Not the best bowling alley around...but you can't beat the $2.00/game Monday - Wednesday. The lanes aren't in the best of shape and neither are their bowling balls, but that's probably why it's so cheap.
I come here every other Monday with a group of 30 - 40 people and everyone enjoys themselves. Betty is usually the one that helps us out at the counter.
I also bowl every Tuesday with a group of friends and can't really complain for the price i'm paying to bowl and it's also down the street from my house.
They don't say anything if you bring outside food, because they only have serve nachos and drinks.
There are league on Tuesday night but I think they are done after 9...so that's a good time to come, because it's pretty empty during that time. -
Review from Win K.
Yeah, the place is pretty run down, but you can't beat the price! $3.50 for shoe rentals and $2 for games. That's a great deal.
The interior is pretty large and a big group can be well accommodated. I played two games with a group of 30-something for a meetup group. Much fun was had by all.
The only flaw is perhaps that this bowling alley is quite old--and perhaps could use a bit of repainting....but hey, this is bowling we're talking about here!
Located nearby are restaurants and Boba tea shops and such. Parking is available.
The service is friendly and helpful. There are vending machines for socks ($3) if you need it. -

OK, I am clearly no professional when it comes to bowling, so what I look for in this kind of place is great deals, friendly service and being able to have a good time. ABC Bowling has all of this, plus a few more perks!
I have been coming to this place since my HS days, as we had several fundraisers here. 5+ years later, I still come here. Their $2 a game is the best rate I have ever gotten from any bowling place. The shoe rental is also very cheap (around $3) and they have a very large supply of bowling balls.
Service is always great and they are very good about accommodating large groups. I've only been here for cosmic bowling a few times, but it was a lot of fun! They also have some pool tables, a few arcade games, and a bar, if you're that kind of bowler ;)
It is not the fanciest of places, but what matters is having a good time, and for that, all you need is great company and a good attitude. -

What's there to say? Bowling for $2/game during the weekdays. I used to come here when I went to Alhambra High. And X amount of years laters, it's still the same (minus the bowling shop).
People, this isn't Lucky Strikes. If you're complaining that the place isn't state-of-the-art then the problem isn't ABC, it's your high maintenance arse.
The balls have nicks, you can only enter through one door (usually the left), and the oil on the lanes aren't even. But did I mention that it only costs $2 a game!?
Thumbs up to the Rap/Hip-hop radio station. Thumbs down to the pink background on the screen; it's hard to see your score but you can ask the lady up front to change it to black.
Try to avoid league night on Wednesdays. Otherwise, you're good to go. It's definitely great for groups. -
Review from Mia L.
You can't hate a place for being around for a long time. However I understand it is a little annoying when the balls get stuck over and over again. Or at times it can be a risk that your ball may get scratch by the old machines.
But overall even with its flaws this place is just awesome. They have great rates, the staff are consistently friendly, they have a bar and billiards table, and they actually never said anything to me when I had outside food.
You got to sometimes love an old place. . . . -

The first time I came here, was because I went to Action Lanes in Arcadia, only to discover that I'd have to wait for another hour to get a lane. My uncle decided to take us to ABC instead. The place is old, but that's what gives it its charm. It's comfy. The employees are helpful, and bowling is fun. Sure the lanes aren't well oiled, but hey, come with a group of people and it's really fun! The only thing that disappoints me is how the ball becomes stuck sometimes. :c Playing games are cheap though! :D On weekends at night they have a disco ball thing going on. :p

Review from Karen Y.
I love bowling. I love bowling for cheap. And with cheap prices comes some cutbacks on quality.
Went here yesterday at around 2pm with a bunch of friends to have some good (cheap) birthday celebrating fun. It was pretty much empty there. Just one or two other people bowling.
The place itself is really run down. The main entrance is ugly and makes it look like it closed down years ago. Inside matches the outside. Very run down. The bowling balls aren't organized and there's significant dents in all of them.
This isn't my first choice for bowling. I love saving money, but c'mon! Fix something in this place! -

I come here a lot lately, about once a week for the past 4 months or so. Its all old and all but, if you live around here, its the cheapest place to bowl with $2 a game. It would be best if you come here if you have your own shoes otherwise it's like $3.25 to rent a pair. The people who works here are nice an patient. The place is pretty beat up because this place is really old and needs a remodel. If they got a remodel It would get a 6 star from me! Anyways, if you don't mind the environment, this place would be a perfect place to practice.

