Just a quick reminder if you want to do separate checks - ask for this at the beginning of your meal. Not sure what kind of antiquated system they're using but apparently it's a big hassle for them. When our party of 4 asked our server, he said he needed to ask management first. Yep, it's old school there.

Other than that, everyone enjoyed their meal. I got the chicken cacciatore which comes with a side of pasta or vegetables - I picked spinach which was nice & garlicky. So was the cacciatore. And the garlic bread of course. Yes, this place is a garlic lover's paradise. I can smell the garlic as soon I arrive in the parking lot, and I love it! Portions are generous and I had enough leftovers for lunch the next day.

However, I can't believe I forgot how much I disliked their mixed green salad. I'm mad at myself for ordering it again. They use iceberg and my salad was drowning in Italian dressing. Next time I think I'll do what two of my friends did - order 1/2 portion of pasta ("side order") and start with their delicious caprese salad.

Overall, Alfredo's is still my favorite Italian restaurant in Atlanta.

Because everyone in your party needs to be seated before you receive your menus, make sure all your guests arrive on time.  I arrived 5 minutes before my reservation time, and the table for 13 was ready for me to sit down and start munching on the amazingly decadent, lightly charred garlic bread.  The restaurant also serves half portions, which are sufficient to satisfy the appetite of petite ladies.

Garlic bread. 5 stars.
Lasagna. (I prefer the lasagna at Brio.) 4 stars.
Beef cannelloni. 4.75 stars.
Birthday desserts. 5 stars.

I found the service to be very welcoming, attentive, and cheerful.

Some places don't need shine and glitter to deliver a good experience. And if you've been to Alfredo's, you know that ambiance is not their forte. I don't think this restaurant has been updated once in the past 20 years. But once you sit down and start munching on the tasty food, the tacky acoustic ceiling tiles and old wood paneling fade quickly into the background.

I had dinner here with a large group of friends, celebrating a birthday. They were a bit behind on their reservation time, and it was a little ackward since there is no where to wait other than stacking up in the aisle behind the bar which blocks the path for new folks coming in and working their way to the host desk. We were eventually seated and started working on the garlic bread and pickled veggies placed on the table while we reviewed the menu. The bread is delicious, but make sure everyone at your table eats some for equal opportunity garlic breath-a-lizing.

I ordered the snapper francese, an egg-battered fillet with butter, lemon and white wine sauce, and a side of penne arrabiatta. The fish was delicious, perfectly cooked, and the sauce was awesome. I wasn't a huge fan of the penne, but it was decent although a bit dry.

The service was great. I think these Italian gentlemen must all be the original servers from when the joint first opened decades ago. They know their stuff, are prompt and attentive, and gracious with the birthday boy in our group bringing a platter with a variety of desserts for the table, gratis.

There's a reason why people have been coming here for 20+ years. I'm glad my parents took me here, so I knew. Just go and see for yourself. It's just good. Good prices and good food. Never a disappointment.

This place speaks for its self.  The service is beyond excellent the food is awesome.  One thing I love about this place is its local and everybody knows everybody makes you feel at home.  I've never had a bad meal here.  Who cares if the place looks old I think it adds character to the place I mean could you imagine this place modernized no such thing I love it.

I've been in Atlanta for 6 years, driven past Alfredo's hundreds of times, seen all the positive reviews, but for some reason had assumed it would be the heavy, oily, over-cooked, over-seasoned, Americanized "Italian" food that you'll find in establishments like Maggiano's, The Olive Garden, et al.  Well, I finally decided I should at least give it a chance.  Unfortunately, my instinct was correct.  I can appreciate the sort of worn-down, "authentic" atmosphere they maintain--many of my favorite restaurants are like that, but the food just isn't very good.

