Review from J K.
San Ramon, CA
I used their service last year when our garage door slammed shut and the opener didn't seem to be able to lift up the door. We first called our Home Warranty company (Fidelity), and they sent out some joker who charged us $50 for coming out and told us that the problem was that our garage door was too heavy and that our warranty didn't cover replacing garage doors. When I mentioned to him that the door opened just fine for over 2 years and that I doubted the door gained weight all of a sudden, he still stuck to his preposterous diagnosis of the door being too heavy. So, I called Fidelity and told them that my insurance should cover the spring and the door opener, they repeated that the technician said the door's weight was the problem. What can you do when a home warranty company finds whatever reason they can to avoid paying for a repair?
Well, I canceled my warranty policy (after having spent over $1,000 in premiums), and called Greg based on his Yelp reviews. He came out and immediately saw that the spring was bad. He replaced it, then found that the opener's motor was damaged from having continually lifted the door with a bad spring, so then replaced the motor with a model that was much quieter than the previous one.
Dealing with Greg is really straightforward and his prices are very reasonable. He takes things step by step so as to not repair or replace parts that don't have to be. A real, honest professional. -

I have had two great experiences with this company. The first time I called Greg regarding our broken garage door opener he first gave me some low cost "do it yourself" ideas to fix it without having to pay him a service fee. How often does that happen? We ended up requiring a new opener. It was installed by Greg in a quick, cost efficient, professional manner. The second time he came out within hours after getting a panicked call from me after I backed into the garage door (ha!) and he charged me a reduced price for a very quick fix done by him. So pleased with this company, I strongly recommend.

I emailed Alhambra Garage Door to get an estimate on replacing our garage door. Greg the owner answered my email and was great. Within minutes we had an appointment scheduled. Greg showed up right on time and was able to give me an estimate.
6 weeks later Greg showed up himself to install our new door! he did and excellent job and my husband and i are very happy with the door.
Dealing with Alhambra Garage Door was a real pleasure. They are very professional, responsive and knowledgeable about their business. I can't really ask for better than that. i would give them 10 stars if i could! -

Could not be happier with the service I received from Greg. Called him at 9am on a Monday and he was out on Tuesday afternoon. My chain had fallen off its track and I thought that we might need a replacement. Greg came out and we did not need a replacement at all. He fixed the problem and was finished with his service call in about 20 minutes. On time and honest, what more could you ask from a tradesman!

Greg left me worse off! He created more problems.
My garage door was getting stuck on one of the tracks, so I called Alhambra based on all the good Yelp reviews. But, Greg ended up breaking my motor by forcing it and over adjusting.
I kept telling him the point where the door was getting stuck and suggesting it was the tracks possibly shifted by settling in the area. He just ignored me and proceeded to burn out a perfectly functioning motor and leaving me with a $395 quote to replace it.Comment from greg g. of Alhambra Garage Door 3/31/2011
I'm sorry I couldn't make Kristen happy. There was so much… More » -

Wonderful service. I called Greg at 9:00 am this morning to get help when I accidentally backed up into my garage door, when it did not completely go up, and threw it off track. He was here on time at 11:00, fixed the problem, highlighted that the door had not be working right because the screws were loose and need to be tightened every three months. He graciously did not charge anything over the service call fee. Amazing. Will use him again, when needed.

Garage door came off track on Friday night so I looked in the yellow pages to find a place that can fix it. There were a few to choose from but nothing stood out. I decided to Yelp it (duh!) and came across this place. They're closed on the weekends but after reading the great reviews, I decided to wait until today (Monday) to make an appointment. I called around 12:30pm and to my surprise, they were available from 1pm-3pm. Wow, I didn't expect service that quickly! I was still at work so I called a friend to see if he was able to meet them at the house. He was available but not until 4pm. I call Alhambra back and they agreed to meet at 4pm. This is THE BEST customer service I've had in a long time. They were very friendly over the phone and very accomodating with my schedule.
My friend said they arrived at 4:15pm and fixed the garage door very quickly. Lucky for me, it didn't have to be replaced, whew! He also checked to make sure all the other parts were working smoothly and correctly.
At the end of it all, it cost only $95 to fix the garage door and was done only a few hours after the initial phone call. Talk about excellent, excellent service! I HIGHLY recommend using Alhambra Garage Door! -

I came home from L.A. to spend the summer with my parents. As soon as I walked in the door, my Dad gave me a list of projects he wanted me to take care of because he figures, hey, it's not like she's working for the next few months, so she's got the time.
One of the projects they'd been sitting on was the garage door. For months they could not close the garage door with the remote, but had to hold down the button on the wall until the door hit the ground.
I called Alhambra and left a message describing the problem. They called back within an hour. That was quick. The guy I talked to told me how to fix the problem myself and if I didn't want to, he could come over and fix it for 90 bucks. I fixed it myself. It was crazy simple.
It would have been very easy to tell me that the fix was complicated and make a big show of it and make a couple of semolians off of us saps for doing almost nothing, but Alhambra didn't. Thanks for being awesome Alhambra! 5 stars for the work you didn't do. -

