Delicious food, and it's always nice to support a family-type place over the generic chains.

I can't say their gyros are better than other Greek/Mediterranean places I've been to, but at the same time, they are still delicious.  Their pita bread is always fresh, and I prefer the chicken gyros the most.

Their "combination meat" plate is a nice assortment of meat and vegetable items, but not necessarily worth the price.  Still tasty though.  Their falafel is quite nice.

Service has always been fast for me, regardless of when I've gone.  It's sad to see it so empty in the evenings, though I think they make their business off the busy lunch crowds.

They don't have the greatest service but when we walked in for lunch the other day, it was the worst I've experienced yet.

Walked in and they had a bunch of empty tables and most were filled with dishes. We saw 2 tables at the back of the restaurant which were clean and open... we waited... waited .... until I got tired of waiting and asked if we could just go sit at the back table, a weird look and the response was "ok".

So we walked over and sat down, it was pretty warm in the restaurant. We waited to get menus and glasses of water...we waited....and waited... while we were waiting the couple of people behind us had been seated, had received menus as well as glasses of water... and we waited.... finally the waitress  came over... with the menu's but I had to make eye contact with her...

We waited some more while she got our drinks and then another long wait while we got our meal. All the while the people who had come in after us, had already got their orders.

The order: Troy Salad - Greek salad with grilled chicken - 1 star dish! This is the worst greek salad I've ever had. The plate arrived with a large puddle of oil and vinegar at the bottom of the plate, the chicken was dry and the cheese had a weird taste.... I ate a couple of bites and left the rest.

They were out of kebabs at prime lunch time hour of 12.30pm - so he got the lamb pieces with rice - it was ok.

Another long wait to get our check, finally we got tired of waiting so we just walked up to the counter to pay.  3 guys behind the counter were all talking, they saw us there and continued with their conversation. Finally one of them came over and pulled our total - we paid and left.

We won't be coming back anytime soon, the food is mediocre at best and the service is pretty lousy!

    Falafel in Livermore! Who knew?

I went here this week with a few of my new co-workers for lunch. The menu is pretty reasonably priced, I thought. The wraps seemed typical pricing, but it didn't cost much more if you wanted a whole plate of food. I got the 9" falafel wrap (they had 7" wraps for those of you who don't eat much -- but if you're on Yelp already, you probably want the 9"). It was good. I enjoyed it. A little messy to eat but not too bad. I think I still like the falefel place in Pleasanton near the fairgrounds the best (for the Tri-Valley anyway), but I would come back here again.

Service was a little slow, but not too bad. Friendly when they did come around. It was a fairly busy lunch crowd. They also sell desserts on display at the front counter, though I did not try one. Everyone else I was with ordered some type of meat meal -- either a wrap or the combo plate. They mostly gave good reviews.

The prices are really good here. They don't really give you enough sauce though so make sure you ask for a little extra. I only got a falafel sandwich so I can't really judge it on too much. They fill it with a ton of lettuce.

It seems pretty authentic and the meal is a good size. It's a good place to go if you're craving Greek food.

A decent place that offers a great option when in suburban hell. Service was prompt (but all I had was a gyros wrap). It is a modest place in a nondescript stucco retail-strip mall. They serve both Greek and Mediterranean food. I missed the sandwich, fries and drink special (advertised on a sandwich board outside).

The gyros was decent. Other Yelpers will have to comment on their stuffed grape leaves, lamb souvlaki, kabob's, prawns corfu and moussaka. I wouldn't drive out of my way for the gyro, and would give the overall rating a 2.5. Add a .5 for giving local folks a different dining option.

Aleko's serves fresh, non-greasy Greek & Mediterranean food in a lunch style cafe.  Appetizers run from 2.75 (spanakopita: baked filo with fresh spinach and feta) to 6.25 (fried calamari).  They also serve salads, soups, nine inch pita wraps, seven inch pita sandwiches, and entrees, like moussaka (7.95 for layers of eggplant, meat, and bechamel),  7.50 pastitsio, a dolmades dinner for 7.75, and grilled salmon for 9.95.

There is plenty here for vegetarian and meat eater alike, all served in an unpretentious and sparkling clean white-tile diner for exceptionally low prices.  The staff seems genuinely friendly and excited to be in business.  I highly suggest that you try them.

This joint is located in the PW shopping center near Quizno's and Carl's Junior.

I definitely have had better gyros at other places.  Meats were dry and tough, and the portion was small for the price.  My co-workers who went with me agreed with me.  The inside is nothing special, with some pictures related to Greece.