The garlic bread was mediocre at best--kind of like a Stouffer's French Bread Pizza with more garlic and no tomato sauce.  I thought the caprese salad was below average as well--served with onions and capers (and no basil) on a wilted leaf of lettuce. I had the Penne Arrabiata for my main dish.  I couldn't tell if the tomatoes were fresh, because the sauce was horribly over-cooked.  It was also very salty and covered in parsley, and I thought the mushrooms and pancetta only made the dish worse.  ***Want a good arrabiata? Simmer a chopped clove of garlic in little olive oil for a minute, then add can of peeled San Marzano tomatoes (or fresh if you like),  some FRESH basil, kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, and crushed red pepper and simmer for 15 minutes or so...not that hard.***
I also tasted the minestrone--not terrible, but it was served luke warm, and the Ravioli Pomodoro--meh.

To me, good Italian food is about simple, fresh, high quality ingredients, cooked in such a way that the quality and freshness of each ingredient can be enjoyed. The seasoning is there to bring out the natural flavor of the tomatoes, pastas, breads, cheeses, etc., not to overpower them.  Alfredo's food has no nuance of flavor, no sense of freshness (despite their claims).

If you are looking for Italian in Atlanta, you'll probably see Alfredo's at the top of many lists--but I caution you--it's not good Italian food...there are better options.  Sotto Sotto is excellent.  Figo, though it's a local chain now, is a quality restaurant at a very reasonable price. Varasano's serves mainly pizza, but he knows what makes real Italian food special.

First of all, MAKE A RESERVATION because you want to eat here. Every restaurant has their bad days I suppose, but I have yet to experience one of Alfredo's. The chicken pesto is wonderful and fresh, each veal dish is excellent (Saltimbocca=A+), the lasanga is tasty, the house salad is like great-grandma used to make, and the bread basket's bounty of toasted garlic goodness is classic delicious.

I have tried almost everything they have and can't think of anything bad. The servers are old eccentric gents out of some kind of Kurt Vonnegut novel set in Bizarro world. One of them looks like he just jumped ship from serving Capt. Jack Sparrow on the Black Pearl. Two earrings and a swashbuckler Depp-style goatee. He was really cool, and one of the best servers I've ever had.

They gave me a piece of their homemade cheesecake for my birthday, and it was nice. It is slightly lighter than run-of-the-mill cheesecake. The tiramisu is a homerun as well.

You need to eat here instead of reading more reviews. Shutdown your computer, get in the car, and have a badass meal for a really good value.
Eat well. Love well. Be well.

God, this pains me to write.  I feel like I have lost a best friend, and I know how this is going to look.  "How can you be so polarized in your update?" you may ask.  I don't know, consider one review for food, and the other for service.  I wouldn't forgive myself if i didn't share this evening's experience with Yelp.

I called on Wednesday to make reservations for the night before Valentine's day.  I figured the chances were slim that i'd be able to get in, but heck, it's worth a try.  I called Alfredo's and was quickly told that they can make a reservation for 9:00PM, and all was well.  Then, suddenly, the skeptical side of my mind started thinking "Did they really take a reservation, or is it going to be bedlam when I show up there on Friday?"

The latter my friends, the latter.  I showed up at 8:55pm.  The place was packed.  I wasn't expecting otherwise, but i'm thinking "i've made reservations, we should be 'ok'".  Oh how it was not ok.  I'm told that a table will be available shortly, I smile and nod.  9:35 rolls around and we're still standing there.  People are coming in and out and things are getting chaotic.  Reservations or no reservations, it seems like everyone's being bunched into the same basket.

Please keep in mind that I am a regular at Alfredo's, and please do not take that to mean that I expect preferential treatment, as I certainly do not.  I figured the fact that they knew me allowed me to at least get an update on how much longer I may have to wait.

I approached the owner of the establishment (Pierre), smiled and asked him if the wait was much longer.

He immediately gets frustrated and defensive and I slowly see things turning ugly.  He starts to get loud with me.  He tells me that it's busy and that everyone has to wait.  At this point I ask him what the point of me making a reservation was, if I still have to wait 40 minutes for a table.  He continues to be abusive and says "What? You expect to come in here and find a table waiting for you?  What do you think this is?"

Hm, well.  Shame on me.  I must have misunderstood what a reservation was.  At this point, I try to defuse the situation by thanking him and shaking his hand.  He reluctantly obliges to shake my hand and says the words I never thought i'd hear "if that's not good enough for you, you can stay or you can leave."

