I am a senior, and like many my age (79), have problems with my feet. I have consulted with many Podiatrists over many years who did not help me. They  performed a cursory exam, gave me pain killers, neurontin, cut my toe nails, sold me ill - fitting cold and clammy orthodics, said I needed bunion surgery (which they would be very happy to do) and sent me out the door.

Dr. Knee was a pleasant cheerful fun surprise. She performed a very thorough foot  and ankle exam including checking my balance and gait. She wrote me a script for physical therapy to strengthen my ankles and feet. She sent me off to have my orthodics repaired and adjust, which turned out to be a wonderful experience. She also said not to touch the bunions as long as they don't hurt (and she is a surgeon!!).

All this with a smile - I am very happy with my new Podiatrist. Thank you Dr. Knee.

I will be starting physical therapy later this week and will update.

I just had ankle surgery performed by Dr. Knee about a month ago.  I met with multiple surgeons and none came close to making me feel as informed and confident going into surgery.  She is terrific!  Dr. Knee - and her office - are very responsive, she is always a pleasure, very upbeat, and explains things in a way that I could definitely understand.  Highly recommend.

All I can say is, I wish I had a primary care physician like Dr. Knee.  It was easy to get through on the telephone, I got an appointment in a reasonable amount of time and the staff was warm, friendly and helpful.  I was ushered to the exam room promptly after arriving.  How rare is that?

I have had problems with my feet for a long time and have been to two other podiatrists in the last three years.   She was the FIRST to sit down with me and compare my x-rays to that of a normal foot, so I could really understand where my discomfort was originating from.  She also gave me more time and attention than anyone else ever did!   I never felt rushed.

She said she would only operate as a last resort, and disclosed that if it came to that, I would never be able to wear high heels again, only low heels.  (The last podiatrist also recommended surgery  as a last resort, but did not disclose the part about heels -- I am a ballroom dancer and would like to be able to wear heels for dancing).

Dr. Knee was the FIRST podiatrist to explain a way to correct my walk, to recommend special shoes called "rockers," and who wrote instructions for the shoe store to put in special pads to minimize pressure on a certain part of the ball of my foot.  Other podiatrists just trimmed my corns and sent me home.

She also pointed out that I have an ankle that is a bit collapsed to one side, and I am going to consciously work at strengthening that.  I didn't recall until after I left her office, but I had a very bad break to that ankle many years ago.  Perhaps that was the source.  Again, no one had ever brought it to my attention.  I was so impressed with her.

Besides the professionalism I experienced on this visit, she has a wonderful, sunny energy when she enters the room.  She gets my highest recommendation.

I ruptured my achilles heel in 2003 playing hoops.  Dr. Knee was extremely professional, quick, and answered all of my questions. More important than her bedside manner was her surgical skills. She did a fantastic job. I no longer play basketball but thanks to Dr. Knee, I just finished my first Muay Thai amateur fight. I'm back to 100% functionality and all is left is a scar.  I'm so grateful that she did a great job, because i'm very athletic. She is good!    The worst part of the rupture was finding a good physical therapist.  Good luck with that!!

Dr. Knee was very informative and kind and fun. She spent a lot of time explaining stuff and alas, my workers' comp denied my claim. Her staff was good too. Normally I have Kaiser so I was unable to go through with the recommended surgery. I would trust Dr. Knee to cut my foot, but not ..others..

Dr. Knee is truly as good as it gets. We've worked with Alicia for years, since she was at UCSF Orthopedics. She is an excellent physician and surgeon. Her patients have great outcomes. And, she is super pleasant to work with for patients and for us, as physical therapists.

I'm thrilled that she is back practicing in the City!

Dr. Knee performed a re do bunion surgery for me. So far so good, but what I wanted to emphasize is that she really went above and beyond for me in preparation for my surgery, which was sort of last minute. I needed a physical and since it was last minute not very many doctors could do it...would you believe that she even called some of her contacts?? Additionally, I have been having shoulder issues and she called around to see who was the best doctor for my issues. I am very thankful for everything she did. She has a fantastic bedside manner. I could just chit chat with her all day!

I have been have nerve pain in my left foot as well as a tweaked achilles. I am super athletic so this really has been a bummer. I saw the ad and called. They were able to see me right away. She looked at both my foot as well as achilles and was able to suggest some simple tactics for correcting my biomechanics as well as writing a PT prescription for me. She took quite a bit of time with me and thoroughly examined my foot and ankle. No rush. Thumbs up to Dr. Knee.

As a physical therapist, I used to see some of Dr. Alicia Knee's foot and ankle patients when she was in the UCSF orthopaedic surgery department, and ran their dance medicine clinic.  I recommend her highly for any and all foot and ankle injuries, patient of all ages and activity levels.

She is great. I have had both feet operated on with wonderful results. For the second one, I even went up to Novato to have the surgery there since that was where she was practicing until recently. I too am thrilled she's back in the city.
