Review from Richard I.
Monterey Park, CA
I practice here all the time. Although I mainly use their driving range, I really enjoy this facility.
Most important factor for me is the condition of range balls and to a lesser degree condition of mats. For a public facility, I think they refresh their range balls more often than other ranges, so you mostly get good quality range balls with each bucket.
Pros:
-open very late, midnight during summer, and 11:00 p.m. other times of year
-plenty of parking
-three levels, so they have many stalls
-very clean restroom facilities
-renovated bunker practice area (fluffier sand and lower bunker lip); I personally liked their older, more challenging bunker better though.
-prices are decent, but you can get prepaid range key discounts
-vending machines with drinks and snacks at reasonable prices
-friendly and helpful staff
Cons:
-very limited chipping area which is dangerously close to the parking lot (i.e., don't park your car directly behind this practice chipping green!!)
-practice green near the range is not too helpful, too much slope; the green near the 9th hole is better to practice your putting
My biggest pet peeve of this range in particular is that from evening to closing, they can get some real knuckleheads that aren't there to practice. It's more of a hang out joint to socialize at. They can get real obnoxious and loud. I can usually tune them out, but it's still annoying when you get a large group of loud people shouting, laughing, and shanking balls off the wooden stall protectors. -

Driving Range Review:
A pretty decent range, but I've been to better and cheaper ranges around the area. A big plus is that they're open late where other ranges shut down early. Some of the mats are no good and as another reviewer said, there are a ton of knuckleheads here (it's easy to shut them out though, just move to the bottom level).
Golf Course Review:
3 words...Goose. S**t. Everywhere. I mean, the stuff is all over the place! Overall though, a good place to learn the ins and outs of golfing on a regulation course if you've only been to Par-3s and such. It's short enough to manage for the beginner golfer, but there's enough wrinkles in the course to keep seasoned golfers from boredom. Just be prepared to rinse off your shoes after your round. -

Good prices we took our 2 and 5 year old, they even have us a little golf club for them. It was our first time playing golf and we enjoyed ourselves very much in the practice area. Golf clubs are free to borrow and we got 100 balls for $10. Clean restrooms too :)

Pretty cheap. $3 for 30 golf balls. Charge you a dollar to rent the T. I would give this a 5 stars but this is my first golf range I've been to so I have nothing to compare to.

This is a hidden gem in SGV!
The driving range is a be is such a great place to try golf just for kicks without the big $$$ signs.
Entrance fee and club rentals are free. Golf balls are only 10cents each and it comes out of a something like a soda machine. =) -

Very fair & good prices 100 ball for 10 bucks. I have no experience what so ever in golf. Over all its a good way to relax. I played on the top floor.
It pretty cool they clubs on hand so, there no need to bring your own. -

DRIVING RANGE REVIEW
- Open late night! (Closes at 12am, last bucket sold at 11:30pm).
- Golf ball vending machine that allows you to pay in cash or credit card!
- Max yards is almost 300?
- Three levels to hit from.
This is my favorite driving range in la so far because of the fact that there are several stalls to hit from & there's free parking. You can't get that in LA nowadays.
I recommend swinging on the top level since you can hit as high as you want without the risk of hitting the fence looking rail at the edge of each stall when you swing outward.
Also && most importantly, it's better to swing on the top deck because the voices of the irritating high schoolers don't resonate like they do on the second & first levels.
BRING earphones if you want to drown out the sound of their irritating voices and try to swing far away as possible from them.
The thing with the top level at night is that bugs swarm like crazy. If youre squeamish like me, go to a stall far away from the football field lights. -

It opens till 12 at night. This is my go to range for those hot summer nights. Price is pretty fair for a nice facility. There are 3 levels. After hitting some balls we can go get some grab at the local cafes

This review is only for the driving range.
I think the driving range is pretty standard. It has 3 levels so there'll be plenty of space, but there are usually a lot of people there. They sell the golf balls @ a fixed rate at 100 balls @ $10, 60 balls @ $6, and 30 balls for $3. The price isn't that great; it's pretty standard.
You can buy tees for $1 or rent one with a $1 deposit. Some of the spaces on the top level already have tees but they're only for righties. :(
They also have clubs that you can rent for free.
I think that driving ranges are awesome places to go with friends & definitely a good place to meet people. I like this place because it's in a convenient location & has amazing parking. It's nice to go in the late afternoon/night time. -