This is an awesome place! :D Fun, but if you come here at night...
WHAT. A. CROWD.
Not only that, but there is a pool room.. However, you gotta be 18. They also serve alcohol too! So woop woop!
Can't punch in the names yourself... so blah... They also require that you wear bowling shoes and that if you have some.. you gotta show them you got your own. :P So no sneaking with your own regular shoes!
This place is cheap too! ^_^ -

I came here a few weeks ago to go cosmic bowling with some friends, but why did cosmic bowling have to end so soon?!
Our group got there around 10pm. It was quite a crowd for a Friday night, but they accommodated our 20+group and put 4 lanes together. What's also interesting, is that they put in the names for you guys already, meaning, you don't get to punch in your own version of your name for the night. Boo, I wanted to be "Marthizzle!"
Over all, I gave this place 3 stars because this bowling place wasn't anything out of the ordinary. The bowling place itself is located in an Asian plaza, and I have no idea why it smelled like vomit outside when we left. Wait, I take that back. Perhaps some under-aged person had a little too much to drink. Did I mention they didn't card people for drinks here? -

When I was a young lad of 7 back in 82 (throw in your napoleon dynamite reference here) I used to come here and compete in a bowling league for this was the spot to bowl at for it's trendiness and awesome arcade, u can play pacman and space invaders - rad as we cool kids said back then.
Now flash back to 2011 and the place has not changed much, u can actually still play PAC man and space invaders!! Unfortunately the place needs some remodeling and is no where near to having some kind of "300" or lucky strike appeal which maybe a good thing.
However you just want to bowl than this place is perfect especially if you have kids and stuff. My nephews love going here and even though there not really good bowlers (their horrible) even with the bumpers, they still love coming here and its fun to watch them enjoy it. Last time I came I spent 4 bucks to bowl for one game during the week. Now that is hella cheap. -

To be honest, I don't know who thought it'd be a good idea to come here, but ABC is where I ended up one night with the usual group of friends. It's right down the street from my house, which I guess is where they can have their freebie mandatory 1-star.
Alhambra Bowling Center is seriously run down. Honestly, once you set foot inside, you feel like you've walked into the scene of a 70's movie... but with 40 years of wear and tear on literally everything. People here are not happy. If you happen to come and see people with smiles on their faces, they're laughing at how ridiculously out-of-round the balls are. The lanes aren't oiled properly (if at all) and the balls and shoes are literally disgusting. I'd usually suggest bringing your own but I'd be weary of putting your ball through an aging ball-return machine.
Head over to Action Lanes in El Monte. It's 5 minutes away. -

First, I would like to apologize in advance for writing a negative review, but this place shouldn't be selling anything. For what you get, it's not worth going to this bowling alley. If you want cheap bowling, there are other places with better deals. If you enjoy bowling then this place will not give you normal lane conditions. If you want to just go somewhere to spend time with your friends, go somewhere else instead of throwing money down these lane because like I said earlier, these lanes are completely not worth spending money on. I feel bad for trying to take business away from this place, but I feel like I should warn people about a shitty service.
Ok, where to start? The lanes are all warped and are in need for a change. They lack proper oiling, and I could tell because when I throw my ball it breaks way too early. Meaning, the lanes lack oil for the ball to glide. I'm not picky about the decor, although the place looks like a biker gang ran through and wrecked the entire place. Lastly, the pins are all shot and need replacing. The pin action is so bad it's virtually impossible to hit a strike even with perfect pocket placement.
I'm not a pro, but I know a little about bowling and I've been to a lot of lanes. This place is virtually a scam. Don't support this establishment until they fix their lanes. Like I said, There are better bowling alleys with better prices. I'm not sure how this place gets repeat customers, and, therefore, I wonder how they pay the rent. Seems fishy to me.
I read these reviews, and I still checked it out. That was my mistake, but I really wanted to see how bad this place could be because I live so close. Don't make the mistake I made by wanting to see for yourself. I pray to God someone buys this place and makes it nice, otherwise, I hope they go out of business. -