The guys at Alhambra Garage Doors were absolutely fantastic to work with. My house is old, not exactly level or square, and had been neglected for many years before I bought it. I'm old fashioned, and I wanted to put my car in the garage... that meant replacing the existing (tilt up) style door with a roll-up style. I wanted something functional, but something that would also add to the beauty of my home.
Greg showed me options for carriage style doors that fit perfectly with my home's exterior look, was locally made up in Sacramento, had all the function that I wanted/needed, and qualified for energy efficiency rebates (Bonus!). In addition, he said they'd be able to reconstruct the deteriorating frame of my garage door for a very reasonable fee.
Other companies were scared away by my project. The guys at Alhambra Garage doors were not. To top it off they arrived on time (or early), were personable, trustworthy, excellent with follow-through and all around good guys to work with. If every service/product provider could be this good, the world would be a much easier one to live in.
I love my new garage door, I love parking in my garage, and neighbors and strangers walking by the house constantly comment on the beautiful door.
If you want quality work and a fair price, and don't want the hassles you normally have to deal with when contacting home repair and home service providers. Call Greg at Alhambra door. You'll won't regret it. -

Springs broke last year and had AGD come by to fix it.
Completely agree with the other positive comments. Great work at a reasonable price. -

We had our garage door and opener replaced by Greg. I really appreciated his willingness to accommodate the customer, and we are also very satisfied with the product and service.
I called a couple other companies, who told me things like "We only do estimates between 9-11 and 1-3 on weekdays." Uh huh, guess you don't need working people's business. Greg came by early morning before I left for work to do the estimate, already making a good impression. His quote was also slightly lower than what a neighbor paid just to replace a same size garage door, reusing their 20 year old opener!!
After getting frustrated trying to get other quotes, I asked Greg to install a new door and opener. He was able to schedule the job quickly at our convenience and was done in half a day. My wife is now very happy to be able to park her nice car in the garage!! -

Great experience. Responsive and efficient. Greg from Alhambra Garage Door was very professional. Greg returned my call over the weekend within a 1/2 hr. He showed up ON TIME and fixed the door quickly. Greg noticed that there were a few things about the garage door that may cause issues down the road and promptly fixed those as well! That kind of thoroughness is greatly appreciated. He was also great at explaining what caused the cables/door to come off track in the first place. I will definitely recommend Alhambra Garage Door to any one.

Prompt, quick, and great service. Took him less than 30 minutes to replace torsional springs and put the pull wires into the drums. Would call him to service my door again!

Greg helped us by ordering/installing a brand new door and tracks (our motor ended up being OK with the new system). I found him to be very honest and fair, as well as accurate with pricing and timing. Would definitely recommend Alhambra with any door replacement and/or service.

Alhambra came out the same day and replaced the springs that had broken on our large garage door. They were prompt and reasonable - highly recommend!

I got several estimates to replace a garage door, and Alhambra was both the lowest and the easiest to obtain - extremely professional, communicated with me throughout the project (there were some problems with the level-ness of the building) and even came back out to upgrade the installation after calling ME to tell me he didn't think it looked quite right. If I could use Alhambra again to fix other things at my house, I would!

We bought our house a little over a year ago and sadly had to admit that the old style single piece of wood garage door needed to be replaced. We met Greg @ the Concord Home and Garden Show. After talking with him we made an appointment for him to come out and give us an estimate. He was right on time for the estimate and it only took about 20 mins! The price was very, very reasonable- sign us up!! He was able to schedule the install for us in two days- but we were unable to do it until a week later. When the install day came he showed up 5 mins early and set to work. He was done in 3 hours. The quality of the materials and motor he uses is wonderful (super quiet!!!). He treats your garage like it's his garage and is very professional. All new wires are carefully tucked away and the mounting equipment is heavy duty and installed well. All in all- Greg was great. He gave us a bid- stuck to that bid and gave us a quality new garage door at a good price. We have had some nightmarish contractors work at our house and after he left we just looked at each other and said "wow. that was easy." We are THRILLED to have met Greg. We will recommend him hands down to anyone that needs a new garage door. If you are thinking about getting one yourself- PLEASE call Greg- you won't regret it :)

So the garage door opener we got with our house 13 years ago just crapped out and after checking out Alhambra Garage door reviews on Yelp and several other places I decided to give them a call to see if they could fix it. As it turns out they couldn't but that's only because our opener was a Stanley...that company went out of business 9 years ago so there are no parts for it. Decided to go ahead and have them install a belt drive Liftmaster opener to replace it. I called on a Wednesday and they were able to do the work on Saturday so that was a big plus. And funnily enough the guy who they sent out to do it(Charles) was the one who actually INSTALLED our door and opener when the house was BUILT! He was on time, explained things to me and got the work done(took all the old equipment out and put all the new stuff in) in just 2 hours. The new opener works great and is a big upgrade from the old one(faster and quieter). I would definitely call Alhambra Garage door again...hopefully in another 13-15 years. :)
