    I love love love Alex and his team! My small 40 person wedding was amazing thanks to my amazing vendors and Alex was no exception. The food was fantastic, the professionalism and friendliness of the staff was superb, and Alex and his team were all so accommodating which was really important to me. If there was one thing I didn't have to worry about, it was the food and service. It was perfect.

    When I first contacted Alex, he said he personally was booked the day of my event, but he assured me he could pull it off with his amazing team of chefs and servers. He wasn't kidding. Alex and his team came the day before of my event to set up and prep. The day of, Nicholas the head chef, Ricardo the assistant chef, and Michelle the Head server, along with a bartender,  and two other servers, did everything. It was perfect. I couldn't be happier with the results. My guest couldn't stop raving about the food. Even my 7 year old nephew, who happens to be the pickiest eater in the world, came to tell me how good the food was.

    There was a mishap in the kitchen, with the microwave. Turned out, they were cooking too close and too high to the microwave and it actually melted! I was really shocked to see that. I spoke to Alex, a day or two later, and he already knew about it and said not to worry, he would replace it. No questions asked.

    All in all, I am completely satisfied. Thank you thank you thank you to Alex and his team!

    Alex and his team of cateres set the standards for excellent catering. His team has been very cooperative at my location and have made both the employees at the venue and his guests very happy. The service is beyond 5 stars. They are able to listen to simple tasks and follow the rules down to the exact time.

    The food was very exquisite as well. A very unique and creative menu always makes a wedding night go well!

    Highly recommended to anyone who wants to find an excellent catering service for any occasion.

    Alex has a gift, not just with food but with people. This reflects in his staff as they seem to enjoy working with one another and are always gracious and kind to who they are serving.

    I work in production and we have had events that run daily for weeks at a time, two meals a day for about 60 people. Alex always manages to have a menu that is fresh and original, accessible for different tastes and diets and, of course, above all truly delicious every single time.

    But again, as great as his food is it is his personal touch that sets Alex apart. Hire him now before he's got his own restaurant, show, franchise...

    My husband and I highly recommend Alex catering! My then fiancé had one wish for our wedding and that was NOT to have the typical bla wedding food that he had come to know. We were planning a fun and vibrant Mexican wedding and wanted delicious food. Well, Alex delivered. He is very hard working, professional and down to earth. Not to mention, an amazing chef! He is quick to return phone calls and helps with the planning process all the way. We did have a little hiccup in communication over who was to provide servers the day of but he scrambled to get the help we needed and all was fine. Alex really strives to provide the best food and experience possible and I knew I could trust him to deliver.
    The Menu:
    The best, Jerry. The Best! Even my uber picky Mexican mother and discerning husband were impressed. We even wondered, "A Brit cooking Mexican?" Yes, he can.

    Mixed Baby Greens Onion, Tomato, Avocado and Lime Dressing

    Seafood Ceviche on Tortilla
    Chipolte Lime Cilantro Chicken Salad on Tortilla

    Grilled Wagyu "Australian Kobe" Steak Fajitas
    Lobster (yes, lobster!)
    Spinach Cheese Enchiladas with Tomatillo Sauce
    Grilled Vegetables Peppers, Grilled Squash, Corn, Spinach Medley
    Tortillas, Cheese, Scallions, Sour Cream, Roasted Jalapeno Peppers
    Fresh Guacamole, Pico de Gallo, Mango salsa & Roasted Tomato Salsa
    Spanish Rice
    Pinto Beans
    Fresh Lime Sour Mix for some awesome Margaritas : D

    All for an amazingly affordable price. There were also tons of leftovers. Well, except for the lobster, of course. We received so many compliments on the food.

    Thank you Alex Catering!

    Alex catered our wedding earlier this month and he did a phenomenal job.  The food truly exceeded all of my expectations, and I got so many compliments from our guests telling me how delicious everything was. And his entire staff was equally impressive - both professional and friendly.

