Review from Mike Z.
When I need to "gets my pizza on," I order from Alfonso's. It's a reliable neighborhood pizza place/restaurant/bar and is a much better option than ordering from Pizza Hut or any of the other chains. It does have its quirks at times; sometimes the service is a bit slow, and I've noticed that their website had been "under construction" for what seems like forever (though you could download a .pdf version of the menu), and is now inaccessible altogether. I've never been provided with a take-home paper menu when I've picked up food I've ordered from Alfonso's via phone, so in the past I've relied on the .pdf file online to see what's on the menu. Now, it doesn't seem I can access that ... so, ordering carryout is currently a challenge for me, and possibly for others.
I've never had a problem with any of the food I've ordered/eaten from Alfonso's. I just stick with the basics - cheese pizza, or pizza with only a few toppings - so I've never been dissatisfied since that's their specialty and they do it very, very well. I've mostly picked up food from there and taken it home. On the several occasions I dined in, I had a fine time and would always consider it the next time pizza was in the cards. As I mentioned (and as did others), the service can sometimes be slow, but I'm not the type to be too picky about that since this is, as far as I know, the only small pizza business on Edgewater Drive and has always been busy when I've phoned in an order or dined in. When I moved to College Park, I asked someone where I could get a good pizza, and they immediately said "Alfonso's!" I would say the same to anyone who asked me that now.
Oh, almost forgot - I've never been sat at the bar inside the restaurant, so I don't have any input about that. I'm assuming it's perfectly fine. I may try it sometime soon to see how it is. If I do, I'll post a comment about it. From what I've seen at the bar, it looks like a normal crowd hangs out there - no drunks or screaming or anything of that sort. This is a fine place to take your children for dinner, even if people are at the bar watching football or anything like that. Every time I go to Alfonso's, I see families seated. The atmosphere is fine here - totally unlike The Friendly Confines in Lake Mary. (See my review.) -

I like the look of the newly-expanded and remodeled Alfonso's in College Park. There is now a fairly large semi-outdoor seating area, and the restaurant is split into almost two separate restaurants, one being a sports bar. I guess it was always that way to a degree, but now it is more pronounced.
The lunch-time pizza special, which includes two big slices of cheese pizza and choice of a soup or salad, is reliable, reasonable and plenty for lunch. On my last visit, the service was terribly slow, but I hope that was an anomaly, as slow service is not usually the case here.Listed in: Studying College Park

I think people may rate this restaurant higher based on nostalgia. I grew up in College Park, cut my teeth on Paco's burritos, and moved back here several years ago. I've spent a total of 22 out of 30 years here. Alfonso's has always been a seriously hit-or-miss place (lately, more like miss-or-hit). Service is always dubious (they seem like they have somewhere better to be), but food can be scrumptious or downright inedible. Sometimes, the bar is a place to have fun and a drink that keeps you ordering more, or a cold place where your cranberry can't find any vodka to spare. The pizza can be doughy and flat, or crisp and addicting.
Our most recent trip involved a "double tall" drink that was entirely juice, sub-par, flavorless wings in a vinegary substance (which is sad, because wings are a dish they had thus far to screw up, in my experience), and an apathetic server. After expressing concerns, no manager was brought, and when we asked to speak to a manager, he was, "Having a busy night." We had to press the issue, and were then told, "I don't even know if he's here." Eventually, what appeared to be a server masquerading as a manager, apologized profusely with a smile on her face, while never even promising (lying?) to address our concerns. (notice, how the manager was a "he" at first, then later became a "she")
We like to frequent independently owned establishments, and are even willing to pay more for the pleasure. When chains are so evidently more consistent, customer service exists, and they show themselves to be *significantly* cheaper, it gets more difficult to justify the decision. I had hoped to hear that the recent renovation included new ownership, but sadly the changes stop once you get past the new layout. -

Great pizza! We mostly ordered take out/delivery but it's even better when you can dine in. Calzones are great and the salads are nice. Draft beer is always cold and service is good.
Alfonso's has come a long way from when I first moved to College Park, forever ago. It's expanded area's include sports bar and an outdoor dining area. Nice in the cooler weather.
Good for lunch, dinner, or hanging out to watch a game. Kids and families are just as prevalent as singles and couples. -

