Review from Robin K.

Alisha has been taking primary care of my skin for the past 7 years. Not only is she a caring, funny, wonderful person, she takes great care of my skin. I have never looked this good and a big part of it is her expertise. I have complete confidence in her and she always explains what she wants to do and why. Over the years we have worked on many aspects of skin care and she has educated me on how important up-keep is. Basically I love Alisha. Sometimes she can be challenging to get into but that's because she is so good.

She is quite good but not that good that one can ( or should) tolerate delayed, late or NO callbacks for appts. Not wowed by the illusion of indispensability.

Review from Ann S.
I've been a client of Alisha's in the past when she first opened her doors as Medical Skin Aesthetics. First off, I'd like to mention how awesome it is to see how many people love her services and how many people she has uplifted because of such skill and talent. It's great to see how Medical Skin Aesthetics has really flourished and rightfully so.
Alisha delivers a no nonsense approach to all of her facials. We took before and after photos and saw a dramatic difference in my acne prone skin. It was fantastic. The facials consisted of steaming, extractions, intense medical grade peels, topped off with a recommended home regimen if necessary.
One thing that I have not discovered with any other esthetician is the way Alisha incorporates dermaplaning into the sessions. Dermaplaning is a process where Alisha takes a blade and literally shaves and scrapes the hair off of your face as if you were some type of burly man. Ladies, kiss all of your peach fuzzies, unibrows, moustaches, and sparse chin hairs goodbye! Virtually painless and the results give off a baby smooth effect. Not to mention that this technique also aids in exfoliation. Plus and plus! Oh and get this, Alisha takes it a step further and plucks some of your visible nose hairs away as well. Ouch. This part I hated, but necessary I'd say. Nothing worse than a tarantula leg hanging out of one nostril when you're on a hot date.
In short, Alisha delivers quality, attentive skin care. Alisha has a genuinely endearing presence and makes you feel really hopeful about attaining a clearer, brighter complexion.
The unfortunate thing is that she gets super busy with other clients, so please keep in mind that appointments here might be hard to get into when wanting a regular routine. I am not definite on whether this has changed or not since I haven't been in a while. -
Review from Heather W.
Cambridge, MA
I had one of the most awkward experiences ever here and must confess.
I was in need of a facial and, after not hearing back from some earlier emails, finally got Alisha on the line. No space (shocking) but I'd be on standby. No worries -- being on standby and able to pop up with an hour notice meant I had a good shot. And, wha-bam! a spot opened for the next day.
Next day rolls around and I show up. When she sees me she immediately is like shocked -- saying I look so put together today and why the big change? This was...let's just say... slightly perplexing. I mean, I don't remember what I wore the last time I came in but it wasn't like I was in PJs then and some three piece suit now.
So I let it go...
Then, after waiting around for a bit she came into the waiting room and got me and then said some other girls name. She also thanked me for my hilarious Yelp post.
Here is where the awkwardness began. I was fairly sure I'd Yelped about her before but I don't remember it being particularly hilarious. And (about this I was sure) my name was not ____, it was Heather.
But what was I to do?! Maybe I heard her wrong and she actually said Heather. Why make it awkward? Just keep calm and carry on.
The facial began.
She then commented on how my skin was looking a lot better and much less broken out. But I don't really break out... And how the heck could she remember what my skin was like for a zillion years ago anyway?
Awkwardness continues!
So I thought I had a solution -- just talk a lot about your job and stuff and maybe she'll realize that you aren't who she thinks you are.
No dice.
Instead, I'm fairly sure she thought I was someone totally different. I also ended up buying some eye lotion and face cream and am slightly worried that it's for someone with much more acne-prone skin (I think my skin gets fairly dry and it seems the face stuff sort of sucks the moisture out).
Lesson learned: when you come in off the standby and she's (understandably) somewhat confused as to who you are, save yourself much much more awkward sauce by just correcting her at step one!!
Lesson number two: just because someone is basically an inch away from your entire face does not mean they actually know who you are.
Confession complete. -

I have been to see Alisha twice now. I must admit that I am completely hooked. Her methodology for dealing with delicate skin is precise and the actual services she provides are unsurpassed. The last time I saw her, she sold me a new cleanser and some exfoliating pads. Weeks after seeing her, my skin still looks amazing.
I definitely plan to see her once a quarter from now on. -
Review from Jennifer O.

