I apologize for not having reviewed the place before! What was I thinking?

Been here many, many times and loved it every time.  Excellent service, fabulous food, and to top it off it is in a gorgeous old Victorian building. I tend to get basic ravioli which I loved.....so can't speak widely of variety because I just like what I like.

They serve breakfast, too.....just don't expect that to be Italian because breakfast foods are generally not Italian.

Always a pleasure, and my first choice on where to go and eat when in the Monterey area.

    Reasonably priced

    Great selection

    Fast, friendly service.

    Substitutions are fine

    Cant' ask for anything more!

They accommodated our group well, separate checks were fine as long as we paid cash.  We were in and out pretty quickly.

Trying to find a regular spot for brunches, and this place looks like it could be it.

Stopped in for lunch based on the reviews.  Guess we were at a different restaurant than most who posted here.  The menu was really basic and if  you didn't know better you would never believe this is an "Italian" restaurant.  Not even one pasta dish on the lunch menu.  The food was bland, but mostly edible.  I had the quiche with a salad and asked for french bread instead of fries.  The waitress asked if I wanted toast or what kind of bread because they only have sandwich bread.  Huh?  You have no decent bread at an "Italian" restaurant?  The quiche was fairly good, but the salad had no blue cheese flavor in the dressing and the warm, soggy sandwich bread didn't really cut it.  We also tried the eggplant dish - soggy, tasteless and unseasoned.

Oh, and don't even try to use the restrooms.  Major health hazard and code violations.  The men's room is so small that you have to levitate up to the ceiling to close the door.  I found it pretty funny that they have a rail installed for someone that is disabled, but there is absolutely no way to get in the room and close the door, so I guess the rail is just for decoration...

There are too many decent options in PG to give this place another try.

We were in town for a vacation and happened to pass by the Victorian Corner. The restaurant looked so charming and the guests inside seemed to be enjoying themselves, so we decided to stop in for lunch. The food was delicious, and it was served quickly.  Our sandwhiches were full of fresh ingredients served in warm homemade bread.  The accompanying potato salad was fresh and delicious.  Our waitress checked on us frequently, and we had a lovely conversation with one of the owners.  She seemed genuinely interested in us and our experience.  It was a real treat to be served such fresh food in a charming location by staff who were clearly committed to the overall experience of their customers.  Next time we're in town we will be excited to pay another visit to the Victorian Corner.

This family run restaurant is simply a wonderful place to have breakfast or lunch.  The servers are friendly and efficient.  The prices are reasonable and portion size is just right.  The blood orange juice for breakfast (when available) is a must have!  I liked the eggs benedict and my girl liked the Eggs Florentine.  Sharing is caring, right?

I have lived in Pacific Grove for two years, and this is the equivalent of my "Cheers." The owners are more like family to me than just owners. The waitstaff remembers every single thing I like, and ask me if I want my hash browns "crispy" or my bacon "extra extra extra crispy" before I even mention it. There is a cup of green tea practically waiting for me when I walk in the door. They never flinch when I ask for mushrooms added to whatever, or to hold the sauce. They are simply the finest example of restaurateurs anywhere. It has become our number one 'go to' restaurant on the Peninsula because we are treated so well and provided service like I have never seen anywhere else. They are always genuinely interested in how I am, and we share family stories. Huge hugs and thumbs up to Mary and Dominic, Trisha and Paul, Gina, Brittany, and Rose, and the chefs. Victorian Corner is pure love - it will wrap its arms around you and never let go.

ps. I thought I had written a review and submitted it about a year ago, but don't see it here. I'm happy to offer this review much later, having had many more wonderful meals there.

Aliotti's Victorian Corner is kind of a middle of the road experience.  They have a number of dishes with a Sicialian sort of background, along with quiches and other basics.  The dishes are pretty elementary-not bad but nothing to get really excited about.  The setting is kind of neat in this old Victorian across from the old Holman's department store.  Prices are ok as is the service.  Just nothing unique that would qualify it as a 4 star in my humble opinion.

During our recent weekend stay in Pacific Grove, we drove past and decided this place looked cute, so we stopped in on Sunday for brunch.

Atmosphere is lovely and charming.  Very authentic Victorian decor, and you feel like you're hanging out in Smalltown, USA.

Food was terrific.  We both got the pancake combo with buttermilk pancakes and eggs and bacon.  Made fresh to order and the pancakes were super yummy.  Great coffee too (and I'm a coffee snob!)

Service was good - after the second waitress took over.  Unfortunately, our first waitress had little to no personality.  No eye contact, or greeting, or smile, or anything other than "You ready to order?"  Every time she came by to refill our coffee, I would thank her and she would say nothing.  Then we got another waitress (maybe the first one went on break?)  She was a lot more pleasant and was very cheerful when I asked if I could switch the buckwheat pancakes I ordered for the buttermilk my husband had (his tasted better).  She took care of it quickly and without any drama, and I really appreciated that.

