Love this place, absolutely loved it! Alcantara reminds me of some of the smaller vineyards we visited in Napa. The staff was very friendly and you could tell were very proud of their product.   Which they should be, of all the wineries we tried in Verde Valley, they definitely produced some of the best.  We did the vineyard tour and tastings, and had a blast.  The vineyard is well kept, and has a small chapel nestled in between the vines which showcase some spectacular views.  It would make a perfect wedding spot.  The tasting room itself was new, and has a Tuscan feel to it. The outside patio is very cozy and again showcases some amazing views of the vineyard and national forest it backs up to.  We are already planning our next trip back!

Impromptu ride north to Cottonwood brought me to Alcantara Vineyard for some wine tasting.  The vineyard is located on a beautiful piece of land, expansive, with a gorgeous view of the Verde Valley.

The grapes were of course gone and things were quite brown, but the staff and surroundings were charming nonetheless.  A great trip, good wine.

our first stop on a wine tour with Sedona Red Rock Adventures. this was the only true winery on our stop, replete with their own vineyards.
the grounds were beautiful and the tasting room was absolutely gorgeous, warm, and cozy. they allowed our pooch to come it, but i wound up putting her on the porch as the stimulation was a bit much for her.

we were served enthusiastically by our hostess and she was somewhat liberal with the pours. each pour came with an eager explanation of wine and we even left with complimentary wine glasses. what a nice gesture.

a great, great start to our tour. highly recommended for a wine stopover in cottonwood.

Only my fourth time here! Highly recommend coming here especially when doing a wine tasting tour, this is the first stop. For $15.00 , you can choose 5 tastings from 10 different varietals plus a souvenir glass. ( I now have a set!)  You can also order a fruit/cheese plate for $15.00, I believe.
The staff is always friendly and very knowledgeable! Love coming here!

The grounds are nice, the staff was very pleasant.  However, the wines weren't great, with the exception of a couple that were above average.  I felt the cost to value of the wine was off.  I don't mind paying 40-60 dollars for a bottle of wine but it should be very good.  Also seemed like pours for flight were a bit small.

This was our first stop on our Sedona Red Rock Adventures wine tour. What a beautiful vineyard! The winery was all decorated for the holidays and had a lovely warm, homey feel to it. They are dog lovers too, and allowed our dog in. Our hostess was friendly and attentive and poured some beautiful wines! She even gave me a key chain/corkscrew opener because I was celebrating my birthday. What a thoughtful touch!!  The ambiance made us just want to sit and relax here. Thanks for such a nice experience!

Lovely grounds with the newly built chapel - and access to "the beach" which is the river that runs along the winery. You can buy a glass or bottle and stoll to your hearts content. The wines were a bit pricier and I didn't care for them as much as I did Caduceus and Oak Creek Vinyards, but we enjoyed ourselves none the less and the server was a kick!

Going to the restroom I felt as if I was using someones private bath, apparently the owner lives in the building but is looking to move very soon, so maybe it will loose that awkward feel. You also feel like you are in someone's private kitchen when tasting inside. It was $10 for 5 tastes plus a souvenier wine glass - not a bad deal but bottles were on the pricier end.

A definite go-to on your day-tripping wine tour!

Great location with a beautiful view and the Verde river in their backyard!  Nice large Tuscan style house with great decor and awesome outdoor patio.  There are kayak tours down the Verde that stop here but I came via car.  I did the $10 tasting.  The wine was Ok but not great.  I guess Southern AZ wine is better than northern?    A great place to check out while on an wine tour or if your in the neighborhood.

Nice wines, but kinda pricey.  The view is descent, but nothing compared to the wineries in Napa, Santa Barbara or even Temecula!

Cool decor on the inside, basically a cozy little cottage.

Really cool art on the wine bottles.

We stumbled across this place on our way up to Jerome last weekend. It's situated down a dirt/gravel road and once you get there, boy, you're in for a treat! The setting is just beautiful. The tasting room is located in the midst of the vineyard, so you're able to actually SEE the vines from which the wonderful grapes were picked to create the lovely wine. There are many varieties to try. I stuck to the ones there were from the grapes grown on location.  The Mourvedre was my favorite. We were there on a Saturday and there was music on the patio.  Although we intended to be a quick stop to see the sites and taste the wine, we couldn't bear to leave the beautiful setting, the music, the wine....sooooo wonderful! We found a great table out on the lawn and sat for the entire evening!

My girlfriends and I had a lovely time at Alcantara. The owner was very nice and chatted with us. There was a man playing live music. It's $10 for 5 tastings, you choose. They have a dozen or so, mostly reds. There are tables, chairs, umbrellas and lounge seating for you to sit at. You can bring your own lunch/picnic or they have cheese platters for $15. The wines were tasty, my favorite was a new white one that wasn't bottled yet. Started with a "v" but I can't remember the name. Watch out for the 2006 Late Harvest* Semillion, it was super sweet! My main picture is from my trip there. The grounds were pretty, but it IS Arizona, so don't expect too much lush or mild temperatures!

Loved the wine, view, and staff.   This is a great place to escape to and drink a glass of wine.  Ben always refers to it as an oasis.  The staff was very friendly and did not rush although they were short staffed at first.   They made a point to make everyone feel at home.   And guys if you feel like you need to rush at a wine tasting don't go.   But the longer time just allowed us to really relax and enjoy the view with our wine.   They have several wines made from the grapes grown there and the day we were there they were harvesting.  Did not see anything but I heard the owners talking about it with sone of the locals.   Yep that's right the owners were there checking in and making sure everything was good.   We shared a cheese plate and for $15 it was worth it as that was enough to carry us until our dinner at the Asylum which was recommended by our Waitress.  We tried the reds and they were all fabulous.   The sweet whites were the only ones not to my liking but as always with wine what one likes another may not.

I did a Water to Wine tour from Sedona Adventuers where you safely kayak down the verde river right up to Alcantara Vineyards.  It was really fun wine tour and I reccomend it. Alcantara has delicious wine.  I would reccomend tasting with a partner or friend so you can try each other's wine and therefore sample more of their wines. I loved their Pinot Grigio and their red Nebbiolo.  Alcantara has lots of seating optoions: a bar, couches/chairs to lounge in inside, an outdoor covered patio with a scenic view, or you could bring a picnic and sit on the lawn near the vineyards or the verde river.  It's a beautiful place to be with loved ones.
