Hole In The Wall...Love In your Mouth.
Before a very weird night across the street at Pepperbelly's Comedy Club, some friends and I went here for some real food. I was thoroughly impressed by the Burrito Mojado(choice of the night). All the best taste of fresh meat, rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream and salsa. The atmosphere was what I expected, but nice enough...basically your coming here to get your grub on and not a fine dinning experience. Pocket book crisis averted...Definite thumbs Up. -

So I was out on business in Fairfield and decided to stop by here. I ordered a vegetarian burrito. Actually it was pretty good. They hooked me up with a good portion.
The reason why I'm giving it 3 stars is because they make the burrito where I cannot follow the assembly process. I'm one of those types that like to participate in the burrito building process so I can have my foiled beauty just the way I like it. I was however able to manually adjust my salsas with their salsa bar which I appreciated.
Not a bad burrito at all! -

Stopped in to get a bite before the play across the street last night. I ordered a chicken burrito and my wife decided on a taco salad (chicken). The burrito had a generous amount of chicken with the same on my wife's. Just seemed to be missing something that would have sent me to burrito heaven. Overall, we both thought the food was a little boring compared to our favorite, La Fiesta Taqueria in Citrus Heights.
Our order arrived in a short time and was nice and hot. Chips are included. The salsa bar was small and only had two selections. The restaurant was clean and tidy.
I usually save about a third of my burrito for breakfast. The difference this time is that i haven't been constantly thinking about it since I awoke this morning.
Overall, good but not great. A quick place to get a little mexican food for lunch or before a show. Prices are in line with other taquerias we have visited. Atmosphere is basic taqueria so don't expect visual treat. -

I have to give this place 5 stars because out of all the mexican places in the area. I would choose to go here first.
I love there grilled fish tacos, and you cant go wrong with the torta. All of there salsas have a great kick to them. I am always full and happy when I leave this place. -

They open at 0800 a.m., that was the first plus. The lady behind the counter was very nice. The food came fast.
A quick stop when I found myself starving driving along I 80, I've been trying to find some good food in this area since I pass through quite often. I went with the regular, pastor burrito with no rice. I may not get a chance to explore the rest of the menu because I liked it so much.
I would recommend this place to all, good stuff. -

After a fun filled day at the courthouse (not), I was starvin' like Marvin! I secretly broke the courthouse rules and used my phone to yelp a place in close proximity. At least I wasn't trying to talk to the convicts like this friendly hoochie also in the audience. Anywho---I found Alejandro's to be the logical choice.
I was in a bit of a hurry and had to go with something easy to inhale while driving, or IWD. So, I selected the order of 4 chicken taquitos. I asked to hold the lettuce and guac, and have some extra sour cream instead. I found the taquitos to be tasty but they put sour cream x 10 so they quickly became real soggy. I was kinda turned off after that but the 2.5 I did eat were just fine. I also had a large Horchata to wash it all down...yummers.
I'll come back when I can sit and try this "Mojado" everyone is raving about!Listed in: The Mexican

Excellent carnitas! If you dig on tasty, savory pork, this is your place, as I've ordered my fair share of carnitas and al pastor at Alejandro's and it always satisfies.
They also have excellent fish tostadas, and burritos topped with the an enchilada sauce. Everything is fresh and delicious.
Their pico de gallo is incredible. Help yourself to a big scoop of it to dip your chips in when waiting for your order.
The prices are right and the service is always friendly. Enjoy! -

When Theresia D. told me that she was going to get mexican for lunch, I had visions of crispy fries creating a hot bed for chopped carne asada, cheese, sour cream and guacamole. "Sure," I said, "Carne Asada Fries." She called me back..." the place I went to doesn't do Carne Asada Fries."
Well, I figured that you can't go wrong with taco's. I ordered 3 taco's, Al Pastor. You know, 3 street tacos. Two small tortillias, meat, cilantro, pico de gallo and a hit of hot sauce. And, of course, a large horchata.
I thought there was a mistake when I got my food. I received a bundle of aluminum foil in the shape and size of a baked potato. The small bag of chips was bigger. I peered inside and sure enough, there were my three tacos. And they were singing to me. In English....."Tighten up on that backstroke," WHAT! They were floating in orange grease.
I took some napkins to sop it up. 10.....10....10 napkins later, I'm still sopping up grease out of my tacos.
My horchata was good so I'll give it a star.......Hola Baldo's, como esta...... -

