When my sister came to visit she had one task on her LA bucket list ... get a tattoo. I decided to join her on this venture and we immediately started searching for a tattoo place. Everywhere had a $100 minimum. Both of us have no idea how much a tattoo should cost as we're ink virgins. But when a guy in Hollywood was like, "Oh, a small plus sign on your finger? $150", we were not to be taken as idiots and fled.
Alchemy has a $50 minimum and when I said I wanted it on my finger, they advised me otherwise as ink smudges on the inside of your finger and wears off. Totally appreciated this advice. My sister got 12 letters across her ribs and the price was totally reasonable. They were also extremely patient with getting the font and spacing perfect before stenciling it on. We got tattooed by Chris and he was great to talk to and great to talk the nerves out of you. Thoroughly clean.
It's nice to get a tattoo in a place where people laugh.
I'll definitely be back when tattoo inspiration strikes again. -

Another newbie here. Been thinking of a Tattoo for over 10 years and couldn't decide on an image. Finally got an idea and decided to just go for it while on a visit in LA. Checked out the "known" shops and saw the great reviews for Alchemy and stopped by.
Mike (Burnsie) was very low key and helpful in answering all my questions. Discussed my ideas and he send me a sketch. Needed some work to really emphasize my vision. By the time my appointment time rolled around, I was excited and nervous and HOPING he had gotten the modifications on the design. Well, he NAILED IT! Made me feel very comfortable and put up with my nervous chatter while he completed the most AMAZING tattoo for me. I would HIGHLY recommend Mike to anyone considering a tattoo. Another item on my bucket list to cross off.
Thank you, Mike!!! -

I got my first tattoo here, done by Mike. I found this page through Yelp, and went and met with Mike for a consultation at first, and indeed, he was as nice and warm as everyone here says he is. I went back for my tattoo the next day (usually they take a $20 deposit for appointments, but since I was still on the fence, Mike waived the deposti and just told me to give him a call and drop in) and the whole process was SUCH a breeze. It didn't hurt nearly as much as I worried it would, and he was wonderfully calm and totally in control the whole time, and made me feel very much at ease. The tattoo came out exactly like I'd hoped.
I highly recommend Mike for a tattoo virgin! -

Fellow yelp reviewers, you do not lie.. this place is the real deal and the dudes that work here are awesome! I just got a tattoo from Chris (my second tattoo, I got the first in STL a long time ago), and it looks awesome! I love it. Chris is super talented and did a stellar job. He answered all my questions and tweaked the design I brought in so that it turned out perfect -- even better than I had imagined. THANK YOU CHRIS!
I've been to quite a few shops in my day (what can I say, I have lots of friends with tattoos), in various cities and countries and what not, and I just knew when I walked into Alchemy that I was in the right spot -- you start to develop a real sense about these things. The place has a professional, comfortable, and unpretentious vibe. I felt totally at ease in the shop.
Also, the people that work at Alchemy are rad. Everyone in the shop is friendly and helpful. There was a pack of girls ahead of me (first timers) and these guys handled their seemingly endless questions and comments with ease ... I mean, I would've gone nuts, but these guys are serious professionals -- kudos dudes, you are zen masters... and the girls' ink looked fabulous! Again, confirming that I had picked the right spot!
Also, the work was super reasonably priced - I was presently surprised! Rock on!
Great experience, wonderful shop -- especially if you're getting your first tattoo, because these guys are super patient and chill. Check it out. -

This was my second trip to Alchemy & my 4th-5th tattoo from the FAMOUS, FABULOUS MR. Michael "Burnsie" Burns. As shops go it is exactly what I want in a place- Traditional flash on the walls, biker/skater art all over & hand painted, smart-ass signs! ("It's NICE to be IMPORTANT, but it's more IMPORTANT to be NICE") There is a "ruff-tuff", dive-bar-ish (my FAVORITE) kinda feel to the spot (but not TOO 'TUFF', Ladies! This is truly a "COOL" Shop & VERY approachable). It's in a good location with GREAT artists- I've only had work done by Burnsie, but the Owner of the shop (CHRIS B.) does GREAT work too- I caught him finishing up a SICK ASS traditional style crowolf when I came in to see Burnsie...
Reasonably priced- especially if your idea is good (haha) - with SUPREME & GENTLE Artistry. Burnsie is THE MAN & Alchemy is THE PLACE! -

