Saved my cat's life. Best Pet Care Center in all of OC. Very hi-tech and friendly place.

Review from Rohlin A.
Unfortunately our Vet of 10 years is retiring within a year and the search had begun for a new Vet. I visited Alicia Pet Care Center with Chief for an initial consultation and was very impressed. The location and excellent reviews from Yelpers made this my first choice.
The center itself is very upscale and modern, complete with a water feature and flat screen televisions. The staff and Dr. Foreman were very friendly and professional. He explained several treatment plans for a sore Chief was getting at, including laser therapy. He also discussed some treatment options for he arthritis and dysplasia, including stem cell therapy. We elected to do the laser treatments on his sore, after only one treatment the injury has improved and he has stopped getting at it.
The only detractor is the medicine there is expensive, but they do offer matching with 1800petmeds and they will write a prescription for ordering online.
I am pretty sure we have found our new Vet for many years to come. -
Review from Laina A.
The Chiefster's vet was retiring and it was time to start anew. Alas, we found Alicia Pet Care Center and it is practically down the street, a bonus. The entire vet office is beautiful, with a very large wait area, a water feature, plants, plenty of comfortable seating and an aquariam. The somewhat unusual location is in a small strip mall dominated by mostly car repair shops, Hatam Persian cuisine and Quiznos. So parking can be a bitch.
Our new vet is Dr. Neal Forman and my husband said he was great. The initial consult/exam was complimentary and as Borat would say "NICE".
Chief's boo-boo is being fixed with 6 laser treatment sessions. Yep, you heard it right a laser. I can't afford laser therapy as skincare, but Chief can!
The prices are a bit high, but the quality is there. Hubby told me that Dr. Forman gave him some great ideas and things to think about, like regenerative stem cell therapy treatment. Pricey as all get out, but we are thinking about it, as the price of Chief's medication every 2 months needs to be weighed long-term in what it costs comparitively. So I'll have to go meet Dr. Forman to discuss. By the way, Dr. Forman is the only vet at the clinic who can do this stem-cell surgery.
When I went Sat. morning for Chief's 1st laser treatment, I was super impressed. Staff and vet techs were also very friendly, helpful and showed patience in my questioning of prices, including medications, options, etc. -

There is no denying that this is a spectacular facility, and the vets are very nice, but they are SO expensive, and the level of care is not as spectacular as the appearance.
We brought our cat in when she started peeing on our carpet in 2009 - it was diagnosed as a UTI. $60 cat water fountain, new food and a $300 vet bill didn't fix anything, because she never actually had a UTI. When I brought her in a second time, they said that she was stressed and needed cat prozac. That visit was a cool $500, plus the fees for her prescription. For a basic check up. I was also told that she need to have her teeth cleaned - lord only knows how much that would have been. There was no apology for the misdiagnosis, and no discount. Just "oh, we got it wrong... but let us do some more tests."
This month, they tried to charge me the same price for a week's worth of cat prozac that they'd been charging for a month, and when I asked about it, they said it was the "dispensing fee." Umm.,. shouldn't it cost LESS to count out less pills?
So, I have switched vets. And the new vet, in addition to being much cheaper, is not pushing me have my cat put under so they can brush her teeth.
Everyone in their office is very nice, don't get me wrong, but my momma didn't raise a fool - I'm not paying double on all of my bills and medication just so that my cat can hang out in a nicer exam room for 15 minutes once a year. -

As a vet this place seems pretty top notch.
Great flexible hours to get your pet in. On time Md's and techs. Simple and straight forward.
I really appreciated that they explain the pros and cons of anything you may have questions about... Frontline vs. something else... you know anything.
Check out the pet rescue that is located here as well. They are always looking for volunteer dog walkers and foster/adoptive families. -

Dr. Wheaton is the only veterinarians in the area that I feel comfortable being able to send my customer's and my own pets to. You can see the passion that Dr. Wheaton has for animals. I have worked closely with his rescue over the past couple of years helping to adopt out his cats in my store. This is completely non-profit for Dr. Wheaton and his wife, Blythe, but they started the Pet Rescue Center out of their love of animals.
He has always been great with my two girls (who are not very people friendly), and he even found a chipped tooth in the back of my Misty's mouth when I got her checked for what I thought was an upper respiratory issue (which I still need to get fixed).
Thank you Dr. Wheaton for all your dedicated work! -

Sad day..... we took the Grandkid's littlest cat to APCC to put her to sleep. She had always been the smallest of the litter, and of the two kittens our daughter brought home two years ago, the little one evidently didn't have the strength to stay on this earthly plane.
While I can only speak to today's services, I can agree that this clinic is one of the more impressive that I've seen. We've had both wonderful family cats and dogs over the years, and we were only familiar with the much more modest clinics in the Claremont-Upland area where we then lived.
My oldest daughter related to me that on her visit yesterday, Dr. Wheaton, in an incredibly understanding manner, shared his opinion about the cat, and the option of euthenizing. When she related the details of how much time he spent with her, and that there had been no charge for his consult, I was already thinking good thoughts about him. That story alone convinced me that his sensitivity might just be the greatest feature of this clinic.
So yes, the pricing structure is always a strong consideration. And with great respect for those, which also includes us, who find it difficult dealing with un-insured veterinary billings, I'd say that it might be worth seperating quality of care from cost of services. We all have tough decisions to make, and sometimes with pets, they can be the hardest. This was the first time I had been to the vet in maybe 10 years, but you can be sure Dr. Wheaton's clinic will be the one I first recommend to others. -