My skin, like my hair is a f***ing disaster most of the time. Lots of people just get to roll out of bed, run a comb though their hair, put on some chap stick and call it a day. Not me. Since I turned 12 my skin and my hair has been nothing short of acting like a psychotic hitchhiker on the loose from the nearest women's prison...not out to kill you, but maim you to the point of losing all societal functionality and self worth.
Seriously y'all. Issues. I haz 'dem.
When my skin once again started to display to the world that I'm stressed about my job and my life; instead of helping a sister out for once and at least letting me go a day without having to haphazardly attack my face with makeup and chemicals; I decided I had enough. I'm gonna launch a full force Shock and Awe on my face in well timed, strategic phases.
I couldn't do this alone. So I called Alisha...knowing I wouldn't be able to get in for months. It's okay. I've battled terrible skin for 12 years. What's 3 more months?
When I made it to her office, she took the time to go over my issues with me, fully agreeing my skin is a total domestic terrorist pain in the ass and must be conquered once and for all. "Excellent," I thought. "Alliance, formed."
So she scraped all kinds of nastiness of my face, microdermed off some more layers, put on a lactic acid chemical peel that I washed off at the end of the night. And she sent me home with my new favorite sunscreen Elta MD and an Obagi cleanser to use at night. She gave me a game plan to change my pillow cases every other night, use a clean washcloth to scrub my face twice a day every day. So I did all that, and my skin looked AMAZING! Like nothing had ever happened. Was this psycho banshee that is my skin finally learning the error of her ways, getting off crack, going to night school, finishing her court ordered community service? Could it be?
Not this time. My job got crappy again, and I got super busy and sleep deprived, and I broke up with this guy and my birth control pill started making me feel weird, and the cysts came back in full force on my neck and jawline. Face looks great. Neck and jawline...not so much.
Luckily my next appointment is in a week where Phase 2 of The War on Jen's Skin will commence (just in time for a wedding I'm in. Whew!)
This is a really long winded, self indulgent, overshare way of saying that Alisha is amazing, changes your mindset about your skin, is worth the wait and money (though the facial isn't nearly as expensive as other places in SF). But you really do have to take her plan seriously, and if you're trying to clear up major issues, it will take a few rounds to work. I love her. Don't make an appointment. Phase 3 is coming up in September I need her full attention. -

Review from Maxine S.
San Francisco, CA
There's a reason Alisha's harder to get into than French Laundry. She gives THE BEST clinical facial EVER. Don't go there expecting a frou frou facial with no substance- she will want to discuss your skin concerns, your current regimen, and the game plan to make your skin the most radiant it can be.
She starts by taking some pictures and showing you what her concerns are. She tailors each facial to your specific needs- no cookie cutter recipe here! She also has more knowledge about skin conditions and practical advice than half the dermatologists I know.
She shares an office with a plastic surgeon whom I've never met, but sounds wonderful and is available for all your Botox/Restylane/blepharoplasty/facelift needs. I'll be keeping his number handy for the prophylactic Botox I plan to start at 30.
They don't offer one specific brand of skincare, but have handpicked the best products from a handful of companies. Alisha recommends certain products for you, but is not pushy at all, and will offer samples if they are available.
So the facial itself was awesome and I will definitely be going back in 3 months, but the best part of the whole experience was just talking to her. She's obviously incredibly gifted at what she does, but she is also the nicest, sweetest, most down-to-earth person ever. I feel like if I'd met her at school or work, we coulda been BFF.
Sooo... it may be difficult to get an appointment with her, but like my Ma always said- good things are worth waiting for. ;) -

I did not want to write this review because I want her to myself and don't want to make it even harder to get an appointment or not be able to have appointments as often as I would like. But I just have to.
Alisha is amazing! Very sweet and hospitable but even more importantly, professional and knowledgeable. She works magic. I had been looking for someone like her all my life and am extremely happy to have found her.
I got really tired of paying $100 for someone to play Enya, blow some steam on my face and massage in some lotion, I could do the same for a fraction of the cost and without having to go anywhere. I almost gave up and then found Alisha, who provided everything that I was looking for. She provides a real facial, one you cannot do on your own and you come out looking amazing, rather than just having a really red face.
The only downside is too many people already know this, hence it is hard to get her on the phone or make an appointment, but the difficulty is well worth the results. Plus once you are in, she will make your next appointment at the end of each visit, which makes it easier, just make sure to write down and not lose the information of your next appointment, because often she has to book you a few months out and if you loose it, it may take some work to call in for the info. -