At this point, my heart sunk.  It was like an old relationship coming to an end, right in front of my eyes.  Like an old girlfriend breaking up with you the night before Valentine's day, the pain cut deep.  I promise you folks, never once was I rude, loud or abusive, but I got nothing but diatribe.

I turned around and walked out feeling insulted.  I'll never ever be able to slate the food here, it's fantastic, always was, always is.  My previous 5 star review is a testament of what I think of it.  However, I'll never allow myself to be treated that way at a restaurant.  I'll miss Alfredo's.

Shame.

I ordered the Godfather (veal parmigiana, marsala, and francese) with a caesar salad. The ambiance is quaint/cozy and potentially romantic and the service was courteous and prompt. Dim lights and Frank Sinatra galore.

The food was great. The veal parmigian was cut very thin and had a wonderful crust. The marsala was tender (naturally) and flavorful. I'm not one for francese so I won't rate it. The pasta on the side was nice, a little well done for my taste and slightly salty, but good nonetheless and served with freshly grated parmigiana.

It didn't remind me of Italy, but it did remind me of ol' school Las Vegas with real Italians or a nice NY Italian restaurant. Food in Italy seems to be lighter and have much less salt. I liked the restaurant and the experience and was happy with the reasonable prices, for what you get.

I have been coming to Alfredo's for the last few years. it's the perfect restaurant for catching up with your best gal pals, for a romantic evening with your hubby, for meeting up with friends you haven't seen in a while. The food is AMAZING. It's made fresh and the tomato sauce is the best ever. They serve delicious garlic bread and pickled veggies and olives when you sit down. The half-carafes and carafes of house wine are very good. My favorites are the chicken fiorentine, salmon, and the eggplant parmesan. We went their recently for my birthday and our waiter, Tony, was so awesome! He even brought me a yummy ricotta cheesecake on the house. The waiters are charming, the restaurant is like out of a movie. Try it out if you're looking for amazing Italian food! Yes - make a reservation since this place gets packed on the weekends!

I had heard so many good things about Alfredo's, so I decided to go with a group of friends.  I was kind of skeptic at first, since the building appears to be a little rundown.  The inside of the restaurant is slightly better, although a little dark, perhaps to set the mood.  At first, our server was enthusiastic, and it seemed that he was passionate about his job.  We ordered the garlic bread, which turned out ok.  I ordered alfredo with shrimp, and it was the most bland Italian food I've ever had, not to mention oily.  However the worst was yet to come.  The server gave us our bill and left to attend another table.  He came back, and before even counting the money, he asked, "Where is my tip?."  I was shocked.  Never in my life has a server asked me that question.  As he counted the money and saw that there was a large tip included he said, "Oh, nevermind."  It totally ruined my experience at this restaurant. I will never, ever return.  Your better off going to Maggianos,

Alfredo's is my favorite Italian restaurant in Atlanta.  The food and service are both very good and it's possible to eat well without breaking the bank (try the mussels) .  Reservations are recommended but not always necessary if you're willing to gamble on what the wait might be.

The building and location aren't the nicest in town but maybe that, combined with the atmosphere inside, are what draws people.  You get the feeling that you'd be right at home if you like to sit with your back against the wall (if you know what I mean).  This is helped by the decor, which includes pictures in the men's room of just about every movie and TV mafia character.

Also, if you find yourself all dressed up with nowhere to go, Alfredo's has a nice bar for just sitting and enjoying a cocktail.  They're open decently late on the weekends.

Upon first glance, the place looks like a converted RV trailer or an old 'portable' classroom.  When you go inside, the suspicions are confirmed. (There's a reason why they keep it dark in there!) :)  But they do a good job with covering the wood paneling with interesting maps and pictures, with real candles burning at each table, and opera music playing audibly, but not obnoxiously.

The complimentary garlic bread looked like and tasted like a 'home-job'...but I mean this in a good way.  Heaps of garlic powder, and generously spread with butter...I honestly thought to myself, "Butter covers a multitude of (food) sins..."  There was no subtlety to the flavor of these slices of baguette, and that was perfectly fine with us.

