48 reviews for Alexander Pope Salon
I have been an Alexander Pope customer for some 5 years now. For most of those years, I've been with my preferred stylist, Aly. I have developed such a meaningful relationship with this salon that I've included them in my annual Christmas gift list. My husband, who laughs whenever he sees me pick out gifts for my stylist and the other employees, is convinced that I'm likely to write this salon as a beneficiary in my will over my children.
He is probably right. Alexander Pope works hard to give me the hairstyle I want, even though my choices over the years have been not so wise. I recall one time when I asked for the Jennifer Aniston long hair look and everyone in there convinced me to go for gentle curves instead to complement my face. I am now convinced that they probably saved me from much embarassment.
I'm sorry to see all the one star reviews! I have been to this salon just once, to see Phoebe. After my stylist of 5 years moved out of town, I have been dissatisfied with every hair stylist I've been to, until now! She made fun of me for cutting my bangs so unevenly, and did an amazing job making my hair look normal, if not amazing. I will be returning to her in the future, and relieved that my search for a decent stylist is over. Also, at $50 she's a total steal in comparison to other salons I've been to. I've heard that Allie is good as well...
.... where to begin.
Just isn't a place I'd take my dog for a trim.
One lil' star for existing on my block.
The 5 stars is for Kaitrin, stylist to the stars. Well, to me. And I'm a fXXXing (tm Nobu K) star on Yelp. DON'T TELL ME OTHERWISE.
I have a sad tale of woe as my beloved hairdresser died. I went back to the YSL counter at Bloomies to find out Olga's recommendation for a new hairdresser as she was the one who told me about Ella, the dead one, in the first place, so she tells me about her new guy, $90 a cut, but I suck it up and go a few times, find him nice enough but wedded to the idea that I will use a flat iron (hahahahah what the fXXXX??? not gonna happen). Then I saw a woman at Trader Joe's on College who had a fantastic haircut and color but I have a colorist I love already thank you very much that is not my problem. So I get the pretty lady's stylist info and bang, there you go, $60 a cut, making it worth a detour to Oakland.
YEAH Kaitrin.
And thank you, since all I can do is sit down and mutter "I don't look at magazines and I have no clue what is in style or what would look good on me but I need wash and go, you figure it out".
If you want someone reliable to cut your hair, don't make an appointment at Alexander Poop. They have cancelled on me twice. The first time, they cancelled 10 minutes before my scheduled appointment. They called my cell phone while I was on the way to my appointment. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL! A lot of salons have a 24 hour cancellation policy or they will charge your credit card. Obviously they don't have this policy b/c they can't adhere to it.
The second time they cancelled, was a week before my appointment to get my hair done for a wedding I was in. The original appointment was for 11am. They called me and told me they would reschedule me for 3pm - as if they aren't time constrants on the day of a wedding. I had scheduled the appointment a month prior to the wedding to be certain that I could schedule a time that worked and 3pm definitely did not. I ended up going to Sarah @ 17 Jewels. She was absolutely professional and accomadating. Bye bye Alexander Poop. Hello 17 Jewels!
They were a good salon but about half of the staff has moved to Seven Salon down the street so I like it better there.
Nice looking place for sure but if the talent has moved, I have to follow!
The 5 original stars were for Michelle only and now that she's no longer here, I want to set the record straight. In the 3 years of my patronage here, the salon itself never stood out for me in any way. The front desk is usually rude or indifferent at best and the stylists all seem rather nervous and unhappy. A negative vibe permeates the place.
So glad Michelle moved.

Back in college when I couldn't afford therapy, I used to use my hair style as a way to "renew"… Read more »
The owner of this establishment messaged me and requested that I try Alexander Pope again, after a horrifying hair disaster, with one of their former stylists.
( I have been informed that she no longer works there...one appointment too late for me.)
Anyone who knows me, would know that changing my opinion is like trying to sway the tides, but I think all of us deserve a second chance at one point or another.
I still feel that Alexander Pope should have comped my haircut and color disaster, so I will never return for hair services, but I did go in for waxing with Elizabeth, in my effort to give the salon a second chance.
Elizabeth is wonderful. She was professional, thorough and has a soothing bedside manner. I would definitely return for any skincare and waxing service with Elizabeth, and I think she is a great addition to the neighborhood.
