Go for the doubles on the weekend and don't forget to request extra hot sauce! Had the delicious doubles and a goat roti (bones don't bother me). Just wish they were in Cambridge, too, but that makes it all the more of a splurge. Wonderful people serving there, and just a few booths, so consider carry out if you can make it out the door without unwrapping your double from the twisted wax paper and stuffing it in your mouth--I dare you! Delicious stuff.

I heart roti. I heart goat(s) both to pet and to eat.
Ordered a chix roti, and a goat/rice & peas dish.
Ali's roti was alright, I wouldn't kick it out of bed, but I wouldn't invite it home to meet the parent either. I think that the roti and I just didn't make a love connection- this is peculiar because again, I heart roti.
The goat was fantastic. Every forkful of goat-cabbage-rice & peas made me want more. In fact, I'm going to go get some leftovers out of the fridge right now. I think that I could taste how cute it was. -

I haven't had Ali's roti in about 15 years and it is just as spectacular as I remembered. Me and the family were in MA for the weekend and there was no way I was leaving w/o a chicken roti. We got chicken, shrimp and kingfish. Each one weighed 5-lbs and the taste was off-the chain. Still amazing!

Take a note from the page of Bake's & Things in Brooklyn & offer a boneless goat roti. Easy with all the bones. Best Roti in Boston.

One word: delicious!
I don't get to visit this shop often, unfortunately but it is always a treat, when I do. I love the potato roti. But they have a whole array of other dishes. And it is quite affordable.
I had to provide a dish for a potluck once (February '08); I went in the day before, got a discount and the food (stewed chicken) was ready the next day, on time - steaming hot and delicious! It was a hit. -

seeked out Ali's to try the goat roti. It was good but not what I remember from Malawi Africa. Must be a different breed. Always like a restaurant where you can watch the cooks. Ali's cooks are very efficient. We ate in at the plastic booths, ala MacDonalds, but most of their business is take-out to the locals, a good sign. Overall , well worth 4 stars.

Not my favorite west indian location (though they are few and far between in Boston) but if you are nearby, stop in for doubles. They tend to only make them on the weekends. A great treat!

After living in Grenada for 2 years I became addicted to chicken dhalpuri roti. Ali's has a delicious dhalpuri roti skin and he fills it with flavorful curry chicken, potatoes, and all the hot sauce you can tolerate! It was almost closing time when I picked up my caribbean feast and was given some roti skins to take home too! Been making curry chicken all week because I just can't get enough! Ali's has my 5 stars!

I finally made it here tonight after driving by a number of times. After getting by panhandlers outside, stepping over kids playing on the floor, and being told that they didn't have any goat (very disappointing), I left with an absolutely delicious chicken roti that was bigger than my head. I got it to go since the panhandler had migrated inside to try to trade an unopened pack of generic cigarettes for something unintelligible.

Went today haven't had a roti in years and they didn't disappoint! And what's nice is all the food is ready to go no waiting around... I haven't been to this area for years and hope to get back here soon asap.

I think this location of Ali's is the best. Right at Blue Hill Ave and Morton, just double park the car and run on in. My favorite is the shrimp roti with extra steamed vegetables and pepper sauce. For about $6-$8 you'll get two meals out of these bad boys. If you're not familiar with rotis, they are a Caribbean "burrito" made with naan-like Indian flatbread and curried meat and vegetables, usually goat, beef, shrimp, fish or chicken.

I have never been to a west indes place before, so trying this type of food was quite a treat. The menu is very simple - meat, fish, or vegetarian. I got the veggie plate. You can get the veggies rolled up inside the roti but that can be messy, also you have 5 types of veggies that trying each one by dipping your roti is the best way to go. My plate was around $8 but for lunch it was dinner size portions. The place is very bare bones for seating so take -out is also a good idea.

Had Ali's roti last night it was delish and the cream soda to wash it all down was satisfying,The only thing that was getting to me is why it was falling apart in my lap kinda too much sauce i think thats what the lesser 4 star is for but other then that they have great Rotis as well and i love the hot sauce its really really HOT....

I LOVE this place! Gigantic rotis filled with all sorts of tasty meats and vegetables - It usually takes me 2 or 3 sittings to get through one. They have lots of veggie options (chick peas, potatoes, cabbage, green beans, pumpkin), which is great for me since I'm not that into meat. They seem to run out of fillings later in the day, so I've had a couple disappointments when I've gone right before closing.

I am giving it a five for the Roti.Everytime my family comes to boston, we pick up about ten Roti skins or meals. Considering how far I have to drive, it's worth it. Do I eat there, the answer is no , there is seating available, but parking is just so that you can run in and out. Also the environment is not one where you would want to sit and savor my favorite dish

doesn't hurt that i know the owners but seriously to get authentic west indian food this good for this price is ridiculous. get whatever's freshest made. don't be afraid to try the oxtail, goat or other "exotic" meats - they really aren't so exotic and they're slow cooked until they're amazingly tender. also make sure you get all the special sauces on the side- all unique and worth trying.

I must agree with the others. This location of Ali's Roti is the best! I love going there for the curry and roti. I personally think Trinidadians make the best curry and Jamaicans make the best oxtail. I either get the regular roti with boneless curry chicken or get the buss-up shot roti with curry goat, pumpkin, channa and veggies. I personally enjoy the buss-up shot more when that meat has bones, plus I find it to be softer than the regular roti skin. The pelau (sort of like arroz con pollo) is to die for. I just wish they had doubles. I love Ali's because their ingredients are fresh and tasty. Be prepared to be flexible, as with many West Indian establishments they may run out of certain things sometimes. Try something new, everything there is tasty. They also have the pepper sauce on the side if you like to heat things up. Ali's has the best Trini food in and around Boston.