Los Angeles, CA
my golf game parallels my male porn actor career(if I had one).
Impressive drives, extra long, and power.
But when I get close to the hole(money shots), I don't deliver. For example, on a par 5. I will get on in 2 and end with a 10. Whether its a flub approach shot, a dip in the sand, or not reading the green, my short game sucks.
Playing here is my favorite for several reasons...cheap, close to LA, course is kept up for the most part, decent driving range, 2 putting greens, and even a sand trap practice area. Some cons include the slow pace at times, especially on early sunday mornings or @ twilight hours. It can get crowded and don't be surprised if you hear alot of "fore's". You will be ducking since this is a great practice course.
clubhouse has decent food and I would probably stop by more if I wasn't so preoccupied with saving par. For some reason I think hunger equals better play.
Low key but sometimes you will get a couple of snobs or if the marshalls start acting like if their jobs are really important. Other than that, I love this place.
Sure, you may know of nicer courses but it won't cost you $40 while riding, where you can hit you driver and lose a shitload of balls. By the way, for it being open, if you have a bad hook or slice, bring extra balls. Other players may snake ur shit if ur playing with high end ball. I play maxflis normaly, bit if I crack my prov1 or callaway HXs, I draw a dick on them and also right "i love cock". No one touches my balls now....no even my wife!
This course gives it to you long and short. -
Review from Peter C.
A few years back, some so-called friends introduced me to the worst drug habit ever. That's right - golf is a 4-letter word. Golf will ruin your mental health, deplete your checking account, and yet I willingly subject myself to the same abuse every week. Inevitably, when you say to yourself, "F this. My score for the day is screwed. Here goes nothing," you hit your best shot of the day, or sink a putt from somewhere in the 909 area code. *%&$#@!)%*$&%*!%*! Now I have to come back next week. *deep sigh. eyes gaze upwards* If you are even 1% OCD, I'm pretty sure golf will bring it out.
This review is more geared towards the driving range, but I'll get to the golf course later. The driving range is 3 decks, with my favorite being the top deck right before sundown. Middle deck is good for hot days, so that you can be in the shade. Lower deck is not recommended because the layout of the range forces you to hit an uphill shot. You see mostly young kids on the lower deck. Guess that's so they don't take a swan dive off the middle or upper decks. The fee for a bucket of balls is pretty similar to other places, but what I like is that they have **buckets of clean water and brushes.** This is key - so few places have this! You can clean up your clubs and get them sparkling once again.
The putting area is on a moderate slope, so this may or may not be a good test of putting for beginners. It just depends on how much you like a challenge.
The golf course is pretty generous, from a yardage standpoint. Some par 4s are as short as 270-290 yards. The front 9 vs back 9 have completely different personalities, and that will either delight you or annoy you. I, personally, don't think it's fair to subject golfers to such different characteristics. The front 9 has short holes and no terrain. The back 9 is full of terrain and hills, has water, and some forced carries where you better get it in the air, or you're in trouble.
But that's ok. I come to this place for the driving range, and it's a really nice facility that's open until midnite during summer. Swing thought: "Here goes nothing." Oh dayam... "FORE!! Sorry dude." -

Nice scenery. Expensive compared to Monterey Park or Griffith Park. Loud as hell cause of all the kids who play there. Must they yell about hitting over 100 yards with a 5 iron?

I don't know of any other nearby places with a driving range, so this place is the place to go! It's $10/per 100 balls. I think it was cheaper a few years back, but oh well.
Now, I'm really no golfer. I just come by with a couple of friends and enjoy a little stress relief. Sometimes there are pretty obnoxious teens here, but it's pretty okay for the most part. This isn't a pros-only service, so expect quite a few newbies and teens looking for something to kill time.
When they're collecting balls w/ the enclosed ball-collector cart, try aiming for them. It's fun. :)
You can borrow some clubs if you give them your ID I believe. Tees are also available for $1 deposits(you get the $1 back when you return the tee). And I believe the tees come in short or tall, so make sure you specify if you prefer one or the other. -
Review from Kione E.
Alright, I gotta kick it up a star for the great service from the pro-shop.
We got there some 40 minutes early for our tee-time and I guess there was an earlier slot open because the dude let us go 30 minutes early!
AWESOME!!!
That has NEVER happened before...well, not THAT early. So cool.
Thank you!!
And that's not all.
When came buck around after finishing the 9th, we needed change for the Gatorade machine, and the same guy warned us what a crappy machine it was and let us know that the bar was still open.
Good looking out!
Other than the condescending-dick of a field-marshal, we had a great time on a great course on a super beautiful day.Listed in: GOLF, Kione's best of 2010

