WHERE DO I START!!! ALIX IS THE BEST!!!
I was introduced to Alix on the phone after a friend told me they had come across her beautiful work and she could be the style that we were looking for. We wanted someone that would not only capture the emotions and moments of the day but someone who would be our friend and we would feel comfortable around! Alix was exactly those two things.
We had our destination wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Alix came down for the weekend and took amazing photos of the property, our guests and our wedding. Her unique style gives a fresh take on wedding photos.
Most of all, Alix was SO SWEET and EASY to work with!! She went with the flow and captured all the moments.. AND MUCH MORE!
I would highly recommend Alix for destination wedding, at home wedding, ANY wedding or event !!!
Thank you to the most amazing photographer, words cannot express how thankful we are for the memories you captured for us. We will forever have your photos displayed in our house : ).

The photos Alix took of our wedding are incredible. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone.
She was amazing a taking both traditional wedding photographs and goofy/alternative/unique ones, capturing personality of the wedding and the people in it. Though Alix is great a melting into the background, she is also excellent at marshaling the crowd to get great photos out them them. All the candids she took are absolutely precious.
Just looking at her photos brings me right back to the joy I felt on our wedding day.
ALSO (bonus) she is great to work with. My husband and I only spoke with her a couple times on the phone before the wedding, so the first time we met in person was 30 minutes before the ceremony. Alix immediately felt like an old friend who fit into the day perfectly, making everyone completely comfortable. Guests came up to me during the wedding to tell me how awesome/cool our photographer was.
Basically, you can't do better than this lady! -

To be fair, we haven't gotten our wedding photos yet, but I just wanted to rate our experience with Alix so far.
When I first met with Alix, I knew she was our gal. She's funny, friendly, and in love with her job--I mean, her photos speak for themselves, but once I met her in person, I was convinced that she'd do an amazing job.
At the wedding, she was professional, supportive, and invisible. Everyone was impressed by how quick and efficient she was. When we met, I told her that we didn't want a bunch of stiff, formal shots, and she totally respected our wishes: we were done with the family shots in probably half an hour, leaving the rest of the time for candids. And when I complained that I wasn't photogenic she assured me that the photos looked great. I guess I trust her, because I felt less nervous after that! (My favorite line of the night: I asked if she'd get a shot of my husband looking at my boobs, and she deadpanned that she already had nine of those shots.) And seriously, I hardly noticed her during the reception, although she kept popping up here and there, notably on the dance floor when Lady Gaga was playing. She's apparently a fan.
I can't wait to see the photos--I'm sure they're going to be wonderful! -

Haven't seen my wedding pictures yet, but I have a feeling they will be awesome. (I will update this when I get em.)
Alix was so friendly, enthusiastic and nice. I really enjoyed having her at the wedding. She put me and my friends and family at ease. What a great personality to have in the mix! Everyone was asking me how we found such a cool photographer. -

I've had Alix bookmarked to review for months now. I've breezed through my other wedding related reviews, so I'm not sure why I've been procrastinating on this one. I think it has something to do with the fact that I highly doubt my unartistic self can adequately describe just how awesomely wonderfully beautiful Alix's pictures are. Seriously wonderful. We received SO many compliments on our engagement pictures and two friends actually booked her after seeing them! She took us - a normal looking couple - and made us look . . . .magazine worthy. But in a totally cool way - not stuffy magazine.
Not only does she have mad skills - but she is incredibly friendly. You have to be around your photographer ALL DAY for your wedding and so we really wanted someone with positive energy. Bless her soul, because Alix basically radiates positive vibes.
Plus, her prices are super competitive. While this definitely factored into our decision to choose Alix as our wedding photographer, after seeing our pictures I truly believe the work she does is priceless.
as in just do it. make it happen any way you can. -

I got to work with Alix last weekend (I am a DJ) and I noticed right away how comfortable our couple seemed when she was around. I work a lot of weddings, and many times, the photographers are adding to the stress, rather than ameliorating it. I have not gotten the chance to see the final product from the wedding we worked together, but she took so many shots, it is hard to imagine that the pictures will turn out anything short of spectacular.
Alix's personality and style made everyone around her feel relaxed and comfortable. From a photo-journalistic standpoint, that is the best thing that can happen. I saw Alix get some great candid shots. And it seemed like every time I was thinking "oh that would be good a picture" she was there to nail it. Great work! -