Arcadia, CA
This place is a dump. I think it''s time to upgrade everything. They have been here forever and it looks dingy and I just hate when my friends want to come bowling here.
I'm afraid to use my own balls here because I'm afraid it might come back in haves. Last time my ball came back with a major scratch on it and the manager wouldn't fix it right away until his tech found out there was a loose screw on the arm thingy that grabs the ball to return. What a headache I said to myself.. You know the scratch is fresh when the scratch is bright white.
The better bowling alley to go to is on Lower Azusa called Action Lanes. Everything is new there and the food at the bumper lanes cafe is great.Listed in: Valley Blvd

The bowling fun itself 4 stars. Best consistent bowling scores I've ever had and I havent gone bowling in ages!
The actual bowling center, 2 stars. There were times when there were strikes, but the score would not show up on the screen, so we had to let the counter know. Looks like this place does not get crowded, which is not a bad thing. The restrooms...whew! Put a air freshener in there please!
On a Friday night, prices were $8.00 for rental bowling shoes and 1 game before 11:30pm. After 11:30pm, each game was $2.75.
We had our own UYE but just 3 yelp members...lol. Carolyn C, Rob Z, and the rest of the crew bowled some competitive games. But we were all just getting started. We split into teams. Thats where the craziness started happening.
I dont think I have ever averaged a score of 129 per game before ever. This is a good score, considering I rarely ever bowl. I was carrying our team with strikes and spares. As my right hand started to get sore, my team was down 30 points. It was up to me to help the team go over the top.
Call me Mr. Clutch (Jerry West) but in bowling. 2 more turns and I need to come up big, the last being a bonus round if I can get the pins to fall.
I get ready with my 10 lb purple bowling ball. I concentrate, roll the ball straight down the middle....STRIKEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
High fives all around from my teammates.
I sit down and wait patiently while my team and opponents take their turns. It did not look too good.
Last time to do my damage..Concentrating again I roll it straight down the middle, STRIKEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
My team is going crazy, we are the only ones left bowling at 1:00am. People that were about to leave are all watching us bowl.
I get another chance since I cleared all the pins with 1 shot.
Again I focus and bowl, straight down the middle..... I got robbed, one pin was left standing. I finish it off with a spare.
At this point, the other team still had their last round to go. Going from down 30 pins to up 16 pins we were waiting to see what would happen.
We ended up losing by 5 pins.....Damn so close, but what a game! -

Used to come here during high school. Now go once a week after work.
The best part of ABC, is the price. Before 5pm, the price is $2.50 a game, or $17 an hour. Considering the option is this or the AMF in Montebello for our weekly games, I'll go with ABC. The place just wants you to have fun, and you can if you can look beyond the negatives.
The condition of the place is as everyone else says. It is not kept up like it should be. The house balls are in pretty bad condition, as are the seats. The lanes themselves look dated and definitely in need of an update. Even with those in mind, I still look forward to come here for my games. Again, this place just makes you want to have fun!
Now note I come here before the night crowds, so there are very few other bowlers, if any at this time. If you want some quiet practice, or have a group of friends and want to possibly get the whole building to yourself, this isn't a half-bad way of doing it if you can get in on the weekdays. -