Last summer, I had a brief love affair with the driving range. Something about soft lambskin gloves, cold hard shafts, whacking balls, and warm midsummer nights just titilates me. Don't ask me why.
Although the balls are a bit on the pricier side, especially compared to Pacific Palms, the facilities at Alhambra Golf are pretty nice. I like that there are several levels, which provides fundamental shading when the sun is still up. They also have friendly staff who don't laugh when I completely miss the ball, and stay open until midnight during the summers. Good times. -

Just got back from the Driving Range :)
This place is A-OK...personally I like the single level range where it's more open rather then mutiple levels. This range felt a little constraint with concrete ceiling and gated fence. Other then that, it's local, like the hours of operation, the place is clean, price of the balls are decent and have to say the staff was cool...helpful. -
Review from Joey C.
Los Angeles, CA
1. The one great thing this place has going for it is its late hours. You can purchase a bucket as late as 11:30pm. As a competitive golfer, I'm thinking about my swing 24/7. So if I want to work on something, this is the place to go to.
2. It can get crowded from 8pm to 11:00pm. You might have to wait up to an hour for a spot to open. And there's plenty of tools that take a spot, don't hit balls because they're smoking, talking too much or just taking their time. But I'm an impatient person.
3. It can get a little ghetto there, and I mean ghetto of all races. So it's not people who have the knowledge of etiquette for golf. Like ghetto people have any manners anyways. So you're warned about loud, stupid, uneducated people.
4. Lot of cute girls frequent this place, some of them have an interest in golf. But as most golfers know in Southern California, where there is golf, there are plenty of Asians. Which is all good, because they're all pretty good golfers.Listed in: LA/OC Golf Tour, Don't Date Joey!

Review from Kevin F.
Pretty enough and difficult enough around the greens to attract the low handicapper while open enough and short enough to bring the high handicappers.
It's the course I go with my beginning golf friends, and there's enough here for me to not just try hitting shots left-handed because I'm so bored. There were some weird greens where I really did have to consider my approach shot, and really focus on contact to avoid certain trouble. And the conditions here are well-maintained, especially the greens, and as a guy who likes putting, its nice to get good rolls.
While not a name course, not a bad play. -

Santa Monica, CA
Now this would probably sound trivial to a non-golfer, but when I used the driving range the other day, all of the balls and mats seemed virtually new. What a nice change! Did I just get lucky somehow?? Most public ranges I have been to in Los Angeles just keep using balls until they are totally worn out and eventually split in half. $6.00 for a medium bucket and what seemed to me to be the worlds most confusing ball dispensing machine, and no I wasn't drinking. That came later..lol. The attendent agreed, but I am sure it's a lot easier the second time. Three tiers means two levels of shade, which is nice.
There is a nice bar/restaurant with some domestic pints for $2.00!!! Just what the doctor ordered after working up a sweat trying to hammer balls out of the driving range... -

I wouldn't mind giving it 4 stars, but I have to take one away for the pro shop. I bought an Odyssey putter, but they were out of covers. They took down my information and said they would call when they got one in. Never called.
The course is fine enough. Fairways aren't the widest and water might come into play on a couple holes if you swing that way. Don't remember running into too much slow play over the years. -

This is a good, decent golf course for the price. It's an 18 hole regulation course with water as well as bunkers.
Twilight can be a decent bargain or just terrible depending upon how crowded the course is.
The real goodness of this course is in the practice facilities. +1 star right there for the scrubby golfer than I am. They have 2 putting greens, a bunker, and a pitching hole. They also have a three-story driving range that stays open late on Weekdays and Weekends. (I think they close at midnight on weekends!) -

Played the back nine with a friend this am. Overall, I really like this golf course. Back nine has short par 4s where you can go get an easy birdie if you nail the driver or really end up in a lot of trouble. The fairways have rolling hills with mature trees. The greens have a lot of shape to them, much more than the Los Angeles municipal golf courses.
Great place the check out! -

just got back from the driving range and it was pretty packed for a wednesday night. we got here at around 930pm and only 2 spots were open. it finally cleared up around 1030PM.
we paid $9 for 100 balls and just remember to get a tee from the guy in the front. you can either buy one for a buck or put a deposit down, also a buck.
the range isnt lit in the back, so after around 150 yards, it's pretty dark. if you're expecting fancy, dont come here, but if you're looking for a place to unwind and to whack at balls while listening to your ipod, this place is definitely it.
i found my new hang out after work. -