Well Kent P. & Zac O. as well as all the other Yelpers were very right about this place. I walked in and immediately all eyes were on me......eeeeeewwwww (Eat your food, sheesh) So I walked up to the counter and to my surprise there was no lil kid that was tranqualized. I was actually looking forward to that.
Well I went ahead and got the Burrito Mojado as everybody has been ranting and raving about it, I also got an Horchata on the side......oh and picked up some tacos for mom to enjoy aka, Bee D.
My burrio was not too bad, except the longer i took to eat it the more I realized it was sitting in a big pile of greaseyness. The Horchata was fantastic though.
And I can say that the service was just as expected, and I do give it the benifit of the doubt that the food came out super fast. -

I have tried over a hundred taquerias and rarely return after the first time if I'm not impressed in the least. The chile verde super burrito is my barometer burrito. Since first trying this place in 2003, I've been back about ten times, and I've always been very satisfied with my chile verde burrito. The sauce is spicy enough to get your attention and has a great tangy and peppery flavor. The chunks of pork dissolve in your mouth just like a perfect pot roast. And all the other contents are well-proportioned and fresh. It's tasty, large, and priced right.
I've only ever ordered the chile verde super burrito, so I will only say that this particular menu item is a five-star item on par with other chile verde super burritos that I've ordered at places like Pancho Villa or El Farolito in San Francisco, La Costena in San Jose, or La Favorita #6 in Sacramento. The only burritos in Northern California to surpass this in my opinion are at Tacos de Acapulco in Chico and at Taqueria las Calandrias in San Rafael.Listed in: Comida de la Raza

This is the place where Mexicans go to eat Mexican food.
That is all you need to know. haha.
GOOD JOB DERRICK I with the suggestion of the burrito mojado!
Get the burrito mojado with spicy pork (pastor), it will melt your heart and fill your stomach!
I recommend the strawberry Jarrito to accompany the burrito. -

Great, cheap Mexican food! Since there is so few decent places in Fairfield to eat, this is a blessing. It is in downtown Fairfieild on Texas Street. Don't expect fine dining, but do expect a bagin for your money.
I love the babrequed pork burritos. It's huge and delish! -

Hands down, the best Mexican food in Fairifeld. I've been coming to this place for almost two years and have never been dissapointed. The food is always flavorful and fairly inexpensive. Not unrealistic for a family of 4 to eat here for around $20. I only knock it down to 4 stars because the bathroom is pretty gnarly and hate to take my kids there.

Been here a couple of times while visiting family up in the 'Field, and let me just say that food is pretty damn good and prices are good. Especially in these times.
Great portions, fresh food. I tried the Carne Asada plate once and last time I was there I went with the Shrimp with Garlic. -

Having spent ten years in New York City, wherein I located but one hole in the wall Mexican joint that so much as remotely resembled the multitude of tasty taquerias found on The West Coast, I thought my troubles were behind me upon returning to California, and so far I've been right. That is, until I popped in to Alejandro's after a long day on the road.
You know when a saltshaker takes up permanent residence in one hand you're in big trouble. Such was the case when I rolled off 80 West hoping I might chance upon a culinary adventure of sorts in the otherwise unfair city of Fairfield. Having once lived in the town I should've known better, but if hope doesn't spring eternal, hunger certainly does, and so: seeing that Alejandro's was among the higher rated of the Fairfield taqueria's listed on Yelp, I fared forth despite my better judgment.
Unfortunately my hopes were dashed with the arrival of what may well be the most tasteless plate of chicken enchiladas I've ever eaten: unseasoned meat tossed into an uncooked tortilla, soaked under a can of piping hot yet bland as can be soup (sauce, I presume) and topped off with a less than generous helping of jack cheese. Not much worse than New York's best.
Suffice to say any doubts I'd had about Fairfield and its culinary fare were summarily put to rest upon my return to 80 West. The next time I'm hit with the pangs of extreme hunger whilst passing through the Fairfield area, I'll look no further: I'll simply pull in to the nearest Taco Bell, fill the belly and pull out, Fairfield Style. -