Wow. I can't believe I'm the first here. Maybe it's because no one knows the "real" name of this place. Everyone knows this place as Valley Bowl or "the bowling place at Valley and New". Called 411 for Valley Bowl in Monterey Park and they said the only thing listed is a place in Pinole. (umm, 400 miles away? How useful are you?) Craziness.
Anyway, Saturday evening around 9PM wasn't too crowded.. Hmm surprised. Cyber bowling .. pretty cool for the unserious bowlers. We got cross lanes right away and we're set for a quiet night of bowling.
Yeah right, "quiet" hahhaa. I'm surprised they didn't kick us out to be honest. We were so loud that I almost wanted to kick myself out haha. We had so much fun though. Thanks valley bowl. we'll be back again soon. -

Quotes of the Night:
Me: ABC? Why do the Chinese always come up with "original" names for places?
Kevin: You mean like NBC?
Christina: Get off the 10 and head up New Ave.
Me: What's up? North?
L'aura: Yeah. You're such the nerd
Me: And how do you spell "New"?
Christina: N-E-W. Just because it's in Alhambra doesn't mean they spell it differently!
Christina: It'll be $18.50 for 2hrs of bowling plus shoes.
Me: No Asian discount? :(
2 hrs and 4 games later...
Me: My wrist is going to need some Ben-Gay tomorrow.
L'aura: I know what you mean! Tiger Balm? -

It's not the poshest place around: tiles dangled from the ceiling, and the disco balls look like they've been there since 70s. On a recent Saturday afternoon, the clientele skewed young (as in middle schoolers), the a/c was weak, and the scoreboard erroneously gave me extra points (not that I minded).
Bowling was great exercise though. My arm felt like Popeye! Plus it was fun watching my brother-in-law practice for the Strategic Actions for a Just Economy Big Daddy Bowl-a-thon https://www.kintera.or... -

I gave this place an extra star because I made my first strike here.
Overall, it's an old bowling alley, but it's close by to restaurants, so getting dinner afterwards is really easy to do. If you don't mind the appearance, it's a good place to hang out on a Friday night. I have to admit, it doesn't look like the safest area to bowl. Just a warning.
They had Linkin Park playing the entire time I was there. Good if you're a fan, annoying if you're not.
Games are about $2 each plus shoe rentals. They have shoes that actually fit my feet here! Other places have shoes that are too small or too big for my size five point five feet.
An alright place to bowl. Not the coolest.Listed in: Saturday Night Fun

I have been wanting to go bowling forever. The original plan was for the bowling alley at the Tustin District. SO when plans were changed to the Alhambra Bowling Center you may understand my disappointment. I knew we were going bowling in the neighborhood but as I drove up my heart sank when I saw which bowling alley. It already looked shady from the outside. We walk in and MAN it looked even worse. I have been to some old and shabby bowling alleys but come on this one was the worst one yet.
*The fee for a Friday Night After 5pm were $4.50 a game OR $26.00 an hour + $3.50 shoe fee.
*The bathrooms were disturbing to say the least. I mean I think a public parks bathroom is cleaner then this. ITs all "white" which gives it a crazy asylum feel plus it has some yellow and brown streaks going on everywhere. Then it has some funky smell thats a reminiscent of my college "puke-after-a-crazy-nite" days + bleach. UGH!
*The place wasnt even FULL but it had noooo light balls. HELLO how many other weak girls were in that joint that nite?
*The arcade games are dirty but airhockey, the gun game kill the civilian jk i mean kill the other people who pop up, and DDE (wtf e?) are all only 50cents.
*bowling was okay cosmic bowling ends at 12 though we had to bowl in the light for the remainder of our stay...that place looked better in the dark
*after 11:30pm bowlin becomes $2.75 a game!! thats kinda awesome
* they play decent music that kept our booties waggin so I enjoyed it
* wanted to shoot pool but that place looked shady like if I went in I would never come out
nevertheless it was a fun night because of the good company, decently priced games, no problem with the lanes, my total score of 68..........ahem* and I left happpy with diiiiirty hands not wanting to step back into the restroom...
will i be back?? ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh no =) -