I found Alisha cold and standoffish, borderline rude. The office staff is the same. It is impossible to get an appointment, they won't even answer the phones as "they are way too busy", that is how they put it.
She is very expensive and I do not need the attitude so I won't go back. -

Review from Rho T.
Alisha is one of those kind gentle souls that make you feel, well.......not like a kind gentle soul in comparison.....darn her!!
All jokes aside, she is a fantastic Aesthetician and definitely worth the wait, especially when it comes to your skin. Don't spend your money on some mediocre place because they have an immediate availability, wait it out and make that appointment w/Alisha.
My appointment with her was back in April. I have extremely sensitive skin. So sensitive, Alisha provided me w/my very FIRST facial...and I'm already xxx years old. My skin gets a reaction to a lot of products so I have always used the most non-sensitive all natural types of skincare items out there. She asked me about my skin care regimen, and the products I use. She flattered me by being impressed that I've done so much research and commended me on the products I use. This whole time though, I'm freaking out hoping I don't have a crazy burning sensation kind of facial, and that I'll come out looking like Fire Marshall Bill.
A signature facial treatment later, no signs of redness, no stinging, no burning, and she even dabbed a bit of makeup on me to finish the visit. She said she likes us women to leave there feeling and looking refreshed. So sweet!
She didn't try to bamboozle me, or try to sell me unnecessary extra facial care to add to my regimen, in fact, she didn't even try to change my regimen or the products I already use. She told me once I'm done w/my products, to come back and see if I want to try some of the all natural stuff she carries.
I cancelled my most recent appointment with her a couple of weeks ago to due to a prior commitment, but the fact that it had been pre-scheduled months ago during my first appt was genius. (once you have your first appt w/her, lock in your next one- no more waiting!)
I will definitely make another appointment with her, she is worth the wait. For all those w/sensitive skin (I have eczema) don't be hesitant, she knows what she's doing and she's very thorough.
P.S. The ambiance, color, and simplicity of her little place is spot on, you'll feel very relaxed! -

This review is wayyyyyy over due and 100% based on my gf's experience.
Based on the awesome yelp reviews, the gf decided to give Alisha a try. She called in and was not able to schedule an appointment until 2 months later. It was worth the wait... Alisha was super nice and sweet. She gave the gf tons of tips on skin care and carried on intriging conversations throughout the session to keep her entertained.
I am not much of a expert on facial but the gf came out of it smiling and satisfied. -1 star, she said, for the distance (we live in the SJ area) and for the time it takes to schedule an appointment.

My first visit was AMAZING. She's very nice, good at explaining things, and she just has the magic touch. Unfortunately, I had to move back to SoCal so I'm not in the area anymore. I seriously consider moving back up to SF just so I can see Alisha. I really want to make a trip back up there every 3 months or so.. she's that good--worth the 1 hr flight/6 hour drive.
I'm still hopping around LA trying to find someone just as knowledgeable as Alisha and it's SO HARD. I was supposed to go to my 2nd appointment but I ended up with food poisoning and couldn't make it. Since then I haven't received a call back but I'm not even in the area so it's understandable. Maybe one day she'll up and move down to LA (a girl can dream). Cherish her, SF!
Update: They now have a 48 hour call-back policy. It's so amazing how she is still working on making it better/easier for us when she's already so busy. That is what I call great customer service. -

A facial that gets RESULTS, as opposed to a facial that relaxes, is exactly what Alisha delivers.
Her signature facial is an incredible deal, considering she shaves your face, does microdermabrasion, extraction, eyebrow pluck, and brow and lash tint AND a chemical peel.
Absolutely worth the 3 month wait; once you get in, you don't need to go more often than that anyway. My skin, partly due to her amazing facials and the skin care regimen she prescribed, is way clearer than it's ever been.
Plus, she's nice, personable, and she even sends you a thank you note in the mail. Not sure what more one could ask for out of a skin care experience. -