I know I know, there shold be more written content.  But since I haven't been there for 3 months, there's not much more I can say and I'm not willing to go back just to prove myself that this place does not serve quality food :(.

I love gyros and falafel.  They are delicious!  So, when a friend told me a new Greek place opened up in Livermore, I had to try.  I ordered the gyro like every other customers there for lunch, which came with a side of fries and a drink (they call this the value meal).  Where's your sense of an adventure you ask?  True, there must have been dozen items with names I couldn't pronounce, but I am a sucker for a gyro and pressed meat.  Hard to turn down roasting mystery meat rotating around an electric heater.  Anyway, my gyro was good.  Not great, but definitely worth $7 I dropped for the lunch.

This place used to be the old Korean MaMa's BBQ, which didn't last very long in Livermore.  But from the look of things today, this place may have more staying power.

    Bon Appetit

Not a 100% real Greek place, but we aren't in Greece soooooo.....

My family and I went here to get our lamb and baklava fix.  We had previously been to Mykonos in SRV and not been very pleased with there service...and my standards for a Greek place in the Valley are not very high.

We were immediately greeted by the manager (owner?) and sat at a table for 9...and since there were 6 of us, we sat comfortably.  He brought us menus even though this is primarily counter service, and graciously took our order for drinks and proceeded to make the fountain run for us.

We all ordered something different: the Troy salad, the Gyro sandwich, the Gyro wrap, the Falafel sandwich, Avgolemono, Calamari salad, and the Lamb Souvlaki.  Most of us were pleased with our dishes and the time it took to serve them.

The lamb was seasoned correctly, and it is kind of hard to screw up a Gyro.  The calamari on the salad was bad, or not calamari...as my mom put it she "pretended it was octopus".  The chicken on the Troy salad was "dry". The Avgolemono was lacking ANY chicken and needed some pepper, salt and pita added to it to bring it up to enjoyable.

On a positive note the service were superb, and the baklava was good.  They have a "Breke" displayed in the kitchen, but they do not make "Greek Coffee" which is a serious oversight...but they do get their alcohol license in another couple weeks.

Overall, this place is a better stop than Mykonos in SRV, but cannot fill the hole that Athens in Dublin created a few years ago when they went mexican and closed their night restaurant.

I'm giving this place four stars because:
    1.  Service is friendly
    2.  Food is quick
    3.  Quality and Taste are good
    4.  Best of all, they offer gluten free items on the menu (hard to find these days)!!!!

We had the salmon and chicken souvlaki twice and both times, it delivered!  For the same price, you can get the grilled salmon with rice from PW Market and it's not nearly as good.  Granted that the portion isn't as big as others but it's filling enough for lunch.

This is a good place to go for a quick bite to eat, especially if you are allergic to gluten!

I found this place by accident. I was going to try out the new place called  "mamas...." but mama skipped town. When mama skipped town some very friendly and cool guys set up shop.

I was there on the first day they were open, usually on opening days at new places things go wrong. It was 1:30 pm and all was well at that point.

I am not Greek so I cant testify the the "authentic" taste of this place, I just know I liked the taste!

They offer a large variety of item at great prices.

I ate with a friend on the first day and was chatting with her at the counter about how my daughter liked baklava. When the "waiter, owner, friendly guy, manager, whoever he was" brought our food to us he he also brought a piece of baklava for me to take home for my daughter. I thought that was nice.

I like my Gyro and my Friend like her lamb. My friend bought a order of babaganush (i know that's spelled wrong) to go, i tried some some and liked it, like i said I'm not Greek so there ya go.

The food was very good here the first couple of times.  they have a Salmon dish with a creamy sauce and capers that I really liked.  The rice was tender and tasty as well.  Then things seemed to go down hill.  Much like other people I began to get overcooked food that was dry and not very appealing.  The service which had been very good at the beginning became indifferent.

The atmosphere is fairly minimal and the location not great, especially for dinner so they really can't afford to stumble like this.  I haven't been back in the past couple of months, hopefully things have/will improve.

Initial impression, four stars, current impression two stars.  I split the difference and gave them a somewhat reluctant  three.

I love Greek food, so I was excited when my church group decided to meet here for dinner last Saturday night.

The first thing that appealed to me was the prices.  We just bought a house and are cutting costs, so a $6 gyro was right up my alley.

The second thing I appreciated was our friendly server.  It seemed like the restaurant was owned and operated by a family, which is always nice.