I walked into Alchemy with no tattoos and a whole lot of nerves, but its intimate environment and friendly service instantly put me at ease.
I had the pleasure of meeting and being tattooed by Mike (Burnsie!) who is everything you could ask for in a tattoo artist. He was ever so patient in the process of guiding me through my first tattoo and making sure I was as comfortable as possible. I definitely look forward to getting more work done from him in the future.
All in all, Alchemy has the great artists and atmosphere that are conducive to an enjoyable and memorable tattoo experience. -

I have been getting tattooed all over the world for well over 25 years now and I can tell you that the staff at Alchemy are true professionals and have a shitload of talent. I would highly suggest checking them out for yourself and see just what a relaxed place with no attitudes it really is.
Need a portrait? They have an artist for that. How about some traditional ink? They have you covered sailor. You want some tribal bro? Handled. Fine line gansta shit you ask? Man, they are so good your boys would swear you just got out from doing a nickel in Folsum. In short, Alchemy's got what you need, without all the pretensious "as seen on tv" bullshit... -

First time here. First tattoo. Everyone was really friendly and that was helpful because I didn't know what to expect. I just wanted to get a latin phrase, nothing big. Roger sketched out what I wanted in a few minutes and before you know it, it was over! Decent pricing..I'll definitely be back!

Q: What do you want? A: An awesome tattoo.
That is what you will get at Alchemy. No bullshit. Straight to the point.
A good relationship with a tattoo artist is akin to that between doctor and patient. It's personal. You have to trust that you are in good hands, good CLEAN hands.
If you are looking for a non pretentious, affordable, trustworthy shop full of talented artists than this is your spot.
If you are looking for a scumbag with no credentials to tattoo yo baby daddy's name on yo ass, this might NOT be your spot. -

I've been going to Chris Breska for a few years, and I always walk away with a wonderful tattoo.
He's super sweet, pretty quick and affordable.
I love the space he is in now. It's very clean, spacious, comfortable, and the other tattoo artists are funny, friendly guys.
It's a great atmosphere to be in while you are experiencing a little bit of pain.
I hope to be back in to see Chris very soon! -

This place is great. I've never gotten a tattoo before, and was looking to get one with a friend of mine. We ended up calling around to a lot of different places in LA before we settled on Alchemy.
After discussing the price we paid for our ink with friends, we found out it was super appropriate, and they could have easily gone higher, especially since we are new to this.
The location in Silverlake is awesome, and the place is super clean.
More important than any of that though, was the guys who were helping us out. Everyone at the shop was amazingly awesome and cool, and couldn't have been better about answering our stupid questions, or just shooting the shit and putting us at ease.
Like I say, this was the first tattoo I've ever got, but I really could not be more happy with Alchemy and the guys who work there. -

I was drawn to this place because my tattoo artist Sandie Calistro was in town from Colorado and Alchemy was nice enough to let her do some work out of their shop while she was here.
Chris is a really nice dude and I'll definitely be coming back to have him work on me a bit too. They all ride motos, and encourage people to cruise by on their bikes as well. Ran into an old friend who stopped on by. You can tell this place has that friendly hang out vibe. Stoked on the no attitude atmosphere, and the work that was getting done while I was in there was incredible.
Kudos. -

Before visiting the shop I had only heard good things from my very covered know what they're talking about tattooed friends. Personally I had been winding down my tattoo addiction but around Christmas I was given a gift certificate to Alchemy Tattoo. A few days before I headed on the road for the Summer I decided I wanted some simple line work done. I gave Chris a call & he got me in swiftly last minute, how nice!
While I knew Chris was capable of doing way more than what I was asking him of him he UNDERSTOOD what I was going for and CREATED it. Even if it wasn't his style he made it happen with professionalism & kindness.
The atmosphere of the shop & clean & welcoming and on my 15th year of collecting tattoos I can honestly say it's one of my favorite shops pretense free & with the portfolio & experience to match. After admiring his upcoming work on the walls while getting my linework done it became obvious that I was going to have to revisit him soon to get his style on me. Highly recommend! -