Nodding my head like YEAH!
Shame on me for nursing a crippling addiction to fantasy football, as I should have written this positively glowing review months ago. These enthusiastic 5 STARS are so incredibly well deserved, and if Yelp allowed more than 5, I would give all I could. Alisha truly is one of a kind.
Football aside, I did want to have a couple visits under my belt so I could give a well educated review, and I just can't say more about Alisha. My first impression of her is still so vivid, "Wow, she is so much younger than I expected!" I was impressed at the business she's built for herself and her expertise... momentarily I felt guilty for not having done more in my life. Alisha is a living example of the beauty she creates, and come to find out she's a handful of years older than me. I would never have guessed, and I'm told I look fairly young for my age. She gives me something to aspire to!
My skin is always best right after seeing Alisha, and I can't wait to go back. My absolute favorite part of my time with Alisha is when she scrapes the peach fuzz off my face; you can just feel the dead skin coming off... sorry sounds nasty, but you have it too. She tints my blonde eyelashes and brows, and wow- what a difference that makes!
Alisha is nothing but utterly dedicated, she goes above and beyond in every way, works hard and her days are long and packed; it's enough to exhaust the best of us- but whether it does her, you and I will never know- she always looks like she just returned from a stress-free Maui vacation. Alisha has a packed schedule for a reason, and the consistent 5 STARS speak for themselves. Somehow she finds time for to make the extra touches- the handwritten note, emails checking in. I have no idea how she finds the time, as she can book out for months at a time, but trust the stars... Alisha is worth any wait.
In spite of being in such high demand, you never feel rushed, she really takes her time with you and sincerely cares about your progress. She makes you care, because you can't possibly let someone else care so much about your skin and progress and not try your best to hold up your end of the program. All it really takes is one look at her and you're on board, a believer. Alisha is hands-down the best endorsement of her expertise and time-tested, beautiful results, yet she considers her clients to be her own walking advertisements and the effort shows.
I will fully admit if her schedule permitted, I would be a full-blown ALISHADDICT! Trust me, once you experience her flair for face beautification, you'll be looking for a 12-step meeting of your own.
On second thought, who needs 12-steps when you can wash, tone and beautify in a simple 3-step program endorsed by Alisha? -

They misspelled "medical aesthetician." It should read M-I-R-A-C-L-E W-O-R-K-E-R. I suffered a severe life threatening infection in my face, which left my face scarred, and plagued with horrible irritation and acne. I had been seeing dermatologists for over three years to treat it. Their solutions always involved heavy antibiotics, harsh face treatments and yielded little to no results. I used to be a person who wore little to no makeup, but could no longer leave the house without heavy foundation because I was so uncomfortable with how my face looked. After compromising my immune system and still suffering from scarring and irritated skin I said, ENOUGH! I threw away all my pills and went to see Alisha.
After one visit my skin was vastly better, after a month on her home care regimen I saw more results than I'd seen in the three years I'd been visiting dermatologists. It's been four months now and a significant amount of my scarring has been reduced (including where they had to cut my face open in the hospital) and most of my irritation is gone.
I look forward to visiting her again for my birthday. The attention to detail and concern for you to see improvement is extremely apparent. Things I never considered like tinting my eyelashes are complimentary. I am a mascara junkie and after she tinted my lashes I found myself wearing mascara less and less.
At my last visit I couldn't stop staring at the before and after photos of my face. In just one visit it was night and day. I highly recommend her for problem skin. She saved mine! -

Shortly after posting my initial review of Alisha, she contacted me and was genuinely apologetic about my experience. She was soooo sweet and wanted to make it up. But by her calling and addressing this issue showed me that she really cared about her client's level of satisfaction and that was enough for me to change my mind about her business.
I think Alisha's services are most likely beyond satisfactory with all clients and mine was definitely an isolated incident. I truly appreciate the exemplary customer service and will give her another try as soon as I can find the time. But for now, she's a five star for her effort, kindness and sincerity.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I love how clean Alisha's office is. She insists on doing some crazy UV/ammonia cleaning between appointments, so I don't get any gross germs on my handbag or more importantly, me! LOVE IT.
It's practically impossible to get an appointment with Alisha for good reason. I waited 6 months before getting an appointment, but it was well worth the wait. Upon meeting Alisha, you'll see her skin is absolutely milky white perfection. It's like the woman sleeps in a tupperware!
All you know is that you want to do whatever this woman is doing! Most of it's crazy talk.... no sugar, no alcohol, no meat, no sun, SPF every hour, even indoors! You quickly realize this woman DOES indeed live in a tupperware.
We all can't live life in a bubble, but Alisha did impart invaluable skincare tips that I could integrate into my routine and my skin has never looked better! The micro skin scraping technique described in other reviews truly is as great as told -- your face is absolutely glowing when you leave the appointment. -