I ended up eating half of my yummy gyro and half of my hubby's scrumptious steak pita wrap.  My hubby actually ordered the gyro, but because our waiter failed to hand out the correct dishes, my hubby ended up with steak.  It wasn't a huge deal, but in the future the waiter might want to write down who ordered what.

I won't come here often since I live on the opposite side of town, but I highly recommend Alekos for an affordable and delicious Greek meal.

I came here on a Wednesday with coworkers for lunch.  The place was bustling, but we were seated right away.  The service was great, they were right on top of it.  Once we ordered, the food came in about 10 minutes.

I ordered spanikopita ($2.95) and a half Greek salad ($4.00).  Both were good.  I'm a big fan of spanikopita, so I was pleased with my selection.

The staff was very nice.  The food was yummy.  The location is convenient.  I'll definitely be back.

I will definitley keep going back to Alekos to geet my Greek fix!!

Been there for lunch with my wife and recommend this place

We got the gyro sandwich, which was great and had lots of meat, lettuce, and sauce.  Very tasty and I ate the whole 9" sandwich..ugh.  My wife got the grilled chicken salad and it was very much like a Greek salad with grilled chicken on top.  The chicken was OK but I thought needed more flavor.  We also ordered a kids meal of chicken fingers, fries and a soda for our toddler.  Dad got the soda and my son got water.  Kids meal was pretty standard out of the frozen food aisle stuff, not bad and my son liked it.  The pita bread they use is very good.

The service was very nice and they interacted with my son, a plus in my book.  Prices are very reasonable $6-8 for a sandwich, $9 for a chicken salad, and $4 for the kids meal.

I am going back for lunch and bring some coworkers soon.  I love gyros there.

Scenario: I work in Livermore and the lunch rounds get boring after awhile, so I thought I'd give the local shawerma wrap gyro place a try.

Product: Meh.  The shawerma is not only missing spice flavor, but it simply wasn't juicy or savory or any other descriptor I want to apply to my meat.  And for what I'm getting, it's way over-priced imo.

Service: The guy taking my order and serving the food didn't really talk to me.  Maybe a language barrier?  Not sure, but he didn't seem all that friendly the couple times I've been.

Atmosphere: A standard white-walled, dimly lit, sparsely decorated lunch stop.

Uniquity: The only reason I go back is because gyro shawerma places are so rare.

Had the Greek Platter (vegetarian) which was highlighted by the smoky baba ganouj (I only had half, my wife ate the rest.)  The falafel were very crunchy, but were somewhat dry inside.  My wife had the Falafel Wrap - she wasn't impressed.

Service was a bit slow, but we visited on a weekend.

A fair option if you're in the neighborhood, but not a destination dining spot.

GREEK BARGAIN FOOD. Ok, I am always on the lookout for some Greek soul food. I feel like I am in Greece as soon as I have a chilled glass of Retsina. Alekos takes me there. Despite its bare bones decor and the music (a bizarre mix of Greek flavored trance, tragedy opera and daytime soap), I am transported. The food is bountiful and fresh. Nothing fancy but good wholesome Greek which is difficult to come by in the Bay Area. After a swim at DeValle Resorvoir with a full on appetite I had a gyros and a Greek salad. I will be back, a swim and some Greek. It was a plus to have a very attentive wait person at this quite new restaurant.
Insider: order an extra tzaziki for $1. to sauce up your gyro and few squirts of fresh lemon on your salad.

3/14/2011 - Bummer - went out there and it's gone! Guess you have to go downtown to get close to this kind of food! (or settle for bbq next door)

I stumbled on Alekos by accident on opening day - and from that time on I've been a fan. They have a sufficient size menu for the size of the restaurant with plenty of choices for veg's as well as meat eaters. I haven't tried everyone because I tend to get fixated on the lamb as well as baba ganouj (which is awesome - hard to find anything but hummus at most restaurants). I'd call their food more Middle Eastern/Greek than strictly Greek. I'm not a big fan of rice but their seasonings is so good, I usually end up getting a plate rather than a sandwich.

I gave this restaurant 5 stars. It's a good small unpretentious restaurant.