    I feel so lucky to have found Alex, and would highly recommend his services to anyone looking for great food - whether it be for a small dinner party or a wedding.  His food and services are top-notch, all for an extremely affordable price.

    p.s. His bbq chicken is ah-mazing.

    We hired Alex for our annual birthday blowout as my husband and son and I share a birthday week.  He was fantabulous!  His drink server/helper was also wonderful.

    We had 150 guests and buffet style food - focused on a backyard bbq theme but he made it really interesting as well as tasty. I also told him we are healthy eaters, so nothing super-fatty, PLUS we needed some dishes that kids would readily eat. We gave him our budget and worked here and there with him on the menu to arrive at a reasonably-priced, absolutely delicious spread, and had plenty of leftovers when done.  His server made sure the margaritas and drinks were flowing and everyone had a great time.

    Friends at our party hired him after us for multiple events -- he never disappoints!  Works with you and really knows his stuff.

    This caterer may say he's working with you and your budget, but know that quality of food and service suffers. This caterer:

    1. Nullified his contract with us in the last hour of our wedding by forcing us to pay him, as the company owner, an additional server's wage despite his obvious profit built into the overall cost;

    2. Changed several contracted menu items the day before (and day of) the wedding--in some cases without permission--despite outreach regarding the menu one month as well as one week before the wedding;

    3. Had my guests complain to me about having to clear their own tables;

    4. Had guests complain to me about how the buffet table was frequently empty, yet they would find servers eating and drinking our food and drinks in the kitchen/coat room;

    5. Served my guests what appeared, in some cases, to be leftover food from another event;

    6.  Promised a creative, "themed" spread, but put out something even less spectacular than a non-profit office's holiday party;

    7. Alleged that he always makes extra food, but we did not see one packaged leftover, as other Yelpers claim;

    We, by no means, are hard-to-please wedding freaks. We were just regular folks with a modest budget, planning our wedding and hoping we could serve tasty, impressive, atypical wedding food. We thought we were getting that until the last 48 hours before our wedding, and most certainly during the actual day. Ultimately, I regret not just paying a couple dollars more per person for a more professional, satisfying experience.

    (NOTE: If you noticed that Yelp removed another review that I did for "violating" their terms, it was because I published two versions of the same review: one exhaustively detailed version that I did right after my wedding, and another that summarized what I thought were the most important points. That is what you see above.)

    He is everything I want to be!

    I was planning my goodbye beach picnic last minute & I saw all the recommendations, so I called him up not knowing what to expect. I was greeted by an english accent that told me of the delicious ideas he had for the spread. I wasn't excited about the picnic until that moment. He offered a very reasonable price too! I paid half after placing the order & half when I'd pick up.

    I showed up at his place & he filled my trunk with well packed goodies. There were coolers & boxes full of food. He even gave me serving utensils, place settings, and even trash bags. Everything was good to go.

    After my friend & I made a pink and leopard  tiki torch haven on the beach we laid out all the food and couldn't help but begin stuffing ourselves & rearranging the food up until everyone arrived.

    There were shrimp skewers, lime chicken skewers, 2 tubs of hummus and tzaziki, homemade pita chips, grilled veggies, 2 types of pasta salad, the softest pita bread ever, fresh large chunk feta, greek salad w/ the lemon dressing in a closed squirt bottle, 2 clamshells of tortilla roll sandwcihes with roast beef, cheddar, bacon, and avocado, and he threw in berries with mint.

    We all had no idea how he even made money. It was an incredible deal and the food was all wonderful. Two of my friends & I ate the leftovers for a few days after even. Everyone thought the food was amazing.

    He even shops at the Santa Monica Farmer's Market for local fresh ingredients.

    Cute accent, delicious food, professional service, and a very reasonable price. What more can a girl ask for.

    Alex is amazing! I seriously don't even know where to start.

    He catered my wedding this April and did a sweet job.

    The only direction my husband and I gave him was "UHHM MEXICAN?" and he pulled out this amazing spread. During the planning process he was so easy to work with and was super patient with our millions of random questions.