Would definitely recommend for good food and sweet atmosphere.

I haven't eaten here in many years.  I went to a group luncheon, and this was the chosen place.  I ordered the Spinach Quiche, which came with a side salad and fries for $9.95.  Quiche and fries seemed like a really odd combo to me, but hey-- fries are one of my guilty pleasures. The Quiche was good, albeit the crust was a bit over baked and dry. The flavor was good, though.  The salad was a pleasant surprise, perfectly dressed with an delicious Italian vinaigrette.  The fries were quite good, too.  The Ruben looked delicious, and I might order that next time.  My friend's Oriental Chicken salad wasn't the best thing, though.  The dressing was a tad sweet, though I liked the ginger flavor.  It just wasn't anything special.  I rarely find myself in Pacific Grove on a weekend morning, but I just might have to try a special trip here for breakfast. I've been told that they do a great job.

After trying Aliotti's Victorian Corner, I must say I was a bit puzzled by why there were so many 4+ star reviews. Was the food inedible? No, but was it something 4 star worthy? No

I ordered the Meatball Sandwich: homemade meatballs served on a French Roll with melted jack cheese and homemade marinara sauce. My friend ordered the French Dip: tender sliced roast beef served warm on a French roll served with au jus for dipping. Includes French fries.

I'm not sure if I had high expectations or I was in a mood but I found the entire experience to be a tad lackluster.  I get that its simple food but it doesn't mean it has to be simple in flavor. I found myself so bored with the dish that I ended up eating barely half and had to take the rest home. Once I got home, I tweaked the dish a bit with just a splash of herbs which really helped to brighten up the sandwich.

Side note * I ordered coffee and was served with a lipstick mark on my cup. While they did replace it, I wish they had better attention to details.

    Overall Thoughts

Food just didn't deliver, service was hit and miss

Our party of 4 was probably not what Aliotti's would have picked as the "ideal customers" -- family of 4, 2 kids (7 & 10), and waltzing in a half hour before closing time, armed with a discount coupon.  We had also read here on Yelp a fairly negative review on a dinner service just 2-3 weeks earlier where another diner had talked about bland food.  So we walk in, and immediately, I mentioned to our server, a congenial young lady named Gina, that we wanted to make sure the food had some taste!  In good humor, she told us not to worry, that everything would be tasty and spiced appropriately.

My wife and I ordered two veal dishes, Piccata for her, Marsala for me, our 7 year old ordered the kids Spaghetti w/ Meat Ball, and our 10 year old requested yet another possibly unreasonable request - buttermilk pancake and hash-brown potatoes for dinner at 8:30 p.m.  Gina smiled and spoke directly to our daughter, "I'm sure Domenic will be happy to do that for you."

45 minutes later, we were completely satisfied diners...and the veal dishes were a couple of the best veal dishes we've had anywhere.  Additionally, the clam chowder and vegetable soup were also fantastic.  The veal was clearly of good quality, and not anything like you'd get at a run-of-the-mill Italian restaurant that served 10 breaded Parms to any other "real" veal preparations.  This veal was the real thing!  My Marsala had that fantastic robust flavor, while my wife's Piccata had just enough smooth 'tang' from the right amount of capers.  Not knowing how these dishes are really prepared, my descriptions cannot do the dishes justice; they were perfect!

What I didn't mention was the morning before, we had eaten breakfast here (hence, my older daughter's fixation on the 'best pancakes she had ever had'!).  I had also had an incredible Eggs Benedict.

So all told, I would give Aliotti's 10 stars for our 2 visits in 2 days!!  AN extra bonus was that we could walk to this wonderful Victorian from our vacation rental in a quiet neighborhood just to the Monterey side of downtown Pacific Grove.  Do NOT hesitate to dine at Aliotti's for any meal!!

The GF and I decided to eat in PG before catching a movie.  The choices are less broad than I would like and slightly higher in price point than I would prefer.  However, I had been to the Victorian Corner for breakfast before and was pleased, so I thought dinner might be okay.

Okay, it was.  Really, supremely mediocre.

It is pleasant enough and the service is attentive.  We were greeted right away and prompted for drinks.

The bread arrived shortly, warm, and deliciously sourdough.

For our meals, we ordered a Chicken Monterey and an Eggplant Parmigiana.  The salad that came with the Eggplant was tasty fresh with dressing mixed in but not saturating the greens.  The clam chowder was enjoyed by the GF who sensed a tang in it.  It definitely tasted more clammy (good!) than creamy or potatoey.  All good.

