ABC Alexis Baking Co is delicious!
Ok, so I learned about this place from that silly show In Wine Country with that horrible host, but it turned out to be amazing!
It's a locals place, nothing fancy, but they use the freshest ingredients!. I had the Crème Brule French Toast, yep, that's what I said! Every bite was like heaven but man, was it rich! My bf had the Eggs Benedict and he rated it a 10 and he's got hollandaise sauce running through his veins.
I also loved the bathrooms! Hilarious! I got up to the doors and saw a donut painted on one and an éclair on the other....uh, I choose the donut...once I got in, there was a slice of pizza painted on the wall and said "Yes, you are in the right bathroom" Love it!

I've had Alexis' chocolate caramel cake for my birthday every year for the past 10 years. It's one of my favorite things in the world!

As a bakery, ABC far surpasses any other in the area. Breakfast is good, too, but nothing amazing- although they do have a talent with oatmeal.

I wouldn't suggest dining in their loud, crowded restaurant area. I like to pick up a hot breakfast and something sweet for later and find somewhere else to eat.

This place is awesome- not to mention, Alexis made my wedding cake...apricot pistachio.  It is incredible.  Lunch is delicious, but always leave room for dessert.  Or get dessert first.  Or get dessert to go. Just get it.

ABC is great! I am always impressed by places that keep their menus simple; they tend to do a better job with their fare. ABC makes incredible sandwiches on focaccia that are pillowy and light. I usually have the Caesar salad for lunch with the homemade croutons.  A great place to go for lunch, but not really sure about breakfast as I am not big on eating traditional breakfast food. The "treats" are amazing. Don't miss the lemon bars and indulge yourself with a cappuccino while you visit with your companion, or join the "community" table and chat with the locals.  This is Napa at its best. Thanks Alexis!

As a bakery, their cakes, cookies, bread, etc. are all delicious, but what really sets them apart is that they have the best breakfast / brunch on Sundays in the area with their expanded menu on Sundays. Their eggs benedict is absolutely nuts. Frequently have one-time specials, particularly with pancakes or french toast, but their breakfast dishes overall are superb, particularly anything with eggs.

For lunch on the weekdays, they have much slimmer pickings although it's still tasty. Their hamburgers are very good even if they might be too simple for some. But it's the first burger I've had where the buns actually command attention despite the meat being very tasty and the cheese. No fries, just a Caesar salad. It's actually the best burger I've had if you want a "clean" burger where all the burger ingredients share equal billing whereas most burgers, even the gourmet ones, tend to overwhelm you with *something*.

But like people have said, the service is the weak link especially when they're busy. And the seating area is small for the amount of business they get on the weekends.

But I'd crawl over broken glass for those eggs benedict.

I've got some pics of breakfast at:

Cute little place...but I'm not sure about the 4 and 5 stars. The Smoking Cat is WAY better ambiance. I had food at Alexis (scrambled eggs, toast and potatoes--plus orange juice) and pastries at Smoking Cat, but the pastries were better than the breakfast.

ABC staff was nice, but not genuinely so as they are at Smoking Cat. It was expensive too, for not being a restaurant where you have a server.

My friend had coffee and she said it was "okay."

I'm reviewing just on the food, as I didn't have any baked goods, but without the pastries, I would say ABC is good, but not FABULOUS.

We had our wedding cake made by Alexis Baking Company and was absolutely astonished from all points of view: delicious taste and amazing presentation.
My husband was in touch with Alexis and we just decided to give her the freedom of creating whatever she thought would fit our wedding; the result was a very original white square wedding cake in the shape of presents boxes with ribbons of white chocolate and fresh strawberries inside which accommodated very well our desires and crazy cake toppers made by my talented husband.
So anyway, if you have your wedding on the neighborhood don't hesitate to try Alexis Baking Company.

So my friends and I head up to Berkeley for a nice weekend trip. We have a blast in bars and enjoy the company of old friends. The next morning we head up to Napa for some wine tasting. Our tummies were filled with hunger pains and no one of us were all too familiar with Napa and all it has to offer. So we drive into the downtown area and stumble upon Alexis Baking Company. It was a good discovery, we waited less than 10 minutes for a table on a busy Sunday morning. The coffee they brought out was quite flavorful, I had the Chilequilies with eggs, wheat toast and a fruit bowl. Amazing... simply amazing.  It was like I died and went to heaven. One of my all time best breakfasts. A.B.C. you know how to do breakfast right!