Ugh, I completely agree with the other reviewers who had poor experiences here. I had one of the worst haircuts of my life at Alexander Pope. I don't even remember the name of the girl who cut my hair but she was COMPLETELY inexperienced. She admitted that she had just finished cosmetology school literally a couple of months prior - and it really showed. She actually ***cut my ear*** with the scissors.
Was it just my bad luck to get a poor hairstylist that day? Could be, because the reviews on this place seem to be either really hot or really cold. Ugh, ugh, ugh.
Scary, weird experience at this salon!
I was on their "model list" which means free services in exchange for letting a student under supervision do it. I went it, got a decent cut, got along with the staff...they asked me to walk in their hair show. It sounded a little intimidating, but you know, you are being nice and one thing leads to another and you are committed to walking down the middle of College ave during a community festival in a weird haircut.
I had bad feeling about it when I went in for the fitting. They had put together this horrible, embarassing costume and the whole place seemed to lack the, what? Remove? Class? Beauty-positive vibe of most salons. I became apprehensive that I would be made to look like a freak and paraded down the main street of my brand new town.
Having moved to the bay area a month before, I was still looking for a place, just starting a new, intense job, plus an MFA program. It felt like too much, so I found a replacement & called them with his number & gave him their number. Done.
Months later I get a phone call from someone named Carrie asking if I'd like to be her hair model for color. I had been growing out my color & now have special needs since I am pregnant (which in retropect might have been another reason I just didnt feel right parading down the street in godawful clothes). After discussing hair dye health & safety, & I told her I had backed out of the show and asked if it'd be a problem. She said "NO!! No problem, I walked instead of you & it worked out great." Still, I asked to come in on a day the owner wasnt there in order to avoid vibes.
The free appointment also, at the end of the call, had somehow jumped to $45 since the months I'd first been a hair model.
So: pregnant, working, in school, EXTREMELY busy, Carrie calls to reschedule. Fine. I shift my whole day today around this appointment, excited and thankful to be getting 2 hours to sit in a chair and have someone else attend to my needs as a mom-to-be...I get there and Gloria, the owner is there. After making me wait for 1/2 hour she comes over & says, "we dont need hair models today, thanks." What? I talked to Carrie at length, and this is a reschedule of an appointment SHE CALLED ME for. Turns out, sweet, down to earth Gloria holds a grudge from half a year ago and cant possibly concieve that there might have been a valid reason I chose not to parade down College in her ripped lace and fake fur (seriously, I almost did this).
The whole thing was such a waste of my time, so passive aggressive and SO rude.
This place seems homey at first, but on second glance, is it the kind of hominess that comes with abusive parents and ratty couches?
If it's possible to give half a star I would. I was extremely disappointed with the colour service and haircut I received from Linda Nguyen. I went there late November 2007 but just joined Yelp today and felt obligated to share what a horrible experience I had. Plus, I had to get all the corrections from the botched Linda job from Jocelyn at Jaujou Studio (for the cut) and Jennifer H. from Sole Salon (for highlights).
Linda was nice & chatty but having a good personality is not equivalent to getting good styling service. I was specific enough and even brought photos of the hair cut and highlights I wanted. I told her I wanted layers. She gave me layers but at the back it looked like someone plopped a wig on top of my head -- the top layers didn't blend with the rest of my hair. And the bottom edge of my hair all merged into a "V" which is not what I wanted at all. The layers at the front of my face were good though.
Now, the colour... I said I wanted highlights. SUBTLE highlights. According to Tony at Sole Salon (Emeryville) who fixed my colour (along with Jennifer H.), the highlights were placed too close together. So instead of seeing highlights you see a solid colour. She bleached the parts that were to become "highlights" blonde first then put toner on top of it. My hair was so overprocessed and way too light! She had to put toner on twice during my first visit there because the first time came out too light.
I went back 3 days later and asked her to put more toner in, to make it darker. It did turn a bit darker but it was still this horrible orangey-red color. She even gave me attitude for coming back. Ah, hello I wasn't happy when I left the first time but didn't want to spend another 4 hours in your chair!
I spent close to $200 for the cut and highlights. It was the biggest time and money waster I've had!
Soooo... just as I finally got around to posting a review of Michelle, I hear she's no longer at this salon. Does anyone know where she went?
