Alexis K Salon is awesome and well worth every visit. I've been going to Claudia since November for my brows. I have been waxing my own brows for the past 10yrs..... Yikes, after looking at Claudia's brows I'm so mad no one told me any better. It's been a process but they look better and better each visit. Thanks so much Alexis K. Also, anyone saying that it's not worth it needs to have patients, your brows didn't become a "hot mess" overnight. It takes time!!

Alexis K in Solana Beach earns one star out of five. Here's why. During my first appointment they shaped my brows and curled my lashes. It was horribly expensive -- nearly three times what I've paid at better browtiques in Chicago, LA and NYC. The lash curl didn't last a day. After several calls from me, Alexis K finally offered to redo the lash curl. During that return visit I discovered they had overcharged me for my first visit (I would never have known had I not called with a customer service issue). Shocking. Today I decided to give Alexis K another try. I was running about 20 minutes late due to the pouring rain and I called to let them know. They told me that the service provider had ALREADY(!) left *and* THAT THEY WERE CHARGING ME A "NO SHOW FEE." Running late due to inclement weather (downpour + traffic) is not "a no show". I was late and I called to let them know. If they ever answered their phones or listened to their messages they would know I called twice (the first time I left a message). I'll be contesting this charge with my credit card company. P.S. Alas, the second lash curl also didn't last. Waste of money. Alexis K's lash perm solution is either diluted or defective. My previous lash curl was done by Exhale Spa (they call their service, "Urban Eyes" and it was outstanding).

I had been growing out my eyebrows for several months just so that I could get them perfectly shaped by someone who really knows what they were doing. I read all the good reviews about Alexis K on yelp and also learned that she was previously trained by Anastasia S. of Beverly Hills (where I've gotten a great eyebrow waxing several times in the past). The first time I went to Alexis K, she told me herself that I needed more hair on my eyebrows and talked me into by LiBrow for 150 bucks. I was use that and continue to grow out my brows and come back after I got more growth.
I came back to see her a couple months later and regretted it. The process was painful and left my skin very irritated for several days afterwards. The shape was not defined nor did it complement my face. I could have done a better job plucking at home. When I got in the car and was able to get a better look at myself I saw that they pencil that she had used a color that made my brows look unatural because it did not go with my brow color or hair color. She didn't even use brow gel on me. Went to Alexis' new location in Solana Beach today for brow wax and glycolic peel.
I FEEL LIKE A NEW WOMAN!
After having a baby, my primping routine was axed due to lack of time and energy, and well, caring. Alexis just slapped some pretty back into me! My skin feels wonderful after the glycolic - it's a quick 10 minutes and you are good as new! Not uncomfortable at all (as some peels can be). Plus she did a stellar-as-always job on my brows.
I'll be back for the Diamond facial (I think there's a b.o.g.o 1/2 off special for the month of June) to keep going with getting my skin back on track.
Also learned about the 'feathering' treatment for brows today. Sort of like tatooing (same techniques) but it's demi-permanent and not as harsh looking. They said that it requires touch up every 2 or so years. I've always loved the idea of not having to pencil in my brows every day...it'd save so much time in getting ready routine...ask my daughter - I (aka 'she') definitely need it!! Looking forward to learning more about it and hopefully giving it a try...

What a waste of $40. I am picky about eyebrows. I like my thick and full, but every time I get them waxed they are done way too thin. I feel like the world wants me to have unnaturally thin eyebrows, and this place was no exception. I chose to go here because of something she said on her website about how she thinks thicker eyebrows look better. Apparently Alexis doesn't train her staff to think like that also because Brianne waxed and waxed and tweezed and tweezed. I actually cried when I left.

BEST PLACE IN TOWN! Being in the business I have had many treatments and brow waxes in my day. It is always nice to be pampered but it is even better when you walk out actually feeling more beautiful. I can honestly say I had NO IDEA eyebrows could look so good and make such a HUGE difference in your appearance.
I also rec'd a treatment from Julie. She is an expert in her field and I would not go to anyone else. She will do what is right for your skin and your skin only. If you have a place you are going now CONSIDER A SWITCH and visit the gals at Alexis K. -

Everyone kept telling me my eyebrows were too thin and out dated so I decided I wanted to have them reshaped. But when asking for referrals people were pointing me towards nail salons or little hole in the wall places. I continued to ask around until a friend of mine told me about Alexis K. The drive was a bit far for my but I was willing to give it a shot.
The drive was definitely worth it! Claudia has done an amazing job reshaping my brows. Not only was she gentile and professional, she explained to me what she was doing, and how they are supposed to look. This way I can maintain them correctly between visits.
Now, my brows have grown in and look amazing. She even tinted them for me since they are very light. Thank you so much Claudia! I look like a different woman and I LOVE it!!!!! -