ATTENTION! The best New York style pizza in Orlando is in College Park!! I've been trying to think if I've tried better cheese pizza in the tri-county area and I really don't think that I have. I think the closest would have to be Brooklyn Pizza on Fairbanks. I'm not sure how the toppings are, how the wings are, or even the pasta. I just know that if you are in the mood for quality cheese pizza, this is the place to go. The crust is about as good as you're gonna find, the quality/quantity of the cheese and tomato sauce is perfectly balanced. Service is okay, atmosphere is generic, but the pizza is awesome! And in one of the coolest areas of Orlando too!
UPDATE: Since first trying Alfonso's, I did in fact find better NY pizza and it was at Cornerstone Pizza on Michigan. -

We live in College Park and this is the only place we buy pizza. You cannot beat their New York style pepperoni pizza. I've also had their wings, and they always taste fresh and the sauces have a nice kick to them.
The atmosphere is definitely different than most "posh" restaurants around college park and winter park, but that's why we like it. All varieties of people hang out here, which makes it a more comfortable and laid back atmosphere.
The service has always been quality, but they get VERY busy on Friday night, so expect a long wait for your food if you are there between 7 - 9 on Friday. -

Alfonso's a hit or miss type of pizza joint! As for the sports bar appeal, it works--televisions, hot wings, subs and lots of fried food.
It's also a bit a pricey. Other area pizza places are better and cheaper.
The best thing about Alfonso's is the neighborhood feel. Located right in college park, it's great for people who live or work close. I wouldn't make a special trip to order my pizza from them.
The pizza has been great--cripsy crust, slightly floppy slices, flavorful and just the right amount of grease--come on, it's NY style pizza--the slice needs a bit of grease...
.. . and the pizza been terrible--doughy, little sauce, undercooked.
The service has never been good and I'm pretty easy to please at restaurants.
The last time I went, I went during lunch. The place was moderately busy but I sat myself and waited for about 10 minutes until I went up to counter and asked the cashier for a diet coke. She apologized and brought out my drink. She then asked me what I wanted. Another 10 or so minutes later, my server brings my order without saying a word--totally neglecting my empty glass of diet coke. I returned to the trusty cashier and she called to the server who was across the room...he refilled my soda and brought the check. My other experiences there were of a similar, though not totally that ignorant of customer-server rapport.
The fried mozzarella is yummy and the pizza is decent.
If I'm in college park, I'll most definitely head back for the location is great,well-priced lunch specials and well...I just may hit the pizza slice on the head next time. -

Alfonso's, the sports bar, is still next door, but the pizza restaurant side is now known as Ragazzi's. I agree with the other poster that while the renovations look prettier, they really were ill-advised in that the noise in that place carries badly. Best option, in the right weather, is to dine on their new patio. Last time I visited, the mushroom special pizza was off the menu but I was advised they will still make it -- a combo of three mushrooms that was a favorite. I don't know whether asking telephone information for Alfonso's will still get you the pizza folks or the bar.

DISCLAIMER: the restaurant may have new management/chefs there now--as it has been rumored--but from my past experience:
whenever i go to Orlando i have to hit up Alfonso's for some fresh pepperoni pizza and $1 DRRRRAFFFTTTSSS!!!
not only is Alfonso's great pizza, but it is clearly a place for:
+ cheap beer
+ decent shots
+ located in the amazing neighborhood of college park--with that real Orlando southern charm--just outside of downtown
+ staring at some trashy locals
+ staring at some drunk locals
+ full of friendly service
+ the best place to hit before you go out on the town or to a concert/event for hot food and cold drinks
i use to visit college park quite often a couple years ago and before leaving town i would pick up a large pep-pizza to take back to south florida to reheat in the oven after the drive.
that good. -