Who wants to see my bowling skillzz??
No one, cuz I suck at bowling. I did pretty well here tho and got a 101 during one of the games. I think it was cuz there are dotted line lights on the lane itself, and it helped me bowl better. Or, maybe I actually do have bowling skillz.
We went on a Friday night. It was busy, but not too busy, which was nice. I think it was about the same the last few times I was here. I have no idea how much it cost cuz I didn't pay. A bottle of New Castle is $2.75 tho. It's an okay place for some good, clean fun.
I believe you can find better deals at the Brunswick lanes, but the trade off is that those alleys are always too crowded. -

Alhambra, CA
Most of the other reviews spell it out but I'll go over it again because you would rather read one review than twenty. So get it out of your mind that this place is going to be cool like The Big Lebowski. This is not a hidden jem of googie architecture or hipness either, it's in Alhambra.
So, now that you're set on the correct level. ABC Bowl is kind of run down, it's relatively clean but in a, not a fresh coat of paint since the 80's sort of way. All of the bathrooms are clean and all of the lanes looked like they were working. The rental shoes were rental shoes, slick on the bottom and stinky inside. Some of the balls were chipped but not like at some alleys I've been to in Hawthorne where they had holes in them.
The drinks are on the assortment and price level we've all come to expect from a bowling alley. I can't speak for any food because I've never gone to an alley to eat and probably wouldn't. The clientele is 96% Asian. The other 4% was me, a couple friends an a guy looking for directions back to the west side. Some foby kids awkwardly hanging around doing some good wholesome bowling fun were in a few lanes too.
I think the biggest drawback is the price. I can live with the crap look of the joint. In fact I prefer it: have you ever waited for a lane at a dump and paid too much for a drink? This is not Lucky Strike and I'm thankful for it. However, this place should not be charging what they do for bowling rates. I know you've got to make some money but come on. Charge that rate after you buy some paint or light bulbs that don't flicker. -

Yes I am a fan. Were else can you go in the middle of the day and bowl a game for so little? I must say the balls are cracked and the shoes are worn, but if you are just going to have a great time with some friends or family, this is the place to go. They have beer and nachos along with vending machines for snacks and video games for the kids. We celebrated my son's birthday on Sunday night and hosted a group of 25. The staff was nice and the bowling didn't leave me broke. For two games and shoe rental, it averaged for less than $10.00 bucks a person.
All in all we had a great time and we do plan on going back. -

Don't remember if there was any music.
It's a good place for bowling with friends, but don't expect psycho-lights like Lucky Strike. -
Review from Wes S.
This bowling alley is a bit dated compared to a lot of the ones I normally go to, but, the price for bowling isn't too bad here. I believe we paid about $15 for two hours of "All You Can Bowl" (After 9PM).
Prior to the special kicking in, we spent some time in the bar area with my friends playing pool, darts, and putting in a crazy mix of different genres of music in the jukebox.
Overall a fun place to bowl. It wasn't mind blowing fun, nor was it too "hood" to enjoy. -
Review from Andrew F.
Alright boys and girls - let's be honest... if you find yourself resorting to bowling at ABC, you're basically scraping the bottom of the barrel. The wear and tear throughout the years has not treated this place well. And something tells me that ABC has done nothing to hedge against time's wrath.
What are some of these things I speak of? Per my most recent visit:
1. All of the bowling balls seem very beaten up, majority of them scratchy and riddled with cracks.
2. The carpet in the facility is torn up and raggedy.
3. The lighting is very poor and I swear I saw a few bulbs that were flickering, giving it an added feel of 'run-down'-ness
4. The lanes are visibly scratched up and not properly waxed.
5. All of the shoes are of very poor and old quality, many of which are tearing at the seams.
6. The bathrooms are borderline episodes of Fear Factor
Overall, I'd avoid coming here as much as I could. I most recently came here for a birthday party and would not have set foot in here were it for any other reason. I came to ABC when I was very young and it had seen better days, but those days have come and gone.
If you want an enjoyable experience, make the effort to drive a few miles further to Arcadia or El Monte where there are other alternatives.Listed in: Oh Hellz NO!!