    The food was amazing and still people tell me how great it was. His staff was  SO NICE and so professional. The venue where we had our wedding was kind of all over the place, and my husband and I were both busy getting married - so Alex and his staff just kind of took over the place and got everything in order. They totally went above and beyond.

    Total hearts! 10,000,000 stars!

    Hire this man for your next catered affair. Go ahead, I'll wait.

    Alex catered my wedding on June 28th, and here are some of the comments I've overheard or collected since then...

    "...the best food I've ever had at a wedding" -- her mom.
    "...such good food; such a hard worker; and so cute!" -- my mom.
    "...mmmfff.....merfff....oh, god, that's the stuff!" -- countless other guests.
    "...there was food at my wedding?" -- me.

    Seriously, though, Alex is a miracle worker. With the extremely limited budget with which we gave him to work, he managed to put before us a spread that people are still raving about, lo these many weeks later. He's got about a zillion menu options, and while we only got the "cowboy menu" (BBQ chicken and pulled pork, chipotle chicken salad, and the like), I can't assume any other than that all his offerings are top-notch.

    Alex is a tireless worker, a charming man, and a top-notch chef. He'll put together something magical for a less-than-magical budget.

    Hire this man.

    We recently had our second party catered by Alex and it was just as amazing as the first time!

    We ended up with fewer guests than anticipated so I told Alex he didn't need to offer as many selections, but he brought everything anyway. The sliders were delish and everyone kept saying how full they were but would make room for just one more so they could try each of the creations (as a traditionalist, my favorite was the white cheddar and bacon). And I have to say the pulled pork sandwiches were out of this world!!!! The asian pineapple-ginger slaw that he uses added a different take on the traditional bbq staple; everyone kept asking, "What's in this?  It's soo good?" Brought the leftovers to work and there was a line at my office door. And the shrimp and feta quesadillas could hardly be made fast enough they were so popular. And you must try the candied walnut/ date/ honey drizzled/parmesan topped goodness that that is addictive.

    Simply put, if you want great food at a very reasonable price served by friendly, professional people and yummy leftovers (he always brings a little extra), Alex Catering is the only caterer you should be using.

    Alex came to our home and fed us some of his amazing catering, and we were sold.

    My now-husband and I were extremely nonchalant throughout the whole wedding planning process (you can call me an anti-bridezilla of sorts), so we were extremely fortunate to find vendors like Alex who could take care of the important parts of our wedding reception, the food being most important of all.  We randomly decided on having Indian food (and this ended up shaping the whole reception to be Indian-themed), mentioned we wanted samosas and chicken tikka masala, and hoped for the best.

    That's just what we got from Alex and the rest of the catering staff.  We had beautiful, delicious spreads of Indian food, friendly and helpful servers, cleanup of everything after cake had been served, and many troughs of leftovers to take home.  The menu was perfect.  Alex's suggestions about the food and logistics of serving were just what we needed--affordable but effective.  He and his staff were extremely professional throughout the time we worked with them, and we couldn't've asked for anything more.

    Thanks so much for making our wedding reception a success, Alex Catering!

    I have never written a review, but I had to share how great Alex was last Saturday night for my 40th birthday celebration.  He was immaculate, the food was incredible and he was able to please 19 big time foodies.  Everyone at the party wanted his information and he was able to create appetizers, cocktails and a sit down dinner for 20 with incredible ease. I hired Alex to cater my girlfriend's birthday and it was a smash hit!

    I can't believe how reasonable it was. He came up with the menu, went over it with me on the phone, and just showed up and handled everything.

    I can't tell you what a great find he was. Since then I have recommended him to other people and they are always so happy.

    When we found Alex, his prices were by far the best that we had seen after extensive research for wedding caterers.  We were a bit put off by this, honestly, but we pursued his services, and we are so happy we did.

    Alex met up with us and provided a lot of insight when building our menu, telling us some of his most popular dishes.  Beyond that, Alex was very helpful in giving us information to other inexpensive services, such as rental companies and where to purchase alcohol for the event.