This is some of the best Mexican food I've had, especially in my little city. The burritos are humongous, and always incredibly tasty, although I've only ordered the beans, cheese, and rice.
The food comes out incredibly quickly, which is definitely a plus, and is incredibly close to my high school, for a quick afternoon lunch.
Sometimes I have difficulty understanding the cashiers, for they have thick accents, but regardless - I love the food! -

I cannot possibly count the number of times I have eaten here over the past ten years. There were a couple of years that I ate here five times a week, at least. I usually get tired of a certain kind of food pretty quickly, but the high quality of the ingredients here is what keeps me coming back. Their pico de gallo is hands down the BEST in Fairfield OR Vacaville, and I've tried them all. Also, the prices are ridiculously cheap, and they NEVER mess up my phone orders, even with the language difference.
I see a lot of people complaining about the food being 'bland'. Umm, yeah, if you're used to places covering up poor-quality meats with tons of salt. Here, the food doesn't have to hide, it shines on its own!
The employees here ARE stand-offish from their white customers, but I don't think it's because they are rude. I think their English isn't very good (the majority of their customers are Hispanic, as it is AUTHENTIC Mexican food), and they don't want to encourage us to start chatting with them in a language they don't understand. Sometimes I practice my atrocious Spanish on them, to give them a laugh. ;-)
Best bets- Coctel de Camaron, Mojado Burrito, Super Nachos. -

I really wanted to like this place, especially since I knew the place was probably the most authentic Fairfield could get when it comes to Mexican cuisine. But, sadly, I wasn't impressed at all with the food. I ordered the carne asada taco's and I was so disappointed with them. The meat had no flavor whatsoever. All I tasted was the fistful of cilantro salsa and onions that they put in it. I also ordered the carne asada taco's to share and again I was disappointed. It was drenched in guacomole and sour cream... who could complain about that right? Well, all I tasted was that.
Oh wells.. it was worth a try. -

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!
So I stumbled across this little gem one day with my friend in a craze for mexican food while looking around the candy festival, and it is something I will never regret. Alejandros is my secret lover, NOTHING can replace them.
Best burrito ever, like godly burritos. Granted I always get the bean cheese and rice burrito but it is heaven wrapped in foil. Anyway, the service is quick and painless, except for ordering because heavy accents are yet another one of my boundries with mexican food resteraunts. -

I hate to give such a crummy review of a Mexican joint (I LOVE Mexican food!) but this place was just bland, bland, bland. I realize I'm from San Diego and we have a different type of Mexican food down there (what do you expect when TJ is RIGHT there), but come on! I haven't had meat this bland since... I have no idea when.. that's how sad it is.
First I'd like to say that this place isn't a restaurant. My husband and I were scoping Yelp to find an actual restaurant around here and thought this was it. It wasn't. This, my friends, is a taco shop... but a bad one. Yes their portions are huge, but a whole lot of bland food isn't a good thing. The one good thing I would like to point out is that the salsa at Alejantro's is pretty good. So, for anyone new to the area (like us) who happens to be from a city with kickass Mexican food-try somewhere else. -

I'm really particular to Mexican food and is really difficult to please. I've been here before for a burrito that I can't really remember anything great about it so probably that's the reason why I never wrote a review. BUT a coworker of mine suggested grabbing some menudo after a long night of work. We decided to grab a few beers and head over to Alejandro's as soon as they opened. Definitely a con that their business hours aren't posted ANYWHERE online but we were alright with taking our time at the bar and calling whenever we thought they opened. We parked in the back parking lot and entered through the rear. I really didn't know what I was expecting since I've never even heard of menudo but when I googled it the photos looked sooo good. Tripe, soup, lemon, peppers, and onions. Tasted pretty good but I think that the soup could probably taste more flavorful if there was other ingredients added as I had seen on the internet.

Every time I go to Alejandro's I have to remind myself to order only one veggie taco because if I get two, I won't stop eating and my stomach will hurt for the next two hours. Not really a veg friendly place but I'm sure they were trying to be when they told me the rice was vegetarian (sorry-I just don't believe them). I had the burrito once and it was pretty good but I just love corn tortillas. The food is fresh (especially the lettuce which is an extremely important part of the veggie taco), good salsa bar, and close to my office.