The food took a bit longer than expected.

The main course, however, were both lackluster.  The Monterey Chicken lacked flavor and was deemed as "fancy coffee shop" style food.

My eggplant parmigiana had a tomato sauce so devoid of flavor I wondered how it could come from an Italian family.  The sides were pasta and steamed vegetables with nothing on them.  In general, the items lacked flavor.

We decided that the restaurant must cater more to the local retired set who might enjoy less spiced food.  For dinner, I would not recommend this restaurant, unless you enjoy relatively bland food.

Charming neighborhood place that's good for brunch. I've been here a couple of times for breakfast/lunch with visitors before heading to the aquarium and other sights on that side of town. The food is solid; last time I had the french toast, which has a unique orange flavored twist to it. The restaurant has the atmosphere of a neighborhood cafe. It can get a bit crowded, especially on weekends. Be prepared for a bit of a wait during the brunch rush, and service slows a tad when all tables are taken.

This place gets four stars. Not for the butternut squash ravioli, freshly made, nor the steak and ginormously ginormous potato. The wine list was nothing to write home about...really, don't write home about it, it was kinda lame (stick with the local wines to find the values). No, what made this place was the homemade chocolate creme brulle, made just a few hours before, with berries on top.

You had me at fresh raspberry in crunchy chocolately goo...

Quaint little place favoured by the much older residents who tend to scowl at tourists.  We stopped by while staying down the road and had breakfast - crab cakes egg benedict and corned beef hash both of which were middle of the road - the cakes were over cooked as were the eggs.  The service, however was pleasant and attentive and the coffee excellent, although I felt badly for the older owner who did must of the running while the help (the son?) spent all the time we were there  schmoozing with one customer.

I have been going to Aliotti's for years and it is by far my favorite restaurant on the peninsula. My parents and I discovered the restaurant when we were on vacation here and made sure to stop in for a meal every time we visited. I am now a resident in Monterey and recommend Aliotti's to anyone visiting the peninsula and even locals.

Besides the magnificent food, the thing that makes dining at Aliotti's such a pleasant experience is the atmosphere and staff. Mary, Dominic, Paul, and the other waitresses offer exquisite service that leaves every customer with a smile. The decor makes you feel at home with many old photos of Pacific Grove and some of the Aliotti family. I love the layout of the furniture and tables. I sometimes forget that I'm at a restaurant. Everyone always receives a warm welcome from the moment they walk in the door. The staff always make sure to connect with the customers and get to know them better making the dining experience comfortable and enjoyable.

Now, on to the food! To say the food is delicious would be an understatement. I don't even need a menu anymore because I always know exactly what I want. Their soups, especially the split pea, are great. They always have a variety of soups available and they always taste wonderfully. The Aliotti's nail their lasagna. I'm still working on my food critic jargon but it's really really really good. Their food doesn't leave you feeling overwhelmed and heavy- they have their dishes perfected leaving the customer's tummy quite satisfied. Fresh bread is always available and make sure to try Mary's creme brulee! I also love the spaghetti/ravioli and their cheese ravioli. Their tiramisu is also to die for. Breakfast at Aliotti's is unforgettable. They serve quite possibly the best quiche in the world. My mom is also a HUGE fan of their raspberry pancakes. My dad is the seafood connoisseur and also goes for anything with salmon or crab which is always undeniable fresh.

I could go on and on about Aliotti's. This restaurant cannot be beat by any other on the Monterey peninsula and is a definite must.

Great American classic food served by a sweet staff.

Brunch was particularly delicious-- their specials included benedicts with a seafood twist-- crab cakes, local smoked salmon, etc.  Their fries were excellent; crispy on the outside and hot, not greasy at all.  yes, it's a standard item, but it's the little details that count.

Family-friendly and laid-back; great place to go for a more casual meal.

Great breakfast the other morning. I'm guessing the waitress calls you "Hon" once you've been in a few times. I probably hadn't eaten there in a decade, but gf & I were seeking Easter morning grub & decided to try. Our timing was perfect, as the more puritanical populace was sitting elsewhere, listening to painfully boring sermons about sin & rebirth. So therefore, *someone* had to be out & about ordering the eggs & helping the economy. We were the willing victims. Gf's spinach, 'shroom & cheese omelette was a work of art, and her hash browns may have been the best ever. (What's the secret ingredient? Let me guess--a whole stick of butter?  (-;  ).  My buckwheat pancakes were a tad dry, but aren't buckwheat pancakes *supposed* to be dry? Good, hearty, filling, properly cooked food. Coffee & mocha good as well. Good service.

