Review from Jen F.
You cannot imagine my excitement when I found an Aldi store down in South Florida. As a native Chicagoan, this was THE place we shopped (well, supplemented with a little Jewel with a side of Target) for groceries. I was heartbroken that there wasn't one in our new neighborhood, but every 2 weeks we drive the 30 miles to shop here.
We get our basics (eggs, milk, bacon), our frozen steaks, chocolates, potato chips, and even some of our wine. GREAT prices. GREAT products.
Shopping here makes me feel a little less homesick. -

Today was my first visit to Aldi. I can't say that I am a big fan, or that they will be a part of my regular routine, but I will certainly drop in again when I am in the area, and give them another chance to win me over. The store was smaller than I expected, and also more "bare bones". One turnoff was that I found a couple of packs of ground beef just sitting on top of some boxes. Some very inconsiderate person had obviously left them there. I handed them to a cashier and told her where they had been left. I was in the store for almost another half hour, and that meat just sat out in the same spot. Just before I left, they moved it...to the other register! I certainly hope someone doesn't buy spoiled meat. I am not so confident that they threw it out! I will shop here with caution until they win me over. Hopefully that was just an isolated incident. Only tried one of their items for now...their cresent rolls. I won't buy them again, as they are not as good as Pillsbury.

I'll be back.
My family and friends in Ireland are big Aldi fans so I've been really curious to see how Aldi US would match up to Aldi Ireland. Anyone who is not brand loyal is going to love this place. The price difference between Aldi and Publix is amazing.
I've been here twice already and the diffrence in everyday staples like Milk and canned beans and eggs is substantial if you have a large family. EG. Winn Dixie and Publix gallon milk is about $4.00. In Aldi it's $1.99.
The fruit and veggies are woeful though. Really nasty and subpar. I'm not mad about the breads either. But if you are a savy shopper and are aware of prices in the other stores you can score big here by going once a month and stocking up on the cheap stuff. Their make up line is quite good. I lost all my make up on a recent trip and loaded up on some of the basics here to see me through for next to nothing. -

Amazing. Concept reminded me of a similar idea from a very long time ago (Basics Supermarket).
This is not such a big location, but its prices are Enormous Savings!. We were lucky cause it was not too full (i expect that during a sat or sun morning, they should be fuller).
You have to go row by row.. not rushed so that you can catch all their incredible prices. First starts with cookies, popcorn, clover honey!! as fellow yelpers have written, there is not many known name brands. I have never actually heard of these brands ever... did catch some familiar items such as bags of M&M candies - great price.
What caught our eye thou was the milk - they carry Regular, Low Fat & Skim Milk - all in gallons - all at $2.09!!! this is much cheaper than even what we pay at BJ's! picked up a dozen eggs $1.29.... another great buy was a small 1/2 pint of blue berries - $1.39 and 1 pint of strawberries - $1.29 (and they were both in great condition). A regular loaf of sliced white lunch bread 99 cents!! coffee creamers nice size jugs - french vanilla $1.99. 1 box w/2 envelopes of powdered onion soup - 69 cents. Cappuccino Powder - $1.99.
Did notice prices for some frozen items such as the box coconut or butterfly breaded shrimp - box of 10-14 pcs - $2.99!!! gotta go back to pick these up...
No frills store - no bags, no coupons accepted, you have to pay 25 cents to use the buggy (ok do not freak out - you get it back when you return it to the pile) So important 2 things to remember - 1) BRING A QUARTER AND BRING YOUR BAGS!!!
side note: like anywhere you go - check out the prices carefully cause for example i did notice that their tomato sauce can was 29 or 39 cents each and i usually purchase this at walmart (their brand) for around 27 cents....
check out their weekly specials on line. they offer other items as well besides food - example this week special offering a milk shake maker for $19.99...... it is a place to check out especially for good eats at a good price!!!
only accept ATM, Cash and i believe EBT (not sure on this one) call and ask -

Best prices for groceries, period.
This was my grocery store in Germany and am very happy they made it to S Florida.
You can get a lot of grocery basics for much much cheaper. (i.e 1 gal of milk for $2.99) The quality of the products is good; however the fruit is hit or miss.... -

After shopping at Aldi's when we lived in Chicago, I couldn't be more ecstatic to find out they opened in So Fla!
What can I say, there are no frills, its a basic place where they open the boxes and don't shelve the goods. Plus don't expect brand names or even bags. You bring your own and pack the groceries yourself.
The best part are the prices and you don't have to purchase in bulk.
Don't forget the quarter for the cart. You will know what I mean when you get there. -

I found out about this place after researching Trader Joes and their lack of stores in FL. Since they're owned by the same company, I decided to give it a try. I actually really like this place. Very no frills, but there are a few quality items (fine chocolate, wild caught salmon) amongst many other staples.
We're careful with the meats we buy as some look like really cheap cuts. We stick with pork chops and ground turkey meat, both reasonably priced but we go elsewhere for the rest.
Very organized, great prices and eco-friendly (even though we forget to bring the bags 50% of the time).
I still miss TJs dearly but this'll do. -

My daughter, a beginning chef, told me about this little store near her in Atlanta. I was grateful when they opened one nearby in Pines. Great prices for store brand food, especially the basics - bread, milk, eggs, cheese, canned goods. Good prices on some nice items - gourmet chocolates, snacks, frozen foods. And they have some very good seasonal specials - loved the schnitzel, spaetzle, and strudel for Oktoberfest.