I went in for breakfast and waited 15 minutes for the girl at the counter to take the orders of the two people ahead of me, by the time she got to me it was 2 minutes past the breakfast time cutoff and she told me I had to order lunch. I left, that is absolutely ridiculous! I hear the food is good but I will never try it.

I'm so glad that we went here for breakfast!  I had the blueberry buckle, which is pretty much like a super-moist coffee cake loaded with berries and plenty of crunchy topping.  The fruit cup was over-priced, but had a nice variety including some yummy ripe stone-fruit.  The chai latte was creamy and delicious.  Overall, I would highly recommend this bakery.

Great burgers, great baked goods.

Service could be a little better at times, hence dinging them one star...

Overall, it's a fun good place with good food.

Another good place with similar food and atmosphere is Gordon's in Yountville.

It's good, but not worth the frequent 20+ minute wait for weekend brunch/breakfast.  For some reason it seems to be this magnet for the Napa yuppie/soccer mom/upscale SUV/montessori type of crowd.  I have to admit that the dishes are generally very good (especially the huevos rancheros & the lemon ricotta pancackes), but the service can be spotty at best; of course it all depends on who's working that day and whether or not their new piercings and tattoos are interfering with their ability to get you a cup of coffee in under 10 minutes.

Sorry, was I rambling?  Oh well.  Block off 90 minutes for breakfast on a Sunday, try the huevos rancheros, and decide for yourself.

Excellent Breakfast. I'd expected the service to be great, after reading the reviews and seeing that usually it was on the busy weekends that the service was sub-par, but indeed I can see what everyone is talking about. Even as dead as the place was that morning, they were only so-so.

At least the breakfast itself was great! =)

Alexis Bakery Cafe has my favorite muffins and baked goods I've found in Napa! I will drive to great lengths for the perfect pumpkin muffin, so I know what I am talking about! They also have really good lattes and coffee drinks. Not to mention the staff are all extremely nice and accomodating. I haven't tried the sit-down breakfasts yet, but it seems like a very popular spot, so I want to try it out soon.

The new Cocoa Cafe at COPIA also features items from ABC so is worth checking out!

The only place I go for breakfast in Napa. Of course never on the weekend, just midweek. It is waaaaay to crowded on a saturday or sunday. Service is horrible most of the time, but once and a while you will get a good person. Once they forgot my order and I sat for a good 25 minutes and then reminded them( I was reading a book and didn't realize that much time had passed, although my tummy was getting pissed). They had forgotten to take the order into the kitchen!
The "fresh squeezed oj" is always lukewarm. They should really have it on ice.
The baked goods in the case have really never impressed me. Maybe they have gotten better in the past few years, but it doesn't seem like there is very much care put into them.
Don't miss the breakfast sandwich or the pancakes. Kind of pricey for what they are but seriously SO GOOD!!

I can't say enough good things about ABC.

They have bread, pastries, cake, esprseso, breakfast and lunch.

The huevos rancheros is DIVINE.  Its the best huevos rancheros I've had in my life. Pancakes are the best I've had in my life too.  I realise I sound very dramatic, but I'm being very serious.   The ice coffee here is the best too.  They use ice coffee ice cubes for iced coffee.  Genius!

Flat out the best deal in the Napa Valley.  This is where the locals actually go and the food is amazing and atmosphere is casual and great.  They are also the best caterer in Napa for any meal of the day.  If you want to meet a winemaker, go for lunch a weekday.  There will likely be several there.

ABC has a lot of good things to eat.  I was a regular for years, but after a while it got a bad vibe.  I noticed a lot of employee turn over and lack of cleaning of the dining area, so I got grossed out.  I love the bathroom signs.  There is no man and woman or hen and rooster, but a donut and an eclair.  It is funny!  The chocolate cakes here are the best ever and their hamburgers are also great.  They are incapable of poaching an egg hard.  The self-seating at the tables can cause problems and make the vibe worse.  This area is great for people watching because there is a liquor store a couple of doors down.

I am a local and I eat here when my sister want's so...but I don't really like it.  The counter service is just bad.  Half the time when I get my toast & coffee they are luke warm...the whole thing makes me crabby.  I upped my vote to 4 stars BECAUSE our family always gets its birthday cakes here.  My mom loved the Carrot Cake, I love the chocolate caramel cake...yum, yum, yum.

i concur w/ wakako...the iced coffee w/ the coffee ice cubes is such a great idea!!  that way, your iced coffee is not diluted when the ice melts!!  the breakfast sandwich on potato bread is delish, b/c the bread is fresh and soft.  they have great muffins and lemon bars here as well!