We stopped here today on the way home from cherry picking. Hub, kiddo and I shared spanikopita, calamari and a large gyro. Here's the rundown:

spanikopita: decent size for the price, but filling a little bland, not bad

calamari: nicely seasoned, tender, not greasy, nice dipping "sauce" (sort of a garlicky salsa)

gyro: good pita, very generous amount of meat, good amounts of lettuce, tomato and onion, could've used a little more tzaziki

    service: pleasant, efficient and attentive

atmosphere: clean and pleasant, but nothing fancy

OK, this my opinion only, and you all know what they say about opinions...everyone has one, just like as-----s, some are just bigger than others...
    That being said.
    I have to laugh.
I eagerly anticipated reviewing this place, hoping for a great gyro, (pronounced sorta like year-oh,) I digress...I went twice, didn't like the dirty tasting fries, I waited for, for 10 minutes, with no one in front of me, and the gyro, another time... Lettuce, especially, what appeared to be red leaf in  a gyro, is not authentic. Many gyros here ,are not that authentic, in America. I don't think they have a cross cow/lamb in Greece, nor in Turkey. He was very nice. I give hime that.
So what is funny, is that I reviewed this place at the time of opening ,a bit more than a year-oh ago.So, thenI hear of a complaint about my review and that I couldn't write it.
Just an opinion, mine, like an , well you know...
    Get over it.
Don't serve bad fries that you make people wait for 10 minutes for.
Don't put lettuce with tough, dry meat, and not good tzaki in your gyros.

So I went there for a late lunch one day and ordered the chicken picatta and it took 15mins for them to bring me my food! I was with my bf and I didn't even notice that it had been that long because we had been talking but, he pointed it out to me as the waiter refilled my water glass for the 2nd time. At LaSt!! The dish was placed before me and I was like "What did you do with the rest of it?" in my head and to my bf. I was expecting to be able to split it and save some for dinner.  That was not the case.  So I ate and left.  The food was really good but, not enough for the price and the wait.  Service was nice enough but, kinda shitty at the same time. You know what I mean? lol

Okay , So.. me and my sister went to livermore to pick up something on craigslist. We aren't from around there and we were hungry. We stumbled upon this place on the way to vasco road. The food was pretty decent. The waiter was very very very nice.  Im picky about dolmas and it was pretty good , not soggy or unfresh like I've had at some places. I also hate it when the grape leaves are too thin. I really liked the hummus it had some kind of smoky flavor too it it was different.. like they put real roasted eggplant.

    READ THIS VERY IMPORTANT:
okay so when we were about to leave, we ordered some dessert to go. 2 kinds of baklava and the other thing they had. We get in the car and start heading for vasco. My sister tells me to taste it. I taste it,  OMFG HEAVEN ON EARTH.  When she asked how it was... the only thing I could say was "PULL OVER...NOW, you have to taste this for yourself". She pulls over, tastes the baklava exclaims "OH MY GOD" and then she turns her car around and heads right back for the place.
We were going back. We ended up buying like 8 more ... to take back home and let everyone  taste.  ALL I have to say about their desserts is that, imo its what you would get for dessert if you were in heaven. The textures were grand.. not to chunky or gritty or soft.. the dough was just right not too flaky and not to dry. Of course its really really sweet because of the honey.. but you don't order baklava if you dont want something sweet.

Needless to say, for the dessert alone, I would stop by there or maybe make a drive a few times a year. Next time I have a dinner party or anything like that I will probably order a few batches of it because it is that damn good. If your anywhere in the area, I suggest you stop by.

Every time I go here this place is yummy. I love their falafel sandwich (which is really a wrap). It always has fresh tomatoes and lettuce and I like their taziki sauce. Plus you can get a lot of things on the side for a dollar or so. A half greek salad, 2 falafel balls and pita bread is only $6. The people are not very talkative but they are always friendly and the service is fast.

PS: Somebody wrote me to tell me that I should know that the gyros always comes with only 3 slices of meat. First off, if it always came with 3 slices of meat, I would have never been back. Secondly, anybody stupid enough to think a gyros with 3 slices of meat is a good deal deserves what they get.

Try Yanni's in Martinez or hike your butt to Rainbow Pizza in San Mateo if you want to learn something about gyros.

Of course, that dude could barely write a cohesive sentence so it's no wonder he doesn't mind being ripped off.

Good stuff. My wife and I found it on Yelp and headed there for lunch today. She got the Falafel wrap and I got the gyros wrap. They were both really tasty. Good, fresh food. The server was nice and attentive and she and the four young dudes working there took good care of everybody in the place. The ambiance is very strip mall but at least it wasn't plastic forks. We were one of three tables of guests so there weren't any issues there - lots of time to give us good customer service. No complaints. We'll be back.