Oh their burritos are to die for! I I highly recommend getting their burrito mojado. Service was speedy, but not exactly the friendliest. Oh well, we were taking the food to go anyway. When my hubbs and I popped in a Thursday night there were a couple of families just hanging out and eating in the main dining area. It's always nice to see people comfortable sitting around enjoying conversation as well as their meal.
The prices were reasonable and portions were more than satisfying. -

Fairfield, CA
The burrito mojado is fantastic, but the service is so iffy that it has spoiled the place for me and my friends. Nothing like a place that makes you feel unwelcome from the git-go. The kid behind the counter seems like he is on tranquilizers and only two of the girls that work there will speak to us. Fortunately they are the cuter of the sisters (family run) Older sister has a bad attitude most of the time and only speaks with those that look a certain way(hate to say that, but it became increasingly obvious) Me and mine have spent a lot of money at this place, but that has ended and they will not see any more of my pesos again. I dont like to feel unwanted in a place that I am keeping alive. Serve yourself sauce bin is nasty. Customers frequently come in with kids and everyone is all over it with dirty hands.NASTY

great mexican food. period. and good price to boot.
y'know, as a general rule of thumb, the mom/pop shops don't tend to disappoint, and usually, the ghetto-er the better. But in this case, it's actually not THAT ghetto, so it's a win win situation.
you can only say so much about how good this joint really is. Because it's just simply THAT good. Believe it.
If it's your first time, try the burrito mojado. it's amazing. -

yeah ok, here's a warning, this paragraph is a rant, the next paragraphs are the actual review. so having been born and raised in southern california and knowing how awesome it can be, i feel the need to point out to the rest of the world (ie california) that not all people from so cal are as lame as the majority may make us seem. i mean whats the point of a warning that a place labeled as a "Taqueria" is a "taco shop"? like, who goes to a place called alejandro's taqueria and like expects it be something other than a taco shop. like whatever...its not like the place is labeled as a taco shop...oh wait. close proximity to the border obviously doesnt equate to basic vocab knowledge.
honestly though the review that i am referring to is correct, even if it is for all the wrong reasons. the meat is a a little bland. this is pretty obvious in their tacos and even in their nachos. But if you get their falutas or a burrito, the strengths of their salsa's can mask the weakness of the meat. i havent had their meat-less nachos but i would guess those would be pretty good.
what makes me a fan of alejandro's really is their salsa. they have an absolutely killer salsa roja, a really good pico de gallo, and a salsa verde that i think is a little too sweet, but hey, thats just me. you can order at the window or sit down and a waitress will come to you. and most important, every order gets free chips.
their menu is pretty robust as well. they have ceviche tostadas and a ceviche cocktail that seems pretty popular. there is other seafood as well. i think i saw goat on the menu on saturdays only. they have homemade horchata, a little too rice-y and not enough cinnamon-y
so yes, the place is not the best, but it has lots of positives, everything is homemade and i am a salsa slut... 4 stars -

WTF you have a business with great food, and a Mim that works at the front. It's like Charlie Chaplin is standing in front. If you see a little boy at the register just start speaking otherwise you will NOT get an answer! The mojado burrito is great, the super tacos are awesome, but once again when it seems like a certain group gets special attention and their food made a different way. Hmmm you start to wonder how your food is being made and one should NOT feel like that before eating. Once again the food I had was great, but show some sunshine on your faces and ACT friendly.

Love the super burritos!! I go there whenever I'm in Fairfield. I like to eat them with alot of lime juice and salsa from their cute little salsa bar. I like regular super burritos (carne asada or lengue) but my mom likes them Mojado style, which is basically a super burrito covered in sauce and cheese. Haven't tried anything else on the menu because i always insist on getting a burrito whenever i'm there.

Review from Adrienne H.
Fairfield, CA
Since I work in downtown Fairfield, I'm often eating a burrito from Alejandro's. "Al Pastor," shredded pork in some barbecue-like sauce, is the way to go. A "super" burrito equals two meals, and a regular is enough for me. Sometimes I like to keep it simple and get a bean and cheese burrito or plain quesadilla. The free chips are always a plus, and a trip to the salsa bar is required. Although their green chile is not my favorite, the pico de gallo and the other, red salsa are both decent. Cilantro is everywhere, but that's a good thing, right?