My mother was right. She always is.
Wear sunscreen. I really hope as I get older I start to digest her words of wisdom a bit faster...
I've been blessed to have a father as a doctor, but once I turned 25, it was time to say goodbye to the family insurance plan and start taking an active role in my health.
Similar to my hunt for a new dentist, I turned to my good friends on Yelp and found Alisha. When you see the solid red stripe of 5 stars, you know you've found a winner.
Alisha, despite her ridiculously busy schedule was so generous to accommodate me and my work schedule. I was so thankful.
Once I arrived, I was greeted by her, and I was blown away at just how calm and caring she is. You can tell she takes great pride in her office, and her career and it shows in every aspect of her company.
As I said before, I haven't been so great on taking care of myself, but Alisha reassured me that everything would be ok, and not only worked her magic on my health, but most importantly, put my mind at ease. ( That is NOT an easy thing to do... )
She was informative, guided me through next steps, and was just a delight.
What really stood out for me, was what happened the next day. Unfortunately I was in a meeting, but she left me a voicemail to make sure that everything was ok, and when I got home I had a 'Thank You' card from her!
WOW. It's not very often you see people take the extra step to make sure a client is taken care of, and Alisha takes leaps and bounds to ensure everything's all good.
I'm hooked, and I can tell you, I am FOR SURE, wearing sunblock everyday. -

I met with Alisha for a consultation a few weeks back and I have to say she is one of the sweetest unpretentious person I've met. After examining my skin, she gave me tips on how to prevent future breakouts and after following her instructions, my skin is smooth and bump free. She even helped me out with my keratosis pilaris problemo.
The office is welcoming and serene amongst the hustle around union square. Walked away with a ton of samples (love the SPF). Even if you don't get a facial from her, you'll walk away informed about your skin and how to keep it youthful. -

I went to Alisha in hopes that she'd be able to help me manage my stubborn acne and the subsequent scaring associated with such an annoying condition.
She went above and beyond my expectations.
I've been through accutane TWICE, and have had more than my fair share of dermatologist and no drug or service has affected my skin more in the positive than two session with this amazingly warm and knowledgeable woman.
Before a treatment, she carefully listens to your concerns and skin history, taking notes and photos to chart your progress. I get her Signature Treatment, which starts with dermaplanning, extractions (which she is meticulous at...she even checks the ears), and a few other tricks that always leave my skin smoother, brighter, and with less visible scaring. I wish I can post the before and after photos.
Anyway, I can go on and on about how great the actually treatment was and how the skincare plan she devised for me has changed my skin. But the real icing on the cake is in the details. The eyebrow grooming and tinting, the relaxing nature of her office, the fact that she has the foresight to apply makeup for you before you leave the retreat of Medical Skin Aesthetics for the bustling streets below. She's thought not only about the treatments but her clients receiving them.
And she's got great music taste :) -

Words cannot express how thankful I am to Alisha Valverde for giving me noticeable eyelashes! The eyelash extension procedure took about 2 hours but she made sure I walked out of there with every lash extended. It may seem like it's expensive and high maintenance but I'm not known for punctuality and believe me, these save a ton of time! And not to mentions possibly many lives since there will be one less Asian female driving and applying mascara at the same time, which justifies that it's a win-win situation for all!