    One small drawback that we encountered was in the contract: he would provide a full refund if he was for some reason unable to follow through with the catering, but he does not guarantee an alternative cook or company to take over if the day before the wedding he had to back out.  He assured us that he does not get sick or cancel, which he stayed true to.  My wife is a lawyer, so she is hypersensitive to contract issues, so this is probably not that big of an issue to most, but just a heads up.

    That being said, Alex was very professional, and was always on the lookout for us to save money.  He even provided many of the things for free that we almost rented from a company for quite a lot of money (e.g., coffee urn, serving dishes), and told us the best places to buy soda, water, and alcohol for the bar.

    He gave us a very generous helping of samples well before the wedding so we could pick our favorite dishes.  It ended up feeding us for about a week!

    Looking back on our wedding, there was no better choice than Alex for the job.  He provided the best service imaginable at an astonishingly low price.  Besides that, he was also very tuned into any apprehensions we had and would make sure we were totally happy with all decisions that we made.

    Go with Alex if you need anything catered; you will get GREAT food at a really affordable price.

    My wife and her friends also enjoyed listening to his really fun accent.

    After finding out about Alex through Yelp, this lovely man and his equally lovely staff catered my wedding on June 28.

    Alex is so easygoing, helpful and talented. He helped us so much by working with our budget. I can't believe he created what he did with our meager wedding budget.

    Further, I didnt have to worry about a thing, which meant a lot because my husband and I did EVERYTHING on our own.

    Alex and his crew went above and beyond the call of duty, cutting my wedding cake and making coffee for everyone.  He even bbqed shrimp skewers that WE made.

    People are still telling me that it was the best food they had ever eaten at a wedding- I made sure to eat on my wedding day, so I know all our guests were right on.

    Alex grilled chicken fresh on the premises and then tossed it in the best bbq sauce I have EVER had.  He made pulled pork which was DELICIOUS.

    His chipotle chicken salad made a great late-night snack for all the party guests that kept late night hours and his potato salad melts in your mouth.

    I cannot say enough good things about Alex the person and Alex the chef- he is wonderful on both sides!!!!!

    He is a benevolent and kick-ass fairy godchef!!!!

    Thank you for everything, Alex!

    It was an absolute pleasure to work with Alex.

    I am a producing fellow at the American Film Institute and really wanted to keep my crew as happy as my budget. Not only did Alex make both possible, but he also kept the producer happy. Always on time, always fresh and unique food. It was great being able to sit back, relax and enjoy a delicious meal during a long day of shooting.

    Besides that, Alex is an incredible guy, very generous and accommodating. There are alot of rude, inconsiderate and expensive caterers out there, and it doesn't have to be that way. You owe it to yourself and your hard working crew, go with Alex for your next project!

He was an absolute delight to work with leading up to the party, he and his team were total professionals and incredibly nice the day of the event. The food was amazing -- I've never heard so many compliments at a party on the food. I would highly recommend the mac and cheese cups and the steak and avocado bites. The shrimp went so fast I wasn't even able to try it! I will definitely be using Alex again for future parties and suggest you give him a call for the next event you have.

    Another year, another Mardi Gras party, and another hit thanks to Alex and his amazing food!

    Alex served up a five-plus course Cajun dinner for thirty guests with barely a sweat.  He was great at improvising additional drinks for the guests when they drank up all the Hurricanes.    He put out blackened chicken and fish, two kinds of gumbo, rice, beans, shrimp etoufee, corn bread, and grilled veggies.  There was even home made hot sauce that was a hit.  Dessert was King Cake he schlepped all the way to Glendale to get!

    We enjoyed plenty of leftovers the next day, and people are still remarking on what delicious food we had, even three weeks later!   My father-in-law said, "Best shrimp etoufee I ever et!"

    New Orleans is an important part of my personal story--it's where I met my wife and where I became a doctor.  Alex's cooking takes me back there--it's that authentic!  He's versatile, cooks many other styles of cuisine of course, but his Cajun food is just like they used to serve in the French Quarter.