Wow! Where to begin? I met Alix yesterday at a west side Chicago hair salon, where my best girlfriend from college had us all getting our 'dos, putting on dresses, makeup, and jewelry. Suffice it to say, we were more than a little stressed out. Alix was introduced quickly and had the very challenging job of making a roomful of anxious, excited women look like relaxed, excited women in photos. I don't even have to see the shots to know she succeeded because simply her presence relaxed us - her warm smile was equal parts Ricky Lake and Bea Arthur, making me feel completely certain that the whole event would be a success and a joy.
She's just one of those people that makes you say, "wow, what a wonderful person!" She is both highly detailed and professional and yet also exudes a laid-back and confident self-assurance that makes you breathe a little easier and just know it's all gonna be ok.
And it was! Alix shot photos through the afternoon and into the evening, only leaving the venue when it was clear that there was not one more possible moment of importance or fun or craziness to document. She even stopped on her way out to let me rope her into getting her own photo taken in the photo booth - and she hammed it up like a pro!
I can only imagine how happy and fabulously satisfied I would have been with choosing and working with Alix if I were the bride, because she blew me away and I was just in the wedding party!
The setting was highly urban - in a west side Chicago industrial building flanked by train tracks and all manner of factory/loft-based companies. At 7 pm, for after-ceremony pics, we found ourselves brought out in front of the wire fencing, rock piles, Chicago's own Tamale Spaceship food van, and elevated train tracks -- and ended up having the times of our lives! She invited us to be silly, grungy, and beautiful - and even instructed the whole bridal party to strut away from her towards the bridge -- Reservoir Dogs style. What photographer have I ever have tell me to do the RD strut? Never before!
I would hire Alix in a Chicago minute and I hope this review helps you do just that! -

I don't think a Yelp review does justice to how great Alix is. My wife and I could not be more pleased with the results of the photos, and our overall experience working with Alix. It's now been a year since our wedding (this review has been long coming), and we still get the "wow" factor when we have friends look at the pictures.
The best part about Alix's work is how much she just blends in and becomes a part of the wedding. It doesn't feel like there are cameras in your face, and there's no awkward 4 hour pre/post wedding pose session where someone keeps telling you to scoot closer to even out the picture (unless you wanted that, I guess - she's great to work with, so if that's what you prefer, you'd get it). She puts her heart and soul into the work, and the results come out in the final product.
If you're planning a wedding, do yourself a favor and email Alix. You will not be disappointed. -

When my fiance and I were planning our wedding earlier this year, there was only one photographer I wanted to document the ceremony- Alix Klingenberg.
Alix is a highly skilled photographer and has a genuine talent for capturing the mood of a particular event. You'd be surprised how rare this is. As digital photography continues to grow, there are a ton of amateurs out there who call themselves photographers, but are really just pointing and shooting.
We wanted someone who was going to get creative and not just give us your standard, run-of-the-mill wedding photos. It was especially important because our wedding was anything but standard. We got married at Taco Bell.
Alix was the perfect choice for documenting this unique event. Her easy-going nature and laid back attitude fit in perfectly with the style of our wedding. That's not to say she wasn't working hard though. Alix took thousands of photographs throughout the evening, from our walk down the aisle (OK, it was just a walk to our favorite Taco Bell booth), all the way to the end of the reception. It's clear she has a passion for photography.
When word of our Taco Bell wedding hit the Associated Press news wire, the story exploded and became an overnight sensation. Alix's photographs were an integral part of our story. Her photos were on the CBS Early Show and were seen by millions of people across the country.
Alix Klingenberg photography really is as good as it gets. If you're looking for a professional photographer with an artistic eye and a fun, easy-going attitude, look no further than Alix. -

I signed up for Yelp in order to write this review. I just had an engagement photo shoot with Alix last week. I had been skeptical about the idea of getting of an engagement shoot, but I don't always feel comfortable around a camera and wanted the extra practice. Alix put both me and my fiance at complete ease. She obviously LOVES what she does, and her enthusiasm is infectious! She payed attention to exactly what I like out of photos and got so many unique shots. We had such a wonderful time with her that I wish we could do it over again!
I can't wait to see the photos! If you have looked at her website, you know that her work is just incredible. Will update soon.