We ordered fried calamari and stuffed mushrooms for appetizers.  the fried calamari was decent (breading was light and crisp), though the calamari itself seemed a bit limp.  Probably taken out of the freezer...and thawed for a bit too long.  Don't get the stuffed mushrooms.  Think TV dinner style hor' dourves.

Our entrees-

1) Scallops with pesto angel hair pasta-  this dish was flavorful, but was a bit too much on the creamy/greasy side- so much so that my wife could not finish it, even though the portions weren't that big to begin with.

2) Linguine with Clams- this dish usually comes with chopped up clams, but since they ran out, they offered to give me clams in the shells with the pasta.  No problem for me.  I'm glad it turned out that way, because 'chopped clams' sounds like it would come from a can... They asked how spicy I wanted the white wine based tomato broth- I said 8/10.  They did a great job with the spiciness (just enough for my head to itch), and the dish tasted great.

For the price, the entree portions were on the small side, which was a bit disappointing.  Had we not had appetizers, our stomachs would not have been satisfied.

Service was pleasant overall, though sometimes our waiter (Carlos) seemed to hover a bit too much.  He also seemed anxious to have us try some wine before our meal, but since we declined for the moment, he took our wine glasses away before we got our appetizers (perhaps assuming that we'd not get any wine at all).  I was considering the new york strip steak, which I would've paired with a red wine...oh well, their loss.

We'll be back here...the next time we crave Italian food (which isn't that often....)but no stuffed mushrooms for sure.

My bf and I enjoyed a wonderful Valentine dinner on the Friday before. We had reservations for 7:00, but we weren't seated until 7:30. We waited at the bar and I enjoyed a glass of wine. The host was so sweet to us. He apologized a couple of times for the wait and told us that our table would be ready soon. He told us he wanted to find the perfect table.

By the time we were seated, we were both famished! When the bread basket came, I thought it was so buttery, but my bf seemed to enjoy it. For starters, I ordered the salad rita and my bf ordered the Cesare salad. Both were pretty tasty. As for the entree, I ordered the clam linguini with red sauce and my bf ordered spaghetti. My entree was absolutely delicious! All the ingredients were fresh and the linguini was cooked perfectly! We polished off my dish and took my bf's dish home. They also included bread in his to-go bag. He was so excited about lunch the next day!

The service and food were both outstanding!. I couldn't of asked for a better night!  This is the best Italian restaurant in Atlanta!

Pulling into the parking lot, I felt I was meeting Tony Soprano for a sit down and some stuffed squash flowers. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to meet the boss. Fortunately, I found flavor worthy of a Goodfellas palate.

From the stuffed mushrooms to the veal and penne rogati,arrabbiata- the meal was a refreshing experience of authentic Italian cuisine. Perfect texture matched with clear fresh flavors made for a surprisingly pleasant meal while surrounded by the crooning of the Three Tenors and Sinatra.

Hard to match this one for ambience and food. Albeit a bit campy, the 1960's decor adds more than a small touch to a great dining experience. Reasonable prices as well. Don't pass this one up....

This is my favorite Italian place in Atlanta. Love it. Loooove it.

It can get a little noisy on the weekends go on a weeknight- great date place.

It looks like a dump on the outside. You walk in and it is full of  tables of old Italian men on weeknights. Look like they are total Mafioso.

The vinyl booths - they put these in when the place was established 34 years ago and never upgraded. Cheap fish tank in the entry way...for some reason though  everything works!

The waiters have been there for years. We're talking like 20 years. Pretty no-nonsense. They like the ladies though!

Whatever you do do not eat the weird pickle things they put down for you to nibble on!!!

As it should be their signature dish the Alfredo is yummy. I usually get a appetizer plate of this. I usually go with one of the specials for my meal. They'll mix and match things up for you as well i.e. lobster ravioli with a different sauce than the one that came with it.

The wine... here's where I have not gotten it right. Don't go with the house carafe of red wine. Just plain old watery table wine. Dig deep on their wine menu.

In summary - great service, great atmosphere, good food.

