I love the new Alexander Valley Bar at Medlock Ames. Its sort of the local, industry hangout. The drinks are all great. They use fresh herbs from the garden for many of them. Local brews on tap, good prices.
The furniture is all vintage. They have a photo booth inside that just adds another element to the scene for groups or couples. The patio is great, with several tables that look out into the beautiful Alexander Valley, its the perfect way to end a day of hard work or wine tasting.2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

I didn't know what to expect now that the folks at Medlock Ames winery took over the spot. It was a great old local dive bar, replete with a stuffed boar's head over the back of the bar. I figured they would change it somewhat and they did. It is no longer a dive bar/store but rather a tasting room/bar. I went on their opening day last Saturday. Ames Morison (winemaker) was there pouring the 4 wines. $12.50 for the taste of four paired with some nice nibbles. Tasting room is beautiful, modern yet rustic. The bar/speakeasy is not open yet, but we got a tour and it looks fantastic...has that old saloon feel to it...it's no longer a dive bar, but does have some character to it...will definitely be back to check it out along with the patio area once it's complete. Wines were very nice, especially the Sauv Blanc and Merlot. Staff was very nice too! Overall I think they did a nice job of updating/modernizing and yet still preserving a bit of history. Check it out!