My experience at Alexander Pope is limited to my time with Michelle. Can't really say much about the rest of the staff, but I'll keep my rating at 4 stars for now.

Psst... I may have found my one and only. She calls herself Michelle Sue. :)
Michelle is friendly… Read more »
I'm REALLY surprised by all the awful reviews here. I called for a last minute cut and got in with one of the owners. She did a great job with my short, wavy hair. I've gone to maybe a dozens of stylists and asked for the same sort of pixie cut, and Alexander Pope did the best job yet. Plus, everyone was very friendly!
I recommend Noah - friendly, attentive, gives a great haircut. Enjoy!
I usually don't like to tell people where I get my hair done.
It is a secret that I guard like my stash of spicy chocolate (DON'T look on top of my refrigerator!!!), but I had a discussion with my stylist this weekend where I admitted that I don't give her referrals and she punched me on the shoulder. For reals.
I see now the error of my ways. Poor Lisa...I have been denying her business because I'm selfishly guarding my personal style. This is an open letter of apology. I love you Lisa and I should share the love.
Lisa McCarty at Alexander Pope has doing my hair for about 8 years now.
There, I said it.
She only works on Saturdays because she teaches full time and that makes her a wonderful person.
Sigh.
I know that this is going to make if more difficult for me to get an appointment.
---------------
8/3/08 Lisa McCarty has move to the lovely new Seven Salon http://www.yelp.com/bi..., just down the street.
I'm also a member of the Katrin fan club. She's been cutting my hair for more than 10 years, which says a lot. I've tried other stylists both at Alexander Pope and other salons but I've always gone back to Katrin. Her cuts are modern, stylish and creative, and she's worked wonders with my very fine, straight and thick hair. Katrin is also a good listener, and an interesting person to talk to.
Alexander Pope takes credit cards but they request that you tip in cash. Some of the near-by meters are only for one hour, so I recommend parking on a side street. Make sure to visit the near-by Bittersweet for an indulgence before or after your cut, or sit by the fireplace on a rainy day at Diesel bookstore.
Trying to find a new stylist after my last moved to LA, I though I would have good luck at Alexander Pope. I was wrong.
I brought in a picture of what I wanted, a short, conservative hair cut, and explained that I wanted to keep the hair a little longer in a couple spots to add a hip/indie feel to the look. Instead of getting a good length for the short spots, she starts by cutting what I wanted longer, too short. After a couple tries she finally got the length right on the sides but seemed like she was rushing to be done with me. When I got home and styled my hair I noticed she had neglected to even out the lengths of my hair.
All in all my stylist seemed unenthused to be giving me a haircut, mumbling awkward attempts of conversation as she tangled me and the chair up the electrical chords of her equipment. And for all her talk about texturing my hair, her cut left it looking flat and bland. Maybe I'll give this place another try in 10 years when I'm married with children and want a "family" hair cut but today I was given a haircut that neglected the style I came in with and was hoping to clean-up and missed the mark of the finished product I was going for.
For $50 I will be taking my future business somewhere where someone actually wants to cut my hair and work with me to get the haircut I want.
Lisa looked agrrieved when I told her what I wanted. I parted my hair, pointed at my roots and announced, "Okay, this? Is your pallete."
See, I'm going prematurely gray. I've been going gray since I was 25, because I'm Irish and that's what we do. We pour whisky down our throats and we write astonishing, incomprehensible novels and we go gray early. (And later, we berate our children because they are the reason we pour whisky down our throats and go prematurely gray, but that's another entry.)
What this means is that I've been coloring my hair for better than 15 years and frankly? I'm really tired of it. My new mantra is to go gently and stylishly into that good night and Lisa was going to help me do that.
Lisa, however, wasn't so sure this was a good idea. Not that she argued with me--she just looked pained. "This is going to take a while," she warned. And then she set to work.
Boy was she not kidding. I'd set aside 2-plus hours for my make-over and nearly four had passed before I dashed out to the ATM up the street to get cash for a tip. (Note to management? Everyone else on the planet allows you to add your tip on the credit card. Everyone. Even pizza delivery places have this worked out. Try it! You'll like it!)
The good is, I have the coolest all-over white streaks ever, and I love them, as well as a really great cut (thanks Noah! You and your tats are very adorable!). The bad is, it required so much processing that for a week, I looked like I had a really bad wig on. Like the kind of wig you buy for $12 to go with your crazy Halloween costume.