Be sure to play the Soprano's soundtrack when you roll in. Ask for Rudy; if it's your first visit the 'Godfather' is the best way to try the hand-cut veal.

If you ever find out what all the late model Cadillacs are doing there until 4AM let me know, there has got to be a story there.

Families with small kids should go be a little early it usually gets pretty busy by 8pm.

Not much more can be said than the reviews below besides that the bread is awesome. I eat about 3 loaves of that before I order. This place truly whisks you away to another world when you step in the doors.

I felt like I was walking on to a movie set. There were a bunch of actors dressed in traditional Italian ristorante fashion, complete with maroon vests ... and thick accents. Wood paneling covered the walls and provided the perfect backdrop for the obligatory fish tank behind the bar. No, not some fancy salt water tank -- an old-school classroom-style tank o' fish.

Our server recommended the very good deal of the day, which, it turns out, was actually the good "veal." So we went with what was recommended and ordered veal, prepared two different ways. I ordered the piccata -- medallions of veal sauted in butter, lemon, white wine sauce, and zucchini with capers. They aren't joking about the butter part -- my veal was swimming in it. What? You didn't know veal could swim? It can. Despite the cholesterol, my meal was delicious.

Upon ordering, the waiter asked us which side item we would like. When presented with myriad of options I inquired about his favorite. Without a breath he responded, "You'll see!" He quickly spun around and was off before we could get in another word. He ended up bringing us two types of pasta -- yum!

The light fixtures and suspended ceiling date back at least 30 years (the restaurant first started serving up authentic Italian food in 1974). Eclectic art hangs on the wall. It's nice to know that good things stick around.

I love this place if only for the scenery; truly like being an extra on the set of The Sopranos...."woke up this morning, got myself a gun."

The decor is a hoot and probably original to the 1950s, as are some of the patrons. Not a window in the place - perhaps it's the casino "they'll spend more if they can't tell what time it is" theory or maybe it's to keep you from escaping once they've realized you're behind on your payments on that loan you took out from the owner to pay your gambling debts.

I tell ya, the naugahyde on these booths has seen more action than Lindsay Lohan and you'd swear Frank Sinatra was singing in the lounge instead of just playing through the 30-year-old speakers.

Oh, and the food, right, the food - it's delicious and authentic  (although my Italian mama disagreed, but she doesn't like anything, so take it with a grain of Parmesan). The mussles are amazing and I seriously wanted to drink the juice they were swimming in directly from a wine glass - it was THAT good.

Your waiter is bound to be named Luigi or Mario or Big Pussy - just roll with it and enjoy the most excellent pizon watching this side of the Atlantic. Hey is that guy getting rubbed out in the corner?  Ciao bella!

Honestly, could I throw in one more Italian stereoptype?  I can, cuz I am.

Alfredos is an Atlanta landmark.  It has authentic Italian food like you would find in a great Italian restaurant in NYC.  The waiters are very helpful in recommending a wine or entree.  This is a favorite place of people that appreciate true Italian food.  Their fish dishes, sauces and pastas are the best in Atlanta.  I would recommend the drive to eat at my favorite restaurant.

Located off of Cheshire Bridge Rd. in a seedy part of town full of strip clubs and "adult novelty" stores, Alfredo's isn't much to look at when you first arrive.  But don't be put off!  Inside the nondescript brick building is one of the Atlanta culinary scene's hidden gems.  Plus they have plenty of free parking!

The first thing you notice is how "authentic" Alfredo's looks.  With Italian opera playing softly in the richly colored and perfectly lit dining room, I always feel like I'm on the set of The Godfather or Goodfellas when I walk in.  The bar is on your right as you enter.  It is fully stocked and usually tended by an attentive and knowledgeable woman who's name escapes me as I write this review.  Feel free to arrive early and unwind with an aperitif at the bar because there is always good people watching at Alfredo's.

Let me just start by saying that all the food is good.  Order anything on the menu, but here are some of the items I have enjoyed from Alfredo's.

They are famous for their veal, which is hand cut on the premises.  If that sounds like your thing then try the Padrino - one veal francese, one veal parmigian, and one veal marsala all on the same plate.  First rate!