I sought Alisha's help with my skin after listening for years to my mother's laments on my emerging wrinkles and supposed sun-spots (according to her, I was turning into a poor wrinkly old hag before my time!!)
Alisha make me feel at ease immediately with her kind words about my skin not being as horrible as my mother had made me believe, and proceeded to give me a truly therapeutic and relaxing facial. What I loved the best about the facial was that it was customized just for my skin. She examined my skin thorouhgly, then explained what she was doing and why, which I was grateful for because I am quite a novice at this.
She also took her time to explain to me how to take care of my skin at the end of the appointment, what products I shouldn't go without (sunscreen, duh!!) I left her office feeling like that was the best 2 hours spent learning a ton about my skin and feeling like I was treated like a queen in the process.
It is now 2 weeks later, and I still have that soft radiant skin that I left Alisha's office with. I have not had such beautiful skin since I was 14! I am not even wearing foundations anymore because my skin tone now is sooo even, not splotchy. Even my critical mother noticed and approved!! I am going back to see Alisha in 2 months, and I simply can't wait. -

Before I met Alisha (via yelp, thanks yelp!) I've tried everything, but there was never a sign of improvement, sometimes my skin actually felt worst. I had a lot of blemishes and stubborn reoccurring acne, that seemed to be coming up at the same places...which left scars.
On my first consultation with her we went over all of my skin history, concerns and goals, she took pictures and examined my face. I actually planned on getting her signature treatment that day, but she recommended on holding out and trying her products for a couple of weeks and then coming back. At first i was disappointed, I had really looked forward to getting a treatment (i was having a shitty month and figured a facial would do me good). I decided to hold off and was very glad i did in the end, it saved me money and also time to use the products to see if my skin would be irritated or not. Eventually I started seeing improvements, less and less pimples, smaller pores, and my blemishes and scars seem to be fading slightly.
I remember on one of my appointments, my skin was acting up a bit (drier than usual and quite sensitive), She told me that my skin was too sensitive to work on properly, that if i really wanted to get the facial she would do it but it wouldn't be to my skins advantage since it was dry/irritated, i was bummed but it was a good call so we rescheduled my appt. It was really honest and sweet of her to advise me to hold out on the facial, she could have charged me for the facial and the new products, but she didn't. She recommended a different product that would be more gentle on my skin, as well as the "miracle cream" (Barrier Replenishing concentrated cream,by Young) for my dry patches. I absolutely love this product, a small amount turns dry skin into replenished and happy-skin!
The Treatments are on the pricier side, but you are paying for results, and I personally believe that you owe it to yourself and your face to give it the best products/treatments possible.
Alisha is very thorough/knowledgeable and wants the best for her clients, she really does care for you and she is super-sweet. She's a one-woman miracle working show so her schedule gets packed, we're talking months, but because she's so sweet she'll try to fit you in earlier if need be. Her place reminds me of the ocean-side, tranquil and relaxing, and I love her music selection, I fall asleep every time!
Two years strong and face looking absolutely amazing then before, Thanks Alisha!! see you in June!! -

Ok, I'm now an official Alisha fan too!
I'm really glad I had the opportunity to see Alisha. She is by far the most attentive and caring aesthetician I've had. She works with you to find a very personalized treatment for your skin during the appointment and after you leave her office. You can tell she truly cares about her clients. How do I know this? She called me the day after my appointment to see how my skin was doing! Who does that nowadays?
After seeing Alisha, those weird bumps on my face have noticeably subsided, and my skin looks fresher and smoother overall. She was so thorough in clearing those nasty blackheads and explained everything thoroughly. She also shaped and tinted my eyebrows which look GREAT! Ladies (and guys), Alisha books up fast, so make your appointment soon!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Alisha Valverde Skincare is not your typical spa and the facial is certainly not a typical facial - it is an amazing, i can't believe my skin is looking so clear and radiant kind of facial.
The process of getting an appointment at this place is another story. This is the most frustrating part but if you can be patient for a few weeks/months, you will be really happy with the results.
I called Alisha Skincare in the last week of January and after playing phone tag for about a week, I got to speak with Alisha, who told me that the next available appointment is in May. My first reaction was bewilderment and then annoyance. I can even get an appointment with my gynecologist sooner than that. :-( So I was put on a cancellation list.
After a few weeks I got a call from Alisha, she can fit me in. Yay! Once I get to her office/spa, I realized why its so difficult to speak to Alisha over the phone and why its so difficult to make an appointment. Alisha Valverde Skincare is a small business that Alisha runs. She is the only esthetician and also she is the manager of this place. The place itself is very clean and tasteful but small. There is no receptionist to greet you at the door, instead you ring the bell or make some noise and then Alisha comes outside and hands you some paperwork to fill out. Alisha does have an assistant but Alisha is the only one who does the facials and also the only one who makes the appointments.
The facial itself is perfect. This is not one of those facials with a face massage and endless number of face masks. Instead, Alisha talks to you about your goals and puts together a facial and long term skin care plan customized to you.
I think the process of making an appointment was really frustrating and the only con with this otherwise fantastic place. Overall I think that the pros - personalized service, amazing facial, tinted eyelashes, perfect eyebrow design and fun conversation (btw - Alisha is very intelligent and fun to talk to) etc far out weigh the frustrating experience of making an appointment.
Thanks Alisha! -

