the owner and the character of who runs this operation.
I am a current resident of Hinsdale for over 8 years and my wife and I have three beautiful children. I have a 17 year old son who is currently battling cancer and needed a bone marrow transplant to survive. A wonderful friend of ours in Hinsdale organized a bone marrow drive at one of the local schools and asked the local vendors of Hinsdale and surrounding area to post a small and non-obtrusive 8 x 11 flyer to advertise this vital and important event, tantamount to the survival of a human being.
All of the stores asked to put up a flyer did so with pleasure and supported this event, except, you guessed it: ALIXANDRA COLLECTION!
They gave an excuse of the flyer would block the entrance and was against store policy. Was I irate? You betcha! I got the run around on why and pleaded my case on how this "small" but very important flyer may have life saving value and would be up for TWO DAYS! I got a hold of the owner only after I mentioned, I would do everything to disseminate the story of utter idiocy and the blatant disregard of common sense and compassion. The owner had the gal to send a check to say she was sorry, to the person in charge of the bone marrow drive, like it would wipe away her lack of common sense. Money buys all mentality and would mend things! The kicker is that she is a resident of Hinsdale and has three kids of her own. You would think a parent would understand the situation and put up a flyer which was 8 x 11 for two days, to advertise to others the importance of the event to possibly save not only my son's life but the thousands of others waiting to find a bone marrow donor.
The rich and famous will continue to shop freely at this boutique, but I thought the stores patrons would like to be made aware of what had happened. Especially to the patrons who have children.

The process is simple and painless. Register, send away for a kit, swab the inside of you mouth four times and send away! That's it! A rather simple act to possibly save a life!!!

If you are looking for some trendy and hip clothing and accessories in the western burbs, search no further.
Located in downtown Hinsdale, Alixandra Collections (there is also a sister store in Western Springs called Alixandra Blue specializing in jeans) has a wide range of belts, bags, jewelery, shoes and clothing.
Since the store is large- everything is clearly displayed. Gotta love it when shopping is simple!! I have bought several bags and accessories here and am always asked where I got them. The owner of these boutiques brings in the the most unique products and there is always something new!
You know its good when it makes one of Chicago Magazine's top boutiques of 2007 and it is not even in the city!! The beauty of Hinsdale? It's only 25 minutes from the Loop and for all you city snobs- no- you don't need a passport to come out west!Listed in: "Head West, young man/woman"!

It's an interesting store with a lot of unique items. It's worth a visit if you're in the area but it's not really worth going out of the way for as there's better shopping to be found elsewhere in the area.
Still not a bad place to shop around at, -

Great stop if you are in hinsdale. All styles of jewelry and accessories. Great fashion, pricy, but no more than you would pay buying these brands elsewhere. Check out the clearance purses!

Ok a 4.5. I love this place!!! The owner travels often to find funky pieces and you have an enormous selection of earrings for $20.00 to a very unique necklace for $200+. I have received sooo many compliments on many of the pieces I wear. It's seriously a gem, I'm thrilled to have it so close...But also wish it wasn't so convenient to go blow so much $. Love/ Hate. They also have clothes, belts, purses. A decent range of prices. Some great little dresses for $50, but also a stinkin' tank top for $90. No thanks. Only problem I have is staff can be snooty. But you ARE in the Dale!
