Last week someone brought a Red Velvet Cake from Alfonso's to my house and it was Excellent! The cake was moist and the icing was the perftect balance of sweetness to compliment the cake.
This weekend we had to go to Staten Island for a party so we stopped in and bought a Yellow cake with Chocolate mouse filling that was topped with Chocolate Ganache. It was a huge hit at the party. It was a rich cake that you couldn't have too much of but that one little slice was perfection! -

I believe in trying cupcakes anywhere I see them offered. It's one of those things I must do -- even right before my wedding, I was eating cupcakes more than the average person.
I saw they served cupcakes here and my family wanted to introduce my now husband to some traditional Italian cookies.
We bought a cookie platter (heavy on the cannolis) and three cupcakes.
Red Velvet is my go to cupcake. Any bakery worth a damn will try to make a top notch red velvet. The combination is classic, the recipe can seem simple. Well, this cupcake was terrible. The cake was dense, poorly mixed, overly sweet. The frosting was sickeningly sweet. We couldn't finish this cupcake because it was so terrible.
Oreo wasn't any better. It took three people to try to even put a dent in that cupcake. It was horrendous. The cake was just as dense and extra sweet (with NO MOISTURE) the red velvet but the frosting was worse, if you can imagine. It's a dense, extra sweet frosting that requires CHEWING. I'm serious. I wish I could forget eating it.
The only reason I give them two stars instead of one star is because their cookies were OK. I'm not jumping for joy about them -- I've had WAY better -- but they were OK.

I received a cookie plater from this place from a patient with all sorts of delicious cookies( my fav was the 3layer cookie) I brought this plater to my mothers house for thanksgiving to share the gift with everyone(even though I wanted to eat them all by myself)and my brother brought another plater of cookies from a diff. Bakery. I held up one of my 3layer cookies to one of his 3layer cookies n mine was almost triple the size n tasted 20times better. I love the treats that come out of this place it's just so fresh n scrumptious. Wow I haven't used that word( scrumptious) since I was five.

Best strawberry shortcake EVER. Only problem is, it's off of Victory Blvd and traffic sucks.