I'm a local and I have to admit that some of the reviews are true, especially about the lighting, but this little bowling alley is a great place to have a party or just hang out with friends. I go every once a month just to play DDR and bowl a game or two. There's a giant DDR Extreme machine that my friends and I have been using since our freshman year in high school and it still works great. As for the bowling lanes, yes they are a bit scratchy but I don't think it affects your game that much. As for bowling balls, they are bit old but they're clean. Unless you're using this bowling alley for a championship game for the National Bowling League of America, there's nothing wrong with this bowling alley. The staff are really nice people and if you have a problem, just ask them and they'll fix it right away. Make sure to bring enough money for shoe rentals because that's probably all you need to worry about. As for the bathrooms, they're not top notch but they're not Downtown LA bad. I don't know what the big deal is, the bathrooms are well kept and well lit, anyone whining about how terrible it looks or how scary it is really needs to grow up.
In short, the place hasn't changed much in the past 4 years. Everyone still has a great time, there's never been any problems for me, and the boba store next to it is a great place for refreshments. So if you're around the Alhambra/Monterey Park/San Gabriel area and you want to bowl a game or two, ABC Bowling is definitely worth a visit. -

This place has always been lacking in so many areas. Feels like they need new EVERYTHING. Pricier than other places also.
The balls are so dinged, one might think they were all shot out of a cannon with a pack of metal shrapnel.
It is very chill. The lanes seem nice and smooth. Hey, if you just want to have fun and don't mind the lackluster venue, then you probably won't mind stopping here to bowl. Came here with a couple of friends and we had a good time bowling. -

It's a pretty standard bowling alley, except that it is wonderfully inexpensive!!! My friends and I drive all the way from the west side to bowl here (and eat yummy Chinese food nextdoor). Theres also a boba joint next door; Boba+bowling= :)
If you like to bowl a lot I would recommend investing in a pair of shoes (around $30) instead of renting every time. You will save a lot of money and save your feet from communal shoes. -

it's $2.50 per game after 11pm. on weekdays $2 or $2.50 after 7pm.
regular price , i think, is $4.50
probably the worst bowling places I've seen but cheap for sure.
bowling bowls are pretty bad and selection is worse. i think there is a reason why they keep this place pretty dark.
But very friendly staff and just fun place to hang.
left around midnight and the place was about 90% filled. so a lot of people likes this place. -

Good place to bowl since theyre always having some sort of cheap deal. The workers are cool and fun to talk to. They have many diff type of bowling balls to choose from. This is a good place to go if you're just practicing bowling or if you're a pro. It gets pretty crowded on the weekends and at night, they have neon bowling, which is pretty cool because everything glows in the dark!

2 stars because to me it's very expensive. I suggest you bring your own bowling shoes, because rental is about $5. The place is poorly lit and the balls aren't in good shape. The restroom is beaten up or what i consider poor-average condition. There is a mini arcade on the side, but they only have DDR (dance dance revolution) and air hockey.

(2.5) i think it's asian owned...how do i know? because on a super hot day last saturday, there was no aircon. damn you.
i hardly go bowling...probably twice in my life. i don't mind sticking my fingers into holes and lifting up heavy balls, but bowling is really another kind of beast. how can the same person get a strike and a zero in the same game? all luck? probably. definitely no skillz here, but i digress.
the facility is clean but old. paint is cracked and peeled in a lot of different places but everything seems to work. i mean the balls roll and the pins drop...seems good to me. the restroom is clean and usuable. there is another room with pool tables, a sock vending machine for ill prepared folks like me, and a dance dance revolution machine if you would rather dance hard than bowl. the price is really great though. on a saturday night, we bowled 2 games with shoe rentals for $12.50. i would have loved to bowl a few more games, but the sweaty balls i was holding was becoming too much of an effort to hold. i wouldn't mind going back when the weather cools down.