Also imminently satisfying is the New York Strip - cooked to perfection with a light char outside and a perfect medium rare inside and served with a port wine mushroom sauce.  I'm starting to make myself hungry.

But what I really LOVE about Alfredo's is the fish.  The Snapper Casalinga is awesome!  But I always ask the waiter about the specials.  Occasionally they will offer a Chilean Sea Bass in a white wine butter sauce with capers and sauted portabellas that is so delicious you will lick you plate clean.  I'm not kidding.

I've tasted most of the desserts and can say with reasonable certainty that you will be satisfied with anything you choose.  My favorite is the ricotta cheesecake.  They use fresh, homemade ricotta cheese.  I have never tasted anything like it any place else.  I usually wash down my ricotta cheesecake with an espresso since Alfredo's espressos are perhaps the best in town.

The downside - typically I will spend around $120 for a four-course meal for two with wine.  But you can probably show a little more restraint than I and still come away with a fantastic dining experience for far less if you are on a budget.

Insider Tip:
Ask for a booth when you make your reservation (definitely make a reservation).  Cushy and upholstered in smooth black leather, these booths may be the most comfortable restaurant seats in the world!

Whoa nilly! My wife and I moved to Atlanta last sumer from New Jersey. Ever since, we have been lamenting the lack of good Italian food and cannoli here (see my review of Caffe Intermezzo). We went to Alfredo's last night and all I can say is that Atlanta has gotten a little better. This was an authentic Italian place, the kind you find all over the Northeast. The building is crummy (this is a good thing) (wood paneling, no windows, my grandmother's decor). The staff is into the food. Moreover, they know most of the people eating there and pretend to know the ones they don't.

Now, let me get to the food. We ordered fried calamari and mozzarella caprese as appetizers. AWESOME. The fried calamari was as it should be - not too fried but not two chewy - just right. The fra diavolo sauce that came with it was great. The fresh mozza was good, too. Very, very fresh. I would have been happier if it had some more fresh basil on it, but it was great as it was. For entrees, my wife had the manicotti, and I had shrimp marinara. Both were great. The manicotti were a little too cheesey for my taste, but she loved them (I am not wild about manicotti to begin with). The shrimp marinara was as promised - mildly spicy, but not very. As places like this do, they cook the hell out of the shrimp. They could have gone a little easier on the shrimp, but, as I said, that is not this style of food.

For dessert, we ordered, of course, cannoli - two to be precise (neither of would be willing to share with the other). They were great! The filling could have been creamier, but everyone has their own style, and this definitely constituted an authentic cannoli.

The wine list is not superb, but you don't go to a place like this for an extensive wine list. I had two glasses of barbera, which were very good and reasonably priced at $7/glass. There seems to be ample parking. We got there kind of early and didn't have any trouble. There was also an attendant in the lot to help out.

It definitely gets crowded. When we left around 8pm, there was a long line and it didn't seem to be moving. Get a reservation if you are going to a dinner on Friday!

We will be going back often.

This restaurant had seemed overpriced to me.  It has a pretty clear selling point, and that is to present a wise guy atmosphere (even offering a signature dish called Godfather) with a nostalgic "old school" Italian menu (not the same as authentic Italian).  It does this pretty effectively.  Some of the staff members look friendly but dangerous, the mood is shadily comfortable or comfortably shady depending on how you look at it.  If you've seen Goodfellas well that's what it feels like.  Unfortunately, if this is what wise guy joint's food generally turns out, it looked a little tastier in the movies.

To begin with I am not a fan of the "Old School" style dishes (big sauce, pasta on the over cooked side, signature Americanized Italian dishes that have been around for a long time) so perhaps that's a bit biased.  But even strictly speaking within that style, the sauce is too thin and runny, tomatoes not ripened enough so the red sauce is a bit sour, and the appetizers just okay.  The rolls and the soups are all right.  It's not bad food, but I can't find much that makes this stuff any better than differently themed Maggiano's.  (also Old School style)

If you look at the price it is not cheaper than some of the great Italian restaurants in the city.

