Another amazing experience at Alchemy!
At this visit, I wanted quite a bit of my length (which was already fairly short) taken off. At most places I would be a bit apprehensive about going shorter, but I know that Trish will always do an amazing job! And of course she did! LOVE it!! Trish is the best!!

I have been going to Alchemy for about about 5-6 years. This is a great salon! They have a lot of great hair stylists !! I have been to 4 different stylists in my years of going here.
My longest run was with Donya (2 years) but she was out for maternity leave and I just started going to other girls =(
However, this last visit, i found my new go-to-girl! Tiffany. She is awesome!
This is the type of place you can walk in when you want a new look and trust that they will make you happy, hot and feeling good about yourself! If you want a new spunky look but not quite sure of what to do, this is the place to go. They know what they are doing! You can go for just a "normal" cut or you can walk in with your "usual" look and leave with a new obscure style that makes you stand out!
I have only been unhappy with one visit and it was because I felt I did not have a connection with the stylist but I believe it was because she had her assistant do a lot of the work. I get it, they have to train, however, the stylist wasn't even keeping an eye on the assistant. This only happened once though so it wasn't that bad!
This past time I went in requesting "movement" in my otherwise straight, non-exciting hair. I left with flowing, vibrant hair and I left everything up to Tiffany!! She gave me a great cut that had various layers that flowed so nice. She made my thick straight hair less heavy so it moved on it's own. She also added vibrant gold and red highlights that pulled from my natural brown and I love it!
The location is always awesome! Always clean and up-beat. Great music and magazines to keep you entertained. All the stylists are so welcoming and chat it up with you! They have a photo booth you can visit (can you tell I like photo-booths?) so you can do a before/after. They also have various shots around the salon of real customers which is always fun to check out!
They have amazing hair products too: Bumble & Bumble, Phyto etc. Top of the line! You can check out their dope site as well, gives you an actual feeling of being there and you can see the entire layout/atmosphere! http://alchemyorlando.com/

Been going here for about 2 years now. I originally started seeing Kristin but she had to up and move to NY....she was amazing! So she referred her clients to Bailey and she's awesome as well. I heart Bailey's assistant too. He rules.
The place is super eclectic and chill.
Other than the fact that my hair always looks awesome when I leave there, my 2 other favorite things are drinking wine while I get my hair did, and the photo booth in the back so you can take pics of your new do when you're done!
Initially, I started going to Alchemy at the recommendation of my long-time stylist in NYC. I moved to Orlando & they knew the studio from past collaborations. Since I trusted my stylist for years, I knew he would recommend only the best for me.
My issues have to do with the store being really dark & lackadaisical assistants. I also need to state that this was not always the case until maybe the last 6 months or so.
Problem is I can never really see my color properly until I leave. Since I color my hair in dark tones - the last few times I have left the salon with freaking stains on my skin! I complained about this before my last color to them and yup, when I got him I had color on the back of my neck, behind my ears and a big splotch near my hairline. I couldn't see any of this until I got home due to the lousy lighting @ Alchemy. And yet, it was perfectly ok to let me leave the salon like that...
When they called me to confirm an appointment -- for the first time in a long time I paused and canceled. The front office person was very pleasant, professional and understanding when I expressed my complaint & issues. He said that he'd pass along my concerns & comments to the owners. Have I heard from anyone there? No.
Should I have called to complain after the fact, maybe. But with all due respect, I made my issue known during the initial wash & also during the rinse. The assistant's response "dark colors not staining your skin? Please..." Funny, my previous colorist and her staff never had issues removing and ensuring that I never walked out looking like a speckled monkey.
Again, the coloring team there is awesome. However my suggestion - make their lazy assistants wash you out TWICE. Go outside BEFORE YOU DRY. And if they screw up, don't leave a tip out of guilt as it wasn't earned.
As for me, I wasn't apologized to by the owners nor reached out after expressing my concerns, so I guess they don't care enough to retain their customers. Moving on....
As a girl who has had my hair professionally dyed since middle-school, I've been around the block a time or ten when it comes to salons. I use to go to Fusion, but when my stylist up and moved to NYC I was left high and dry... So after hearing rave reviews I took a chance and booked an appointment at Alchemy w/ Donia. I must say, Donia is incredible! She took my abused, sad looking hair and turned it into a really great, hot, desirable coif! My hair looks healthy & polished and Donia is to thank. She listened to what I wanted, and then used her expertise to create something even better. I'm a client for life now!

Trish was my stylist & did an amazing job.
I LOVE this place! I have been going here for years and I haven't even lived in Orlando full-time since, um, 2004? (drove down from Gainesville a lot for hair appointments while I was in college!)
Kristin is AMAZING, particularly for wavy/curly hair.
I spent the past year living in Los Angeles and still only got my hair cut when I'd fly home! I trust Kristin with my hair more than I have ever trusted a stylist. Seriously, I never go in there wanting something in particular beyond "___ much shorter" or "how do you feel about bangs?" I just let her do her thing and I'm always terribly happy with the results.
Hell, even when I needed a colorist in Los Angeles to keep up my (faux) blonde, I only used the person Kristin had recommended to me (an ex-Alchemy stylist who was also fabulous).
Now I'm in DC, but I'm pretty darn sure I'll still be stopping by Alchemy whenever I'm back in Florida. :)
FIVE STARS. I love this place. I would fly from across the country to get my hair done. Jamie, her assistant, and Samantha are wonderful. It's hard to get an appointment, but when you do, you will understand why it's so hard to get one.
I heart Alchemy
I was impressed at first, but Alchemy went steadily downhill after my second haircut. I switched stylists a few times (Leigh, Donia, Bailey, and Jamie) but nobody was delivering the flattering, unique cuts I was hoping for. I often waited up to 45 minutes for appointments to start only to get lackluster results. Waste of time and money. Go see Jessica at J. Bauman instead - she does phenomenal cuts for men and women, she won't keep you waiting, and the salon is a nicer facility than Alchemy. All this for $10 less than what Alchemy charges.
Cool, creative cuts. The stylists are nice and mellow, no pretense. They're even mellow if you're late or have to reschedule. They also give you free beer and wine. Yah. Its in a boutiquey, cute part of Orlando. Only a faint scent of Mickey around these parts. If you want to give you're hair an update...go here.
I would drive from Gainesville or Fort Lauderdale to go to this salon. Kristen works wonders with curly/wavy hair. I got the best haircuts ever from her. I'm sad I've relocated to New York because now Orlando is just a smidge too far away to go for a haircut. Shame because, again, great cuts and at a low cost, too. The salon itself has a great atmosphere, and everyone there is really nice. It looks like the kind of place that could be pretentious, but it's really not at all. I love Alchemy.
I was handed a flyer from one of the stylists that comes into my store every once in a while so I decided to give them a try. The salon is adorable in its punk kitchyness. I went there for an extreme haircut, I WANTED something punky and funky. When I arived there were 2 other customers there, what seemed like friends of the stylists. They were drinking champaign and eating cookies, which I was never offered. After about 20 minutes I was finally seen. I kept asking the stylist to cut more off, but what I ended up with was a basic trim that I couldn't gotten anywhere and for alot less. She insisted that cutting it short wouldn't be good for my face type. Eventually I give up and ended up with the haircut she felt was right for me and not the one I wanted.
The staff is super friendly, and they are amazing with a pair of scissors!