However, after five consecutive deep-conditioning hair masks, I woke up this morning to shiny, awesome, extremely hip hair.
Thanks, Lisa! You were skeptical, but you pulled it off. And I thank you.
Upon moving up here, I tried this place because it looked pretty popular and modern. I specifically asked for someone who could cut women's short hair, and ended up with one of the newer stylists (I only realized this after I was already there and she had begun cutting my hair). After explaining what I wanted (at least an inch, maybe slightly more off), she only took off about 1/2 inch and had to cut my hair all over again to get the length I wanted. She was clearly uncomfortable with cutting women's short hair shorter and didn't really know how to give it a good texture. I was there for over 2 hrs and left with an average haircut and a headache.
Needless to say, I haven't been back.
I've only been to Alexander Pope once, since my stylist Monica changed salons. I was a big fan of Monica's, especially when I met her at her previous locale, so I worried that this new place would swallow up the girl I loved.
Getting there was easy enough. The entire Rockridge neighborhood is extremely nice and easy to navigate, by foot, car, or bus. Parking was available, but not necessarily ample. Still, nothing really to discourage a person. But I was still tense about coming to a new salon.
Fortunately, from the moment I walked in, the girls there were just as friendly as my Monica. I came a little early, but didn't realize that I couldn't tip with my credit card (NOTE: BIG piece of advice, bring some spare cash to tip!). I wound up having to walk to two different ATM locations because one was out of cash and then showing up two minutes late back.
The long and the short (real short for anyone who has seen my hair afterwards) of it is that I loved what Monica did for me. But of course, that's to be expected. What really impressed me was that Monica was still given to freedom to totally do her thing with me like she used to, although now in a much sparklier and shinier place.

Tresca is amazing. Adventurous, intuitive, funny. Perfect combination of professional with a wild past - she turned a simple haircut into an afternoon experience. She cured my hangover with painkillers and cookies and gave me a great cut while we exchanged life stories. And there is a story there, with Tresca. It was worth every peso.
update:
DON'T EVER GO TO THIS PIECE OF SHIT SALON! THEY FIRED MY TRESCA!!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel the need to become a Yelper because of Alexander Pope Salon. And, really, because of Noah at Alexander Pope. I found the salon on Yelp about a year ago and was referred to Noah by the receptionist. He cuts amazing hair. His styles always grow in well and he's super good at listening to what you want for your hair. He's also very generous with his time (as is the salon, open late a couple days of week to accommodate working stiffs such as myself) and his focus on making your hair great. Yeah for Noah. Next step, color. We'll see... it's so expensive...
So based on Alice's review I went to see Lisa at Alexander Pope and I was very brave because I didn't just do the whole "this is a new stylist so I will play it safe cut". I chopped off my mop. And I NEVER go this short. I took a huge leap of faith here and boy am I glad!
My haircut ROCKS. I am sorry I lag and don't have a photo to show you, but just trust me, I LOVE LOVE LOVE my new cut. Lisa seemed to do it quickly and effortlessly.
Its too bad she doesn't cut hair full time or these would be a lot more better looking people around. Just Kidding, those kids need her! But I am definitely going back!
I just went back and i posted a pic of my new haircut this time- see it in my photos.
The stylist I go to - Jennifer, who's the bomb - left to open her own place, also on College Ave. Seven salon. Will be going there for next cut/color!
Got my first ever hair colouring here... almost every stylist had some rainbow color in their hair, and they looked great, so i think this is a grand ol place to get yer hair altered. i was quite pleased.
I found this place on Yelp and was just really stoked about the literary name and explanation on their website. However, when I went in for my haircut on a Wednesday afternoon, the place was completely empty. For a large salon, this was a little unsettling. I have medium length hair and wanted a trim, plus a little more style in the front. I got a very mediocre haircut, plus found many split ends the next day, which is pretty much the whole reason why I GET a haircut at all. For $50 (including tip) I just wasn't impressed.
However, since it wasn't a BAD haircut persay, I will still give 3 stars, but I wouldn't recommend it. Life's too short to have lame hair!
Well, I must preface this with the fact that I followed Monica here from my old salon, so this review is purely based on Monica. Having been a loyal customer of my previous salon for 2 or 3 years, Monica was my 6th stylist. 6th. Not because I'm picky, but because every other stylist left. I was on my way out of there when Monica told me she was leaving. My heart dropped until she invited me to follow her.