8/7/07: Alrighttyy I can finally give Alisha her well deserved 5 stars now that I finally made it in to see her! Her touch is to die for. I am back to my gorgeous self thanks to my favorite esthetician!
I have never been to MedEsthetics, but I am a former client of Alisha Valverde (see my Epi Center Med Spa review) and I love her! She is the reason I am an Aesthetician. Wherever she goes pleased clients are soon to follow! -

Alisha is my skin Guru!!
Wow, this is what facials should be. I have had my share of facials before, and always considered them a nice experience, but never had one completely changed my skin - until now.
I have been to Alisha 3 times now and my skin is better than ever. She took a picture the first time I went in, and when I compare it to the current picture, it blows my socks off. There has been a drastic change in color, texture and suppleness.
She is incredibly nice and professional and I believe she could charge way more for her services. But she doesn't and she totally spends her time with you. The fact that she throws in eyelash and brow tinting and shaping is fantastic. She also puts some makeup on you so you don't have to walk out all red after peels, very nice touch.
I will go every other month FOREVER. -

I originally came here to remove milia but ended up with a facial experience that really helped my skin look more refreshed and cleaner than ever. Although most of my milia weren't removed due to my sensitivity and other medical factors, Alisha was kind enough not to charge me for a full session and referred me to a great dermatologist.
Alisha seemed a little rushed due to a scheduling mistake. Despite that-- she cleaned up my pores, removed fuzz from my face, contoured my eyebrows, exfoliated my dry lips, and gave me a chemical peel on my face, neck, and back of my hands. She was very careful about not using latex (which I am allergic to) on me.
Alisha's positive attitude, enthusiasm for her work, and desire to please her clients really show. I think women bring a certain kind of compassion to this kind of image-driven business. Alisha will make you feel like her best gal pal. How great is that? Thanks Alisha. -

I'm convinced. Alisha Valverde is the best aesthetician in the Bay Area. Hands down.
The first time I went to Alisha I got lash extensions for my wedding. I've gotten my eyelashes done before and was happy with the results but they were not nearly as thorough as Alisha. My eyelashes are already very dark but Alisha tinted them to make sure they matched the extensions exactly. She then painstakingly applies the extensions one by one to the root of your lashes. She is so concentrated and careful. In the end they were so beautiful and so realistic that I did not have to wear mascara on my wedding day...seriously. And when I started tearing up during the ceremony I was confidant that I would not have racoon eyes.
Next I tried a facial with Alisha. I haven't gotten a facial by anyone else since. She is so thorough and careful that nobody else can measure up. She begins by making you very comfortable. Then together you discuss your skin history, problem areas, skin routine and any prior treatments. Alisha listens carefully and tailors your facial to meet your specific needs. For me she does dermaplaning where she uses a surgical grade scalpal to remove the outer most layers of dead skin cells and facial fur. After the planing alone my skin feels greatly improved -- softer and smoother. Then she uses a peel to get deep into your pores and clean out any impurities. She finishes with a moisturizing treatment which I believe includes applying sunblock.
One of the things that makes Alisha's treatments so special is the level of care and attentiveness. Alisha even cleans up your eyebrows and any little nose hairs. Another reviewer talked about her getting a blackhead out of her ear. Well, apparently that's common because I had one too which my husband had been unsuccessful at extracting. Alisha quickly and painlessly got it out for me.
So if you think you've had a good facial before, you ought to go see Alisha. But fair warning, she'll spoil you! -

