I used to never come into this Aldo, or any Aldo in general. This one is especially bad during weekends when bargain-frenzied women are grabbing shoes off the shelves. Cons: It's messy, crowded, there are limited sizes, and you have to wait a long time for service. My first time here, I got the rudest salesperson ever and never wished to return.
Now for the pros, the 50% off sale shoes everyday is amazing. The same exact shoes are on the Aldo website being sold for the non-50% off price. I bought three pairs of adorable heels here for $49 TOTAL. I lucked out and got Eduardo as my sales person and he was so helpful pulling the shoes speedily, recommending insoles, etc. Don't go in here with something in mind. Go during a non-busy time like weekdays or early on weekends right when they open, so everything is neat and in place! If you have enough time and patience there's something to be found for everyone. -

This place gets my vote for "Worst Shopping Experience Ever."
Yeah, everything is on sale all the time. BUT they are so understaffed and understocked that every single time I've been there, I've basically waited 20 minutes or more for service, just to find out they don't have anything in my size.
You suck, downtown Aldo. Hire some staff and re-stock from time to time! Or, just close! Sheesh. -

The funniest thing ever was last year when they had a water main break and literally the whole store filled up with 6 feet of water. It was about 10 degrees outside at the time. Wet size 14 shoes floating everywhere.
Otherwise go to DSW. These guys suck. 50% off every day? yeah right.
Aldo is my gay alter ego name though. fyi -

I haven't been infuriated by customer service this bad in a long time.
To shorten a long story about my two favoritest pairs of sandals ever (size 8 aldo flip flops that come in both black and tan, with shiny straps, that are great for casual wear and for dressing up...and that have a really long, hard to spell name), I broke one last summer and have been looking for a replacement.
I couldn't find them in stores or online, so I emailed Aldo customer service. They contacted me a couple of weeks ago to let me know that a pair in my size was at this location. I called to confirm, and spoke with George, who looked them up in his computer (this took like 6 hours because apparently spelling out words-- " 'a' as in andy, 's' as in sam..." was still too difficult for him to understand which style I was inquiring about) and confirmed they were at the store, but in a recent shipment box, and to call back after 3 pm.
Well, my mistake, I didn't call back and just went there instead. George was gone, but I got to be served by his equally mentally challenged coworkers, who preferred standing at the register chatting about which ugly fake patent leather wallet purse they should buy for themselves to helping their customers. These women were equally inept at understanding the name of the style I wanted. One finally understood me, checked her computer, and disappeared upstairs for at least five minutes (PS, now I'm freaking out that the half hour I paid for at my meter would run out and I'd get a ticket over this). She returned saying they must be in one of hundreds of boxes and they couldn't unpack them.
Some guy overheard the exchange and came over to reiterate this lameness, and offered to call me when they were found.
No call, so I checked back in today. Well, sort of. I called, and the first time the phone rang 8 times and a fax line picked up. The second time, I simply asked "how late are you open today?" and got the response "Huh?"
I give up on you, Aldo Liquidation.
Say it with me, people. As-pro-pir-gos. A as in adam, s as in sam....fuck it.
PS- I found them(!!!) albeit a size too small, on amazon. *crosses fingers that she'll never have to venture back to this craphole store again ** -

I gave just two stars because I'm feeling very unsympathetic. I went in here today (on Memorial Day, which was obviously a huge mistake), expecting to find some wonderful stilettos for prom. I spotted some at the Aldo at the Emerald Square mall but for $100, I took a pass. I thought I'd find a cheaper pair in downtown Boston, but I couldn't have been more wrong.
I couldn't find the shoes I saw at Emerald Square but I did find a pair that I fell in love with. You know what the bummer is though? They only had a size 5! I was heart broken :(
The one good thing in that place was a saucy Hispanic guy on the staff.

I went in here on Friday on a whim, looking for 2 distinct shoes, with a possibility of a third. I was immediately excited when I saw that they were having a huge 50% off sale and was able to find about 6 different pairs that I liked!!
Initially juggling about 3 pairs, I waited and waited for someone to help me. Eventually, someone did and he took the shoes to go find them in my size. About 10-15 minutes later, he comes back and only has 1 in my size. I give him a few others to look for.
I ended up spending the majority of my time just waiting for him to come back to me, quickly explain that they either didn't have the shoes in my size or in the color I wanted before running off to help someone else. HORRIBLE customer service! I will say that he did bring me inserts for a pair that didn't fit and let me try them - but it would have been nicer if he'd offered to see if another store actually had the shoes in my size, rather than making shoes that were a size too big fit.
I ended up going next door to DSW where I bought 3 pairs of shoes - Aldo's loss! I did end up spending more money probably, but the customer service was WAY better and so helpful and I was able to breathe in the store without being knocked over by some rude customer. -

Even the sale prices do not make up for the fact that their customer service sucks. I've requested shoes in my size and takes forever for them to come out just to tell me they were out. Better yet, sometimes they never return to tell me they're out of my size so I'm standing there with just one too-small shoe in my hand. Yet somehow there are 8 employees running around doing - something? Not helping customers, I guess. The store is so disorganized so it's impossible to tell what actually is on sale and what's full-price. What's even more laughable is the full-price amounts themselves: $100 for faux leather boots that aren't even comfortable? No thanks.
It's a shame because I've found some really great shoes at Aldo stores elsewhere, but this one just sucks. -

I've given up on Aldo. No matter the city, no matter the town, they just never have my size!
Geez, it's not like I wear the most common size in the world. Okay, I do. But seriously, stock up more! And kill these stupid whole sizes thing. We're not in Europe!
All right, this store looks exactly the same as any other Aldo. That's kind of scary. The women's is to the left, the men to the left. The lounge in the middle. The accessories stands near the back. The cheap pleather purses in the back left corner. My god, I've memorized the layout of every Aldo store!Listed in: Beantown

Let me just reiterate the fact that there is nothing pleasant about shopping at the Aldo in Downtown Crossing; however, if you're willing to brave the crowds, there are definitely some great deals to be found.
As others have mentioned, the service is perpetually terrible and sizes are extremely limited. There's usually always a promotion going on, generally one of the following at any given time: 1) buy one get one free, 2) 50% off, or 3) 30% off.
If you're in the area, I would definitely recommend checking out the store, but don't go out of your way to come here. -

I think this Aldo is better then some others I have been too because it seems to have some good sales. I don't know if all the Aldo's were doing this but a couple of months ago this Aldo had a buy one get one free sale on EVERYTHING. It was a totally decent deal if you happened to come across it early enough. Maybe worth checking this one out again.

They never have my size...but they can have some really good deals, so it's definitely worth checking out in case they do have you're size.

I have no problem with the shoes at Aldo, it's the staff. Aldo has some affordable shoes that hold up pretty well. It just seems that service comes second here. They were having a big sale so they did not have a lot of shoes in stock, so just about every pair I asked for was out. That aside, my problem with this place is that the attitude of the employees. I know that a chain shoe store in downtown crossing is not a highly glamorous job but can you please compose yourself and not yell at your friends when they come in. Please use inside voices (kids).

they have great deals for women's shoes but not really for men's and I noticed that the shoes they have in this store is very limited especially for the men's.The store gets very crowded and the customer service is very poor. For me the Aldo store in Newbury Street is much better than this one and it's very hard to find a parking lot in this place so it's much better if you're going to commute.