For being no where near Italy this place took me back. I felt like once again I was in a smoky restaurant in Rome. Low ceiling, old family atmosphere, candle light, and well mannered excellent dressed wait staff.

The food was divine, portions where available in standard large American size or you could do half portion and eat Italian style.

Of course I went for the half portions. We started our meal with the olive tray delivered directly when seated at the table, followed by warm fresh garlic bread.

Then the real treat began a fresh light melon salad, two half orders of pasta, mine was a great pesto with pine nuts.

Then on to the mains. The Eggplant Parmesan was load with cheese and delicious, with a side of garlic laced spinach.  Left overs even reheated well.  Ohh, not to be missed the was a nice tray of real shredded Parmesan right on the table beside the salt and pepper.

Don't think we stopped there. We pushed on to dessert the Tiramisu just  wonderful couple it with a nice  cup of espresso and I was in my own little heaven.

Defiantly give this place a try. It would make a nice romantic outing.

Most italian restaurants either are dial it in red sauce places that have chicken parm, lasagna, etc. or are upscale with small portions and more inventive dishes.  alfredo's has the traditional american italian dishes but does it very well.  i took my parents there for their birthdays last night and had a great experience.  the atmosphere was just as expected from all the reviews i've read over the years.  the (very italian) waiter was wonderful.  no problems with really anything.  the food was very good but not great.  the overall experience was great

Big big props to Alfredo's! I have to admit that I have always wanted to go to Alfredo's, but for one reason or another never ended up there. When heading to Tara the other night for a 7:15 show we stopped at Alfredo's at 6:15 and missed the dinner crowd by about 15 minutes. We got a great booth towards the back, had an awesome waiter and half-carafe of wine and a very quick, but incredibly tasty meal! Being a big fan of Steak Pizzaiola I had to order it and Steven was fine with sharing it. Considering it is one of the largest steaks I've seen it was  good thing too, we ate several meals off of that steak! The sauce with the nice big mushrooms was great and while very different from the Steak Pizzaiola that I make it was great and the break is just delicious! Definitely a keeper, which everyone, for the most part, knows who has ever been there!

Yes, Alfredo's is one of my fave spots in the diverse ATL restaurant scene. I have friends that prefer Figo over it (Wtf? but we gotta be respectful to our peeps, don't we?) but no, I will always have this place in my heart as the nicest Italian eatery in my soon-to-be former hometown. Special mention to the Caesar Salad...mmmm it reminds me of good, good, creamy Caesar salads from those traditional, wonderful Italian places in Caracas (where you can find REALLY good comida italiana, believe me) and their veal is to die for! They have these tomato-based fettuccine they use as sides to their meats...as simple as they are, they ARE delicious!

Staff is fun, a lot of them are Italian, and some of them will even sing to you. I have been really lucky as the experience (food+service+atmosphere) have always made me happy.

Don't hesitate in stepping in and try this excellent traditional cuccina italiana (fellow reviewer Melissa G. says that you don't even feel like you're in ATL...completely agree.) Oh! And if you like Ethiopian food, Alfredo's is neighbor's to a fine restaurant I'll be reviewing soon.

VERY inexpensive!! I'm from Brooklyn so my family had been looking for good Italian food for a minute. thanks to recommendations, we finally found it! make sure to reserve your table too

Its been over a year since I visited Alfredo's, and I still rave about it.  Alfredo's is absolutely the best Italian food in Atlanta, period.  This place wrote the textbook on customer service.  My wife and I were seated at a four-top table.  While we were in the process of sitting down, two people descended on the table to break down and clear off the two extra place settings.  Our wine glasses were never empty ( I highly recommend the house Pinot Grigio).  The waiter asked me 'What type of pasta would you like?'.  I asked him 'What kind do you have?'.  His response?  'I said, what kind do you want?  We can make it...'

The food was equally as good as the service.  Don't let  the outside of the restaurant fool you.  Alfredo's is a first class establishment all the way around.

Take your wife here for your next anniversary, and you won't be disappointed.