I have gone to Brianne many times and there isn't anything I would change about my experiences. My brows were a mess. Brianne and Alexis were very encouraging that over time they would grow in and be perfect. They were right. My new brows have changed my look for the better. I don't know what I would do without them. After reading other reviews about Alexis K I am pleased to see that others feel the way I do, except Kristian G. If you keep getting your eyebrows waxed and you don't like them then maybe you should do them yourself and maybe you wouldn't leave a place crying. Pretty funny. I'm sure Alexis' girls all do each others brows and they are all how she explains she like them on her website. After scrolling down and reading other reviews you are the only one that has something negative to write. People drive along way to see Alexis and her girls including myself because they are the best! instead of writing bad reviews and insulting Alexis about her business and girls DO THEM YOURSELF maybe that will occupy your extra time you obviously have instead of writing garbage on the Internet.
I love you guys and with the exception of one bad egg so does everyone else! Keep doing a great job. See you girls soon! -

I didn't have Alexis as my brow shaper, I had her protegee, Christie, who was very nice and informative but doesn't have the same experience that Alexis has. Christie charges $30 while Alexis charges $40. I think I should have waited to see when Alexis would be available and pay the extra $10. Granted my brows are hard to deal with, I had at least hoped for better results.
Service: Christie was extremely nice and easy to talk to. She gave me some great information on where to grow out my brows and products that help with brow growth. However, I didn't leave with symmetrical brows even after powder was applied. I was hoping that after the wax and shaping, she could at least make my brows look fuller and even but this was not the case. Although I didn't believe the technical service was that great. She did provide great customer service and had perfect brows of her own.
Location: It's in beautiful Del Mar but drive slow cause the house is pretty easy to miss. Their are some spaces available for parking, but not a lot. Limited street parking is available too. Don't be fooled by the different signs outside. There are about 3 different businesses at this house. As long as you have the right address, you're in the right place.
Final thoughts: I would say that if you're really picky about your brows or have hard to maintain brows, wait for Alexis. It might be worth it. -

Even though my eyes were closed, I knew I was in good hands as Alexis expertly waxed and tweezed my brows back in shape. She cleaned up and shaped my brows assuredly and quickly, all the while explaining what she was doing and how to maintain my brows (as I'm currently in a 6-month brow rehab!). She also had me look in a mirror at the end of the service and gave me a tutorial on how to artfully define my brows with powder and gel.
After just one visit, I noticed a huge difference! I am quite impressed with how much well-groomed brows can enhance your facial features! Her fee is a bit higher than others, but I feel like I'm getting my money's worth. I don't know how she does it, or whether she's using an awesome wax, but I noticed that maintenance/plucking between services is minimal after going to Alexis. I'm so glad I found this superior service so close to my home! -

So I'm not going to say that I have tiny drag queen eyebrows, but let's just say I never met a pair of tweezers I didn't like... I've been growing out my eyebrows so that for my wedding I'd look more "beautiful bride" and less "Priscilla Queen of the Desert" and I was scared when I went to Alexis that she'd have too little to work with to shape them. I was wrong.
She did a great job of cleaning up the stray hairs and shaping what is left of my brows. She started a rehab plan with me so they can grow out beautiful before I cruise down the aisle. Overall, I am very happy with how they look and completely trust her to help me thicken them up and shape them beautifully. Thanks Alexis! -

I have been going to Alexis K for years and consider myself a devote.
After I left my appointment today I remembered why I consider Alexis K the only place to go for your aesthetics. (I also thought it was a good time to give not only my personal review but my testament as well)
Their front desk is not only friendly but helpful and personal, thank you Krista! (You always now what I like and your recommendations are flawless)
My facials have been not only been relaxing and enjoyable, but most importantly beneficial. My skin has never looked better.

I would (and have) follow Alexis anywhere...she is seriously the best at what she does. My brows were a disaster before I started going to Alexis, and she helped transform them! She has a unique ability to look at your face and know the perfect way to shape your brows. She also does a fabulous job on getting rid of my mustache in a quick and painless way. (I'm a bit of a chicken when it comes to trying new things, and Alexis has never steered me wrong.) Her recommendations for skin care, other products and new services for me to try (like eyelash tinting) have always been great!

I have been going to see Alexis for almost two years now. I happened to hear about her from a lady that did my nails. I could not have stumbled upon a more talented and gifted woman. Alexis is truly an artist! I look back at pictures of myself from years back and am shocked at how thin and uneven my brows were despite the fact that I was seeing who I thought to be "good" brow artists. Now, my face looks different, my eyes look different and I get compliments all the time. Alexis is also very consistent, and I find that to be rare in the beauty industry. I am 100% faithful to Alexis and will not let anyone else touch my brows. I even refuse to tweeze between appointments! I would follow Alexis anywhere and can't sing her praises enough. She is knowledgeable about the industry and clearly passionate about what she does. In addition to her expertise, she is kind, warm and always makes you feel like she has set aside time especially for you. I just love her!