I have had my only 2 tattoos done here by Chris Breksa, and both times were an enjoyable experience. I laughed a lot, got to talk about silly things, and also got 2 great tattoos that were affordable and GREAT!
I was recommended to come here from a friend the first time, and the 2nd time i went (yesterday) i brought another friend along (she got a tattoo too)
Super nice guys over there, clean, fast, affordable....couldn't ask for anything better. I will be back again. -

Late after work the other night I got the urge to get a tattoo I've been wanting for a while. It was 9:20 when I called the shop, a guy answered. "What time are you guys open until?", I asked.
"Actually we closed 20 minutes ago", the man answered, but he asked what I was l looking for. After a brief discussion, he told me to come on in.
Sarah did the tattoo. The shop was clean and very professional. Sarah did a great job on the ink, and Chris, the owner was friendly and accommodating.
The fact that they let me come in after closing on a Tuesday night is awesome. I'm very happy with the work, and the hospitality is top notch. Highly recommended. -

Alchemy is the rad tattoo shop I have searched high and low for in LA!
I recently got tattooed by Wyatt, who listened to exactly what I wanted and even offered some awesome recommendations.
My bf and bff both got work done by the owner Chris, and loved their experience and end result. He really knows his shit.
I cant wait to go back! -

I've been consistently getting tattooed at Alchemy over the last year. I have to say that the quality of work, fun atmosphere, and fair pricing is what keeps me coming back to my mother's dismay. I'll definitely be working with the artists at Alchemy for a few other pieces I have planned. Chris' work is bright and vibrant, his use of color is amazing. I've sent over a dozen friends to Alchemy and they're all repeat customers now. There are no attitudes at Alchemy and I've come in with some hare-brained ideas and they've accommodated all of them. Highly recommended!

Chris is definitely my new go-to tattoo artist in LA! I've been looking for a quality shop, with a relaxed vibe since I moved from San Francisco last year - and I plan on recommending Alchemy to everyone.
Alchemy came recommended to me from a friend - and I picked up a gift certificate ($50 GC's for $13 on Friday the 13th!) a few weeks back that was burning a hole in my pocket.
When I came in to talk to Chris about my idea he was totally helpful and had a ton of great reference books to help me create the perfect piece. He even made time for me to come in and get it done later that day - awesome!! He's super professional, clean and was surprisingly quick (my body thanks you for that!) and I had an all around great time chatting with him while getting worked on.
My newest tattoo is my new favorite! So thank you, Chris - I predict I'll see you again soon! -

Amazing experience.....Chris Breksa has given me my past four tattoos. Each time I went to go see him he has been extremely helpful with putting my ideas together. He will also take the time to ensure that you get exactly what you want.
The shop itself is clean and he has a lot of reference material for clients to look through.
You definitely will be satisfied with the final result! -

One word...AWESOME! Ain't kidding about that either. This place is hands down the best tattoo shop I've ever been to. Incredible service, top notch artistry all around. I can't say enough good things. When you go, ask for MIKE. He not only did an amazing job for me and my fiance, he also did some additional work on a previous tattoo without charging extra. Get your ink done here if you want the best. Seriously.

I walked into this lovely shop this weekend after I had called to check up on someone who was great with line work and had some availability that day. So I stopped in, was greeted by Chris and we got to talking about some tats. He was super easy to talk to which was great because I definitely needed some guidance as I wanted to start out with 3 smaller tattoos on my arm to eventually transition into a full sleeve, and I wanted the placement to make sense and not seem just super random. He had some great advice, actually advised me to put something I had in mind in a different spot because it just would have been too small where I wanted it. We then started sizing the other work out and he was super easy going when I wanted something a little bigger, or just a touch different. Everything turned out awesome! Nice and crisp, straight, and the most sentimental peice of work I was getting done (mom and dad's signature) was right on the money. He also touched up an existing peice of work across my chest and it turned out even better then the original! The other guys in the shop where super chill and really friendly. Great atmosphere overall. Not to mention I thought the pricing was really reasonable for what I got done. It's not like some places that leave you hanging with an hourly rate. This is definitely my go-to place now, and I'm excited for the new location coming up! Thanks again Chris!

