I love the gazpacho here! Too bad it is only seasonal.
So, the 3-star rating is, I suppose, valid. But I've gone enough, and support the business as a hole, I think it truly deserves a 3.5-, or even 4-star rating.
Service has always been hit or miss- but generally they are on the friendly to super-friendly side. The Gerek salad is huge and delicious with grilled chicken on it. And I agree the Greek Pizza is good. A few of the pitas are tasty.
It's not a super fancy restaurant, although it perhaps is somewhat trying to be (to fill in the void left by the venue's previous inhabitant - Aria). But it's a decent place for a slightly over-priced, nice, casual (or business) lunch, or an early dinner with friends after work downtown.
Oh, and just a word of caution: the bathrooms are located through a mysterious hallway that takes you elsewhere in the building. Easy enough to find. Just a little weird the first time you get up to go and expect it to be on the other side of the first door... -

This restaurant may be a sort of food-industry missing link - I think it represents one step in the devolution of a nice restaurant into a diner.
Here, at least, the food is one of the last areas to atrophy. Alexandria has hung onto an interesting menu, as well as a chef skilled in preparing the selections well. These are Alexandria's saving graces, and will result in my return business as well as my recommending it to others. Also in its favor is the spacious dining room, divided into sections to accommodate large parties in semi-privacy.
However, they have lost a skilled waitstaff (ours displayed time-management issues, a complete unfamiliarity with the food, and a reluctance to seek clarification from the chef - but would when urged) and all pretensions of professionalism (all sorts of random and maintenance-type behavior by the staff happened around us). The low-rent tables and place settings, and flaky sound system clash noticeably with the interestingly configured dining room, and nice walls, floors, and permanent decor pieces.
An educated and better restrained staff would do wonders in putting this restaurant on the correct evolutionary path, even if nothing else is addressed. -

The service at Alexandria's is quite possibly the worst service in Rochester. I don't care if they were "busier than usual" during Jazz Fest, but they need to keep a freakin' list of who comes into the restaurant first so they get seated in the right order--especially if I am sitting at the bar and spending money while I wait. There is simply no excuse for service that overlooks this.

Yeah... I have to third the Three Star rating. The Greek Pizza is good, and I like their calamari salad... but other than that, I think this place is kind of a bust. And you can't be in a hurry when you come here, cause even if the place is empty, the food's taking a while a to come.
