I was utterly shocked by the positive experience I had here. I went for lunch last week because a co-worker raved about it. I walked in and was a little surprised by the saints hanging on the wall. The kitchen/ordering area made me a little nervous too, but the food was fantastic.
They way it works is you walk up and order at the cash register and pay, then have a seat. They bring you your drinks and food. I got the Black Bean soup (soups change daily) and it came with tortilla chips and salsa. Oh and this HUGE cup of soup was only $4.95. It was delightful. My friend got the chicken salad and it tasted yummy too. Hers came with pitas.
I honestly can't wait to go back. I want to try their Spinach Lasagna Hummus Plate, Gourmet Goat Cheese Special and Greek Grilled. Not to mention their desserts, including what they call The World's Greatest Brownie (only $1.95).
It was very fun to sit around all the books and chat. I saw all walks of life, professionals, students. I can't wait to walk here once it gets warmer. I can't believe I've worked on Music Row for three years and never been! -

I can not believe Alektor has not had any Yelp reviews yet, as is my favorite coffee spot in Nashville! Alektor is a small mom & pop coffee place that is located in a small yellow house off of Grand Ave., it has a very cozy and warm feeling inside.
The walls are adorned with religious pictures and crosses. For good reason, the owner is named Father Parthenos and he is an orthodox minister. Talk to him next time you are in there, he is proud of his restaurant and is very friendly and interesting. He explained to me that Alektor is Greek for "rooster", symbolizing the beginning of the day. Quite the appropriate name for a coffee house!
I usually just get the French press coffee, which is very tasty and great to sip on while hanging out at the place. They have sandwiches there, also. I have only had the portobello mushroom sandwich on sourdough. It was great, very flavorful.
They also carry hand made soaps that were made by monks in a monastery in West Virginia.
I highly recommend this place.