Came in here tonight after reading the RAVING reviews on Yelp! They don't lie! Chris was the nicest guy and so patient with me. I was getting a small tattoo on my arm (my third) and he was really accommodating to me after I asked him to replace the stencil about 4 or 5 times! Even though I already had 2 tats before they are really small and meaningful to me so I was nervous as HECK at the thought of permanently marking my body again. After all my suggestions of tattoo placements he finally said "do you want me to just put it where I think it would look best." and in that short of amount of time I trusted him and I let him and that was the best choice and now its mine for forever! You can tell Chris really just loves his job and wants to make his customers feel comfortable. I'm planning on coming back again to have some touch up work done on an old tat. This place is relaxed and not pretentious at all. If you are looking for some over priced trendy Hollywood boutique tattoo parlor then look the other way! What you will find at Alchemy is a relaxed environment with people you can talk to and trust. Today is the day after my birthday and he really made my day!

Alchemy Tattoo is in short a great, clean, quality tattoo shop in Los Angeles. I've been there twice and each time I left happy at the work that was done. I am most definitely going back to get more work done. Also Chris sometimes has rainy day specials, Friday the 13th specials and I believe he had a special for Lincoln's b-day. Everyone there is pretty friendly and chill. Also while waiting for a tattoo go next door and grab some good Mexican grub!

I've been getting tattooed for the past 8 years by different artists across the country. Chris BY FAR did the best work I've had done yet. He worked with me to get exactly what I wanted, and it came out beautiful! All the other guys at the shop are really fun and inviting too. None of that pretentious tattoo shop crap. And! They have the AC pumpin! Perfect excuse to hang there and get tattooed all summer!

I went in last week on the recommendation from a friend's coworker, showed them what I wanted and immediately Roger was excited about my idea. He drew it up for me and I went in today for my session. What he came up with is amazing and I couldn't be happier with it. Roger was amazing. He's a really nice guy and it was great to know he was just as stoked on my tattoo as I was. Everyone else in the shop were really friendly. I'd absolutely recommend Roger/Alchemy to anyone looking for a great shop and great artist.

This is a great new Tattoo shop. All the artists there are very talented. Always greeted when you walk in. No pressure from the staff to get a huge tattoo. And no mega-ego tattoo guy vibes. Their not even that surly which in my opinion is amazing for a tattoo shop. Chris B is my new favorite artist. He does very strong traditional work. I will go back and get my next piece here for sure...

Just went there for the first time today after reading all these great reviews. The place was awesome, the people were great, and my tattoo looks amazing. I've gotten a lot of work done in the past, and these guys are top notch. They got me in and out in less than 2 hours and the work was reasonably priced. Mike did my piece and he was super cool, did some great detail, and has a nice, gentle touch.

I don't think I'm the most qualified person to rate this place as I've only gotten two words as small as the dickens tattooed on me here thus far but I want to give them some love. I have definitely found where I'll be getting tattooed in the future. I had a few small tattoos done the day before in West Hollywood at a tattoo shop that'll be left unnamed... it was expensive and the actual tattoo process took a LONG time. So the next day I decided I wanted to add these two words above one of my new tattoos and looked up places in the area. I was impressed by what I heard about Alchemy and found out that my friend has been tattooed by Chris. Looked at some photos and gave them a call. Wyatt said to come in and he'd take care of me. Came in and told him what I wanted and he quoted me their super cheap minimum of $50... done and done. Also, I have horrible tattoos on my chest that I wanted him to look at and offer any suggestions. We both agreed that it wasn't worth touching up since I don't like them in the first place and I should ask Chris his opinion when he got back. On to the tattooing... I felt so comfortable with Wyatt. He's super friendly and engaging and made sure the tattoo was how I wanted it. The actual tattooing process took no time at all and we were done in a couple minutes. Chris came back and looked at my tattoo and suggested that I get my chest tattoos removed or at least lightened before I do anything. Not the answer I was looking for but I knew he was right. He even suggested a doctor and gave me his info. All and all I know I'll be back to Alchemy tattoo and definitely recommend it to my friends. Thanks again Wyatt and Chris!