This is also my favorite Italian spot in Atlanta. In my opinion, it is extremely authentic Italian food. The portions aren't huge but it's enough with wine and bread to make you feel full afterwards. Prices are reasonable. Worth the trip just to experience the wait staff and atmosphere.

What can I say, I love this place!  I always look forward to going to Alfredo's.  The experience begins even before you even step into this place considering where it is located.  With all the sleazy strip clubs around, the location for this restaurant is quite awkward but it doesn't matter to me and not to all those that pack in every week.

Once you get into this restaurant, you have Soprano's and mafia type environment.  I have always been seated by the same old fella and served by the same waitor.  This waitor is a trip cause I am afraid to talk to him because he tends to bite your head off; reminds of me of hte Soup Nazi on Seinfeld.  However he is a gentleman and always has nice things to say about the ladies that are with you.

As far as the food, it is excellent!  I wouldn't be giving good reviews the food wasn't good.  I especially like this dish they have which is chicken with pesto.  My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

I love Alfredo's! It reminds me of some Italian restaurant in New Jersey in the 70's...I hope they never change the decor. And the food....mmmmmm! So good...one of the few good Italian restaurants in the city, in my humble opinion. Try the Chicken Francese....you won't be disappointed. And the wait staff is the real deal. Great service.

We've been looking for good Italian food in Atlanta (no offense to fans of the other Italian joints in town!) and this hit the spot.  Good, no fuss food that makes you not care about the ambiance, just about the next bite coming your way.  I had the sea bass (special) with fett. alfredo on the side, and it was deeeeeelish.  People aren't kidding about the bread, and the fried mozzarella is also very tasty.  Friends had the spaghetti bolognese and eggplant parm and were also very pleased.  Loved this place, will definitely be back.

Goodfellas all the way. The waiters are straight from Italy and the wood paneling, hung ceiling tiles and gaudy bar is the tops in Atlanta for Youngstown, Ohio (the real home of the mob) mafia ambiance. The food is excellent.  I think it is a touch on the expensive side for the amount of effort they put into the decor and seedy location. Hey don't get me wrong the sex shops and same sex bars make it great, but I'm pretty sure they don't pay to have them there. Great for big groups. A large group reservation is a must.

I'm not sure the food has much to do with Italy -- at least it is not very  like what I encounter here in Europe/italy, but it doesn't matter. The waiters aren't Italian, either, even though they act like they are. Again, doesn't matter. This place is the greatest!

The vibe here is something of a by-gone era -- the era of the "old man restaurant". The wood paneling, the paintings, the low ceiling, the waiters in tuxedos -- it's all perfect.

The food is basic. You'll pay a bit extra for Alfredos's success, but it's all part of the festive setting.  Reservations are pretty much essential if you don't want to wait. Order the raviolini pomodoro (dill infused goat cheese ravioli with a nice tomato sauce). Go ahead and order wine. Do an appetizer and for sure an after dinner port or cognac. Just do it up. You'll be glad you did.

If you drive by in the middle of the night, people are partying here "by invitation only", I imagine.

This place ain't no fugazi...it's has the googootz to prove it!
Everytime I walk into Aflredo's I feel like I'm back in NYC....but this place reminds me more of Strong Island (Long Island). Eventhough I don't smoke, I miss the smokiness before they prohibited smoking. C'mon, chain smoking and Italian restos go hand in hand. I love peeking into the kitchen and see what the pops are doing...usually dressed in white, smoking a cig, squinty eyes reading the horse racing results in folded up newspaper. Ok, well that's what I like to think.
And the food? Well, anyone who's been knows it's down and dirty old skool Italian grub...not upscale/americanized Italian. So many favorites you can't go wrong...the Padrino (Godfather) veal three ways, Saltimbocca, Linguini w/ white clam sauce, Cannelloni, Linguini Pescattore, Calamari Marinara and last but not least the Scungilli Fra Diavolo. Hey, who doesn't like conch!

Remember, the dress code is casual to dressy, tank tops not allowed. Gold chains and American Crew Gel optional. So all you goombas make sure you bring a change of clothes after your workout at Gold's or Perry will give you an Eye-talian Neck Tie to wear in the back.
Mangia Mangia!