I've continued to see Alisha and, despite being very busy, she continues to make a visit efficient, comprehensive and very pleasant. Like I said in a previous review, I never saw myself as the kind of guy who gets facials, but I've gotten a lot out of the experience of visiting her in terms of how my skin looks and it's kept me coming back.
She's obsessed with keeping clients happy and runs a very nice business.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I went to Alisha for eyelash extensions for my wedding in 2007 and, not only had a wonderful experience, but also had fantastic results. While I couldn't afford to maintain the eyelashes, I totally would have if I could have because they looked awesome and pretty natural.
During my visit, Alisha also offered some skincare advice and gave me samples of products that would work well for my skin. And, after reading all the great reviews of her facials, I think I need to come back and try one! -

Alisha is the best!!! I went to her in Feb 2008 for a microdermabrasion. Once there, Alisha told me that instead of doing a microdermabrasion, she thought it would be best that she started me on Obagi. She said that in my case, she believed that Obagi would provide better results at a portion of the cost. At first, I was disappointed. I was unhappy with my skin and I wanted to do something immediately but, after going through a couple of weeks of hell (Obagi causes reddening and peeling of the skin at first -- something Alisha warned me about), my skin started to DRAMATICALLY improve.
Unfortunately, I moved to Texas shortly after visiting Alisha so I couldn't come and see her again. I tried to arrange one appointment during a planned visit to Sacramento but realized that my stay in Sacramento would be too short to warrant a visit to San Francisco too. Thus, I had to cancel (boo hoo!!!).
However, even though I won't be able to see Alisha again, I wanted to let all of Yelp know how great she is. She was honest with her opinion and tailored a regimen that met MY skin needs. Alisha took a pic of my face when she saw me and I wish I could send her a pic of my face now. Unfortunately, the camera I have is not as good as the one she used (she used a camera that had a blinding flash and was so detailed, you could see every pore!) but one of these days, I'd like to make it back to Alisha so she can get her before and after shot. I mean the improvements was spectacular! Thank you Alisha!!! -

I just had an appointment this past week with Alisha, and I forgot how great she always has left my skin after a visit- I told myself, I needed to let everyone know how freakin good my face feels!!! I'm the kind of person who seems to hop around from one place to another, not truly being completely happy with the service- but, I must admit - Alisha truly works it and she is the BEST in the business! =]
I've seen Alisha a few times already within the past 7 months or so, and everytime I see her I feel its worth every penny! As much of a busy bee she is, she truly does care and really takes her time- the girl knows her stuff, too.
She always makes sure to provide the best treatment for your skin everytime, be it summertime or winter. I dont have acne, I pretty much just go for my huge pores and maintenance. I have super sensitive skin, and she always uses and suggests the perfect cleansers and moisturizers. She also has helped point out what I've been doing wrong with my routine, and I've managed to minimize my pores-I love it! Oh, and she does a fantastic job at cleaning up my brows, too! -

AMAZING. One trip to Alisha and my skin is already looking better. She is so friendly and professional and the office is beautiful and comfortable. But most importantly, she is the best in the business! You might have to wait a while to get a spot but my oh my is it worth the wait.

Went to Alisha per Yelp's recommendations. Had to wait two months to see her, but it was absolutely worth it. My skin is looking the best it ever has for over five years, and I couldn't be happier. I found her to be very calming, personable, and professional. She gave me some great advice on how to care for my skin at home, and carries some of the finest products for skin care available.
I read that some people found the extractions to be a little painful. That was not my experience. Alisha was very gentle, and her office was extremely clean and relaxing. I had never heard of brow and lash tinting before, and found it to be a really nice tough to the facial!
If you are looking for a facial that gets results, see Alisha Valverde. She is the best in the city and is fabulous! -

I would have to echo the other reviews here. I've been to Alicia 3 times now, and appreciate the customized skin care. This past visit included before and after pictures of my skin in between treatments, and I could really see some difference after only 3 months.
Plus, she is so warm and always professional. And, very reasonably priced. I'm a happy customer!! -

Go for the lashes, STAY for the facial.
I rarely have breakouts anymore. My skin tone has evened out and brightened. With the lashes and improved skin, I've cut my morning routine by 75%.
The pricer salons in the same real estate charge separately for all the things Alisha will take care of in one appointment as part of her exemplary service.
I won't pass out her business cards because it's so hard to book appointments with her. Once you see her, you'll never go anywhere else! I've already booked my appointments through next year.