100 balls are now $10, instead of $9 back when I went last time...
but that WAS over a year ago, so I guess it makes sense. Maybe the economy is picking up? nahhhhh.....
Anyway, I noticed that they are less clubs to borrow now last night I was there after a very large meal. Maybe people "borrow" them and never returned it. Six of us shared a bucket of 100 balls to hit on the top level at around 8:30pm, and decided not to get another bucket. Why? Because there were WAYYYYY too many bugs. Grasshoppers, gnats, mosquitoes, flys, etc etc etc!!! It probably was due to the heat, and nothing they could have done about it....but still!
Anyway, -1 star for raising prices when ppl economy still sucks.
But still awesome fun when there are no bugs.Listed in: My Neighborhood

From my little experience with golf, its a pretty good place to be. Both young and old are able to hit around some golf balls, try their hand at putting and go along the course. All of which was fine, and I think its fairly typical of golf courses and driving range. Of course, this is just based on my one and only and first visit to a place like this. I thought it was cool, and if you're a golfer, it seems to cater to you pretty well. So go for it, check it out, and have fun.

Review from Wesley W.
I played here the other day and really enjoyed the course. It's definitely walkable and difficult to lose your ball. With that said, the blues play a slope 113 so that tells you how "easy" it is. You just have to stay on or near the fairway. Lots of short par 4's so if you're long, it could be eagle time. Course is in good shape and greens are medium speed with little break. If you're a high handicapper, this is the course to play to work on your short game and get your confidence going.

This is my first time at the driving range and it was a pretty fun experience! a bucket of golf balls is $7 and you bring your own golf clubs. I wish they give you more room because if my friend used his driver it would of hit the wall! I noticed many dents in that concrete wall!! how sad! Although i suck and still don't know what i'm doing, its really fun! just make sure you stretchhhhh! i didn't know golf was so damn tiring!!!!!!!

I come to this range quite often. It's the closest one by and the one that stays open the latest. Sometimes quite and sometimes over crowded. It just depends i guess. It use to be cheaper but prices are going up. It's now 10 dollars for a large. There's 3 levels so plenty of spots to hit from. A decent putting green to practice on with real slopes. Overall a decent range to practice your game long or short.

The course is ok, but you can play Santa Anita for not much more. Because it's a fairly short course, you'll find a deluge of weekend golfers here. The driving range is pretty good. Range balls are usually in good shape and you receive a discount if you are willing to deposit a couple hundred bucks.

A fun place to go to when you and a couple friends are bored (the driving range).. hit a few balls, none of us knows how to golf, but its always a fun time. They don't close till 9:30 I think, but I'm not positive.. 105 balls for $9.00. You can loan clubs and a rubber tee with a deposit. Theres a putting-green area to the side. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because they lost my friends ID card! I would give it 1, but it wasn't me who lost my ID and I have fun everytime I go there! Except for the last time, when my friend lost his ID..

Decided after eating some occ, I would burn if off at this range. I am a little rusty. But the swing came back. $6.00 for the medium balls. You can use the credit card now for the vending machines. The range is not busy if you go during the weekday. I like how it has the yardage of the balls hit base on the colors. That was not there before. Parking here is always tight.

Los Angeles, CA
Well I'm certainly no golf expert. I went here recently for my first ever golf outing. It was kinda fun. I don't think it's a very difficult course since the drives are straight except for the 18th hole which takes a jog. After you're done with one hole, you don't have to go very far to get to the tee for the next hole. The guys in the golf shop are very helpful and friendly. The golf clubs I rented were in good shape. So were the golf carts. Props to the lady in the drink cart who happen to be very timely in making sure we didn't get too thirsty out there. Not bad for a public course.

Very slow day today, as frost delay made a buildup, slow players a hole up, and had to start on the 10th tee. Greens were pretty bumpy. Pretty straight forward course for the most part, with a couple doglegs and valleys here and there. Good course for the price of it and golf with friends always makes for a fun day. Marshall was lazy, just sitting on a bench on the 10th tee and never seen him again.

it's a convenient location to just wack a few balls out of the park. They have duplex driving range. Just watch out for some of the older gentlemen who take their games pretty seriously here. They rent out clubs and a bucket of balls isn't too bad ($5? or some small amount). By the time you're done, you feel you've let out a bit of energy, and honestly, sometimes, i leave this place more tense than when I arrived. All in all it's convenient, affordable and can be pretty fun.