I have finally found someone who understands wavy short hair - she also has it! She gives me haircuts that last the 5 weeks I go between haircuts. I don't end up cursing my hair for the often triangular shape it would assume by week 4 of other cuts. She also dyed my hair the right shade and tone to eliminate all brassiness I was getting every other single time I would get my hair colored or highlighted. She REALLY understands hair.
Now, I have nothing bad to say about my old salon except that I never had consistency. Every time I would warm up to a stylist, he or she would be gone within two visits. I would again have to explain the look I was going for and again explain that no, that is not a burn on my scalp, it is just a birthmark. And, really, NO, STOP, DO NOT USE A GOLDEN TONE ON MY HAIR BECAUSE IT MAKES MY SKIN LOOK SALLOW AND I LOOK SICK.
The other thing I noticed about Alexander Pope is that it is full of energy, life, and customers. There were at least 6 stylists hard at work while I was there. It was bustling and happy...something I hadn't seen at my old salon in a while. The owner even came over and chatted while Monica cut my hair. I haven't had my trust and faith restored in stylists since my mom used to cut and color my hair. Now that says a lot. I heart Monica!!
I moved to Claremont/Rockridge in February of '07, so I decided to let go of the salon I had been going to for years and yelped some hair salons in the area. Alexander Pope had really good reviews and seemed to be reasonably priced.
Monica was my hairstylist and she was amazing! I brought in a picture of Eva Longoria's hairstyle and she really studied the photo, asking me specific questions about what I was looking for. I have long hair and I wanted to put layers in and add bangs as well. She cut my hair exactly how I wanted it. It's been over a week and I love my hairstyle more and more each day. Monica also gives complimentary bang trims, so that is a plus!
Monica was genuinely nice and she didn't even pressure me to buy hair products at the end of my appointment (which most places often do). She paid very close attention to how she was cutting my hair, but she also found time to chat with me during my appointment.
The salon's atmosphere was pleasant, clean, and stylish, and everyone was friendly. The prices are reasonable at this salon (I paid $50) and I'm definitely going back! Thanks, Monica!
Just got back from the best haircut I have had in Rockridge - at Alexander Pope with Kaitrin. The last time I felt like a queen when I walked out was at my erstwhile stylist in San Francisco...after I spent $115! This time it was a walk-in that cost me $65 + tip, and it was a job very well done. Kaitrin took the time to discuss my hair and worked with me on what it would turn out like. Her wash was grrreat with a nice massage. The cut was stylish and, though it was almost time for her next client, she did a wonderful blow dry giving my hair that final touch. Go AP...Go Kaitrin!
Today I had my first hair cut at Alexander Pope. I called yesterday for an appointment and was able to get in this morning with Alli. My whole experience was awesome. Elena, who works at the front desk, was very friendly and showed me where the magazine were and where I can sit to wait for my appointment. When Alli came over, she was very friendly. Before she started washing my hair, she checked out what my hair was like (which is insanely over-processed hair) to get a good idea of what she was going to be working with. I also showed her a few pictures of the style I was going for, which I found to be helpful. After we discussed what I wanted and what would be doable for my hair, it was time to shampoo and condition. I would come back every day just to get this done! It was such a relaxing process...I almost fell asleep during the scalp massage. Soooooo nice! The cut was amazing as well. Alli recommended some products that would help my hair out (which it definitely needs!). Overall, I was definitely pleased and will recommend Alli to all of my friends :)
You know, it's really not my way to complain about service or about a person I don't know.. I got my hair cut at this place for the first time the week before christmas. It's taken me that long to decide to share how just basically un-concious my experience was there.
See i was getting married on the 29th. the Stylist, LIsa M. commented on how much she loved my curls. i had two extra long curls hanging in the front of my hair, like an exagerated bob. She said they were great and that we should keep them.
And then, as we were talking (since she was getting married in 2008) she stops and says, hey was you're hair always uneven? She had just cut off the left side curl w/o noticing.
I said, well a little, but not THAT much.... and she went on and had to cut of the right side too.
In addition my fiance got his hair cut at the same time, and we shoulda guessed, since the guy had like spirals cut in the side of his head, that it wouldn't be a good match. and THAT guy cut of my fiance's sideburns without EVEN ASKING.