    Everything went exactly as he said it would; there were no surprises after the party.  Prices are reasonable.

    I think he's the perfect combination of a true professional, a hard worker, and an outstanding chef with delicious food.  There are probably a lot of guys out there who are two out of the above three, but Alex is the complete package.  Alex is a guy who can make a lot of hard work look easy.

    Our guests loved him, and I really think he's what made our party so successful.  I wish I could claim the credit, but it all belongs to Alex--he taught us that having a great caterer makes the difference in having a successful event.  There was never an empty glass, and he was very accommodating to special requests by the guests.

    We worked with him two years ago and it was the same thing.  He's very consistent over time.  Back then, it was our first real "grown-up" party, and it went so smoothly people couldn't believe we had never done it before.

    I am almost reluctant to sing his praises here on Yelp, for fear of more people finding out how great he is and taking him away from us!   Yet he is truly a powerhouse in LA catering, unstoppable, and it was our privilege to have him do our Mardi Gras party.

    First of all, please note that this is my first review for Yelp, so I hope I'm doing it the right way.

    Alex catered an event for my small nonprofit organization and blew everyone away with both his incredibly tasty food and his amazing personality. In fact, we all liked him so much we met him for drinks a few weeks later.

    Alex is so easy to work with, creating a menu that fits your budget but doesn't skimp on quality.  We had a group of about 150 guests and nobody went hungry.  The food was super tasty - yummy smokedd salmon, goat cheese quesadillas, skewered chicken, and a Meditarranean buffet to drool over!  Hire this guy before he gets too busy to fit you in!  He's the most honest, cool and talented caterer I've ever worked with in all my years in the nonprofit world!

    Alex catered our film shoot, and I've never seen a crew so happy at lunchtime.  The portions were massive, the food was delicious, and the menus were varied.  Alex was always flexible with our needs, providing ample options for both vegetarians and meat eaters alike.  And the price was always fair and affordable, especially considering the quality.

    In addition to the wonderful meals, Alex was always friendly, and delivery of the food was always precisely on time.

    I would highly recommend Alex for any of your catering needs - I'm certain you will be happy with your choice.

    After getting way more replies to my Memorial Day BBQ (can anyone say "staycation"?) than I expected, I realized I needed help. with the unusual request of only needing grilling help ( I had already gotten the food) I reached out to Yelp. Alex responded immediately and juggling a few things around, was able to help me out. "lifesaver" "hit of the party" "best money of ever spent" you choose. On time, courteous, professional, and went far beyond my requests without changing the scope of what I asked. Helped cook for over 100 with nothing but compliments, added his flair to burger and hot dog basics, helped with my side dishes, and after it all, was helping clean up, I almost had to throw him out.! I almost hesitate posting this review b/c market forces do work. Seriously he's great. I hope to use him much more before the rest of the world discovers him.

    Alex is catering my wedding this coming August. I just moved here from Boston and have been working with him long-distance. Whatever I write in this review will do no justice...he is more than amazing- patient, kind, understanding, and willing to do anything he can do make your event special. His food is EXCEPTIONAL- his love for his profession is truly demonstrated in the quality of his food and the quality of his customer service. As long as I live in the LA Area, if I ever have an event or function, I will only go to Alex.

    Who would ever think a Google search would uncover one of the highlights of a party?  When I decided to hire a caterer or private chef to create a four course meal for ten guests as part of my birthday party, I took to the internet.  I sent out several inquiries to everyone I could find.  My time line was fast, my needs were specific and my budget was reasonable.  In the end, it was Alex who came through from start to finish.  His food is delicious (he even customized the menu to fit the 80's theme of my party!).  I think that's the most important thing in the end.  But his calm and professional work manner, his willingness to work with my creative vision, and his enthusiasm while on site was the kind of quality you'd expect at a party up in the Hollywood Hills.  Alex is a class act all the way and he and his food turned out to be one of the highlights of my party.  I cannot recommend him highly enough.