My coworkers and I snuck out for brunch at the Victorian Corner last week, after the birthday girl requested we dine here to try "the best hash browns on the Monterey Peninsula." With such high praise, I wasn't sure quite what to expect. Well I'm pleased to say the birthday girl just might have been right--we all agreed the hash browns were quite delicious. We ordered them crispy and they easily outshined any side dishes I've sampled at breakfast joints around the Peninsula.

Besides the hash browns, I ordered the spinach quiche, and was again pleasantly surprised at how good it was. There was a great mix of herbs and cheese to accompany the spinach and egg. The crush was nice and golden, though a little buttery. Paired with golden hash browns, this was a great brunch, and I'll definitely be back.

This is a cute little Victorian cafe/diner. My boyfriend and I came here for brunch. He ordered blueberry waffles which were delish!! I had the norm: two over-easy eggs, sourdough toast, and hash browns. The sourdough bread was cut from a loaf and was thick and goooood for sopping up my egg yolks! YUM! Hash browns were perfect.

We got to sit by the open window and take in the sun while we watched passersby at the festival along the main street.

Awesome service and tasty food. We came here a few years ago during the Moto GP. Loved it then and love it again. I always try the Eggs Benedict for breakfast.  Superb, and I'm pretty picky when it comes to that dish. Not totally drowned in hollandaise sauce. Perfectly prepared. So good. My wife had the Victorian Toast and practically licked the plate clean.

For a good, small town breakfast, this place is awesome. You won't find any tofu scrambles here (or at least none that i saw) but you will find delicious pancakes, all the coffee you can drink, and very friendly service.

Full stack: Good service, cheap prices, lots of parking, great window views onto the main town.

We have eaten at this charming, family owned restaurant  several times over the years.  It's housed in an 1893 vintage building that the family probably owns.  Mama and Papa used to be omnipresent.  This morning Papa was presiding and probably a son and daughter, maybe even grandchildren.  I didn't ask.  One of my great pleasures is watching people walk in and be greeted w/ hugs or handshakes.

DGD wanted have what Alan and I call a CGE (Corrective Granola Experience) after yesterday's mediocre granola.  She'd had it here before and knew it was good.  But then she looked at the menu and saw banana pancakes and something else she she wanted, so it became a matter of internal debate.  She finally stuck w/ the granola and was pleased.  We ordered a bowl of fruit to share and it was fresh, varied and generous, w/ strawberries, slices of banana, chunks of pineapple, watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew and one piece of kiwi, which I was awarded.  Alan and I both ordered crabcake Benedicts, he w/ home fries, me w/ hashbrowns.  I've been feeling under the weather and my appetite has taken a hit, so I only finished one and part of my hashbrowns.  The Benedict was pretty good, although the eggs were poached hard rather than medium or soft and the crabcakes were more full of filler than we like.  It was a pleasant breakfast before heading home, definitely better than yesterday's, though not perfect.  We debated over the number of stars, coming up w/ 3.51.

Everyone else seems to be reviewing breakfast, brunch, or dinner, but their lunch fare is good too!

It's a very nice quiet cafe to drop into for a sandwich and a drink.  They're not going to blow you away with 5-star gourmet stuff, but I'm fine with that.  When I order a sandwich, I don't want shredded arugula or melted Czechoslovakian sheep's milk cheese.  Victorian Corner gives you exactly what you're expecting, and they do it well.

My wife and I went here for dinner based on the strong ratings and kid friendly notation.  I should have read the reviews more closely and I would have seen that the only thing anyone recommended was breakfast and a chicken club sandwich.  Our dinners were less than mediocre.  The clam chowder was just ok.  And the cannoli had maraschino cherries on it... ugh.   Take my advice... PASS!

We visited Monterey and walked into this place for lunch. They still serve breakfast during lunch time. I had a Smoked Salmon eggs Benedict and a Mimosa. Superb!  My boyfriend had a plain hamburger with salad. He eats quite healthy and doesn't eat burger much; he found this burger here went down to him very nicely and didn't weight on him at all. And it was also quite tasty for me the not so healthy eater!

Great brunch place... really enjoyed the eggs benedict with a heavenly hollandaise.  Comfortable and relaxed, the victorian is nice but the breakfast is solid.

Arrived for breakfast about 9:30 on Mother's Day, there wasn't a table open, but immediately the owner came over to greet us and said in five minutes we'd be seated. He wasn't joking we had a wonderful spot in less than that. Very friendly and it just felt like coming home. The service was on the spot..quick, warm and courteous, yet not rushed considering the busy day. The eggs were perfect, blueberry pancakes were awesome, the homemade granola was the bomb-included strawberries, sliced bananas and even a blackberry to top it off. The spinach/mushroom omelet was full of wonderful flavor as well. Loved the wall hangings of the family's history and the overall presence of the establishment. Wish we had more time in the area to try lunch or dinner!