We were in such shock we paid & tipped as normal, and NEITHER of these people mentioned what they had done, or even apologized or commented.
This seemed really sad, since the shop had been very well recommended to me by a dear friend.
Maybe both of them were having an off day, and I did enjoy talking to Lisa, but I would never go here again.
I was a regular here a couple of years ago. I'm not sure why I left. I had an appointment with Kaitrin today (walk-in, 'cause I loathe planning ahead) and couldn't have asked for a better experience. She listened to what I wanted and then went to work with a result far surpassing my initial desires. She even straightened my curly mop with such patience and care. I feel like a different woman! I can't stop tossing my hair around like a stripper trying to make the rent! Thanks Kaitrin!
I have stop looking for the perfect hair dresser because I found her! PHOEBE gave me the best haircut of my life! I met her at the Rockridge Street Festival at the salon a few weeks ago and she gave me an initial consult. She gave me lots of interesting ideas of what she thought would work well with my hair and after thinking about her suggestions, I gathered a few photos of what I was generally looking for. It was a huge change but I liked what she suggested! When I went in today, I showed them to her and picked a few characteristics from different styles and she went from there. She did a beautiful job with my hair. I had THICK, LONG, CURLY, COURSE hair that was too long and weighted down. She transformed my hair into a lightweight, healthy, free flowing style that makes my locks shine! She is a lucky find and I can not not wait to go back and see what she does next! Phoebe is a pleasure to talk to and relax with and made the haircut go by quickly. I thought that I would be sad about such a huge change and so much hair gone but there was nothing to be sad about. I don't miss my hair and my new style looks AMAZING! I highly recommend PHOEBE!!!!!
Haircut was fine. My stylist was a little overcritical about my hair. I didn't come there for criticism. It was enough to make me not want to return.
Kaitrin is the reason I keep trekking to Alexander Pope in Oakland long after I've moved to San Francisco. She talks with me for a while before each cut so we both understand what I want and what the result will be, and it's always dead-on to my expectations when done. She also does amazing colour! On my impossible-to-bleach hair she's succeeded with true brilliant reds, chocolately browns, rich and gorgeous coppers, as well as funner colours like turquoise blue.
I got a terrific haircut from Phoebe a couple weeks ago; I went in right at my appt time and waited just a few minutes before she was ready. I told her what had worked for me in the past but said I was open to suggestions. She immediately had some ideas for making the hair frame my face better and lightening the look. She didn't change the existing style very much but softened it, blended the lengths, and took out a some of the heavier inner layers. I love this hair cut! It makes me feel great and is super easy to take care of, as I requested. It was very affordable for a good salon cut - $45 - and everyone couldn't have been nicer. I will definitely go back to her and would recommend her to anyone who wants a good cut at a good price.
Kaitrin is the best! My cut is way cool....I have been told I have "rock star art chic" hair...um, I am really liking that compliment. Let her do her thing and you won't be disappointed.
Sign up to be a hair model. One of their junior stylists will do your hair for only $10 on a Tuesday evening.
I have been Nina's client for 9 years and have gone through a variety of "looks", as well as gone gray, and I have always gotten compliments on my hair. The salon itself is welcoming and comfortable, unlike some salons where you're expected to know the "routine" and take care of yourself. Alexander Pope offers other related services that I rarely use, but when I do, I am always pleased. Great place.
You know you have a great hair stylist when you get a ton of compliments on your hair!! So, the person to got to here is Kaitrin. She definitely takes her time to cut and fine tune the haircut. I haven't been impressed in quite a while. She listened to what I wanted and it turned out perfectly! She also does an amazing job on color!
So how does my hair look like? Short, spiky, fun and no color (for now)....What i had before, flipped out bob with 2 different highlight colors.
I got a pretty decent haircut for about $40, and Michelle was very nice to me. I think I should have gone in with a picture, though. I take for granted that not all places will do a fabulous job based on your williness to go short. Previously, I had gone to Vidal Sasson and just give them the boundaries of how short I want to go and they would give me something fabulous each time. Of course, they also charged over $90 for that artistry. One thing to know is that you should bring cash for tip. I only had a credit card with me on a first visit and they didn't let me leave a tip unless it was cash... I ended up mailing Michelle the tip after my visit.