Alfonso's is a terrific neighborhood gathering spot for sports fans, families, and non-creepy bar flies. There is always at least one game on the TVs, and daily drink specials are abundant.
But don't go here looking for the most amazing food ever. Since the word pizza is in their name, I assume it's something Alfonso's is particularly proud of, but I find it to be very basic. I've had both regular and white pizzas here, both of which are average all the way. Salads are of the iceberg, cherry tomato, and sliced red onion variety. Garlic and garlic cheese breads are above average in flavor but basic in execution. You generally can get a great deal on a bucket of beer, and even the regular draft prices are quite reasonable.
I went to Alfonso's a lot many years ago and remember it being better. I heard a rumor the previous owner was bought out by Anthony's in Thornton Park, which I have always found to be just average as well. It's a shame, because Alfonso's is conveniently located and has a relaxed, easy atmosphere. -

Always an enjoyable meal. Had a meatball parm, and it's one of the best in the area. I'm from the Philly area, and good hoagies are difficult to come by in Orlando.

I understand at one time, this place used to be amazing, given the reviews written on the walls. However, when I went I found it not to be the case. My slice was only mediocre and lacked any sustenance.
The Wings on the other hand, are decent enough. They have an interesting selection of sauces and and Wednesday's is all you can eat. Mind you, these aren't incredible wings, but will do the job if you are on a budget.
Inside, the bar is popular, but found the TVs a bit of a distraction. -

Great place that has changed owners, and staff, over the past 9 years but is performing to the best of their reputation. Pretty much. Prices increase, but such is life. Pizza, esp. the white and combinations, are great. Calamari, calzones and some items are good choices also. And the greek salad....
Service can be slow, but usually very good and friendly. Sports bar, but family friendly.
Drink prices are still pretty darn good. -

Alfonso's is great for take-out pizza and wings. Always get a white pizza with ham on it. I'm never dissappointed. Their wings are top-notch as well.
Dining inside, it's pretty much a bar atmosphere. Sports on the TV's etc. We mostly use them for take-out. Good stuff. -

Love the location, vibe and taste of the food, but the service and portions have gone in the toilet since the remodel/addition. Been here on 3 different occasions and they've screwed up the order twice and waited over 20 minutes for a salad. Six bucks for a small Greek salad with 1.5 pepperocinis, 2 olives and a sliver of onion is neither attractive, or fair. Could be so much better but is sliding into mediocrity.

I've always been a fan of Alfonso's but it was old and desperately needed to be updated. I guess some people call that character but with so many nice places around, you have to keep up or you'll get left behind. I had high hopes for their renovation plans but sadly, I think they completely missed the mark with their improvements. The old place used to be two rooms...one was bar lots of high top seating and the other was a smaller room with booths and a few tables but together, they formed the restaurant. The new addition is a larger room with booths, tables and a small bar but the older room and bar remain creating two separate restaurants. The older bar apparently serves light bar food while the new addition serves the full menu. The result is that seating space actually doesn't seem to have increased at all and may have actually been decreased. There is the addition of outdoor seating which helps but inside I think there is less. The new addition is very bare bones...all hard surfaces, bright lights and lots of noise. There isn't any character to the new place at all. Throw in a few kids (which there were lots of the night I went) and the place is noisy and not inviting. I guess maybe they kept the old bar to serve more as a place for adults but last time I checked, adults like pizza too. The whole thinking behind their design seems flawed.
All that said, the food is still good but I'd recommend you get take out. There are so many other places that offer good pizza with a comfortable environment. I think the much needed remodeling at Alfonso's actually did more harm than good. -

Since we live around the corner, we usually order our pizza from here. They are more costly than the chain restuarants but is worth the price. We have really like everything we tried. I am a big fan of the hot wings, although not very hot. They are bigger than most and have a good flavor. The pepperoni pizza and calzones are very good. Don't miss out on the fried mozzarela, either. Mmmmm

Stopped by today and as usual it was pretty good. You may notice in the next few weeks and or months that they are moving into the additional part of their building and with that they are changing the name to Ragazzi's Pizza of College Park. Same Owners just a new name. I asked my server and he wasn't really sure why the name change. Just wanted everyone to be on the lookout if they can't find Alfonso's

Ate some great wings at Alfonoso's last night. Nice selection of wing sauces: mild, medium, hot, teriyaki, Caribbean jerk, garlic, etc. All you can eat wings on Wednesday nights. Alfonso's is great because the bar section is covered with TVs, but there is a separate dining area. Great selection of beers, including Peroni. I saw five people head straight for the bar.
