You must try the super fries. No more chilli cheese fries. I'm on carne asada fries..

I suggest the asada over chicken tacos. In fact I suggest the asada taco over anything else here at Alfredo's

Let me just tell you its not MY fault if you go here and eat a torta or burrito and blame my review for misleading you on the food. I would not suggest any of those things here but the carne asada taco is def one of my favorite tacos that I've had. And if your not a taco fan then pass up this joint cus the 4 stars I am giving it IS ONLY for the tacos....I think I made myself clear so let me begin.

    1. This place has a drive-thru which is convenient esp when your looking a hot -mess and not tryna get out the car.
    2. Also they take debit cards which is awesome cause I never have cash on me.

    3. The carne asada taco: What I loved was that they are HUGE. I mean almost a burrito size packed with sooo much carne goodness. Its a corn tortilla which i also love cause it adds to the textures of the guacamole and pico de gallo salsa. Now what I add is sour cream and cheese when I get home. To me that the only thing that keeps me from fully loving the taco here. But on the plus side the taco comes packed with so much goodness that it more than enough to make nachos so asks for a FREE bag of chips to go with your tacos and I guarantee you will be filled an satisfied if not  then ur clearly insane.

YUM!  It's a dinky little place with a pot-holed drive through but that doesn't change the flavor of the food!  I keep coming back when I'm in the area and visit their other location in Torrance (not sure if it's the same franchise).  All items I order are satisfying.  The cheese quesadilla is large with gooey cheese goodness, their California burrito is addicting (I order it with guacamole - makes it even better), their carne asada chips with all the fixings are large enough for two people and to die for and the rolled tacos are nice and crispy topped with guacamole and cheese... just talking about all these foods makes me want to go right now!  The last item I tried was the carne asada quesadilla and oh my goodness, it was so delicious that I will be back for more!  In my personal opinion, I believe the way they flavor their beef is what makes or breaks their dishes.  I'm definitely a fan.  Good work Alfredo's!

So disappointed. I live in the area and have passed this place for 2 1/2 years. I read other reviews on Yelp and decided to go. I ordered 2 hard shell chicken tacos- the meat was not seasoned and it didn't taste like chicken. I ordered a carne asada burrito- the shell was nearly burnt and the meat was not seasoned! The beans were very firm, they were not cooked long enough to be tender and the rice was just okay, nothing special. I'm really disappointed because this was my New Years 2012 meal and I threw most of it away. I see why this place is never busy and the parking lot always is empty. Now I know. If the food was as good as other people reviewed it to be...this place would be much busier. Don't waste your time here!

Classic southern california mexican food.  Great horchata, great burritos, and great supernachos.  Very similar to other Alberto's type restaurants.

Great place for burritos. My Sunday machaca was incredible with beef and scrambled egg, and the tortilla was perfectly made soft and chewy with an impeccable lightly toasted flaky, outer golden crust . I don't say this too often (ESPECIALLY since I'm typically not a fan of tortillas at all) but it was on par with some of the better breads that I have had, including some San Francisco sourdoughs.

As important and interesting: This restaurant is deep in South Central. The cashier and kitchen are behind a 2" wall of bulletproof lucite, and everything (including ATM transactions) are all conducted via a rotating lucite daisy wheel that is more commonly seen at high-security bank tellers and all-night gas stations.

Don't let that dissuade you, the burrito that kitchen made was easily one of the best burritos I've had all year.

So their Nacho fries are delicious..... but maybe every other month, they are heavy!
Burrito i had is good as well.  Now they just need to master salsa making.

I moseyed into the near-empty parking lot a little cock-eyed, gun shy from lost years spent consuming inferior tacos.  I have all but given up on LA.  You just can't do a San Diego taco up here.  Sorry.

My optimism waned as I opened the door to silence.  Not a soul waiting.  No one ordering.  Just a lonely cash register with employees buzzing about in the background as though something urgent was occurring, needfully speeding through the motions in a slow economy.  Here it was Friday, perhaps they were hoping the next check won't be their last.

I walked up unimpressed by the bullet-proof glass.  If someone is going to shoot me dead, I'd be happy that my last moments were spent ordering a taco.  The deed done, I waited, and shortly thereafter walked in two men.  One hoisted a beat-up empty water bottle through the pick-up window to be refilled.  The cashier grabbed it without blinking.  This wasn't new territory for him.  The tap water in LA is apparently unsafe, but this artery-clogging cuisine?  Not a problem.

I was still breathing in the intoxicating scent of fresh tortillas when one of the customers nodded to me that my order was ready.  I grabbed my white bag and took off, but unhurried.  Wasn't even tempted to grab a chip as I sat in traffic.

And then I got home and opened my bag.

Let me tell you: now I understand why the employees feel the need to be protected behind all that thick glass.  It will be all I can do not to jump over the counter the next time I go into that restaurant.

    The perfect taco.

    The San Diego taco.

The perfect inauthentic - see Mariela's for perfect authentic - taco.

The crispy, salty shell, tender shredded beef, and two tons of cheese, complimented perfectly with the crunch of icy, freshly shaven lettuce.  Grease dripping down my arm.

With each bite, I looked around my surroundings.  Had I been shot?  Was I in taco heaven?

Had I not completed my meal with tasty refried beans and the most delicious Spanish rice I've had a restaurant in LA - you could tell how carefully it was made, not crusty and overcooked, and flavored with fresh broth - I would have made the 30 min journey to secure another.

Eternal taco happiness, right on Vermont and Manchester.

Now I need to change my headline....

I know that there's a bunch of Alfredo's Mexican around LA and I've only been to another one (Torrance) but this place was quite tasty.  I had a brain fart and got the Carne Asada Burrito and Quesadilla instead of the Carne Asada Fries.  I only saw that on the menu as I was driving toward the pick-up window...

Anyways, the quality of the Carne Asada was great for a fast-food Mexican place.  I really just stumbled upon this place but I didn't know there was a Roscoes and Louisiana Fried Chicken nearby, otherwise I might've gone there.  Definitely worth a stop!!

Great tacos and even better burritos. I'm not a fan of the super fries (fries, cheese, and your choice of meat. It's an awesome idea but it didn't translate well). I'll definitely be coming back.

Their food is pretty much as good as it gets.  i always have either their  carne asada burritos or carnitas burritos, as well as the carne asada plates.  i'm always pleased! the burritos are huge too.. so it definitely fills you up... it's the best drive-thru mexican food place i've ever been to.