I decided to try this place out because it's one of the few Greek restaurants in Livermore. I ordered the chicken souvlaki sandwich and it was $6.80. The onions were raw and had a really strong taste to them, I wish they would've grilled it with the chicken. My chicken had a burnt taste to it but overall the sandwich was just alright.. If you're looking for something local hit up Demitri's Taverna, and if you're willing to drive down 580 to grab some amazing food, go to Simply Greek in Dublin. The waitress while prompt was not very friendly..

My boyfriend and I were starving while on our way home. So, we stopped by this quiet plaza and a Greek/Mediterranean place caught my attention. I said, "ooo, let's go there". We walked in and a few other people were inside. The girl told us to sit anywhere we wanted. I guess you could say their customer service skills could improve a tad bit. I ordered a lemon prawn dish which was ok. The 'veggies' included a grilled half  tomato, a single slice of grilled zucchini, and a slice of eggplant. I imagined more so that was disappointing. My boyfriend had a lamb dish. The lamb tasted good though. I also think the pita bread slices could have been a bit bigger. There were just 2 pieces on the plate! Our bill came out to be about $25 and we only drank water. Overall, the food was tasty but I don't think it was worth that price.

Quick service, large selection, decent food, friendly owners. Place is packed at lunchtime; gyros and falafel wraps fly out the door. Lamb souvlaki is tender and savory, and the sauce is perfectly seasoned. Grilled veggies are a nice touch. Moussaka is delicious. Rapid turnaround is ideal for lunch crowd.

Should have gone with my gut and turned around before I walked in. Ordered pick-up tonight. Phone order was very improper. Drove up to see the "chef" outside conversing and someone smoking feet away from entrance. Gross! There was only one table with guests and the girls at register seemed to lack guest services.

Food: Chicken Souvalki, would be nice if the chicken was prepared to order, the tzatziki had more flavor, and less lettuce please.

Greek Salad: I'm not fond of a lettuce based Greek Salad but theirs is. Tomatoes were not ripe. Overall not a fresh flavor.

Didn't finish food. Won't be back.

I picked up a to go order here a few days ago. Unfortunately, NOBODY was there even though it was dinner time. Their kataifi is BOMB and so is their pilaf. I had the Mediterranean Plate which was pretty good. For some reason, my Russian fiance and I decided it smelled EXACTLY like beef stroganoff for whatever reason.

I kinda liked this place. Don't go for the complicated dishes though. Gyros, falafel etc are your best shot. The service is quick  and friendly. When we went on the weekend and they weren't that busy, the owner was very nice and chatty.

I go there frequently. I like their food a lot.

    Gyros is my thing there.

I have been here twice so far. One time was not so good & the other FABULOUS. My husband had an amazing pasta with artichoke hearts which was amazing & I loved my greek salad. I think this restaurant is a little confused, which makes the customers confused. Sometimes they serve you but sometimes you feel like you need to go up to the counter to get any help. Its pretty good check it out!

Had this biggest craving for Greek food. Didn't feel like messing with the traffic to downtown Livermore. Sooooo found this nearby location by other fellow yelpers.

I was the first to arrive at lunch which kind of worried me because I didn't want to be the FIRST and ONLY customer there. Thankfully I had a friend meet me there. Yadda Yadda Yadda...Decent size and pretty clean inside. Typical good stuff..you know the basic stuff.

Down to business.. My friend brought her little tot and wanted to order him a kids meal, the chicken tenders with fries. Simple right? The little lady waitress who seemed like she smoked a pipe crack before coming to work was describing that the tenders were already burnt. I'm sorry, come again? Why would they be already burnt when we haven't placed our order yet? If that's the case, don't leave them in effin hot fry all effin day! Good grief people its just an ounce of chicken meat!!!! We couldn't understand what she was trying to explain so we ordered something that didn't require the fryer and let her get back to smoking her crack pipe.

Ordered the gyro 7" pita... oh heavenly goodness.. Pretty good size for $6. I took my first bite. The pita bread was warm, slightly crunchy and filled with gyro beef meats, rabbit food, and the white sauce. Its not the BEST but pretty good for a small joint for Livermore. It was pretty filling and I was happy for the time being.  What can I say, its decent for a small joint here in Livermore.  And I can't beat the cost of it either...So if you're looking for a quick greek fix...I'd recommend it fo sure!

Good gyros --- I'd like a little more tsatsiki on my gyros, but lots of meat, fresh tomatoes, not too many onions, and lettuce.  A good deal for the price!  They took awhile to find their niche, but they seem to have settled in and are a great little neighborhood joint.  The servers are friendly and chatty, parking is easy with the whole lot out the door, to go orders are ready quickly.  They've recently changed their hours (closing at 3:00 p.m. M through F)