They have a ton of generic items that are exactly the same as the brand name ones. The quality is excellent and everything is at an extremely reduced price. It's a great place to go if you're on a tight budget and don't want to give up the quality you're used to.

The grand opening was yesterday. I went this morning and as with any new store there were tons of people shopping. First off make sure you have a quarter if you want to use their shopping carts. You get it back when you return the cart. Yes, it is a pain but the savings might just be worth it. They had milk for 1.99 a gallon, eggs .69 dozen, flour 1.19 and sugar for 1.99. I was not impressed with their selection of produce nor their meats, most of which were frozen however I did get nice red delicious apples 3 lbs. for 1.39. The prize of the day was to find Maripan Stollen imported from Germany for 4.49. Bring your own bags as they charge for theirs.

10/15/2011 Alert! Aldi is selling imitation Samoa cookies that tastes great for a fraction of the price! I love Aldi. It's full of surprises even though sometimes I wish the items were available weekly! I guess it is like Xmas! ;-)
I've been here 3xs and I love it. I think I will betray Publix now. Unless you're picky, only eat certain brands, vegan or can't bare to wait in lines without magazines this German owned grocery chain is a cheap shopper's paradise.
With that being said the pros are that pretty much every staple food is cheaper at regular price than most of your supermarkets, minus the brand labeling. Though Aldi still provides for the diet conscience (ie me), for specifics you still have to hit the good old supermarket mega chains like Publix or even Super Walmart, which mind you some things are still cheaper at Aldi!
So now on to specifics. Aldi sells 1 gallon of milk (full, skim, 2%, even soy!) for $2, Soy is $2.29 (per carton which I don't know if it's a gallon), bananas for 39 cents/lb, sliced cheese for $1.99, 99 cents for eggs, all your basic spices for 99 cents (WOW), bagels for $1.39, English Muffins for 99 cents, pineapples for $1.79 (though that's the promotional price), canned veggies of all types for less than $1, cereal for $2 or less, the list goes on... and quality is NOT sacrificed because well, I don't go to Winn-Dixie, Sedanos or Bravo... but that's not even quality that's just aesthetics! Aldi is clean too. Well, if any of those staples tickle your curiosity stop by Aldi! I think I will save a lot more now (and trust me, I was always a suavey shopper)!
Also, Aldi is cheap for a variety of reasons. I've done my research so I'll share it with you. Shopping carts are 25 cents to rent, when you return it you get your 25 cents back. This saves money from having to hire a cart retriever! No plastic grocery bags (kind of like Costco) because plastic costs money (they do this in Asia and Germany too!) and the price is actually included into your price at chain grocery stores. The layout of Aldi is also kind of warehouse like where they don't have to pay someone to display brands or stock your stuff into shelves (Aldi doesn't have them! Well, they do but not like Publix...). They usually have only one or two checkout lanes (but they're pretty fast). Aldi does not accept credit cards for the obvious reason of paying the credit card company's charges. They do accept debit cards though. No coupons obviously since no brands, but their "brands" are similar in quality most of the time. Aldi also closes at 8pm except for Sunday (7pm) which also saves them money! I think I've covered most of it. Happy Shopping! -

I went to this place since I heard you can get cheap groceries. Here was my list and final price:
Carton of large eggs
Gallon of Milk
Orange juice
Hazelnut creamer
french vanilla ground coffee
3 cans of condensed milk
chocolate chips
cream cheese
BTW, I know I'm missing something else but can't remember.
$19.00
My bank account thanked me.
Some things I did not need to buy just yet but noticed the price of were
Three rolls of paper towels - $1.00
Bag of tortilla chips - 99 cents
The food is not labeled under your popular brands but who cares! Tastes the same to me. -

If you like to save or just need to, get thee to this supermarket as it doesn't come much better than this. This German chain of stores is as basic as you can get, but you will reap the rewards of that in your pocket book! No 'name brands' and it's not Publix (it's better!). Great German chocolate, jaffa cakes were lacking, sardines for $.69 a can (whooop!), everything a cost conscious shopper could want or need without stooping to dirty, smelly nasty supermarkets like some Sedanos/Presidente's I could mention! My only wish is that they had chosen to expand Trader Joes to Florida, but never mind, I'll take their Aldi store instead. I love to save money.

Great prices! Good to see and alternative to Publix, which I really like but not the over pricing. Not brand names at Aldi but it's a good place to get basic items.