I recently adopted a 7 month old puppy, and I wanted the absolute best vet for my first dog =)
The actual facility is immaculate, and looks brand new. They have a surprisingly beautiful lobby that would put any general Human hospital to shame. We were kind of greeted by a receptionist ( after waving her down ), and were guided into an exam room with a nurse, and were met with Dr. Farmer, who I believe is new to the team.
We asked for a physical examination, and the important vaccinations any
puppy would need. The actual exam lasted 5 minutes. Then pursued a 20-30 minute rundown on basic puppy care which included the doctor's recommendations of special brand foods, medicines, etc. He was very informative, but at the same time I was beginning to question what this was all going to cost me.
The nurse came back with a price quote of everything the doctor suggested, which added up to $400-$500. Ohhhhh...heeeck no! I Love my dog but this seemed like way too much to spend on his first vet visit. I was completely taken aback by pricing, b/c I know Dr. Wheaton owns a pet shelter where I was quoted lower prices for neuters and vaccinations, and I had assumed he offered these same AFFORDABLE prices at his pet care center. Boy, was I wrong.
I've shared my experience here with co-workers (very avid dog/cat lovers), and was surprised to learn they too had disappointment at this vet. Long story short, the disappointment stemmed from the exact same problem: selling of expensive products & services. They do provide Excellent veterinary service, but they also ask you to pay an arm and a leg for it. If you want the same quality care (b/c it's performed by the same doctor), for spays, neuters, and/or vaccinations, go to his pet shelter for lower pricing: Affordable Spay & Neuter. -

We were recommended to Dr. Wheaton and Alicia Pet Care by a family friend. We have been extremely pleased. I would rate them 5 stars but they are a little pricey compared to most veterinary clinics. However, the Dr. , staff and facility is top notch.

Ha - first!
This is the new name and location of the vet offices of Dr. Wheaton and Dr. Hawkins, formerly known as Alicia Pet Clinic and formerly on Alicia.
They have moved into larger, fancier digs, with less parking. See the older "Alicia Pet Clinic" entries for their generally glowing reviews. Since they've moved I've only been in to pick up meds so I don't have anything to add to my previous review. . -

Dr. Wheaton and his staff are THE VERY BEST. I cannot say enough about the whole experience I have had over the last 6 years. Our dog has been in excellent health the past few years so we had been fortunate. This recently changed. Several weeks ago my dog Buddy suffered a heat stroke due to laryngeal paralysis (he could not cool himself off after a walk. He could not effectively pant his way to cool off) and had to be brought in for an overnight stay for IV fluids and medication to see if we could stabilize him. He almost died. Dr. Wheaton was realistic, but hopeful in what we could expect in recovery. The care Buddy received from every person in that clinic was truly amazing. Buddy stabalized over night and was well enough to come home. Day by day...he got better. After our heat stroke incident, we decided to have a tie back surgery done to treat his laryngeal paralysis. Dr. Wheaton brought in an expert surgeon who did an outpatient surgery and immediately corrected Buddy's breathing pattern. Dr. Wheaton and his staff were in constant contact with us to make sure Buddy was healing appropriately over the weeks that followed. I am happy to say Buddy is doing amazingly well and this is thanks to Alicia Pet Care Center. You should LOOK NO FURTHER. Alicia Pet Care Center is where you want your pet to be cared for. We've been to other places. This is top notch. Make the appointment.

Not only is Dr. Wheaton an amazing vet, he is not afraid to tell it like it is and talk to his clients frankly. I appreciate this in a doctor, and I always have the utmost confidence that he will help me make the right decisions for my pets. It is obvious that he is an animal lover, and that makes me feel good about his practice. I also think it's great how he does a lot of extracurricular stuff for the animal community. Your pets are safe in his hands!

Very clean, staff is very nice and you can tell they all love their animals. The Dr. Wheaten was very thorough about answering all my questions and didnt rush me. Its been 2 weeks since I went in there and all I can say is my dog is a new dog. He went from scratching and biting himself raw from allergies all day and night to a itch free dog. Thank You Alicia pet Care

Dr. Wheaton has been my English Bulldog's veterinarian for about 9 years now. The one thing I love about Dr. Wheaton is that whenever we visit he is always very attentive to our needs and is always so loving and caring with our dog. You can see the passion he has for animals and it is so wonderful to have him as our vet. He is very knowledgable. The facility is new and clean. It is absolutely beautiful.

Alicia Pet Care Center has wonderful doctors and a staff to match. Their facility is beautiful but what really matters most is that the entire staff seemed to really care about me and my pet. I adopted my cat Lou from their Pet Rescue Center about a year and a half ago and every time I've been in since, it feels like a family reunion. I would highly recommend Alicia Pet Care Center to anyone that is looking for an amazing vet that really cares about their pet.

My poor cat has been sick most of her 10 years. She has been to many doctors, none of which could figure out what was wrong with her. She'd get very sick 2-3 times a year, and we'd have no choice but to shell out more $$ for blood tests, only to end up with our fingers crossed that she'd get better on her own. Luckily she always did get better, but it rarely had anything to do with the doctors she saw. This last time around I ditched yet another ineffective doctor, only to find Alicia Pet Care Center. Within literally hours they had a real diagnosis, the first one my cat has ever had. She is now on her way to a real recovery and a future of being healthy. The doctors and nurses at Alicia Pet Care Center are awesome. They actually care, they know what they're doing, and they don't mind taking all the time in the world to talk about what's going on, what the options are, etc. I am totally sold. After all this time my cat finally has a great doctor!!

Staff is fantastic, building is new and beautiful, very caring doctors, but WHOA! Watch out for the up-sell! Unbelievable! They get ya on everything, all in the best interest of your pet. Of course! Top notch service, but you better have the bucks to pay for it.
